Win this silver tray from Beatriz Ball on the Weddings in Arkansas blog during the month of May!

When I was planning my own wedding almost six years ago, I didn’t have Pinterest boards overflowing with beautiful wedding dresses, flowers, tabletop ideas and cakes. I had magazines. Lots of magazines. My sweet mom and I would meet at the Fordyce Bakery on Saturdays, since that was halfway between Little Rock and my hometown of El Dorado. We would sit for hours at a time drinking sweet tea, sharing ideas and planning every aspect of my wedding. As you flip through the pages of this issue of Weddings in Arkansas, you are sure to find fresh ideas to help you plan a gorgeous Southern affair, right here in Arkansas. We looked to the pros and asked three floral and event designers to each create a different tabletop just for you. You’ll find their unique and creative designs in our “Setting the Scene” feature beginning on page 9. We were so impressed by these talented designers and the ideas they brought to the table. What’s more, we also have ten real weddings to share! Fashion, cake, floral ideas and much more can be found here, all from top Arkansas wedding vendors. Our stunning fashion feature begins on page 47, and showcases lovely lace, gorgeous jewels and flirty dresses. Seriously, we did not want that photo shoot to end. To wrap it up, Jessica Zimmerman, owner of A Southern Tradition, shares her top ten spring and summer wedding trends on page 58, which is a must-see. Get ready to be inspired. Don’t worry, we will add all of our gorgeous photography to our Weddings in Arkansas website and Pinterest page, so you can “pin” to your own wedding boards. However, if you’re like us and prefer to hold on to magazines, we hope our inspiring pages are at the top of your stack.

“No detail goes unnoticed on this table. We love the edible flowers in the ice cubes.”

Bold colors and stripes are more popular than ever when it comes to both fashion and home décor. We love the idea of mixing the two for a modern twist on the timeless staples. Clockwise from top left: Violet Chiavari chairs with blackand-white seat cushions set the tone for this contemporary garden party look. A mix of fresh flowers, including helleborus, ranunculus, anemone, hyacinth and clematis come together in shades of peach and purple. Ice cubes infused with edible flowers make for sweet sippers. Whimsical calligraphy signs mark the chairs of the bride and groom. Design by Pigmint Floral & Event Design, Fayetteville. Calligraphy; Anchor Port Calligraphy, Fayetteville. Clockwise from top left: Ornate silver mixes effortlessly with more contemporary place settings. Authentic Arkansas crystals make unique favors and serve as mementos of the Natural State for out-of-town guests. Crisp gold accessories stand out among the mix of natural and neutral decor. A faux-bois backdrop gives the space its forest-like feel, which carries over to the birch vase and classic wood table. Design by Inspired by Nature, Little Rock. "Art Deco is back on the silver screen and making waves in fashion and wedding details."

Clockwise from top left: Inspired by The Great Gatsby, delicate stemware and decadent place settings top this gold-draped table. Black-and-white menu cards paired with white feathers are reminiscent of the style of the 1920s. Gold-and-white china mixes effortlessly with cut glass for a refined and collected look. Bright berries blend with red roses and dark pink tulips to add color to the table. Design by Buzz Event Planning & Design, Springdale. Menu and place cards; Shindig Paperie, Fayetteville. Top Ten LIST The style and look of your big day sets the tone for the celebration. Jessica Zimmerman of Conway’s A Southern Tradition shares ten fresh ideas to make your wedding both beautiful and memorable.

Color Palettes:

1.

Neutral, neutral, neutral! I am in love with neutral palettes right now. Ivory and white linens with florals in the same color scheme are so chic and timeless.

2. I am completely obsessed with the color gray for spring. Layer it with blush tones for a romantic yet contemporary feel.

3. Instead of opting for a venue-supplied polyester linen, go with a lush, textured tablecloth that falls all the way to the floor. It's an easy way to elevate the look of your wedding.

Invitations:

4. Letterpress invitations, like this one from Bella Figura, set an amazing tone for

your wedding. Letterpress has such a custom, handmade feel to it. When you pull a thick, textured letterpress invitation out of its envelope, you can’t help but think, “This wedding is going to be truly fabulous.”

5. Last year, fashion runways were filled with neon, and now you'll

see a bright color peeking out of invitations as well. Don’t go full-on neon with your invite, though. I recommend a neutral invite with a hit of color, such as an ivory invitation with a coral patterned envelope or a neutral invitation with a cobalt blue edge.

6.

Floral:

7.

Lavish, yet natural florals are so lovely. While brides still love vintage, they are moving away from the "weedy," informal floral look. I love that brides are craving flowers that feel luxurious yet natural.

8.

This year, it's all about banquet tables with long floral arrangements running the entire length of the table. Try hydrangeas and peonies for a gorgeous pairing.

9.

Cascading bouquets are also making a comeback this year. Brides are craving the return of a formal wedding.

DÉcor:

10. Rent, don't buy! Many vendors, including A Southern

Tradition, have an inventory of unique items available for rent. Many items are things you would find in a furniture store or in your own home, but there are also practical items. Wouldn't you rather rent candles than purchase them and find a place to store them after the wedding?

I love a formal invitation with a bold pattern on the back or as a flash of surprise on the invitation liner. Last year, it was all about chevron. This year, I am obsessed with honeycomb patterns.
