North Coast Chapter Report
There have only been a couple Pro Am Invitationals since the last report including the popular Baywood GCC Pro Am in July.
The next Chapter event will be the October 11 th Annual Meeting. Originally it was to be coordinated in conjunction with the Redwood Empire Pro Am, but that was cancelled due to time conflicts.
Items that will take top priority are working together to re energize the local pro am structure and getting more involved at the Section level.

North State Chapter Report Board of Directors Meeting 2022
It is my pleasure to provide this update on North State Chapter activities as well as recognize our tournament winners and those who have greatly contributed to our success.
The 2022 North State Board of Directors consisted of President Derek Zachman, Vice President Greg Ciavarelli, and Secretary TBA. Committee members include Pat Shaw (Growth of the Game), Kelly Runkle (Tournaments).
Mission Statement
The mission of the North State Ch apter is to elevate the standards of PGA professionals through processional development, education, tournament competition and sharing of best practices. We believe in growing the game with players of all ages and promoting the enjoyment and involvement of the game on golf in our area.

Hard to believe we are almost halfway through the 2022 calendar year! My first five months in this new role as your Career Consultant has been a thrilling and rewarding ride and I wanted to reiterate to you all how honored I am to serve this wonderful Section.
A couple reminders:
1. Please complete your compensation profile on PGA.org if you haven't already done so. This is a very important tool that the Career Services team uses to better support your fellow professionals and employers within the industry with the goal of increasing compensation for all PGA Professionals. This profile is strictly confidential and owned by the PGA Professional.
2. Are you low on MSR's? There is still time to sign up for the Engage, Elevate, and Advance Webinar led by myself and Junko Harkins, PGA on June 9th. 2022 North State Chapter Pro Am
Hosted at Lake of the Pines CC on August 15 th with 16 members in attendance. Congratulations Derek Zachman for winning the Professional flight with a sco re of 4. Brian Glosser took 2nd at 2, and Michael Nicoletti took 3rd at +1. We had 16 teams and almost a full field. First place professional took home $1,000! A big thank you to Patrick Shaw and Lake of the Pines for hosting us.

NCPGA San Joaquin Valley Chapter Report
October 2022
The San Joaquin Valley Chapter has been relatively quiet over the past couple months. Within our chapter The First Tee of San Joaquin hosted a Pro Am at Greenhorn Creek Resort that drew significant participation from our Chapter Members as we offered Play er of the Year Points. We felt like it was a fun and mutually beneficial way to increase participation both for the event and for our Chapter. Coming up we will be closing out our “Season” with the Ernie George Memorial Chapter Championship at Micke Grov e Golf Links on October 10 th, followed by our last event of the year at the Chapter “Civil War” at Elkhorn CC on November 21 st .
As a Chapter we have seen our participation numbers fluctuate greatly between higher than normal participants, and then lower than usual for some events to the point of cancelation or postponement. With the Central Valley Golf Professionals being so busy we are finding that now more than ever the timeframe for scheduling is as much or more important than the type of event we host. We are going to continue using the easy technology and communication through the Section to reach our players as well as placing high value on personal relationships and making the competition somewhat secondary. We plan to continue this type of outr each with the hope that we will continue to host several events throughout the year and keep our Chapter healthy.

Sierra Nevada Chapter Report
The Sierra Nevada Chapter is wrapping up a successful 2022 summer season. With mild to cool weather this spring, a warm and smoke free summer season, and an amazing start to fall, all is well in the Sierra Nevada Chapter. Most courses haven’t seen “Covid Numbers” but strong upticks from a more standard year such as 2019.
In other positive news, our PGA Team won the annual Brooks Park Cup this past week at Edgewood Tahoe. Congrats gentleman! Our chapter continues to be strong financially and we’re always looking for ways to provide tournament, education and other opportunities to our members. One unique education event last week, Philip Dawson provided a clinic to membership titled “Teaching with Technology”, we met on the range at Gray’s Crossing and in r eal time discussed every facet of launch monitors and the pros and cons of teaching while using these great tools.
Our schedules begin to wind down this month, giving us plenty of time to reflect on the year. We plan to build on our success from 22’ while designing a new tournament and education calendar for 23’.

The Education Committee continues to meet the first Wednesday of the months
MSR’s have changed to PDR’s (Professional Development Requirements) , and with the newly changed name there have been a few updates to the credit requirements so please see below .
1) Total Credits (54) A total of 54 credits must be earned, with at least 30 credits from Required Education Credits/Specified Player Engagement Programs and at least 6 credits from the Required Meeting/National Surveys Credits, while the other means of obtaining credits towards the total requirement remain per the prior program.
2) 30 Required Credits PGA Approved Education, Professional Standards Education/Training and/or Specified PGA Player Engagement Programs.
3) 6 Required Credits PGA Meeting Attendance and/or National Survey Completion
* All credits earned in the Required Category are also credited towards the Total Category.

• 2022 NCPGA Education Seminar #3 October 25th & 26th
o Two full days of learning, led by Todd Sammons, Director, Education for the PGA of America will provide a pathway along the Lifelong Learning journey to Certification in Teaching and Coaching. At the end of the two days, you will be on the doorstep to achieve Specialization and work toward Certification.
o Attending the two days online will result in 16 PDR credits and through purchase of the library you shall receive 30 PDR credits.
• NCPGA Annual Meeting and Education coming up in December. We already have Ted Antonopoulos and Scott Wellington schedule to speak. Ted will share information about the new changes to the Rules of
Golf taking place on January 1st of next year. Scott Wellington will share information about the PGA of America and new programs taking place in 2023. The third component of the meeting, to be finalized, is a presentation by TaylorMade golf on monetizing fitting days, a concept similar in purpose to Will Robin’s work.
• The NCPGA Teaching and Coaching Summit will take place again in January, January 6th is the current proposed date, and we have decided on a virtual platform again this year. The virtual platform allows us to bring in better speakers at a lower cost and also allows more Members and Assocaites to attend by eliminating the need to travel to the event.
We will notify everyone of new opportunities as they become available.

● Working on a proposal to the NCPGA Foundation to allow level 1 associates to apply for scholarships. Summary- those in level 1 could receive approval for reimbursement upon completion compared to money upfront to obtain the goal of supporting those that are invested in becoming a Class A member.

August 31, 2022, Statement of Activities (page 1) Balance Sheet (page 2)
Results for the year end period August 31, 2022, reflect a Section operating NOI (Net Operating Income) of $ 9,031 inclusive of Investment Interest and net of Depreciation, and $19,850 on a consolidated basis. This result is positive variance of $5,312 vs YOY results. The decreased revenue for G&A is characterized through the lack of $110,000 from the Payroll Protection Program of 2021, the lack of PGA of America Royalty payment, $10,000, which have been paid in September 2022. The Tournament Revenue decrease is characterized by the reduction of Entry Fees $19,000 and expenses are inclusive of 2021 charges in the amount of $15,400. The Membership Category is under review as there are wages to be reclassified, bringing that expense into line. This adjustment will be made on the statements for the period ended September 30, 2022.
Our cash position reflects health through the period ended August 31, 2022, with an operating balance of $244,000 and reserves of $ 348,000. We are due $ 94,000 from the PGA of America in the form of our 2nd 2022 ADP payment, which we shall be able to add to our reserves. In September, our cash position allowed us to pay off our auto loans, thereby eliminating any and all debt. These loans reflect on the attached statement due to the period end timing.
It is time to begin our 2023 Operating Plan. HQ has rolled out a new platform . Adaptive, and on a national basis training has begun for our Section Accountants and Section staff. Our first training session was yesterday, October 13.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENT POLICY, (PDR), as defined by the PGA Board of Directors:
1 A Section may require that all Section and Chapter activities be approved in advance.
2 Based on previously approved activities, established guidelines and Section recommendations, the National Office will approve the credits to be awarded for a certain activity. The Board of Control will determine the number of credits in all disputes and the Board of Directors reserves the right to make modifications to the requirements.
3 A participant may receive compensation for an activity.
4 Fifty‐four (54) Total credits are required for a three‐year cycle; of which at least 30 must come from Education and/or Specified Player Engagement Programs and six (6) must come from Meetings and/or National Survey Submission.
5 Members who have attained a combination of years of membership and age which adds up to 90 or more before the start of the Professional Development Requirement Program Cycle (June 16, 2022), shall be required to earn 12 PDR credits only from any PDR category.
6 Members in the Unaffiliated Section will be required to earn two thirds (2/3) of the requirement.
7 Members in the Reserve Classification will be required to earn one half (1/2) of the requirement.

Attending career specific education, including serving as a speaker/instructor. Attending education on topics such as youth safety, diversity, equity and inclusion, mental health wellbeing. 1 credit per each hour of attendance.
It is recommended that education be completed within one’s current, or desired career path (Executive Management, Golf Operations, or Teaching and Coaching) Any online education must have an assessment which is successfully completed.

Vision Statement: Impacting Lives Through Golf
The Mission of the NCPGA Foundation is three fold: To serve Veterans Their health and their families; to provide resources to PGA members serving their communities in Northern California and Northwestern Nevada; and to grow the game of golf.
PGA HOPE 2022 - Fall Programs are underway at ten different locations, with approximately 190 veterans attending. Graduation day is very special for the veterans, where they are treated to a 9 hole scramble with a Pro, competition is for bragging rights, and every one is a winner! Veterans receive a PGA HOPE logo golf shirt and an ID card that identifies them as a PGA HOPE graduate. The veterans are extremely grateful for the care and attention they receive from the Instructors, and there is a sense of pride and accomplishment in completing the PGA HOPE program.
For the first time adaptive golf carts were needed at four separate locations to assist veterans with varying mobility needs. These carts provide veterans with the opportunity to experience what it’s like to swing from a more upright or standing position. Unfortunately there aren’t enough carts to go around (the Foundation has 4 carts / 1 is broken) so the Foundation will look towards purchase of another adaptive cart.
● The ten Host locations are: Diablo Creek Golf Course, Metropolitan Golf Links, Cypress Lakes Golf Course, Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, Bayonet Black Horse, Mariners Point Golf Center, Presidio Golf Course, Swenson Park Golf Course, Sierra Sage Golf Course, and Santa Teresa Golf Course.

● As always, PGA HOPE Partner Facilities are Needed – Any course that would like to be recognized as a PGA HOPE Partner Facility may join by sending in a description of their discount offer which will then be promoted to the PGA HOPE veteran community. The Foundation is working on recognition for these courses.
● PGA National Day of HOPE October 11 through November 11 this is a 30 day campaign ending on Veterans Day. Adopt this campaign at your Facility in honor of veterans that have sacrificed for your freedoms! Share the campaign in your club newsletter, post flyers about National Day of HOPE. Section support is increasing by $8 MM since FY13 to reach $20 million, which is a 66% increase.

CAREER SERVICES UPDATE
● Seth announced at the Annual Meeting that a deferred compensation program was approved. ● Sub committees that include your fellow PGA Professionals, board members and ED’s. These groups are working on program details and administration. ● The details of the program will be rolled out at this year's annual meeting including ○ What programs are worth? ○ Who gets the points? ○ How are they allocated will be determined? ○ All will be announced at the annual meeting
● The anticipated program start is the first quarter of 2023.
● This is a very difficult process and it won’t be without challenges. We will roll out, review and refine the program over the first few years.
GOVERNANCE UPDATE (SEPTEMBER)
The PGA Board of Directors, during its August Board Meeting, approved a Bylaw change to adjust the name of the affiliation of PGA Professionals who work or live overseas, from “Unaffiliated” to “International.” This change was recommended by the PGA Membership Committee, with support of the Executive Director Committee. The revised reading of the applicable PGA Bylaw is:
ARTICLE IX SECTION AFFILIATIONS
Section 4. International Members
Members and Associates in any classification who are employed outside the boundaries of a local Section and Members and Associates who are unemployed outside the boundaries of a local Section qualify for International Membership.
As an alternate placement in International Membership, a Member or Associate who is employed outside of the United States may:
(i) Continue to be affiliated with the Section the Member or Associate was most recently affiliated with, provided the Section approves of the affiliation; or
(ii) Become affiliated with another Section provided the Section approves of the affiliation.
In the event of a disagreement between the Section and the Member/Associate about the affiliation issue, the issue shall be submitted to the Board of Control for resolution. The decision of the Board of Control shall bind the Section and the Member/Associate.
Members and Associates who qualify for International Membership and choose not to, or are unable to affiliate with a Section in the United States, will remain in the International Membership. All Members and Associates in the International Membership will, for all other PGA membership matters, be considered unaffilia ted for purposes of Section affiliation.
Those who are employed and choose not to affiliate with a Section in the United States, and those who are unemployed, will automatically be part of the International Membership, and be considered unaffiliated for purposes of Section affiliation.

Regional Model Overview
A Regional Member Support Model has been developed to provide additional support for Sections in Career Services, Section Business Operations, Recruitment, Player Development, ExecuSearch and Finance.
This model will take the current field teams and align them in seven defined regions.
This model will provide GREATER COLLABORATION, ELIMINATE REDUNDANCIES, and ALIGN the STRATEGIC PLAN at the local and national level.
This pushes the priority of the support to the regions. If your Section and Region need more support and resources in a specific area, Player Development, Career Services, “THIS TEAM” will collaborate on those needs and make a collective ask if needed for additional support.
This “TEAM” approach will drive more support locally, and focus on the priorities and needs at the local level. More support to our Sections, to the Executive Directors, and directly to our Members.
