‚Dem Ritter auf der Spur‘ experience museum
Who knows the weight of the equipment knights had to carry? And what exertions, dangers and new experiences did they glean during their crusades? See, hear and feel –the experience museum the Middle Ages can be enjoyed using all your senses. The 14 themed rooms weave together the story of Heinrich the Knight and Maria, with the history of the Roman roads and the salt roads, as well as pilgrims, crusaders, alchemists and stately homes and castles. Delve into the world of alpacas and llamas, find out useful knowledge about these small camels and stroke their soft wool. Tour of the Grünes Haus Museum

The stately museum in the centre of Reutte was built in the 16th century by a wealthy citizen as a residential building. It was in private ownership until it was bought by the market town of Reutte in 1986 and became opened as a museum after extensive restora tion works. During a visit at an unusual hour get to know the eventful history of the market of Reutte and its inhabitants. In a fun tour you will find out interest ing facts and entertaining details about the famous Via Claudia Augusta roman road, the heyday of the salt trade and the life and achievements of many famous personalities from Reutte.

In the Grünes Haus
Museum visit
The museum in the Green House is located in Reutte’s Untermarkt. The strong shade of green gives the house its name. The wonderful facade was designed in 1779 by Johann Jakob Zeiller. Awaiting you inside are beautiful murals and 13 stuccoed ceilings. The museum has been proud winner of the Tyrolean Museum Prize three times along with the Austrian Museum Quality Seal.
Over around 300 m2 of exhibition space you will find a varied and lovingly presented collection. You can see valuable paintings from the painter‘s workshop of the Zeiller artist family. Well worth seeing are the works of Anna Stainer-Knittel, better known as Geierwally. Visit our clock display and the original-style tavern and discover archaeological finds from our region. The impressive Rodfuhrtafeln tell about the historic heyday of the salt trade in Reutte.

Snowshoe tour
The tour leads from the Ehrenberg Fortress through the mystical Klausen forest up to the Higher Castle with wonderful views of the basin. Second (easier) option: From the fortress via the Gürte to the Karlift and back.

How do I register for an event?
Registration is done either via your host, or you can register yourself via the telephone numbers provided for the respective event in the programme.
The earlier you register the better.
Should you not be able to take part please cancel with the respective event organiser!

– In the event of bad weather, we reserve the right to cancel outdoor events for safety reasons, without substitution.
– Each event offered is subject to available capacity.
