The Indigenous sports and recreation programs and partnerships across Canada: A literature review and environmental scan provides an overview of the literature on Indigenous Peoples’ participation in physical activity, recreation and sports and the organizations that are working to promote their participation in these activities across Canada.
Specifically, it highlights: Indigenous physical activity, recreation, and sport organizations from the community and regional levels to the national, provincial, and territorial levels; facilitators of and barriers to participation in physical activity, recreation, and sport in Indigenous populations; and existing guidelines or best practices for improving participation in physical activity, recreation, and sport among First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It also aims to highlight gaps in research and programming.
