24 Meet Psychic Agnes Daddona! An Interview with Dr. Di By Agnes Daddona, Psychic Medium, Counselor and Healer
Hey, I’m Dr. Diane!
Fall
is here, and it’s time for everything pumpkin, apples, cider, and spices!
In the last few years, I’ve really been able to embrace this time of year instead of dreading it, knowing that winter comes next. I love the warm days but cooler nights, county fairs, changing leaves, and switching my wardrobe to boots and jeans—at least for a few weeks, until I can’t take the cold and escape to Florida!
Check out CT’s Top Holistic Psychotherapists, Hypnotherapists, and Coaches. Considering stress is a major factor for why we get sick and disease progression, there are some great tips and insights in this issue to help you heal your body and stay healthy this winter. Since I’ve been doing more meditating, I’ve found that one of the ways to stay healthy is to focus daily on what I’m grateful for—and with Thanksgiving around the corner, it couldn’t be a more appropriate time.
“Whether you believe in the law of attraction or not, the act of practicing gratitude makes us better people. Take a minute to see how you feel the next time you thank someone for something. Doesn’t it give you a nice, warm feeling?”
—Dr. Diane Hayden, PhD
Practicing gratitude is a fundamental component of the law of attraction and learning how to manifest and create your ideal life. The theory is that to bring what you want into your life, you have to be grateful for what you already have, and you have to give thanks for what you receive in the future. This allows a constant flow of positive energy into and out of your life. If you are not thankful for what you receive, it will block the flow, and you will have a difficult time attracting what you want.
Whether you believe in the law of attraction or not, the act of practicing gratitude makes us better people. Take a minute to see how you feel the next time you thank someone for something. Doesn’t it give you a nice, warm feeling? Check in with how you feel after you should have said thank you for something and didn’t. Not as nice a feeling, right?
Think of all the opportunities you have to show gratitude every day:
• You can thank your spouse for getting up early with the kids so you can sleep in.
• You can thank your kids for cleaning up their room.
• You can show gratitude to your staff for helping you run a successful business every day.
• You can thank the server who waits on you for dinner.
• You can show gratitude to the person who bags your groceries at the market.
Practicing the fine art of gratitude is not only among our most important positive emotions, but one that links directly to physical and mental wellbeing. There is a special kind of magic in gratitude, for it raises our consciousness, boosts our energy, and enhances our self-worth.
Wishing you health and happiness,
Dr. Diane Hayden, PhD Publisher & Owner, ELM Publishing

From Chaos to Calm: Simple Steps to Create a Home
That Nurtures You
Interior designer and wellness lifestyle expert Rachel Schemmerling believes our homes should do more than look beautiful—they should help us feel calm, supported, and restored. Through her work, she’s seen how even small changes can transform the way we experience daily life.
Rachel has created a free guide, “5 Days to a More Peaceful, Wellness-Centered Home.” The simple plan focuses on small, intentional shifts that make a major impact without major renovations or large budgets.
A few of Rachel’s favorite tips from the guide include:
•Clear a visual stress point. Identify one cluttered spot you see daily and take ten minutes to restore order.
•Create a calming corner. Add a cozy chair, soft throw, and warm lighting to invite moments of rest.
•Bring in nature. Fresh flowers, a potted plant, or even a bowl of seasonal fruit can instantly shift a room’s energy.
The guide also offers ways to engage the senses, incorporate daily rituals, and align your home’s design with your personal well-being goals.
Rachel’s approach seamlessly blends interior design with mindful living, helping people create spaces that not only look good but also feel good. By the end of the five days, participants often notice a deeper connection to their home—and to themselves.
The guide is available for free at www.timelesslivingdesigns.com, making it easy for anyone to begin transforming their home into a true sanctuary.
Rachel Schemmerling is the founder of Timeless Living Designs, a wellness-centered interior design studio rooted in the art of intentional living. Blending mindful design with a soulful, slow-living philosophy, Rachel helps clients create restorative spaces that support healing, clarity, and connection. Through personalized design services, curated lifestyle experiences, and a deep appreciation for beauty and well-being, she inspires others to live well—beautifully.
A New Human Species: Homo sapiens sedentarians
Most modern professionals work their occupational magic by sitting for hours. The human body was not designed to be this stationary. Throughout humankind’s presence on this planet, we have been required to move to survive—finding food, escaping from predators, and building shelters. But now, through our modern inventions of convenience, we are literally succumbing to a comfortable lifestyle. We have become Homo sapiens sedentarians
There is nothing inherently wrong with being comfortable—until that comfort gets in the way of your pursuit of happiness. Being more physically active doesn’t require tedious hours at a gym or working with a drill sergeant personal trainer. All it takes is a small, consistent commitment to yourself to get out and take a walk each day, park your car at the furthest point from the shopping center, or take the stairs instead of the elevator when going only a couple of floors. If you take some simple activity steps, you’ll feel better and be healthier— and you won’t have to hear your grandkids say, “Hey, Papa, you run funny!”

An Integrative Approach to Pelvic Floor Health
Pelvic floor health matters—more than most people realize. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles and connective tissues located at the base of the pelvis. These structures support the bladder, uterus, and rectum while helping control urination, bowel movements, posture, and sexual function.
When the pelvic floor isn’t working properly, women may experience urinary leakage, pelvic pressure, painful intimacy, constipation, or difficulty recovering after childbirth. These problems are common, but they are not normal, and they often go untreated because the pelvic floor is rarely discussed in traditional healthcare settings.
The pelvic floor doesn’t function in isolation. It interacts with the spine, hips, core muscles, and even breathing mechanics. That’s why women with pelvic floor dysfunction often struggle with low back pain, hip instability, or engaging their core.
A comprehensive approach can help. Chiropractic adjustments restore healthy movement through the spine and pelvis, creating a more stable foundation. Pelvic floor therapy, using both internal and external techniques, retrains the muscles of support and control. Orthopedic massage helps relieve tension in the hips and low back that can otherwise overload the pelvic floor. Nutrition and functional medicine address inflammation, hormone balance, and digestive health, all of which strongly influence pelvic function. Blending these modalities can restore pelvic health more fully than by addressing just one area. The goal isn’t just fewer symptoms; it’s confidence, strength, and lasting resilience.
Dr. David Bray is a chiropractor and clinical nutritionist specializing in women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation. He is the founder of Bray Chiropractic & Wellness, LLC, in Glastonbury, CT. Bray Chiropractic & Wellness blends chiropractic care, pelvic floor therapy, orthopedic massage, and functional medicine to provide integrative, evidence-based care. CT’s Top Holistic Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, and Coaching
Holistic psychotherapy uses traditional methods of psychotherapy along with nontraditional approaches to accomplish the deepest level of healing possible. The mind, body, and spirit are viewed as one unit, working in harmony and seeking integration and balance.
Hypnotherapy is a type of psychological therapy that uses hypnosis to help treat certain mental and physical health conditions. It can also be used to change habits. Life coaches guide you to specific business and personal goals and transitions in many areas of your life. They help you grow by analyzing your current situation, identifying limiting beliefs and obstacles you face, and devising a custom plan of action to help you achieve your goals.
Dr. Kristine A. Schlichting Hopewell Health Solutions
Ifounded
Hopewell Health Solutions after years of working in schools and hospitals. I saw how often families, children, and adults were offered “onesize-fits-all” care that didn’t address their unique needs. I wanted to create a superior mental health experience within a holistic framework. I dreamed of a place where people could be truly seen and supported and where the community could support healing and growth. Hopewell grew out of that vision: a safe and compassionate center where clients and families can reclaim balance in their lives.
What makes Hopewell unique is the way we combine evidence-based therapies like DBT, individual and group counseling, and intensive outpatient programs with holistic practices such as yoga, mindfulness, animal therapy, and other somatic approaches. Our programming is intentionally designed to be both clinically strong and deeply personal.
We are the only practice in the area offering NeuroStar® Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a noninvasive, drug-free treatment for depression and OCD for clients aged 15 and older. TMS has been shown to be highly effective, with research indicating that over eighty percent of patients experience significant relief from symptoms, restoring clarity, mood, and hope when other treatments haven’t worked.
By blending intensive programming and targeted counseling with innovative therapies like TMS, we’re able to meet people where they are and change the trajectory of their lives, whether they’re facing trauma, depression, substance use recovery, or simply seeking wellness. Clients often say the innovative treatments they received are life-changing.
One of the most meaningful Hopewell experiences is sitting in our Women’s Wellness Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and watching the way women show up for one another. There is something powerful about how they authentically process struggles together, deepen their bonds, and learn to build healthier relationships with themselves and others. In those moments, I see the community forming a safe circle of support that extends far beyond therapy.
I’m also deeply moved whenever clients rediscover their inner strength, experience breakthroughs in therapy, find moments of calm in yoga practice, or reconnect with their families in healthier ways. Witnessing these transformations has been a dream come true for me. Dr. Kristine A.
Lauri Ingram Awakened Pathways
I’mLauri Ingram, and my journey to Awakened Pathways began with a deep spiritual awakening that urged me to look at my life from a new perspective. After more than forty years in corporate leadership, I felt called to step into a path that honored the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. I was inspired to create Awakened Pathways to help others navigate their own awakenings, life transitions, and transformations with clarity, compassion, and conscious awareness.
I integrate spiritual exploration with subconscious reprogramming, blending modalities like hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT, Reiki, and Crystal Dreaming® This unique combination allows clients to not only uncover what holds them back but to release and rewire those patterns on a subconscious level. As an interfaith minister and spiritual coach, I also bring depth, inclusivity, and ceremony into the work, creating sacred, supportive containers where lasting transformation unfolds.
One of my favorite outcomes of my journey is when a client emerges from a session visibly lighter, saying, “I feel like myself again.” Witnessing someone reclaim their authentic self, whether through a powerful breakthrough, a deep meditation, or the gentle clarity of coaching, is the heart of why I do this work. It is an honor to walk alongside others as they discover their inner wisdom, release old stories, and step into the lives they were meant to live.
For me, becoming a Confidence Coming Out Coach wasn’t just a career move—it was a calling. My own coming out journeys—as queer, nonbinary, and polyamorous—taught me how vulnerable and isolating it can feel to live outside of traditional norms. I know the fear of losing love, safety, or belonging that can happen just from showing up as yourself.
What I discovered is that “coming out” isn’t a single moment—it’s a lifelong practice of remembering who you are and choosing to live in alignment with that truth. That’s why I founded RAY Life Coaching, LLC. RAY stands for Remember Authentic You, which is the heartbeat of everything I do. My passion is helping people stop apologizing for who they are and instead step confidently into their truth, their relationships, and their lives.
My uniqueness comes from combining lived experience with a structured, research-backed process. I specialize in supporting people who are coming out as LGBTQ+, polyamorous, or otherwise living “outside the norm” to create confidence and secure ways of relating. Where many coaches offer encouragement alone, I offer a step-by-step system: the Confidence Coming Out Process and its companion Courses. These tools integrate neuroscience, the Wheel of Consent (Dr. Betty Martin), Nonviolent Communication (Marshall Rosenberg), and Integrated Attachment Theory (Thais Gibson, Personal Development School). Together, they help people move past fear, regulate their nervous systems, and reprogram limiting beliefs so they can stand firmly in their truth.
At the heart of it, I don’t just teach people to “be confident”—I show them how to build the inner trust and resilience that allows them to belong to themselves first. That belonging becomes the foundation for more authentic relationships, deeper community, and healthier love.
One of my favorite memories came from a workshop where a participant attended not for themselves, but to gain tools for their own clients. During the session, something clicked. They later came up to me and said, “I get it now—this work is about coming out and opening up on every level. It’s something that will deeply serve my clients, and it’s also strengthened my confidence in the path I’m taking with my business.”
That was a turning point for me. It showed that the Confidence Coming Out Process doesn’t just resonate personally—it ripples outward into people’s professional lives, relationships, and communities. In that moment, I knew this work was landing exactly as I had intended: helping people unlock what was stuck so they could show up more fully—in business, in love, and in life.
Ray Beyor (they/them) • Founder, RAY Life Coaching, LLC
I’mDr. Nancy Grechko, a licensed clinical psychologist and the proud founder of Grechko Training & Consulting. I have been in the mental health field for nearly twenty years, providing direct clinical care as well as supervision, consultation, and training to mental health professionals across various disciplines, both in Connecticut and around the world.
As a holistic provider, I offer the Low-Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) and red light therapy, which support mental health needs where it really counts: the nervous system. I’m passionate about supporting mental health from a holistic perspective that includes the LENS and red light therapy because I know talk therapy can only get us so far. Now, more than ever, we are looking to get to the roots of our mental health and emotional resiliency—and that means nervous system regulation. I’ve been in the mental health field for twenty years, and I’ve never seen results like this. With the LENS, we can see regulation occur in real time and achieve long-lasting, cumulative results.
As a holistic provider, I don’t focus on a diagnosis. We’ll talk about what’s getting in the way of you living the life you want. Maybe you’re having a hard time focusing at work or managing multiple demands; maybe you’re a parent who feels easily frustrated or overstimulated; maybe anxiety or low mood gets in the way of doing things you want to do; maybe you’re stuck in the therapy process or want to decrease/eliminate medication; maybe you find yourself having big reactions and you want to feel more in control; or maybe you just know life can be better. It can. The LENS can help.
I am the only psychologist in the state of Connecticut (to my knowledge) who not only has doctoral training from Yale University training programs but is also trained in technology-based holistic interventions such as the LENS and red light therapy. When you visit my practice, you receive truly compassionate, trauma-informed, science-based care tailored to your specific needs.
I am thrilled and humbled to be able to support folks who come to my office and tell me, “I’ve tried everything.” It’s truly a gift and a privilege to serve not only as a caring professional but as someone who can instill hope.

Michal Klau-Stevens Azure Psychotherapy
I’man action-oriented person, and it’s gratifying to see people experience healing in short courses of therapy.
I’m passionate about my work because it works, and my clients start to feel better fast! They love working with accelerated resolution therapy (ART) and ketamine-assisted therapy (KAP) because they work quickly to resolve trauma and treat depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I call this “less-talk therapy.”
Talk therapy has a place in my practice, but it is not the most direct way to treat some mental health issues. With ART, people find answers that feel right to them. With KAP, people break through their defenses and experience wholeness in a way that is not possible with talk therapy. With ART and KAP, clients honor spirituality and soul work, expanding on traditional mental health treatment to treat the body, mind, and spirit.
Clients use their imagination and inner resources for healing with these therapies. While the tools I use are important, my clients say our relationship and my ability to hold space for them to safely process their challenges are what they appreciate most, and improvements happen quickly.
While I rely on evidence-based treatments, I also work with them intuitively as a master trained ART therapist and certified psychedelic-assisted therapy provider. These modalities bypass painful recollections of the past in exchange for mindexpanding experiential processing that is gentler and more creative than talk therapy. People anticipate that working on their trauma or mental health issues will be a painful process involving talking about their worst moments and dredging up the past. People don’t expect laughter to be part of trauma treatment, depression, or anxiety, but joy and release are frequent during sessions. I love it when clients start smiling or laughing during ART sessions as they find creative ways to resolve their challenges. Seeing KAP clients move from being depressed, with a heaviness about them, to being happier, more grounded, joyful, and lighter in spirit brings some of my best reminiscences about the work I do.

Laura Manderino-Martins May You Find Peace Counseling & Wellness
Iam so passionate about my specialty because I truly believe mental health affects every aspect of a person’s life. I became a holistic therapist— and hired phenomenal holistic providers to join my group—because I saw firsthand the effect chronic illness and pain have on the nervous system, and in turn, the mind and soul. The reverse of this is also true: imbalances in our chemistry, that display as, say, anxiety and depression, can also cause physical pain in our body. It can become a vicious cycle, and oftentimes, people do not feel heard, as traditional medicine tends to downplay physical symptoms as “just anxiety,” when they are very real and very uncomfortable. I wanted to create a safe place where people are heard, understood, and valued. What you feel is real, and knowing your provider hears you and believes you is an integral part of feeling safe enough to tell your story and heal. I often say that I want to change the landscape of healthcare. That is a huge undertaking—I am not naive to how difficult that may be. However, I always say we will do what we can from our corner of the world. We continually enact change, one person at a time, and that breaks the status quo.
As a true holistic therapy practice, when we say “holistic,” we mean it. We live it every day, in the way we see each client as a whole person. When someone comes to us with anxiety, for example, we don’t just look at their daily symptoms; we ask how they got there. Our therapists provide thorough assessments to include assessing for trauma and possible physical explanations for symptoms. Our APRNs thoroughly evaluate each client, not just through questioning, but also through lab work to assess thyroid levels, vitamin levels, and hormone imbalances. We know one size does not fit all, and we know that anxiety doesn’t exist for just one reason.
We offer Reiki and nutrition consultations, providing integrative, wraparound services that allow clients to explore their symptoms deeply and thoroughly, while receiving multiple options for coping skills and comfort. We not only work with our clients, but we also teach them ways to engage in healthier living and skills that can help them in their daily lives when symptoms arrive. We bring together traditional counseling methods with evidence-based treatments, including CBT, EMDR, and IFS therapy. We are highly trained in the most sought-after and evidence-based models, in addition to highly specialized models, including somatic experiencing for anxiety and pain, and ICBT and ERP for obsessive-compulsive disorder.
We also use advanced resources, such as Genesite DNA testing, to match medications to a client’s unique genetic makeup, check vitamin and hormone levels that impact mental health, and offer complementary healing approaches, such as Reiki, when the client would like extra support.
My soul lights up when someone tells us they feel heard here, and they believe they can get better, and feel safe with us. Feeling safe in your body and mind, with us, in our offices—or through a screen via telehealth—is a big step toward healing, and if we are the people who make someone feel safe, so they can heal and create the life they dream of, that is the honor of a lifetime.

Helping women create successful careers they’re proud of—while living healthier, happier, more fulfilling lives they love: This is my dream—and my reality.
For decades, I worked as a corporate HR executive, guiding leaders and developing teams. What I learned is that professional success doesn’t automatically equal fulfillment. Many high-achieving women find themselves exhausted, lonely in leadership, and quietly asking: Is this all there is? That’s when the inner work starts and the midlifeawakening begins.
Helping women build careers they’re proud of—successful, sustainable, and aligned with who they truly are. Alongside professional development and career planning, I guide them through the personal transformations that make achievement meaningful: growing emotional intelligence, navigating identity shifts of midlife, and managing the challenges of perimenopause and menopause. The result is not just success at work, but freedom, peace, and a life they genuinely love.
Through my Longview Vitality framework, I blend career and mindset coaching with rapid transformational therapy (RTT) and high-performance self-care protocols. These are built around the DRESSS system—diet, rest, exercise, stress relief, social connection, and supplements. This combination removes limiting subconscious patterns while giving women practical tools to thrive in every dimension of their lives.
The outcome? Clients don’t just move up in their careers and financial power. They feel healthier, freer, and more fulfilled—living in alignment with their deepest values.
RTT for mindset coaching works so effectively because it is a hybrid method that integrates hypnotherapy, neuroscience, and therapeutic coaching. By working with the subconscious mind, it rewires beliefs that fuel perfectionism, imposter syndrome, burnout, or anxiety. Most clients notice lasting change in just one to three sessions, describing themselves as lighter, clearer, more relaxed, and more confident—both at work and at home.
My work is set apart not only by my decades of corporate leadership and career development expertise, but also by my true gift—creating a safe, intuitive space where women feel profoundly seen. From there, they can release old patterns, reconnect with themselves, and design success on their own terms. My clients achieve more than career growth—they experience health, balance, and the freedom to live a life they love.
A perfect example of this is a woman who came to me burdened by stress, identity struggles, and emotional eating. After just one RTT session, she said: “I don’t just feel different—I am different. I can finally relax, and I feel the mindset shift you described.” This was a key moment that has stayed with me and exemplifies the importance and effectiveness of my work. Moments like this remind me that true high performance isn’t about doing more—it’s about aligning career success with personal fulfillment.
When women achieve both, they stop merely surviving—and start leading, living, and loving fully.
I’mCourtney McMahon, founder of The Radical Wellness, where I help women break free from gray-area drinking and step into lives of clarity, confidence, and alignment.
In 2019, I experienced a profound turning point. During meditation, I heard a clear message: If you stop drinking, your whole life will change. That guidance lit something inside me, and I made the brave decision to heal my relationship with alcohol. What began as a personal commitment soon revealed itself as a calling. Initially, I worked as a holistic health coach, but nearly every client who sought me out wanted support in navigating their drinking. I realized the Universe was pointing me toward my true path—helping women discover the freedom of living alcohol-free.
What differentiates my approach is the blend of expertise and lived experience I bring to this work. My background in holistic health, addictive behavior coaching, and rapid resolution therapy (RRT) forms the foundation of my practice. But it is my own journey through sobriety that gives me perspective and empathy.
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, my mission is to empower women to rebuild trust with themselves, listen to their intuition, and create alcohol-free lives that feel easeful, sustainable, and aligned with who they truly are.
The most rewarding part of my work is witnessing transformation unfold. When a client achieves a goal they once thought impossible, deepens their connection with themselves, or unlocks a new level of success—all because they chose to remove alcohol—it reaffirms why I do this work. Sobriety is not just about what you give up; it is about everything you gain in the process.

Iampassionate about my work as a holistic practitioner because I know how it feels to be disconnected from myself and from nature— and how transformative it is to find a way back. My path has led me through the corporate world and nonprofit leadership. Still, it has always been the practices of yoga, meditation, forest therapy, and women’s circles that brought me home when experiencing struggles.
Becoming a holistic practitioner was not a career move as much as a calling—a way to share the tools, rituals, and spaces that have helped me and countless others pause, listen, and remember who they are.
What sets me apart is the way I weave together professional coaching with earth-centered practices and community gatherings. My work is rooted in both structure and spirit—I hold space that is grounded and accessible, while also inviting myth, nature, and ceremony. I call this balance “roots and wings”: helping people stay grounded while also expanding into possibility.
One of my favorite memories is guiding a women’s circle by the river. As we opened, two great blue herons flew past, and we all paused in awe, sensing a gift in what we had just witnessed. At the end, after quiet reflection, as each woman shared their experience, the herons returned, punctuating the circle with grace. I asked each woman to reflect on what the herons might mean to them. The forest seemed to hold the circle, reminding me that when people gather with intention, healing and unexpected beauty naturally unfold.
It is awe-inspiring to watch clients inhabit more of their true nature after feeling and fighting through storms of overwhelm and distress. Often, they will report feeling calmer and having more capacity to navigate life.
As old hurts heal and lose their grip, more of our true selves can be embodied, and that cascades into every aspect of our lives, down to what movies, foods, and people we are drawn to. There is no separation between inner and outer. As we heal, our outer life reflects the inner landscape. It doesn’t happen overnight, but old addictions or compulsions in terms of substances, triggers, habits, and so on can begin to fall away as the gravitational pull of such forces lessens. What suited a version of oneself that was battered and bruised by life can be replaced by choices and experiences that reflect one’s true nature and essence. It is a process of healing that requires the courageous participation of the individual who, in time, can reach a threshold point where holding on to old narratives of pain and victimization loses its grip. There is now capacity, courage, and desire to embrace the authentic version of oneself—wiser, deeper, and enriched by all the experiences one has had.
The technique I use is Eidetic Imagery, an evidence-based ancient practice that gives one access to deep (unconscious) currents of emotion, essence, and intuition. It’s a highly effective way of concretizing a problem situation into vivid images (think scenes from a movie) that can be accessed, walked around, and magnified where stuck and frozen old hurts and pains get examined, worked on, and metabolized to enable a healing elixir to flow into the mind and body. The soul-heart-mind-body connection is one—it is true holism.
My clients are typically in their mid-to-late 30s and older, a time when, for some, the surge of life that yearns to be lived and expressed surfaces, and old ways of quieting that voice no longer work. Distress usually shows up as depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. Clients across from me often experience a shift from more contracted states of victimization, anger (toward self and others), or overwhelm to their unique natural states of well-being. It’s so beautiful when clients see eidetic images, which are both visual and visceral, and integrate their true grandeur and beauty, which in turn changes how their energies flow. I remember a client session whose entire body posture and energy changed as she accessed a fractal of her essential nature. Her spine lengthened, and she began to radiate light and beauty. Breathtaking!
Regeneration (vs. degeneration) is real, and transformation is possible. I hold a high level of care for the well-being of my clients and a passion for their growth. Because of my history and devotion to healing, I carry a vibration of being strong while kind and soft at the same time. I sense that people feel safe and nourished in my presence, and they may be surprised by how quickly their deeply buried feelings surface in a highly attuned therapeutic container.
Asan aromatherapist, I’ve always believed in the profound ability of scent to transform our lives. My personal journey with essential oils was deeply influenced by the healing power of Litsea (also called May Chang), a vibrant and refreshing oil renowned for its capacity to clear both physical and emotional clutter. During a retreat in Sedona, Arizona, for Wisdom of the Earth, I had a vision of Litsea sweeping through my home, catalyzing a significant overhaul in my life. The transformation was palpable, encouraging me to embrace change and release what no longer served me.
Over the next year, I followed Litsea’s lead, using it in my diffuser, spraying it around my home, applying it on my body, and adding it to my cleaning products. Breathing in its refreshing scent inspired me to embrace its powerful and loving energy. I began clearing out needless clutter, broken items, things that no longer fit, and much more. I felt liberated watching material items seem to dance into the cardboard box in the corner of the room and effortlessly find new homes.
This journey was not just a physical overhaul, but also an emotional one. I found myself meditating and stretching in the newly open spaces of my home. I immediately began releasing heavy thoughts and habits that no longer served me. I felt lighter, as if something old had been lifted and cleared. I began to magnetize the things that I had been wanting in my life.
A Client’s Journey to Peace
In my coaching practice, I offer essential oils to clients as tools for envisioning the person they aspire to be. These oils are more than just scents; they are catalysts for change, helping to manifest the future they desire. One memorable client came to me struggling with a strained relationship with a family member. Seeking peace and reconciliation, we discovered the power of lemon essential oil.
Each morning, she used lemon oil to meditate, focusing on the grounding and supportive relationship she wished to cultivate with her sister. Lemon is known for its uplifting scent and also offers a layer of protection and comfort, much like the peel used to make lemon essential oil.
Transformation Through the Power of Scent: My Journey with Essential Oils
The scent also evoked fond memories of a childhood lemonade stand she shared with her sister, a time when their bond was strong and joyful. For twenty-one days, she practiced meditating and visualizing their relationship as peaceful. The results were astounding. Not only did she find peace within herself, but her relationship with her sister was also transformed, reflecting the harmony she had envisioned.
Harnessing the Power of Scent Memory
Our sense of smell is intricately linked to memory, more so than any other sense. This connection makes medicinal essential oils powerful tools in evoking the emotions we wish to foster within ourselves. In my practice, I have guided many individuals through the process of using essential oils to bring their desired life closer. These oils serve as a bridge, connecting us to the deep, transformative work of personal growth. Essential oils are not just fragrances; they are reminders of the joy and satisfaction we seek. By engaging with these scents, we align ourselves with our true desires, fostering a life filled with greater joy and fulfillment. The process is simple yet profound, offering a path to self-discovery and healing.

When Your Space Heals with You
“Color becomes medicine. Texture becomes a form of communication. Light, openness, and subtle shifts in spatial flow recalibrate how the body feels in the space and how the mind and spirit respond.”
—MaryGrace Peak
By MaryGrace Peak, Founder of Energy and Grace
There is a quiet intelligence in every space we inhabit. Sometimes it shows up as a sense of peace the moment we step through the door. At other times, it reveals itself through tension, restlessness, clutter, or an invisible weight that we cannot quite name.
For high performers, visionaries, and seekers— those constantly shifting into the next version of themselves—it’s easy to overlook the environments they inhabit. However, the truth is that our homes and workspaces are living ecosystems. They speak. They hold memory. And when we tend to them with intention, they become potent allies in personal transformation.
I work with individuals who are ready to design a life of deeper alignment. Through a refined fusion of Feng Shui design, energy healing, and spiritual aesthetic consulting, I help my clients create spaces that not only support high-functioning lives but also nourish the soul beneath the ambition.
This work is for those who want more than a beautiful space. It is for those who sense how their surroundings affect them —energetically, emotionally, and even spiritually.
Design That Works on Multiple Levels
As a certified Feng Shui designer and quantum energy practitioner, I’ve come to understand that our homes are not just physical structures. They are energetic mirrors, reflecting not only our current state of being but also shaping what is
possible for our growth, healing, and alignment. Clients come to me at pivotal moments: launching a new chapter; seeking creative clarity; recovering from burnout; or calling in love, purpose, or expansion. The desire is rarely just about the space. It’s about self-reinvention. The environment for that change must match the frequency of what they are becoming.
When we work together, I assess more than style or layout. I tune into the energetic signature of your space. I use 9 Star Ki astrology to create a customized environment that aligns with the client’s true nature. I detect where energy is stagnant and what elements are depleting vitality or blocking momentum. I then design an intentional plan that integrates their unique aesthetic with energetically supportive Feng Shui, personalized color palettes, and intuitive decor placement. Each decision becomes a symbolic yet practical step toward greater alignment.
The Energetics of Elegance
My clients have said to me, “I’m loving the energies throughout my home,” “My little home feels so magical,” or “During our office clearing, I kid you not, I saw black smoke leave the room!” That is by design. We create a deeply personal experience of self-discovery through the entire process. Careful furniture selection catered to the unique client means that I see the space through a completely different lens. Color becomes medicine.
Texture becomes a form of communication. Light, openness, and subtle shifts in spatial flow recalibrate how the body feels in the space and how the mind and spirit respond.
Through quantum energy-infused clearings and intuitive spatial work, I help cleanse emotional residue and energetic imprints that may be lingering unseen. Many clients report increased clarity, better rest, emotional release, and even breakthroughs in business or relationships after our work together. This isn’t a surface-level makeover. It is a reattunement of the physical world to match the frequency of your highest self.
Who This Work Is For
You are likely drawn to this work if you have achieved success but want deeper fulfillment. You may crave peace, but live in a space that feels overstimulating or cluttered. You may be expanding spiritually, but are still anchored to an environment that reflects an old version of you. If you are a therapist, healer, or anyone who works with vulnerable populations, and you would like your clinic, healing center, or personal office to vibrate at the highest level and most beneficial frequency, we also offer commercial spaces.
If you find yourself saying:
“I need my space to reflect where I’m going, not where I’ve been”;
“I’ve outgrown this version of my home, and maybe, myself”;
“I want a space that actually supports my nervous system”; it may be time to align your outer world with your inner evolution.
The Invitation
This work is more than design. It’s about embodiment. When your environment is tuned to the frequency of your truth, you show up with more clarity, capacity, and grace.
Whether you’re redesigning a home office for expansion, calling in deeper intimacy, or creating a sanctuary for your next chapter, it is my joy to beautifully guide that process. From the moment your space supports your soul, everything begins to shift.

The Skin–Mind Connection: How Professional Skin Care Supports Mental Well-Being
By Cheryl V., Licensed Esthetician
I“Stress shows up on our skin. When we’re overwhelmed, our body releases more cortisol, which can trigger breakouts, redness, dullness, or sensitivity. Over time, this can lead to premature aging or exacerbate chronic skin conditions. Skin concerns can, in turn, affect confidence and self-esteem— fueling a cycle of stress.”
—Cheryl V., Licensed Esthetician
n today’s busy world, self-care is often the first thing we sacrifice when schedules get tight. Yet research consistently shows that regular self-care isn’t just a luxury—it’s essential for mental and emotional resilience. While many people associate massage with primary stress relief, advanced skin care services can also play a significant role in enhancing mood, reducing anxiety, and restoring balance.
At Massage Envy, we see every day how skin care and wellness intersect. When you invest time in targeted, results-driven treatments, you’re not only addressing surface concerns like fine lines, acne, or uneven tone—you’re also nurturing your mind and spirit.
Why Skin Care Is Self-Care
Stress shows up on our skin. When we’re overwhelmed, our body releases more cortisol, which can trigger breakouts, redness, dullness, or sensitivity. Over time, this can lead to premature aging or exacerbate chronic skin conditions. Skin concerns can, in turn, affect confidence and self-esteem—fueling a cycle of stress.
Professional treatments interrupt that cycle. They offer:
• A sensory reset: Calming touch, soothing aromas, and a peaceful environment quiet the nervous system.
• Visible improvements: Seeing real results in the mirror can restore self-confidence and positive self-image.
• A mindfulness moment: An hour where you’re fully present, unplugged, and cared for.
It’s not just about beauty—it’s about mental clarity, emotional grounding, and feeling like your best self.
Results-Driven Services for Mind and Skin
Our Results-Driven Skin Care menu was designed to address specific concerns with treatments that also deliver a mental refresh. Whether you want to smooth fine lines, balance uneven tone, calm irritated skin, brighten dullness, or clarify acne, we have targeted solutions.
Our most popular results-driven options include:
• Age-defying: Addresses fine lines and loss of firmness with treatments that leave skin smoother and more youthful-looking.
• Tone-balancing: Reduces the look of discoloration for a more even complexion.
• Clarifying acne: Targets breakouts and helps prevent future ones.
• Brightening: Restores a healthy glow, perfect for dull or tired skin.
• Calming: Reduces visible redness and soothes sensitive skin.
These can be provided as a facial, chemical peel, or nourishing light treatment—with the right service recommended based on your goals and skin type.
The Science of Skin and Stress
Dermatology and psychology are increasingly intertwined in what’s known as psychodermatology. Studies show that improving skin health can improve mood and even decrease perceived stress levels. Treatments like gentle facials or light therapy activate the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting the body out of “fight or flight” and into a state of deep relaxation. Chemical peels and advanced facials not only address visible skin issues but also provide an intentional pause in your day—an opportunity to breathe, reset, and walk out feeling renewed.
A Holistic Wellness Partnership
At Massage Envy, we believe self-care is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why every service begins with a skin care consultation to understand your unique needs—not just for your skin, but for your lifestyle and stress level.
Meet with an esthetician to discover your type of skin, discuss your skin concerns, and create an individualized plan to help you attain your goals to:
•reduce visible signs of stress on your skin
• build confidence through improved skin tone and texture
•enjoy a regular ritual of self-care that supports mental wellness year-round
When paired with regular massage therapy, professional skin care becomes part of a wholebody wellness plan—addressing both how you feel and how you look.
Make Time for YOU This Fall
Autumn is a season of transition. As the weather cools, the air becomes drier, and the pace of life often quickens. It’s also a time when skin can become more sensitive and stress levels rise as we head into the holidays.
Scheduling regular skin care this fall can:
•Protect your skin from seasonal dryness and irritation
•Keep your complexion bright as daylight hours shorten
•Provide a built-in stress-relief ritual during a busy season
Just one hour in our care can help you emerge not only with healthier skin but also with a calmer mind—ready to face the world with confidence. Whether you’re new to professional skin care or ready to take your results to the next level, I invite you to experience how a targeted, results-driven treatment can benefit your skin— and your state of mind.

When“If
you’re reading this and feel the weight of hiding, I want you to know: you are not broken for feeling stressed, anxious, or lonely. You’re carrying something heavy…. Each time you allow yourself to come out—whether in a big declaration or a small choice—you set down part of that weight.”
—Ray Beyor
Coming Out, Confidence, and the Weight We Carry
people hear “coming out,” they often think of it as a single moment: you tell the world you’re LGBTQ+, polyamorous, or otherwise different, and then you’re done. But that hasn’t been my experience. Coming out has been less about one conversation and more about an ongoing practice of showing up—again and again—with honesty and courage.
For years, I didn’t realize how heavy it was to live in hiding. I had gotten so used to shrinking, people-pleasing, and contorting myself into what others expected that the stress of it all felt normal. My body told a different story. Chronic pain, tension headaches, and a constant undercurrent of anxiety were my companions. I thought I was managing stress—but in reality, I was surviving under the weight of not being fully me.
The Mental Health Toll of Shrinking Yourself
Research confirms what many of us already know: when we suppress who we are, our nervous system pays the price. Hypervigilance, shallow breathing, muscle tension—our bodies stay in a loop of fight, flight, or freeze. My loop looked like this: smile, nod, agree, apologize, repeat. Outwardly, I looked composed; inwardly, I was exhausted.
The truth is, hiding takes energy. Stress doesn’t only come from “bad things” happening—it also comes from holding back our authentic selves. Loneliness, disconnection, and self-doubt creep in, even when we’re surrounded by people who care.
Coming Out as Stress Relief
When I began to come out—to myself first, and then to others—the change was not instant. It was shaky, awkward, and marked by frequent backand-forth. But slowly, something shifted. I realized that confidence wasn’t about being loud or unshakable. It was about giving myself permission to stop apologizing for who I was.
Each time I spoke my truth—whether about being nonbinary, about loving more than one person, or about wanting something different from the “norm”—I noticed my body relax. My shoulders softened. My breath came easier. Coming out became not just about identity, but about stress reduction. It was a way to stop carrying what wasn’t mine and start trusting what was inside me.
Tools That Supported My Mental Health
Along the way, I developed and now teach tools that combine neuroscience, attachment theory, and nonviolent communication to help people rebuild confidence and reduce the stress of hiding.
A few of the most practical ones include:
• Taking inventory (Where are you starting from?): Pausing to notice what’s happening in my body—tightness in the chest, a knot in the stomach—and connecting those sensations to emotions and needs. Stress often signals unmet needs, and naming them is the first step to relief.
• Containerizing (boundaries): Instead of letting conflicts or emotions sprawl endlessly, I learned to create clear beginnings and endings. “I can talk about this for 20 minutes and then take a break.” Such boundaries prevent overwhelm and restore a sense of safety.
• A rmations (reprogramming beliefs): Many of the beliefs that fueled my stress—such as “You’ll be alone if you stand up for your boundaries” or “You’ll be trapped if you give in and admit you hurt someone”—weren’t entirely true. Affirmations challenge these ingrained messages by drawing on our own memories and experiences. They help disprove the old narratives that stand in the way of coming out confidently and standing in our truth.
These tools are not about becoming someone new; they’re about returning home to yourself with less tension, less fear, and more ease.
Confidence as an Antidote to Loneliness
At its core, confidence is not about bravado. It’s about the quiet relief of belonging to yourself. When we are confident, we don’t have to over-explain, over-apologize, or chase validation. We can rest in knowing: I am allowed to be here, exactly as I am.
And that kind of confidence is not only good for mental health—it’s essential. Stress falls away when we’re no longer fighting ourselves. Loneliness loosens its grip when we know our own company is enough. Coming out, then, becomes more than identity. It becomes medicine for our nervous system.
A Closing Invitation
If you’re reading this and feel the weight of hiding, I want you to know: you are not broken for feeling stressed, anxious, or lonely. You’re carrying something heavy. And there is another way. Each time you allow yourself to come out— whether in a big declaration or a small choice— you set down part of that weight.
Confidence isn’t about becoming fearless. It’s about breathing more fully, living more honestly, and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can meet the world without shrinking.
And that, I believe, is the truest form of stress relief there is.

Don’t Let Overuse Injuries Sideline Your Fall Activities: An Integrative Approach to Keeping You in the Game
By Dr. Dana Lapointe, ND, LMT, CHt, CMWC
Connecticut’s
stunning fall foliage draws thousands to hiking trails, while golfers extend their season into November, and tennis courts stay busy until the first frost. But for many adults, overuse injuries threaten to sideline them just when they want to be most active.
As an ND in Connecticut, I see a predictable surge of patients each fall with injuries that have been building all season long. When conventional medical solutions (pain meds, steroid injections, or surgery) have been ineffective, seem too invasive, or have too much projected downtime to feel like good options, patients seek out natural alternatives. I’m happy to offer a better way than simply masking pain or accepting that “this is just part of getting older.”
The active adults I treat share remarkably similar stories. The hiker whose knee pain started as a minor twinge but now threatens weekend trail adventures. The pickleball player whose shoulder ache has progressed from painful serving to loss of sleep. The golfer whose elbow discomfort now extends into daily activities.
Although occasionally these are acute injuries from single incidents, they’re most often the cumulative result of repetitive stress, inadequate recovery, and underlying imbalances that conventional approaches miss.
Common overuse injuries I treat:
• Tennis and golfer’s elbow from racquet sports
• Plantar fasciitis from hiking and running
• Shoulder impingement from swimming, tennis, and pickleball
• IT band syndrome from biking and hiking
• Lower back strain in weekend warriors with poor movement and postural patterns
Conventional Approaches Fall Short
Here’s the typical trajectory: pain develops, patients try “RICE” (rest, ice, compression, and elevation), anti-inflammatory medications, and may receive a cortisone shot. When pain returns,
they’re told to avoid the activity. This reactive approach misses the bigger picture.
Pain is rarely just about injured tissue. It’s often a symptom of deeper imbalances:
• Nutritional deficiencies and metabolic dysregulation that impair healing
• Chronic inflammation from diet and lifestyle choices
• Biomechanical issues that create compensatory movements
Treating only symptoms while ignoring root causes virtually guarantees the problem will return, even with the most “heroic” conventional measures.
The Integrative Advantage
My approach combines cutting-edge regenerative technology with naturopathic principles to address both the injury itself and the underlying contributing factors.
My comprehensive naturopathic assessment starts with functional testing to evaluate inflammation markers, nutrient status, and other factors that impact tissue healing. For example, a chronic magnesium deficiency will make an athlete more prone to muscle cramps and slower recovery, regardless of their training regimen.
Nutritional optimization reduces inflammatory foods while emphasizing nutrients that support collagen synthesis and cellular repair. This includes targeted protocols incorporating curcumin, omega-3 fatty acids, and other supplements tailored to individual needs identified through testing.
Advanced regenerative therapy accelerates healing. I use StemWave therapy, the breakthrough acoustic wave technology that stimulates natural healing mechanisms at the cellular level. Unlike treatments that merely manage or mask symptoms, StemWave promotes tissue regeneration by increasing blood flow, breaking down scar tissue, and activating stem cells. Patients often see significant improvement within just a few sessions.
Movement pattern correction prevents reinjury. Many overuse injuries stem from biomechanical or postural imbalances that develop over time. I assess posture and movement patterns, prescribe exercise therapeutics, and collaborate with skilled physical therapists to address these underlying issues.
Prevention Is Your Best Investment
• Listen to early warning signals. Minor stiffness or occasional aches are often your body’s way of asking for attention before issues become major problems.
• Maintain year-round conditioning. Weekend warriors who suddenly ramp up activity are prime candidates for overuse injuries. Consistent, moderate activity serves you better than sporadic, intense sessions.
• Prioritize recovery. Quality sleep, stress management, and proper nutrition aren’t luxuries—they’re essential for injury prevention.
• Address imbalances early. Regular assessment of movement patterns and postural imbalances can identify problems before they manifest as pain.
The Path Forward
Today, active adults don’t have to choose between activities they love and a pain-free life. By addressing injuries at their root cause and supporting your body’s natural healing mechanisms, you really can overcome current limitations and prevent future problems. Your body has remarkable healing potential when given the proper support.
The combination of an advanced regenerative therapy, such as StemWave, with comprehensive naturopathic care, offers a path back to the activities you love—and the confidence that you’re building a foundation for long-term musculoskeletal health.
If you’re dealing with a nagging injury that’s keeping you from your favorite activities, consider a non-invasive, comprehensive, naturopathic approach that addresses root causes and leads to regenerative healing. Your active lifestyle is worth the investment.
Dr Dana Lapointe is a passionate advocate for innovative, noninvasive treatments and has been at the forefront of bringing StemWave therapy to her community. Practicing in CT since 2010, she offers telemedicine, online coaching, and group wellness programs. She specializes in lifestyle medicine for chronic conditions (especially those involving the gut, skin, weight, and pain syndromes), and mental wellness coaching for those seeking alternatives to pharmaceutical mental health interventions. Bridging Worlds: My Journey to a Functional Endocrinology Practice
By Dr. Michael Duben, MD
A“I’ll
never abandon this scientific rigor. It’s the backbone of my practice and a cornerstone of patient trust. Lab science doesn’t lie, and neither do the clinical guidelines that have been refined over generations. But as powerful as this model is, it’s not the whole picture.”
—Dr.
Michael Duben, MD
s a board-certified endocrinologist, I’ve spent years immersed in the world of hormones—those tiny chemical messengers that wield enormous influence over our health. From thyroid disorders to diabetes, adrenal imbalances to reproductive challenges, I’ve seen firsthand how disruptions in the endocrine system can ripple through every aspect of a person’s life. For much of my career, I practiced traditional endocrinology, relying on evidence-based protocols, cutting-edge lab science, and pharmaceutical interventions to manage these conditions. It’s a model grounded in rigor, precision, and decades of research—and it works wonders for many patients.
But over time, I began to notice something. While traditional medicine excels at diagnosing and treating symptoms, it often stops short of asking a critical question: Why? Why is this patient’s thyroid underperforming? Why are their blood sugar levels spiraling despite medication? Why do they still feel exhausted, foggy, or unwell, even when their labs look “normal”? These questions nagged at me, and they led me to explore a different approach—one that complements the strengths of traditional endocrinology with a deeper, more holistic lens. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce the opening of my new functional endocrinology practice, where I combine the best of both worlds to deliver care that’s as scientifically sound as it is deeply personal.
The Power of Traditional Endocrinology
Traditional endocrinology is built on a foundation of hard science—peer-reviewed studies, advanced diagnostics, and a meticulous understanding of how hormones interact with every system in the body. When a patient walks into my office with, say, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, I can order precise lab tests to measure thyroid hormone levels, antibodies, and other markers. I can interpret those results through the lens of decades of research and prescribe treatments that are proven to stabilize those numbers. This approach is invaluable, especially in acute cases where swift, targeted intervention is needed.
I’ll never abandon this scientific rigor. It’s the backbone of my practice and a cornerstone of patient trust. Lab science doesn’t lie, and neither do the clinical guidelines that have been refined over generations. But as powerful as this model is, it’s not the whole picture.
The Promise of Functional Medicine
Enter functional medicine—a framework that asks us to zoom out and look at the patient as a whole person, not just a collection of lab values. Where traditional endocrinology might focus on adjusting thyroid medication, functional medicine digs deeper: Could gut inflammation be driving that autoimmune response? Are nutrient deficiencies or chronic stress throwing off hormone production? What about environmental toxins or sleep patterns? Functional medicine focuses on identifying the root causes of disease, rather than merely managing its downstream effects.
What drew me to this approach was its insistence on personalization. In the traditional model, time spent with patients is often limited—typically 10 to 15 minutes, if you’re lucky. That’s barely enough to review labs and tweak a prescription, let alone explore the nuances of someone’s life. In my functional endocrinology practice, I flip that script. I spend alotof time with my patients—over an hour in our initial consultation. We talk about everything: their diet, stress levels, sleep habits, family history, and even their emotional well-being. This isn’t fluff—it’s data. The more I understand about what’s happening in a patient’s world, the better equipped I am to pinpoint what’s happening in their body.
A Hybrid Approach for Better Outcomes
So, what does this hybrid of traditional and functional endocrinology look like in practice? Imagine a patient comes to a doctor with type 2 diabetes. In the traditional model, the doctor would check their A1C, fasting glucose, and lipid panel, then prescribe oral medication(s), GLP-1 agents, statins, or insulin to bring those numbers
down. And that’s a great start—it’s evidence-based and effective. But in my functional practice, I don’t stop there. I also order advanced labs to assess insulin resistance, inflammation markers, and nutrient status. I ask about their diet, exercise habits, and stress levels. Depending on the issues we discover during this process, we develop a plan that may include medication, targeted nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle adjustments.
This blend delivers results that neither approach could achieve on its own. The scientific precision of traditional endocrinology ensures we’re addressing the immediate hormonal imbalances with proven tools. The functional lens ensures we’re not just putting a Band-Aid on the problem but genuinely healing the underlying drivers. I’ve seen patients who’ve struggled for years—bouncing between specialists, feeling unheard—finally turn a corner when we take this integrated path. Their energy comes back. Their labs stabilize. They feel like themselves again.
Why This Matters to Me—and to You
Opening this functional endocrinology practice is the culmination of years of learning, listening, and evolving as a physician. I’m not here to reject traditional medicine—its strengths are undeniable, and I lean on them every day. But I also believe we can do better for patients by pairing that expertise with the curiosity and compassion of functional medicine. My goal is simple: to help you feel your best, not just “normal” on paper. Whether you’re battling hypothyroidism, PCOS, adrenal fatigue, or any other endocrine challenge, I’m here to meet you where you are—with the time, the tools, and the tenacity to get to the root of it.
If you’re curious about what this hybrid approach could mean for your health, I’d love to sit down with you (for a good, long while!) and figure it out together. Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about hormones—it’s about helping you live a fuller, healthier life.

DR.ZACHARY MORAN Naturopathic Doctor
VARANO Naturopathic Doctor, Registered Nurse
SOUTHBURY’S PREMIER SPA
Meet Psychic Agnes Daddona!
An Interview with Dr. Di
By Agnes Daddona and Dr. Diane Hayden
“I
look into my client’s soul history, soul purpose, soul lessons, wounds, traumas, and gifts and talents. By doing that, my client can gain a bigger picture of themselves and their life journey. The healing and transformation can happen much faster this way.”
—Agnes Daddona,
MA, Psychic Medium Counselor
Irecently had the opportunity to work with Agnes Daddona, a Psychic whose Holistic Spa and Intuitive Counseling services are based out of Avon, CT. After that incredible experience, I decided I wanted to reach out to learn more about her background and her practice (my comments are in bold).
How are you different from other psychics out there?
I am not only a psychic. I am also a Medium, Counselor, Healer, Life Coach, and Spiritual Teacher, so I can help my clients in many ways. I have a unique gift of intuition, which has run in my family for generations, from my grandmother to my mother to me.
Another factor that makes me different is that I am highly educated. I received my master’s degree in sociology in human behavior. My other areas of study are psychology, art therapy, and theology, and I have earned over thirty certifications in healing arts. All of this enables me to establish a good therapeutic foundation for my clients.
I worked with you, so I can attest to that for sure! From my perspective, what makes you different is that, compared to other psychics I have been to, sometimes they will only give you the information. And with you, there is healing, soul lessons, and teachings. You are helping that individual to integrate things and grow.
That’s for sure! I specialize in removing the roots of traumas, blocks, and fears. I also love activating my clients’ soul purpose, gifts, and full potential so they can manifest their biggest dreams. I offer my clients a kaleidoscope of enhanced services, treatments, and products to help them continue their healing journey.
What’s the difference between a psychic and a medium?
A psychic is a gifted person who can see the future. A medium is someone who can communicate with loved ones on the other side. I am lucky to have both these skills.
Why are your Intuitive Readings so popular? I know you have a thriving business based on word of mouth.
From the very first moment, I focus on answering my client’s biggest questions and connecting them to their angels, spirit guides, and loved ones on the other side. To clarify, every soul has this Divine support.
I have a holistic approach, addressing physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual levels. I look into my client’s soul history, soul purpose, soul lessons, wounds, traumas, and gifts and talents. By doing that, my client can gain a bigger picture of themselves and their life journey. The healing and transformation can happen much faster this way. It’s important to know how it looks on the other side to navigate this side better.
Why do you do your work?
I am an old soul who received a calling to help people (and the planet) heal and thrive. I love people! My work is my passion and joy. I have experienced many hardships, so I understand what my clients are going through. People come to me not only to ask about their future but also to find solutions to the issues and problems in their lives.
How do your clients succeed with your support?
My clients are both women and men, and I also work with teenagers and children, especially sensitive ones. My clients gain clarity about their life, activate their higher soul purpose, heal, manifest soulmate relationships, find a better job, make more money, balance their life, and most importantly, manifest their dreams and a happier life.
What is required from your new clients when they come to a reading for the first time?
I always recommend that my clients write their questions down to prepare for their intuitive reading. I offer in-person sessions at my spa in Avon. I also do phone and Zoom sessions. During the phone or Zoom sessions, I only need my client’s date of birth to access their energy. In-person and virtual sessions work essentially the same way.
Agnes Daddona, MA, Intuitive Counseling, is one of the best Psychic/ Mediums and healers in New England. The gift of intuition has run in her family for generations. Bring More Conscious Awareness to Your Life
“Being present means being aware of your thoughts and triggers. It means choosing your words from a space of neutrality, not judgment. The present requires you to stop and smell the roses— without guilt.”
—Katie Cavenagh
By Katie Cavenagh
Conscious awareness is the ability to be present in both your outer surroundings and your inner world. It reflects the stillness within your words, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and actions. It means you’re aware of your own patterns, conditioning, pain, and triggers, and can communicate openly about your feelings and needs.
Many of us don’t tap into our consciousness because we were never made aware of it. Maybe growing up there was a lack of emotional intelligence and connection, or emotional repression. Often, there are expectations of how to behave in society, and we play along. There’s plenty of propaganda to keep us distracted from the powerful energy we have access to. Bringing more conscious awareness to your life requires effort, but it is easier than you might think. Here are a few ways to get started.
Notice Your Feelings
Noticing your feelings helps to dissipate energy that gets stuck when we hold on to emotions rather than letting them work through us. The more we can notice our feelings, the more aware we will become when we are triggered and start reacting on autopilot.
Those knee-jerk reactions (like cursing obscenities at the car that cut you off) are unconscious reactions that the body has been conditioned to use. Noticing how you feel in these types of experiences provides a pathway for healing the underlying pattern.
Awareness is what sets the healing process in motion and starts the journey to freedom. Becoming aware of your feelings will also provide insight into how your thoughts, words, actions, and beliefs are all interconnected.
Be Present
The present moment is often overlooked as just a means to an end. We’re always trying to be somewhere other than this very moment. The to-do list, ruminating about the past, worrying about the future, and numbing are all ways we run from the present. Sometimes it’s conscious, many times it’s not.
We’ve been conditioned to be anywhere other than here, but the present is where the power is. When we consciously choose to be in the moment, suddenly there’s plenty of time. The inspiration, motivation, and clarity all show up. We feel peace, joy, and satisfaction. There’s no
space for these things if we clutter ourselves with busyness and distraction.
Being present means being aware of your thoughts and triggers. It means choosing your words from a space of neutrality, not judgment. The present requires you to stop and smell the roses—without guilt. And enjoy it.
Release Judgment
Everything is neutral, after all, and it’s our human nature to label and judge things to fit into our belief system. By releasing judgment, you become conscious of your patterns and projections. Judgment helps us discern what we like and don’t like, but it also causes us to shut out information, people, and lessons if we’re too attached to our beliefs.
Loosening our grip on what we judge allows us to step out of our conditioning and into a space of openness. Here, we have the ability to question our thoughts and beliefs to understand why we’re projecting such intense emotions about another person, thing, idea, or experience.
Think about something that you pass deep judgment on. Ask yourself why. Where did you learn this belief? How is it serving you? Who would you be if you let it go?
What if you could consciously take control of your life by bringing a new perspective into your awareness? A conscious outlook on life allows you to master your mindset, regulate your nervous system, heal your past, be who you were always meant to be, and manifest the life you’ve dreamed of living.
Bringing more conscious awareness to your life doesn’t require a huge overhaul; it starts with the decision to be more aware of yourself. Once you commit yourself, energy begins to shift. When you want to see more of your inner workings, you will be able to recognize them and call them out for what they are. Remember, you can’t address anything you haven’t acknowledged is there.

The Silent Conversation Between Your Mind and Your Breasts
By April Beaman, RDH, CTT
Weoften think of breast health in purely physical terms: routine screenings, monthly self-exams, healthy lifestyle habits. But your mental well-being, daily stress levels, and emotional resilience can be just as vital in protecting your breasts and overall health.
“Women under prolonged emotional stress may also experience changes in sleep, appetite, and behaviors that indirectly affect their health, such as reduced exercise, poor nutrition, or alcohol consumption, all of which can influence breast health over time.”
—April Beaman, RDH, CTT
Perhaps more than ever before, women today juggle careers, family responsibilities, social pressures, and a constant digital connection, all while trying to maintain their health. This persistent load often leads to chronic stress, which can disrupt hormonal balance, weaken immune function, and affect breast wellness. Understanding the link between stress and breast health is key to a more holistic and empowered approach to care.
Stress and Breast Health Connection
Chronic stress doesn’t just impact your mood or energy level; it affects your entire body. The body under stress produces higher levels of cortisol, the primary stress hormone. Over time, elevated cortisol can disrupt the delicate hormonal balance needed for healthy breast tissue and can even impact estrogen metabolism. This hormonal imbalance may contribute to breast tenderness, fibrocystic breast changes, irregular cycles, and has been linked to increased risk of disease.
Additionally, chronic stress suppresses the immune system, which plays a critical role in detecting and destroying abnormal cells, including those that may develop into cancer. Women under prolonged emotional stress may also experience changes in sleep, appetite, and behaviors that indirectly affect their health, such as reduced exercise, poor nutrition, or alcohol consumption, all of which can influence breast health over time.
Mind-Body Practices for Healthier Breasts
The good news is that simple, consistent practices can strengthen both physical and emotional health. Reducing daily stress not only boosts mental well-being but also supports hormonal balance, immune function, and overall breast health.
Here are a few practices backed by science and widely recommended in holistic health circles:
• Meditation and deep breathing: Just 10–15 minutes of quiet focus each day can make a substantial difference. Mindful breathing helps calm the nervous system, lower cortisol, and reduce inflammation. Over time, these small daily moments can improve mental clarity, emotional balance, and physical resilience.
• Gentle movement: Whether it’s walking around your neighborhood, practicing yoga, or engaging in light strength training, gentle activity supports healthy circulation and lymphatic flow. This movement helps your body clear waste, regulate hormones, and maintain healthy tissues, including breast tissue.
• Restful sleep: Quality sleep is one of the body’s most powerful healing tools. Going to bed and waking at consistent times, limiting screen time before bed, and creating a calming nighttime routine can help your body recover, reset, and maintain healthy hormone function.
• Nutrient-rich foods: What you eat directly fuels your body’s ability to detoxify, regulate hormones, and protect cellular health. Focus on colorful vegetables, high-quality proteins, healthy fats, and whole, unprocessed foods to provide your body with the essential nutrients it needs for repair and vitality.
• Emotional support: Sharing your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust can help release emotional tension, reduce feelings of isolation, and build resilience. A strong support system is just as important for your health as nutrition and exercise.
Thermography: Seeing What Other Tests Might Miss
For breast health, early awareness changes everything. While mammograms remain the standard, many women are discovering the benefits of adding thermography to their routine—especially those with dense breast tissue, a history of fibrocystic changes, or prefering to avoid radiation.
Thermography is a noninvasive, radiation-free technology that uses infrared imaging to detect subtle heat patterns and blood flow changes on the skin’s surface. These patterns can signal inflammation or abnormal activity, sometimes years before structural changes appear on other scans.
Unlike traditional imaging, thermography looks at function, not just structure. It’s painless, requires no compression, and can be repeated regularly to track changes over time. For women who want a proactive, holistic approach, thermography offers a unique window into breast health that supports informed decisions long before symptoms appear.
The Emotional Power of Proactive Health Empowerment comes from education, awareness, and action. When women understand the connection between their emotional landscape and physical health, they are better equipped to make decisions that support long-term vitality. Tools like thermography allow women to actively participate in their wellness journey.
More importantly, when women begin to honor the connection between body and mind, they often report feeling more grounded, more confident, and more in control of their well-being. Supporting breast health becomes not just a medical task, but a nurturing practice of self-awareness and self-care.
Taking the Next Step
To integrate more proactive and holistic strategies into your breast-health routine, consider:
• making stress reduction a non-negotiable part of your lifestyle. Even small, consistent practices yield big results.
• creating a personalized breast-health plan with your healthcare provider, including thermography if it fits your values and needs.
• staying curious and empowered; listen to your body, ask questions, and embrace practices that help you feel well, supported, and vibrant. In a world that often tells women to push harder, do more, and ignore their own needs, prioritizing mental health and stress reduction is not indulgent; it’s essential. Your breasts, your body, and your mind are all speaking the same language. Learning to listen may be one of the most powerful health decisions you make.

Stop the Stress Spiral: How Human Design Can Help You Find Relief
“We’ve been conditioned to associate worth with productivity. Human Design teaches us that sustainable success—and true well-being—comes from alignment. Knowing your unique energetic blueprint allows you to work with your natural flow, not against it.”
—April Goff Brown
By April Go Brown, Certified Quantum Human Design Specialist and Intuitive Coach
Stress is a state of mental or emotional strain triggered by difficult or demanding circumstances. Sometimes these are external, like workplace demands or family expectations, but often, the pressure is internal. One of the most overlooked sources of chronic stress?
Our addiction to busyness.
In today’s culture, being busy is seen as a badge of honor. We pack our schedules, overextend ourselves, and even do the same to our children, all in the name of success. But unchecked busyness inevitably leads to burnout—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Human Design, a holistic system that combines astrology, the I Ching, the chakras, and quantum physics, offers a powerful framework to help you identify your natural energy patterns and uncover the roots of your stress.
Your Energy Type and the Stress Connection
Each of us falls into one of five energy types: Generator, Manifesting Generator, Manifestor,
Projector, or Reflector. Your type reveals how you’re designed to interact with the world and how your energy flows most effectively.
Roughly seventy percent of the population is one of the two Generator types. They’re built for sustained energy and naturally thrive when they’re engaged in meaningful work. However, their drive to “keep going” can become a trap— saying yes too often, overcommitting, or pushing themselves beyond the point of exhaustion. If you’re a Generator type, learning to say “no” is a critical skill for managing stress. Not every opportunity is meant for you.
The other thirty percent of the population (Manifestors, Projectors, and Reflectors) do not have consistent access to sustainable energy. These types require intentional downtime. Trying to keep pace with the Generator world can leave them physically and emotionally depleted. Think of it like an aging phone battery: it can still function, but it needs to be recharged more frequently. Working through lunch or pushing through fatigue only amplifies stress and diminishes performance.
The Internal Pressure Triggers
Human Design identifies specific energy centers. Think of these as energy hubs. While the traditional chakra system has seven centers, Human Design uses nine. The Head, Ajna, Throat, Sacral, and Root centers closely mirror the chakras. The Heart splits into the Identity (or G) Center and the Will Center, and the Solar Plexus divides into the Emotional Solar Plexus and the Splenic Center. When undefined, these energy centers can create chronic internal pressure. For example:
• The Head Center is where the pressure to find answers lives. When undefined, it can lead to obsessive thinking or a compulsive need to find answers, especially when paired with a one-line profile. Sometimes there is no answer.
•The Root Center is the source of pressure to “get things done.” When undefined, it can create anxiety and an inability to relax until the entire to-do list is complete (which, let’s be honest, never really happens).
•The Will Center governs willpower and selfworth. If undefined, you may find yourself constantly trying to prove your value, such as working harder and longer to feel “enough,” even if no one is asking you to.
• The Spleen Center holds our primal fears— fear of failure, fear of not knowing enough, and fear of the unknown. When these fears run unchecked, they lead to perfectionism, procrastination, or paralysis—each a potent stressor.
The Power of Pausing
Regardless of type, everyone needs periods of rest. For example, people with a two-line in their profile require regular alone time. This isn’t antisocial behavior. It’s a necessary pause for introspection and energetic restoration.
So, how do you begin to unwind stress based on your Human Design?
•For Generators and Manifesting Generators:
• Your energy is powerful, but not infinite.
•Listen to your body. Working through illness or fatigue is not a virtue.
•Don’t say yes out of guilt. If something doesn’t light you up, it’s okay to pass.
•Prioritize activities that excite you. They fuel your energy.
• For Projectors, Manifestors, and Reflectors:
•You’re not meant to hustle all day.
•Rest is non-negotiable. Take breaks, especially during long workdays.
• Reflect and reset. Create environments that support calm and clarity.

•Manifestors need to protect their time by setting boundaries and informing others when they are in the midst of a task, so that they can work without interruption.
•Projectors benefit from recognition, but burnout can occur if they constantly seek it. If you’re a Projector, avoid overworking— ensure you have time for rest. Take breaks and don’t work through lunch!
• Reflectors are especially sensitive to the environment. Declutter frequently to maintain a peaceful environment.
Redefining Success
We’ve been conditioned to associate worth with productivity. Human Design teaches us that sustainable success—and true well-being— comes from alignment. Knowing your unique energetic blueprint allows you to work with your natural flow, not against it.
Each part of our design has a high expression (well-being, clarity, alignment) and a shadow expression (conditioning, burnout, confusion). The more we operate from the shadow—often unknowingly—the more disconnected we feel. Eventually, this misalignment can manifest as chronic stress, anxiety, depression, autoimmune issues, fatigue, or other forms of dis-ease.
Human Design doesn’t just show where we’re conditioned. It also shows how we’re meant to be—our natural rhythm, strengths, and strategies for decision-making.
Stress doesn’t have to be your default. You don’t have to prove yourself by running faster, working harder, or constantly pushing through.
Want to explore how your design impacts your stress and how to manage it? I can help you decode the patterns that contribute to burnout, enabling you to develop effective strategies for sustainable self-care.

Is There a Natural Approach to Sleep Breathing Disruptions?
By Steve Frank, Master Herbalist
Sleep-related
breathing disruptions, commonly associated with aging, affect an estimated 25 million Americans on a regular basis. Because these disruptions can occur without fully awakening the person, there are likely millions more who remain undiagnosed. The condition prevents the sleeper from entering rapid eye movement (REM) and delta sleep, causing them to become anxious, cantankerous, and tired during the day. Additionally, due to the nature of the condition, it causes blood oxygen levels to be lower than normal for very prolonged periods. This is particularly damaging to the brain and heart. Common options to help include weight loss, nasal decongestants, surgery, and oral appliances.
Sleep Breathing Support™ was designed to do what the above solutions can’t: address the real cause of the breathing disruption.
The Cause
When we enter stage two sleep in preparation for REM sleep, where dreaming occurs, muscular activity is inhibited. This is called reduction of muscle tonus, a function that occurs primarily to keep the dreamer from physically acting out the movements of their dreams. It is accomplished by suppressing the flow of signals from the brain along the spinal cord. Unfortunately, in those who struggle with sleep breathing disruptions, the reduction in muscle tonus allows the soft palate to sag, and the signal from the brain to the diaphragm that keeps you breathing gets inadvertently reduced in strength.
The result of this is that upon entering stage two sleep, breathing becomes shallower, the blood oxygen level drops, and the carbon dioxide level rises until the brain intervenes, causing the body to make a large and immediate inhalation. This causes a large pressure differential in the pharynx
and literally sucks the sagging soft palate into the airway. This obstructs the flow and causes a loud snort, partially or fully awakening the subject.
The Solution
You see, the problem is not the sagging soft palate nor the rapid inhalation that sucks your soft palate into the airway. The problem is the reduced ability of the signal from your brain to produce sufficient breathing amplitude from your diaphragm. The appropriate intervention is to enhance the brain’s ability to communicate with the diaphragm, allowing you to breathe deeply and steadily throughout the night. That is exactly what the combination of herbs in Sleep Breathing Support™ is intended to do.
Carefully Crafted with a Bouquet of Natural Herbs
Each herb in Sleep Breathing Support™ has been chosen for its specific role in supporting nighttime breathing health:
• Lobelia: Used in small doses, can increase the level of respiration. By helping you breathe more deeply and steadily, it keeps the whole disruptive cycle from even beginning.
• Thyme: Improves the ability of the lungs to exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen, contributing to sufficient respiratory amplitude.
• Chamomile: Helps the subject relax for better rest.
• Cramp Bark: Supports the loosening of upper trapezius muscles.
Sleep Breathing Support™ by Nature’s Rite is a natural way to reduce sleep breathing disruptions and achieve a restful night.
*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
“The problem is not the rapid inhalation that sucks your soft palate into the airway. The problem is the reduced ability of the signal from your brain to produce sufficient breathing amplitude from your diaphragm.”

Nature’s Rite is a family-owned company, based in Sarasota, Florida. It was founded on the belief that natural, whole-ingredient remedies can address health concerns effectively and gently. The company’s founder and master herbalist, Steve Frank, personally experienced sleep breathing disruptions himself. Determined to find a better solution, he spent years researching the condition and uncovering its true cause. Drawing on his deep knowledge of herbs, he developed an effective combination that supports deep, steady breathing throughout the night. The Real Work: The Transformation Beyond the Surface
By Kelly L. McCarthy
Not“The magic is in the messiness of the little moments of your everyday life. What
are you thinking when someone cuts you off in traffic? What’s your reaction when things
don’t go your way?”
—Kelly L. McCarthy
all transformations are visible to others, right? When I released over one hundred pounds in less than a year, I became an instant “poster child” for the MLM company I was aligned with at the time. But while the physical transformation was clear for everyone to see, the real journey—the internal shifts that were happening within me—were far more significant and lasting. When I began the journey to better understand myself, my beliefs, and why I had become the person I was, I was met with real resistance. “Oh, you’re one of those…” comments started to surface. The deeper I went into finding my truth, the harsher the comments became, especially during the “C era.” At that time, I thought I was doing the world a favor by sharing what I had learned about the quantum field, the law of attraction, energy work, and the ability to heal ourselves of absolutely anything, only to realize that this was a very personal journey that only aligns with those who are seeking it. So, I continued walking my path with those who were also seeking it.
Hard Work on a Lonely Road
It can be a lonely road, but something in me wouldn’t quiet down. I stopped blaming and complaining as much. I couldn’t ignore the energetic pull that there was more to life than I had been shown. The more I dug, the more I realized the true transformation I was looking for wasn’t about physical changes people could see; it was feeling into what I wanted for my life while stepping into my powers of creating, allowing, and receiving it. It became about the inner work, becoming so conscious of my thought patterns that I could no longer remain unconscious to the very thoughts keeping me in my perception of being stuck. Stuck is merely an illusion created by the mind; in truth, we as energy are always moving, and therefore, we
cannot ever be stuck. Conscious thoughts urged me to move my body after sitting at the computer for hours, something I would typically ignore, but now chose to listen to and act on. Another moment caught a judgmental thought midsentence. I was able to stop it, recognize the pattern, and let it go, replacing it with a different, more empowering thought for them and for me. What remained was a feeling of inner peace so compelling that I could feel my heart swell with connection.
Transformation is not just in the sacred journeys, the meditations, and the powerful retreats. Believe me, I know how incredible the collective energy feels when harnessed in a group; it’s simply euphoric. But those moments fade as quickly as they come because they are the conscious collective energy coming together, not your energy learning to connect itself to the collective energy.
The magic is in the messiness of the little moments of your everyday life. What are you thinking when someone cuts you off in traffic? What’s your reaction when things don’t go your way? How personally do you take gossip if it’s about you? How do you feel about the neighbor who doesn’t cut the lawn in a timely fashion? About your coworker who has differing political views? What about someone who chooses to express themselves through piercings and body art? Your response to these events is your opportunity to either create or release stress and negativity from your life in those moments. The choice really is yours.
The Real Work of Conscious Awareness
That is the real work of conscious awareness. It’s not about not having the thoughts, it’s about how long you will entertain the thoughts you are having—those thoughts that create space for stress, anxiety, and those negative feelings you neither need nor want to have space in your life.
From this space of realization, you can create new thoughts that deepen your connection to your feelings and empower you to take aligned action toward what you truly desire, not what you are being shown. The more you practice this, the easier it becomes to catch and shift your thoughts, embracing your role as the conscious creator of your reality.
This transformation has also given me the ability to hold more space for those who may differ from me. It doesn’t mean I don’t get triggered at times, but I’ve noticed that my reaction time to noticing is getting faster. I no longer feel the need to block or separate myself from others. Instead, I can see them in their wholeness, wherever they are on their journey. I remind myself that I, too, once stood where they’re standing. Just because someone behaves a certain way today doesn’t mean they aren’t in the midst of their own transformation.
I am now at peace with allowing others to be as they are, in whatever form that takes. Their journey is not my responsibility, nor do I want to focus my energy on what does not serve me. While I hold space for them, my mission is to stay in my own alignment as often as possible while sharing my wisdom with those who are seeking remembrance and alignment for themselves.
We should never discount the smallest changes within us because those changes can often be the most profound. Transformation is always happening, both seen and unseen. Whether we realize it in the moment or not, trust the process. Take the “leap of faith” and trust the energy you’re moving toward. Allow yourself to be fully present for the changes, even the most uncomfortable of truths, you must face as they unfold in your life. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
Every time we align with the person we want to become, we move closer to the person we’re meant to be. So here’s to trusting the journey and embracing the beauty of your transformation, no matter how big or small. And continue to say out loud, if you please, “Show me how incredible my life can be.” Because when you’re conscious of it, it always is.

My Reiki Journey: What It Is, How It Helps, and Why I Practice It
By Darlene Pierpont
Asit becomes more popular and enters the mainstream, chances are that you have heard of Reiki. What was your reaction when you first learned about it? Were you skeptical, hesitant, or were you open to its healing possibilities?
“Reiki is an individualized journey, so what each client perceives will vary. And it is divinely guided by universal life force energy, so the Reiki practitioner serves only as a conduit. Once the session is over, the healing can truly begin.”
—Darlene Pierpont
Before I became acquainted with Reiki, I didn’t understand what it really was. But of course, that’s usually how it is for all of us. But then a friend or family member, maybe a stranger in passing, tells you about Reiki, or perhaps you read about it somewhere. And some people hear about it once and then let the thought go, forgetting they ever heard of it. However, others of us continue to cross paths with Reiki and feel beckoned by it, so we begin to listen. This was me.
My Reiki Journey
Before I began my journey to becoming a Reiki Master, I was going through several major life changes. I was in college and soon to graduate, going through a divorce, selling my home, relocating, raising a son, and trying to find my way. Needless to say, I was going through a spiritual awakening. And with this awakening, I would continue to encounter Reiki through conversations with others.
At first, I brushed it off. But later I thought, “Reiki seems interesting, maybe I can look into it someday.” That “someday” arrived when I talked to a woman in a crystal shop who told me Reiki can also be given to animals. I was instantly convinced, especially because I love animals of all kinds. After that day, I started listening to my inner voice and committed to a life-changing journey with Reiki, which eventually led me to become a Reiki Master. Now, with Reiki’s help, I support others on their own healing journeys.
What Is Reiki?
In a nutshell, Reiki is a Japanese, sacred energy healing technique discovered in 1922 by a Japanese
man named Mikao Usui. After twenty-one days of fasting and prayer on Mount Kurama in Japan, Usui experienced his own spiritual awakening. His awakening revealed to him the spiritual energy of Reiki and its healing benefits. After his discovery, he trained others, and eventually, over time, Reiki spread throughout the world.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
During a Reiki session, the Reiki practitioner has the client lie on a massage table or sit in a chair. The practitioner then places their hands on or above certain areas along the client’s body. Sometimes, the use of crystals and music is also employed to amplify energy, but it is not necessary. Once the Reiki session begins, the client may feel warmth, coolness, tingling, or nothing at all. Reiki is an individualized journey, so what each client perceives will vary. And it is divinely guided by universal life force energy, so the Reiki practitioner serves only as a conduit. Once the session is over, the healing can truly begin.
Why Try Reiki?
Healing is a process that takes time, patience, silence, and reflection. Reiki has been such a beautiful gift in my own healing journey, and it can help support you as well. Reiki balances the physical, emotional, and spiritual selves on a much deeper level. It gently clears away any energetic blockages and creates a welcoming space for peace, clarity, and purpose to flow back into our hearts. So, even one session can be beneficial and uplifting. Longer-term sessions can ease physical pain from acute injuries or chronic conditions, bring comfort in times of grief, lessen medication side effects, boost energy, and give relief after cancer treatments—to name just a few. So, whether you come for a single session or choose to walk your healing journey with me for the long term, Reiki has the power to be life-changing. So let us grow, release, and heal together.

Your website is often the first deep interaction people have with your business. It’s a living part of your brand, one that works in the background to welcome people, share your story, and invite them to take the next step with you, so it’s common to feel like something’s “off” when you’re not getting the results you’d hoped for. The truth is, you don’t always need to start from scratch. Some thoughtful refinements can bring a site into alignment with your evolving business and the people you serve.
Clarity on Traffic and Engagement
Before making any changes, it’s crucial to understand how people are finding and interacting with your site. Ask yourself:
• How are you currently attracting visitors— through referrals, networking, social media, or advertising?
• Are you tracking the number of unique visitors you get each month?
• What pages are people visiting most, and where are they leaving?
Tools like Fathom Analytics or Hotjar make it easier to understand visitor behavior without getting lost in overwhelming data. This insight helps you see what’s working well and where people may be getting stuck.
Write to Build Connection
Your words bridge the gap between curiosity and action. Use your copy to paint a clear picture of the transformation you guide clients through. Let visitors feel seen and understood without amplifying their pain. Position them as the hero of their own journey, with you as the trusted guide helping them reach the next chapter. Break your message into sections that are easy to read and skim, so they naturally follow along without feeling overwhelming.
Align Your Visual Experience
The way your brand looks communicates just as much as what you say. Your colors, fonts, and imagery can either reinforce the feeling you want people to have—or unintentionally send mixed signals. Consistency across your site helps build credibility and recognition. Make purposeful design choices that reflect your message and mission, rather than chase what’s trending.
Align Your Website with Your Vision and Impact
Make the Next Step Obvious
A visitor should never guess what you want them to do next. Every page of your site needs a clear action that moves visitors closer to becoming a client. If you want them to book a session, apply for a program, or join your email list, make that invitation unmistakable. Place it where it’s easy to find, repeat it where it makes sense, and remove distractions that could pull them away from taking that step.
Small Refinements That Make a Big Difference
Many soulful entrepreneurs already have a strong foundation; it simply needs refinement so that the site reflects their current energy, message, and offerings. When your website feels like a natural extension of your vision, it not only draws in the right people but also makes it easier for them to say yes to working with you.
When It’s Time for a Website Overhaul
Sometimes tweaks aren’t enough to bring your site in line with where your business is headed. You may be ready for a full redesign if:
• Your offers or audience have evolved in ways your site no longer reflects.
• The design, structure, or platform feels outdated or limiting.
• You’ve outgrown DIY solutions and are ready for a professional, cohesive site that supports your next level of growth.
A well-designed website, built with intention and infused with your purpose, can transform how confidently you show up, how deeply you connect, and how effectively you serve.
Barb Pritchard is a brand strategist and intuitive designer who helps visionaries, healers, and therapists create soul-aligned brands and websites that connect deeply with the people they’re meant to serve. Think Fluoride in Water Is Good for You? Think Again
By Dr. Mark A. Breiner, DDS
“If
fluoride’s advantages are topical, why are we ingesting it through our water supply? Does it make sense to have a sevenpound baby ingest the same amount of fluoride when drinking a glass of water as a 200-pound man? … And is it moral to mass medicate something as essential as drinking water?”
—Dr. Mark A. Breiner, DDS
Ihave talked about the dangers of fluoride in our drinking water for decades. People holding similar views have been labeled as quacks, communists, and conspiracy theorists. As a holistic dentist deeply concerned about the impact of dental practices on overall health, it’s only natural to have investigated this and concluded that fluoride in drinking water is not a good idea. Recent developments and ongoing research have vindicated my position.
The Ineffectiveness of Systemic Fluoride
Traditionally, the dental community advocated for water fluoridation under the belief that systemic ingestion of fluoride during tooth development would strengthen enamel and prevent decay. However, research challenges this notion, and it is now widely accepted that fluoride’s primary benefit is topical, meaning it works on the surface of the teeth rather than from within the body. This raises some critical questions: If fluoride’s advantages are topical, why are we ingesting it through our water supply? Does it make sense to have a seven-pound baby ingest the same amount of fluoride when drinking a glass of water as a 200-pound man? We would never do this with any other drug. And is it moral to mass medicate something as essential as drinking water?
Health Risks Associated with Fluoride Consumption
Beyond its questionable efficacy, fluoride poses several health risks that cannot be ignored. Studies have linked fluoride ingestion to an increased risk of hip fracture, birth defects, cancer, arthritis, thyroid dysfunction, and even a reduction in IQ levels. Dental fluorosis, a condition resulting from excessive fluoride intake during tooth development, affects approximately fifty percent of individuals in areas with fluoridated water, leading to enamel defects that are often dismissed as merely cosmetic. However, these enamel changes signal deeper, systemic issues, as fluoride interference with collagen formation in the enamel can also affect collagen in the rest of the body.
The Industrial Origins of Water Fluoridation
The history of water fluoridation is marked by industrial interests and misinformation. Fluoride is a by-product of various industrial processes, including the production of steel, aluminum, high-octane gasoline, pesticides, and Teflon. In the mid-twentieth century, industries faced numerous lawsuits due to fluoride’s detrimental effects on people, crops, and livestock. To mitigate these legal challenges and rebrand fluoride’s image, a false narrative was constructed promoting fluoride as a dental health benefit, leading to its addition to public water supplies. This strategic move diverted attention from industrial pollution and positioned fluoride as a preventative health measure, despite the lack of conclusive evidence supporting its safety and efficacy in reducing tooth decay.
Recent Actions and Ongoing Debates
In recent years there have been notable shifts in the conversation surrounding fluoride. For instance, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken action against companies like DuPont for concealing the harmful effects of fluoride exposure among workers involved in Teflon production. Such developments indicate a growing recognition of fluoride’s potential dangers and a shift towards greater transparency and accountability in areas unrelated to water fluoridation. I say this because the American Dental Association and the Environmental Protection Agency are very firm in their stance regarding water fluoridation. Recent legal developments have significantly influenced the ongoing debate surrounding water fluoridation in the United States. In September 2024, a pivotal ruling by a Federal District Court in California mandated that the US Environmental Protection Agency strengthen its regulations concerning fluoride levels in drinking water. The court determined that the current fluoridation level of 0.7 milligrams per liter poses an unreasonable risk of reduced IQ in children, necessitating regulatory action by the EPA.
This decision stemmed from a lawsuit filed in 2017 by environmental and public health advocacy groups. The plaintiffs argued that fluoride exposure at prevailing levels is linked to neurodevelopmental issues in children. The court acknowledged substantial and scientifically credible evidence supporting this claim, highlighting associations between fluoride exposure and decreased IQ levels in children.
While the ruling does not impose an immediate ban on water fluoridation, it compels the EPA to reassess and potentially revise its standards to mitigate identified risks. The court emphasized that the EPA cannot disregard the presented evidence and must engage in a regulatory response to address the potential hazards of fluoride in drinking water.
In reaction to the ruling, communities across the nation have reevaluated their water fluoridation policies. For instance, Yorktown, NY, ceased adding fluoride to its drinking water, reflecting a broader trend among municipalities to reconsider the practice amid growing public concern and legal scrutiny.
Despite these legal and community actions, major health organizations, including the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), continue to endorse water fluoridation as a safe, effective measure for preventing tooth decay. The ADA reaffirmed its stance following the court’s decision, emphasizing the dental health benefits of community water fluoridation. (Mind you, there has never been a study showing that fluoride in drinking water decreases tooth decay.) Things may change in the near future, as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, has stated that he will recommend the CDC no longer encourage water fluoridation.
As we continue to uncover the complex interactions between dental practices and overall health, it is crucial to remain vigilant and question long-standing assumptions. The case of fluoride in drinking water exemplifies the need for ongoing research, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the public’s well-being. By prioritizing informed choice and individual autonomy, we can move toward a more holistic and health-conscious approach to dentistry and wellness.

Feeding Your Demons: A Gentle Path to Inner Healing
“When the unmet needs beneath a behavior—such as the comfort sought in overeating or the escape found in smoking—are met with compassion, patients often find it easier to release these patterns and choose healthier ones.”
—Dr. Brian Ruggiero, DC
By Dr. Brian Ruggiero, DC
Inmy two decades as a chiropractor, acupuncturist, hypnotherapist, and energy healer, I’ve discovered a profound truth: the pain and tension we carry in our bodies often have roots much deeper than posture or injury. A stiff neck or persistent backache can be the quiet echo of unspoken fears, lingering anxieties, or emotional burdens stored deep within our tissues.
This insight shapes every aspect of my work, where I honor the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. Among the many healing tools I use, one of the most transformative is Feeding Your Demons, a practice developed by Lama Tsultrim Allione, an American Buddhist teacher. Adapted from the ancient Tibetan ritual chöd, meaning “cutting through,” it invites us to compassionately face the parts of ourselves we often avoid: our inner “demons.”
Understanding Your Inner Demons
The demons in this context aren’t supernatural beings but energies within us: fear, limiting beliefs, anxiety, and self-sabotaging habits. These parts often began as protectors, coping strategies meant to keep us safe. Yet, over time, they can harden into patterns that hold us back, such as emotional eating, smoking, or alcohol dependence.
Most people instinctively try to fight or suppress these parts, but resistance only strengthens their hold. Feeding Your Demons offers a different path: meeting these energies with curiosity, compassion, and care. When we listen deeply and give them the nourishment they truly need, they can transform— sometimes becoming allies who bring strength, clarity, and healing.
The Process in My Practice
When I guide someone through this work, we first create a safe, grounded space. Breathwork can help the nervous system shift from a state of stress into one of ease, making emotional exploration less overwhelming.
The practice unfolds in five steps:
1. Find the demon: Identify a troubling emotion, fear, or behavior—whether anxiety, self-criticism, or a destructive habit.
2. Personify the demon: Visualize it as a being with a form, texture, or color. Ask what it wants, and more importantly, what it truly needs.
3. Become the demon: Step into its perspective to feel its emotions and motivations deeply.
4. Feed the demon and welcome the ally: Imagine your body transforming into a nourishing nectar, offering the demon what it craves—often love, safety, or acceptance— until it feels fully at peace. In that moment, an ally may appear or be called upon, offering protection, wisdom, and support.
5. Rest: Allow time for integration so the experience can settle within the body and mind.
Why This Practice Works
I’ve witnessed Feeding Your Demons help people create breakthroughs after feeling stuck for years. Meeting inner challenges with kindness rather than conflict frees energy that was previously trapped in resistance, tension, and pain.
This work also uncovers the roots of destructive habits. When the unmet needs beneath a behavior— such as the comfort sought in overeating or the escape found in smoking—are met with compassion, patients often find it easier to release these patterns and choose healthier ones.
Physiologically, the practice calms the nervous system, easing chronic stress that fuels both physical discomfort and emotional imbalance. Psychologically, it shifts our relationship with ourselves, replacing judgment with compassion and fostering lasting resilience.
The Benefits My Patients Experience
• Inner peace: The relentless inner struggle quiets, making space for calm.
• Emotional freedom: The grip of self-criticism and anxiety loosens.
• Stress relief: Relaxation flows through body and mind.
• Breaking addictive cycles: Meeting emotional needs beneath habits often eases reliance on food, cigarettes, or alcohol.
• Improved relationships: Compassion for oneself naturally extends outward.
• Fear to courage: Facing phobias with support diminishes their power, replacing avoidance with empowerment.
These benefits are more than symptom relief— they mark a new way of relating to yourself and your life.
Whether through chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, energy work, or the gentle guidance of Feeding Your Demons, my work is devoted to helping people remember their innate capacity to heal and grow. This practice is more than a method—it’s a warm invitation to return to yourself, where emotional freedom, spiritual resilience, and a deep sense of wholeness are ready to welcome you home.

The Central Role of the Gut in Chronic Complex Illness: From Barrier Function to Immune Modulation
By Dr. Pamela M. Cipriano, DNP, APRN
The“Patients
with Lyme disease and coinfections frequently present with gastrointestinal dysmotility, bloating, diarrhea, or intolerance to multiple foods. These symptoms stem not only from the inflammatory effects of infection but also from repeated antibiotic exposures that destabilize the microbial ecosystem.”
—Dr.
Pamela M. Cipriano, DNP, APRN
gastrointestinal tract, more than a digestive organ, represents the most extensive interface between the human body and the external environment, housing trillions of microorganisms, absorbing nutrients, and maintaining barrier function. With approximately seventy percent of the immune system localized within the gut, its health is fundamental to systemic balance. When the gut barrier is compromised or the microbiome disrupted, the consequences extend far beyond bloating or abdominal pain—they affect neurological health, immune regulation, and detoxification.
For patients with mold toxicity, heavy metal exposure, parasitic infection, and tick-borne diseases, disruption of gut homeostasis is often a central driver of their chronic illness. Recognizing the gut as both a source of pathology and a therapeutic target allows clinicians to reframe treatment strategies and pursue more lasting recovery.
Barrier Dysfunction and Immune Activation
The integrity of the intestinal barrier is maintained by tight junction proteins that regulate what passes from the gut lumen into circulation. Toxins impair these junctions, creating what is often referred to as “leaky gut.” In this state, bacterial fragments, such as lipopolysaccharides (LPS), food antigens, and environmental chemicals, enter systemic circulation, triggering widespread immune activation.
This immune hypervigilance fuels a cycle of chronic inflammation, exacerbating autoimmunity, mast cell activation, and vulnerability to infections. Clinically, patients may present with food sensitivities, rashes, brain fog, or diffuse pain syndromes. Addressing the root disruption in gut permeability can often reduce systemic reactivity and restore tolerance.
Microbiome Alterations in Tick-Borne and Parasitic Infections
The gut microbiome is one of the most important modulators of immune health. Patients with Lyme disease and coinfections frequently present with gastrointestinal dysmotility, bloating, diarrhea, or intolerance to multiple foods. These symptoms
stem not only from the inflammatory effects of infection but also from repeated antibiotic exposures that destabilize the microbial ecosystem.
Bartonella and Babesia, common Lyme disease coinfections, exacerbate immune dysregulation by activating cytokines, further disrupting gut-immune communication. Over time, this disruption can lead to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), Candida overgrowth, and nutrient malabsorption. Parasitic infections complicate this picture further. Protozoa and helminths not only impair nutrient absorption but can also serve as reservoirs for toxin accumulation. Some parasites contribute to biofilm formation, shielding pathogenic microbes and perpetuating coinfections. Such dynamics underscore the importance of evaluating gut ecology in patients who fail to respond fully to antimicrobial therapies.
The Gut–Brain Axis
The gut and brain are linked in constant conversation via the gut–brain axis. Neuropsychiatric symptoms common in patients with mold, Lyme, and heavy metals—such as anxiety, depression, and cognitive dysfunction—often correlate with gut dysbiosis and intestinal permeability.
Signals travel through multiple pathways, and when gut integrity is lost, patients may experience heightened exposure to quinolinic acid, ammonia, and LPS, all of which are implicated in neuroinflammation. This explains why many patients experience dramatic improvements in mood, cognition, and sleep once gut healing begins. Clinicians should recognize psychiatric manifestations not solely as “chemical imbalance” but as possible sequelae of gut-driven neuroinflammation.
Detoxification and Enterohepatic Recirculation
Another critical but often overlooked function of the gut is its role in detoxification. The liver conjugates toxins and excretes them into bile, which is then emptied into the intestines. However, in the absence of effective binders or healthy motility, many of these toxins are reabsorbed into the bloodstream, a process known as enterohepatic recirculation.
For patients with mold toxicity or heavy metal exposure, this creates a vicious cycle: toxins mobilized for excretion end up back in circulation, perpetuating symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, and neurological dysfunction. Supporting gut detoxification and microbial restoration can break this cycle and enhance systemic clearance.
Clinical Framework for Gut Restoration
An evidence-based approach to gut restoration provides a roadmap for recovery. The 5R framework is widely used in functional medicine and can be applied to complex chronic illnesses:
1. Remove: Identify and eliminate ongoing exposures, including mold environments, heavy metals, food allergens, and pathogens.
2. Replace: Correct digestive insufficiencies with enzymes, hydrochloric acid, or bile salts.
3. Reinoculate: Restore microbial diversity through probiotics and prebiotic fibers, emphasizing species that enhance immune tolerance.
4. Repair: Support mucosal integrity with nutrients such as glutamine, zinc carnosine, omega-3 fatty acids, and polyphenol-rich botanicals.
5. Rebalance: Address neuroendocrine and lifestyle factors, including stress management, circadian rhythm, and restorative sleep. When applied systematically, this framework helps patients regain resilience, stabilize immunity, and reduce systemic inflammation.
Gut Health for Overall Health
In the landscape of chronic complex illness, the gut is a primary therapeutic target. Restoring barrier function, microbiome balance, and detoxification pathways directly influences immune regulation, neurological health, and detox capacity.
As research continues to validate these connections, functional and integrative practitioners have an opportunity to shift the paradigm of care— moving away from symptom suppression and toward root-cause resolution. By recognizing the gut as the cornerstone of recovery, clinicians can help patients achieve not only symptom relief but also lasting improvements in quality of life.

Find Your Purpose with Hypnotherapy
By Marcel Touponse
“Licensed professionals commonly use hypnosis . . . police officers for regression of witnesses, corporate trainers, . . . certified hypnotists assisting people with . . . weight loss, smoking cessation, anxiety . . . fears and phobias, and many other critical, lifealtering changes.”
—Marcel Touponse
Ilovemy job. I am immensely blessed to feel excitement and gratitude each day, as I prepare to use hypnosis to help people in my community overcome the limitations and obstacles they face on their way to the life of their dreams. People who knew me twenty years ago would never associate this sentiment with me. Love work? Ha!
As hard as I worked and as much pride as I took in my performance, I wasn’t thrilled with my role in the insurance industry. As a trainer, I would occasionally find solace in helping a new agent find a way to earn real money for their family. I loved teaching and helping others, but the industry and schedule—not so much. Thankfully, I found another way.
There’s a bit of irony woven into the story. It was a sales position at a progressive company that found me sitting in a conference room for an entire week, absorbing every single word of The Phoenix Seminar, created by Brian Tracy. Two things happened here: first, I was introduced to the empowering art of self-hypnosis, and second, I realized my passion wasn’t selling other people’s products for profit—a revelatory experience that has influenced my entire household.
The Many Powers of Hypnosis
Not long after the seminar, I was visiting a hypnotist to help me sleep. I was in the grip of severe insomnia and hadn’t slept in seven days. I needed help, and I was utterly shocked at the effectiveness of this medication-free treatment path. Once again, my life was forever changed through the power of hypnosis. I began my certification course immediately, and I’ve never looked back.
Today, as my passion for hypnosis continues to grow, I turn to the next chapter: training other hypnotists. There have been so many advancements and contributions to the process of induction and treatment that hypnosis is now a viable healing modality for almost anyone, across a wide range of issues.
Licensed professionals commonly use hypnosis in a therapeutic or medical setting—police officers for regression of witnesses, corporate trainers, and, of course, certified hypnotists assisting people with everything from weight loss, smoking cessation, anxiety, professional and athletic performance, fears and phobias, and many other critical, life-altering changes.
I’ve been able to work with people of all ages, dealing with things I’d never have imagined. Yes, many incredible weight loss journeys and many people leaving nicotine addiction behind, but also helping people regain the ability to walk in post op rehab centers, helping Parkinson’s patients mitigate or eliminate tremors, assisting people to get on a plane for the first time in decades… Knowing I’ve played a small part in people changing their lives is the greatest reward I’ve ever received from any position I’ve ever held.
See for Yourself
The New England Institute of Hypnosis has created the nation’s most comprehensive hypnotist certification program to date. A onehundred-hour, flexibly structured course that blends live training with modules and self-study. The successful completion of this course satisfies the certification requirements of all fifty states and will prepare you to use hypnosis in any capacity that you wish. Clinical psychologists, first responders, corporate trainers, and individuals seeking a rewarding additional income stream or a complete career change are all a perfect fit for this course.
This is a ten-week program, beginning November 4 (orientation is October 28), and will be offered quarterly. If you’re in a related field, the investment is a no-brainer. If you’re frustrated with your current position and enjoy meeting new people and helping them get past the issues that plague them, this may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. You can wake up in the morning and know that you’re going to help people experience substantive change in their lives, and you won’t have to go back to school for half a decade to make it happen!
Marcel Touponse is a Hypnotherapist, Sound Healer, Life Coach, and Tarot Reader. He co-owns The Blackbird House in Old Wethersfield and operates Blackbird Hypnosis. Marcel’s goal is to assist you in “becoming aligned with your mind.” He offers regular workshops on Self-Hypnosis and is available for small and large group tarot readings.

When“It’s physically impossible to become more stressed and more relaxed at the same time. When you start relaxing—even just a bit—you reverse the cycle of growing increasingly stressed or anxious.”
—Jane Grant, RDN, CD-N
days get busy, we often start feeling overwhelmed, which can affect the way we eat. Without much thought, we go for high-sugar, high-fat comfort foods because they make us feel better – but only for a short time. When we consume these unhealthy foods, it causes our blood sugar levels to rise, then they crash, which can lead to feelings of frustration, anger, or sadness. When our stress is not maintained for long periods, we’re putting ourselves at risk for insulin resistance, obesity, and metabolic disorders.
How Foods Can Mitigate the Physical Impact of Stress
Stress can deplete nutrients over time. It triggers the release of vitamin C from the adrenal glands, which can lead to a deficiency. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant, helping to battle the damaging effects of stress-related free radicals. Stress hormones need the B vitamins to help produce and release cortisol. High levels of cortisol can reduce our energy levels and affect our nervous system and mood regulation. Our bodies don’t store B vitamins, which impacts our health. Magnesium and zinc are also prone to depletion during stress. Magnesium has a calming effect and helps reduce stress. Low levels of zinc have been linked to depression. When we feel fatigued and less physically active, it becomes harder not to stress-eat.
Nutrition can help positively stabilize our mood when we eat a healthy, balanced diet that includes complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, healthy fats, and fiber. These kinds of foods help regulate our blood sugar levels and mood. Food rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, walnuts, spinach, and almonds, helps reduce anxiety and promote calmness. Eating a healthier diet reduces inflammation in the body and helps mitigate the physiological effects of stress.
What About Stress Eating?
If stress eating has become a habit, we need to rewire our brains to recognize what we’re doing. Often, we may not even be aware that we’re doing it. Keeping a mindful eating journal when you’re feeling stressed can help. Write down what, where, and when you were eating, and whether you were truly hungry. Over time, your awareness will increase, and you’ll catch yourself before you stress eat and choose to do something else to cope.
To eliminate stress eating from our lives, we should create a plan for how to change it. For example, if there is a stress-eating habit, such as stopping at the donut shop for a flavored cream coffee, we need to alter that routine. We can make coffee at home and bring it with us, or brew a cup at work and take it home. Keeping healthy snacks on hand also helps regulate our moods.
Simple Ways to Mitigate Stress
Stress tends to build up in our bodies, causing tension and discomfort. If you can’t change the external situation in the moment, stand up and stretch your back or neck, move around, go for a walk. Stretching and moving help release stress. Look out a window or go outside for a minute or two to observe the trees or nature around you. Take a few deep breaths. Nature has a positive effect on us when we allow ourselves to connect with it.
Slowing your breathing can “trick” your body into thinking you’re going to sleep, which relaxes you. Try this quick breathing exercise: Close your eyes. Stare at the blackness of your eyelids. Slowly breathe in and out. Count each time you inhale and exhale. Continue until you get to ten.
It’s physically impossible to become more stressed and more relaxed at the same time. When you start relaxing—even just a bit—you reverse the cycle of growing more stressed or anxious.

By Deirdre Tindall,Founder, Tind-All Creative Marketing
In business, marketing and sales are essential components for growth and success. However, many practitioners find themselves resisting the idea of promoting their services or products, often due to uncertainty about the process. This resistance can hinder their business potential and limit their ability to reach new clients and customers.
Embrace Marketing and Sales
As we look to the coming months, it’s crucial for practitioners to overcome this resistance to marketing and sales to thrive in their industries. Here are some key reasons why practitioners should embrace marketing and sales for their business.
1. Visibility and Reach
Marketing and sales strategies can significantly increase a practitioner’s visibility in the market and expand their reach. By promoting their services through various channels, practitioners can attract new clients and customers, ultimately leading to business growth and success.
2. Building Trust and Credibility
Marketing and sales efforts play a vital role in establishing trust and credibility with potential clients. By showcasing their expertise and unique offerings, practitioners can build a strong reputation in their industry and position themselves as trusted authorities in their field.
3. Driving Business Growth
An effective marketing and sales strategy can drive business growth by generating leads, converting prospects into clients, and increasing revenue. By focusing on promoting their services effectively, practitioners can achieve steady growth and success in the long term.
Overcoming the Fear
For practitioners looking to overcome their resistance to marketing and sales, there are several strategies they can adopt.
1. Identify and Address Limiting Beliefs
Practitioners should identify any limiting beliefs or misconceptions they may have about marketing and sales and work toward overcoming them.
2. Seek Support and Guidance
Seeking support and guidance from marketing experts or mentors can help practitioners develop effective strategies and tactics to promote their services confidently.
3. Start Small and Build Confidence
Practitioners can start by implementing small marketing initiatives and gradually build their confidence in promoting their services.
4. Embrace Continuous Learning
Staying informed about marketing trends and strategies can equip practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to promote their services and stay ahead of the competition.
Practitioners should view marketing and sales not as a daunting task, but as a powerful tool to enhance their business success. By overcoming their resistance and embracing marketing and sales strategies, practitioners can unlock their full potential, attract more clients, and achieve significant growth in the coming months.
So, let’s shed the fear, embrace marketing and sales, and watch our businesses shine brighter than ever before. Reach out to Tind-All Creative Marketing for all your sales and marketing needs.

How Genes Contribute to Low Platelet Counts in Cancer
By Dr. Yvette M. Whitton, ND, MS
The“Chemotherapy and environmental exposures generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and toxic metabolites that threaten marrow integrity.
Detoxification enzymes such as GSTM1, GSTP1, and GPX1 neutralize these threats.”
—Dr. Yvette M. Whitton, ND, MS
tumor suppressor TP53 and its regulator MDM2 play central roles in maintaining hematopoietic stem cell health. TP53 orchestrates DNA repair and apoptosis, while MDM2 modulates its degradation. Variants that weaken this pathway compromise stem cell stability, leading to impaired megakaryocyte maturation and reduced platelet output. Such genetic vulnerabilities heighten the marrow’s susceptibility to additional stressors, including chemotherapy.
Folate and B-Vitamin Metabolism
Hematopoiesis requires rapid DNA synthesis, which depends heavily on methylation pathways. The MTHFR C677T homozygous variant decreases folate metabolism efficiency by up to 70 percent, predisposing patients to megaloblastic changes and cytopenias. Additional polymorphisms in MTHFD1, DHFR, CBS, and PEMT further strain folate and B12 utilization. Variants in FUT2, associated with reduced B12 absorption, exacerbate this risk. Together, these genetic differences can impair bone marrow output even in the absence of overt vitamin deficiency.
Nutrient Transport and Micronutrient Requirements
Micronutrients such as vitamin B6, iron, selenium, zinc, and copper are crucial for platelet formation. SNPs in NBPF3 may reduce B6 availability, while TFR2 variants can impair iron trafficking to the marrow. Alterations in SELENBP1 and PPCDC influence selenium and copper balance, both of which are critical for antioxidant defense and platelet enzyme activity. Deficiencies driven by genetic inefficiency may remain subclinical but contribute to persistent thrombocytopenia.
Detoxification and Oxidative Stress
Chemotherapy and environmental exposures generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and toxic metabolites that threaten marrow integrity. Detoxification enzymes such as GSTM1, GSTP1, and GPX1 neutralize these threats. Null or reduced-function variants diminish the clearance of xenobiotics such as benzene and pesticides, leading to marrow toxicity. ROS accumulation further damages megakaryocytes and circulating platelets, shortening their lifespan.
Immune Regulation and Autoimmunity
In addition to underproduction, thrombocytopenia may result from immune-mediated destruction. SNPs such as COMT V158M impair catecholamine clearance, increasing inflammatory tone. Variants in ADRB2 alter adrenergic signaling and immune balance, potentially predisposing to autoimmune platelet destruction resembling idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). These findings highlight how stress and immune dysregulation intersect with genetic background to influence platelet counts.
Iron and Copper Homeostasis
Iron and copper metabolism are essential to both hematopoiesis and coagulation. While no pathogenic variants in HFE were identified in this profile, inefficiencies in TFR2 and copper-related genes such as PPCDC may still impair mineral utilization. Suboptimal copper transport limits ceruloplasmin activity and clotting factor function, further contributing to platelet dysfunction.
Broader Genetic Contributors
Beyond the variants discussed, additional SNPs implicated in thrombocytopenia include polymorphisms in ITGA2B/ITGB3 (affecting platelet aggregation), THPO/MPL/JAK2 (altering thrombopoietin signaling), NQO1 (increasing susceptibility to benzene toxicity), and cytokine gene promoters such as TNF-α and IL-10 (influencing immune balance). These pathways underscore the polygenic nature of thrombocytopenia.
Clinical Implications
Recognition of SNP-related vulnerabilities allows for tailored supportive strategies. Functional assessments—including homocysteine, methylmalonic acid, B12 and folate red blood cell levels, iron and copper studies, and oxidative stress markers—can uncover hidden contributors to low platelet counts. Interventions may include active B-vitamin supplementation, micronutrient repletion, detoxification support with N-acetylcysteine or sulforaphane, and immune modulation through omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D. Integrating genetic insights into patient care may improve resilience during cancer therapy. Thrombocytopenia in cancer patients is often multifactorial. Beyond traditional causes such as marrow suppression or blood loss, SNPs affecting DNA repair, nutrient metabolism, detoxification, oxidative stress, and immune regulation significantly influence platelet biology. Incorporating genetic analysis into oncology care can identify patients at higher risk and guide precision-based interventions to preserve platelet health and optimize treatment outcomes.
