A Night in October* On a dark, cool night in October, when The moon shined its wicked gleam, Spirits hid in the shadows as they have-been The deviation, the differentiation: you wouldn’t hear their victims scream And today was the night I walked alone To the tone of my own exequy march The wind screeched at me, my foolish little poem, Talking to myself during my way home, coming to the arch The Gothic Arch marked the graveyard, the graveyard marked the path The path wrote my very epitaph, Here Lies she who died a fatal death, overcome with wrath Spirits seeked her and she was entrapped Hear Her shriek in the night Her life taken forevermore, that old banshee I could practically see it, even in the dull light Now I was running on the gravel on my would be Victim site I saw a light of someone Or something, it was so bright I was outdone and out-run Chills raced up my spine The end of the gate was near Or The End was nigh I almost made it, in the clear Though, something dreadful from behind, tickled my quivering ear….
