Let America Be America Again*

Let America be America again. Let it be the opportunity it used to be. Let it be the hard working man’s mine of Gold. (America never was an opportunity for me.) Let America be the home where everyone Could dream. Let it be the land filled With love and pride. Where people of all Colors could be accepted and happy. Where people Didn’t have to fight just to be seen. Where people aren’t being killed just because the color of their skin is different. Where he, she, and they could all be loved equally. (There’s never been acceptance for me) Let my land be a land where freedom is for all, Where everyone has the same rights and no one Is excluded, and no one is given a better life Just because of their background, but everyone Gets the opportunity to work and be given A chance. The workers in the blazing field of richness aren’t Treated like scum and the women who wear a hijab aren’t seen as evil. Let a man of color be just as powerful as the white man who sits on the throne. Let America be as diverse as the shapes of the snowflakes that fall onto the ground. (I was never given a chance nor or the same rights As a white man.) Who are you that sweats while taking all the hard jobs no one Wants? Who are you that is treated wrongly because Of the color of your skin?
