Hey, I’m Dr. Diane!

This is our third Summer issue dedicated exclusively to Energy Medicine and Healing and I’m excited to bring it back this year with some fantastic articles about healing the body with these amazing energy medicine modalities.

"I have always been a big believer in the ability to heal your body with your mind—I’ve seen it happen time after time in myself and people I know—and have heard countless stories from all of the holistic practitioners I meet and interact with."
—Dr. Diane Hayden, PhD

I have always been a big believer in the ability to heal your body with your mind—I’ve seen it happen time after time in myself and people I know—and have heard countless stories from all of the holistic practitioners I meet and interact with. How we create what we want is dependent on how well we can maintain an elevated level of emotion to tap in and to stay on the same vibratory level as our creation. The problem is that, as we go through our day, we experience challenges, problems, and negative interactions with others, and we slowly lose our elevated state. We become unconscious, so to speak, and go back to operating at a lower vibration or energy level. If this happens day after day, month after month, year after year, our body becomes conditioned or addicted to these negative emotions or thoughts. Over the years, the body begins to create programming that keeps us stuck in these negative emotions through unhealthy relationships, unfulfilling jobs, and even chronic disease. The scary thing is that we don’t even realize this is happening!

I hope this issue is thought-provoking and inspires you to delve further into the amazing realm of energy medicine and healing. I’d love to hear your stories on how you’ve healed your body!

Also check out the great pictures from our first annual 10BEST Awards party held in April, with many more to come!

Wishing you health and happiness,

Forcenturies, people have traveled thousands of miles to float in the salt-rich waters of the Dead Sea and seek out mineral springs worldwide. Today, top athletes around the globe stay at the top of their chosen field by floating in magnesium-rich tanks. The medical and physical results known have resulted in the invention of the modern-day float tank.

Hydrotherapy and rehabilitation centers have long known that floating in magnesium-rich tanks has multiple health benefits. Over the last century, thousands of medical studies have investigated and reported numerous findings on the benefits of hydrotherapy, in the form of floating, for the human body.

With excessive stress and insufficient rest and relaxation, the body will be unable to heal and perform optimally. Subsequent lack of sleep, inability to relax, and hormone issues only make the problem worse. The prevailing wisdom is that many, if not all, physical diseases likely stem from stress in some way or another. In addition to the benefits of reduced stress hormone production, the low-gravity environment and high magnesium salt concentration of the float pod water offer unique physical benefits to the user.

Following is a short list of user-reported and documented physical benefits of hydrotherapy, also known as floating. Users who have dedicated themselves to floating twice monthly using hydrotherapy have experienced many of these benefits.

Physical Benefits

Floating can help remove harmful substances, such as free radicals, from your body. Free radicals are small particles that can damage your cells and create inflammation, leading to the development of conditions such as cancer and autoimmune disorders. Maintaining a proper magnesium level throughout your lifetime can also promote bone and heart health, as well

Hydrotherapy by Floating: Achieving Better Health and Quality of Life

as improve insulin sensitivity, which can help prevent diabetes.

•Overall improved immune function

•Improvements in physical symptoms of stress

•Expedited healing of bones, joints, and support structures

•Improved physical recovery from bouts of exercise or training

•Spinal and structural relief and alignment

•Increased magnesium levels (the third most needed component for the body to run efficiently)

Lifestyle Enhancements

•General stress relief

•Physical pain management

•Improvements in insomnia and sleep disorders

•Improved sports and athletic performance

•Overcoming drug or prescription painkiller dependence

• Beneficial for pregnant women

Mental Benefits

•Profound relaxation

•Relief from depression and anxiety

•Improvements in post-traumatic stress disorder

•Relief from migraines and headaches

•Enhanced cognitive ability, learning, and visualization

Floating—for Better Overall Health

Consensus in the scientific and medical fields is that hydrotherapy can and will improve your health and quality of life when incorporated into your health program on a monthly basis.

If you want to achieve better health and quality of life, or if you want to maintain your healthy lifestyle, hydrotherapy floating can help you achieve that goal.

“Floating can help remove harmful substances, such as free radicals, from your body…. Maintaining a proper magnesium level throughout your lifetime can also promote bone and heart health, as well as improve insulin sensitivity, which can help prevent diabetes.”

Peter and Susie Bagwell I Love Oils, Inc. Training Center

10BEST Health Coach and 10BEST Personal Trainer

About twenty-five years ago, we were looking for healthcare options to care for our young children and family. After a friend recommended essential oils, we started down a path that would dramatically impact their future. Soon, a new career was born, along with a passion for wellness that continues to grow.

Susie became an essential oil expert and massage therapist and eventually opened her own spa near Detroit, Michigan. Peter eventually left his engineering career to teach classes on natural wellness and work as a CrossFit fitness trainer. Today, we operate the I Love Oils, Inc. Training Center in Fort Myers, Florida.

I Love Oils, Inc. offers a variety of products and services to help people easily transition to a more holistic lifestyle. We distribute essential oils, supplements, and various skin care products and offer classes and counseling to help individuals and families make meaningful changes in their routines.

“Essential oils are not just about aromatherapy anymore,” says Susie. “New studies have shown that when combined with some supplements, they can enhance and protect these substances as they make their way through the body. Additionally, the ability to support our own mental and emotional health using natural products is liberating and can help people bring joy back into a life burdened with stress.”

After booking a wellness assessment and consultation, customers can expect to meet with Susie for customized recommendations and a plan to start their own wellness journey. The plans offered include education about the latest innovations available and instructions on how to use the products. Common areas of support include nutrition, digestion, rest, and reducing toxicity.

Product solutions feature new advancements in the marketplace. “Our foundational wellness products include enhanced ingredients that are more bioavailable to the body and easy to use,” Susie says.

“It’s especially valuable as we age since some adult vitamins are just synthetically manufactured and don’t even include basic features like calcium.”

Peter brings his expertise from the gym into the next phase of support for their clients. After the initial assessment, recommendations are made to help clients continue to improve in areas of fitness, recovery, and foundational wellness. Peter also manages regular events and classes for their growing team.

One popular class offered at I Love Oils is called the AromaTouch training class, which is perfect for massage therapists but open to everyone. This in-person training demonstrates and explains an essential oil application that can be performed at home or as a complimentary wellness service.

“Our goal is to help people acquire the skills to be able to take control of their own health and wellness routines,” says Peter. “It’s a privilege to serve people this way and see them grow and start to help others themselves. I have gone from a career that used industrial oils to one that specializes in natural oils, and I think it’s a path that can benefit anyone who wants to get better.

“I remember working at the spa one day, and after Susie had helped a kind older woman with a massage, I stopped her as she was leaving. I asked, “Didn’t you have a cane when you came in? She felt so good that she had completely forgotten about it and had left it in the treatment room.

“That was a game-changing moment for me. I was so impressed and asked Susie what it was that helped her client so much. She told me that it was the power of the essential oils, and that really taught me what was possible with this lifestyle.”

If you are ready for a personal consultation or want to attend one of their events, get started at iloveoils.com or call 239.689.3649.

Environmental Factors and Fertility in the 21st Century

T“When was the last time a doctor asked you about your diet? How can a pill, maybe less than a gram of active ingredient, possibly reverse the effects of the pounds of poorquality “food” you eat every day? It’s as if you threw a chlorine tablet into a pool that’s green from mold and slime, expecting it to clean up the mess.”

—Dr. Carol L Roberts, MD

he young people of the world are facing health challenges that have never been seen before in history. So many suffer from autoimmune diseases, metabolic dysfunction, fertility challenges, and so many more.

What We’re Doing to the World— And to Ourselves

A century ago, there was very little heart disease, cancer was a rare event, and more people died of infectious diseases than of obesity. Anxiety and depression were unheard of, perhaps because of having a stigma attached that few were willing to admit to such problems. However, it is true that there has been an explosion of chronic illness in the younger population. Can we discover the cause of this unprecedented epidemic? Of course, we can. This is not rocket science, it’s biology.

It is especially worrisome that fertility in young people is declining. In the U.S., the number has fallen to 1.6 children per family, less than what is required to maintain the current population. In most countries, fertility rates have declined significantly over the past century. Not only that, but the incidence of neurodivergence—ADD, ADHD, autism, mental illness—is skyrocketing. Many young couples are opting not to procreate for fear of the way the world is going. Understandable, but lamentable for the human race. Will we disappear through illness and choice?

Let’s look at the trajectory of the 20th and 21st centuries. In the 1980s, we began to notice a concerning set of facts. Frogs were born with indeterminate sex. Alligators penises were shrinking! To what malevolent cause did we attribute this bizarre finding? It turns out that this is due to the use of industrial agricultural chemicals, which act

as hormone disruptors. When a pesticide molecule binds to a hormone receptor on a cell membrane, it can send a distorted signal to the cell, causing it to become deranged, disrupted, and dysfunctional. Two books were published around the same time: Silent Spring by Rachel Carson and Hormone Deception by D. Lindsey Berkson. Both described a world polluted by chemicals that would eventually lead to the death of many species, ultimately our own, through chemicals that send distorted messages to our reproductive systems. These chemicals are still in use. They are ubiquitous in our food supply and elsewhere and are commonly the cause of infertility. We can mitigate their effects through detoxification and improving our diet. Sadly, most doctors are largely unaware of the impact of environmental factors on our health.

Be Your Own Advocate— And Make Good Choices

When was the last time a doctor asked you about your diet? How can a pill, maybe less than a gram of active ingredient, possibly reverse the effects of the pounds of poor-quality “food” you eat every day? It’s as if you threw a chlorine tablet into a pool that’s green from mold and slime, expecting it to clean up the mess. Common sense is not the order of the day. Instead, we are to put all our hopes in the pharmaceutical industry, which creates novel molecules, mostly from petroleum, to treat symptoms created by imbalances that are never addressed.

So now we have created an industry that generates millions of dollars to force pregnancies that should be the easiest and most natural thing in the world. Reproduction is a fundamental of nature. How have we corrupted and exploited this natural

process, turning it into a profit-driven industry?

We’re led to believe it’s simply bad luck that some people can’t get pregnant, but this is not the case. Infertility represents a sabotage of the natural order of things.

If you are one of those affected, take heart. It is possible to harness natural processes to reverse the damage and reinvigorate the machinery of reproduction, the mandate of life, once again.

Similarly, the proliferation of illness in younger people has its causes, discoverable and fixable in most cases. However, your doctor may not be aware of this, as it is not taught in medical school, and there are many practitioners who, despite the prevailing opinion, can help you recover your health and have healthy babies.

About a week ago, I received an email from a woman I had treated twenty-four years ago. She had a low thyroid condition at the time that was not apparent on lab testing but was clear to any good clinician looking at her. I put her on thyroid replacement. She contacted me now, decades later, to tell me that the baby she was able to conceive a few months after seeing me was now graduating from college. Wow!

Infertility can be easy to treat, it can also be tricky, but it is always worth trying, because a cleaner, healthier body can be the outcome for the women (or the men, too), and that is a victory. Use your common sense and don’t line up for infertility treatments until you have cleaned up your body, making it a better incubator, no matter how you end up getting pregnant.

Likewise, chronic illness is never normal and must be treated through identifying and correcting root causes, not by taking pills or treatments that simply address symptoms. Be smart, do your research, and get clean—for yourself, your future, and your future children.

Dr. Carol L Roberts, MD, has been practicing medicine in Florida since 1978. In the early 1990s, I transitioned from a board-certified ear, nose, and throat surgeon and emergency medicine doctor to a holistic/integrative/functional doctor with a unique approach to addressing chronic illness by identifying the root causes and correcting them. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, longevity medicine, and alternative/complementary cancer treatments are my special strengths. Having practiced in Naples for thirteen years, I am now based in Sarasota and continue to see many of my Naples patients there. Appointments can be made by calling 941.404.8030. How Your Own Blood Stimulates Healing and Regeneration

P“PRP treatments are safe with no significant complications reported and carry a seventyfive percent success rate of decreased pain and inflammation with increased mobility and function.

Treatments can be repeated as needed, and they do not interfere with a surgical procedure if a patient chooses to pursue a surgical option.”

—Dr. Steven Case, MD

latelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a cutting-edge treatment that utilizes the patient’s own blood to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration. We draw a small amount of the patient’s blood and process it in an FDAapproved centrifuge through a double-spin process. This separates the platelets and powerful growth factors from your red blood cells and concentrates them up to ten times their usual concentration. These platelets are a standard component of your blood, and they travel to an area of injury to release more than fifty protein growth factors to initiate healing, decrease inflammation, and reduce pain.

Once super concentrated, these platelets are then injected into the affected area of injury or chronic pain and inflammation. These growth factors promote tissue breakdown and repair locally, and recruit further healing processes from nearby vascular stem cells and bone marrow cellular elements. We use these “super” platelets to accelerate your body’s natural healing and regeneration.

These health conditions have been scientifically shown to benefit from PRP treatments:

•Osteoarthritis

•Acute sports-related injury

•Tendon-related injuries:

•Rotator cuff tendonitis and tears

•Biceps tendonitis

•Tennis/golfer’s elbow

•Achilles tendonitis

•Patellar tendonitis

•Plantar fasciitis

•Ligament injuries:

•Knee MCl

•Ankle sprains

What Can I Expect on the Day of My Treatment?

You will be in the office between one and one and a half hours for treatment. You will be asked to hydrate on the morning of the procedure to maximize the blood draw. A small amount of blood will be drawn and immediately processed in the office for ten to fifteen minutes. The affected joint or injury site will be anesthetized with a topical and local anesthetic prior to injection. The PRP will then be injected into the affected area, sometimes with ultrasound guidance. Ice will be applied to the area for comfort, and a brace, sling, or crutches may be prescribed for additional support.

Post-PRP activity restrictions and pain control with over-the-counter medications will be reviewed. A prescription for physical therapy will be provided, and pain medication may be prescribed as necessary for significant pain. A routine follow-up appointment will be scheduled at four weeks to review the results.

How Soon Will I Feel the Benefits of PRP Treatment?

It is typical to experience moderate discomfort for the first several days following your PRP treatment. This will vary depending on the condition treated. Sports-related tendon treatments may experience more discomfort and swelling than degenerative joint treatments. Physical therapy, ice, acetaminophen, and other pain medications, along with activity restriction, will significantly reduce discomfort and swelling. Most patients experience relief between two and four weeks following treatment, with accelerated improvement between one and six months.

What Are the Long-Term Results?

Well-designed orthopedic studies have verified twelve months of pain relief and improved function following PRP treatments. In addition, if hyaluronic acid is added to this PRP treatment, it may prolong this relief to eighteen months.

Am I a Good Candidate for PRP Treatment?

If you suffer from moderate to severe arthritis with minimal deformity and you don’t wish to pursue steroid injection, or if steroid injections no longer work for you, you are a good candidate to try PRP with or without hyaluronic acid. If you suffer from a chronic sports-related injury or tendonitis and wish to avoid an orthopedic surgery, PRP may be the answer for you. PRP treatment following a rotator cuff repair has been shown to decrease the retear rate by fifty percent!

PRP treatments are safe with no significant complications reported and carry a seventy-five percent success rate of decreased pain and inflammation with increased mobility and function. Treatments can be repeated as needed, and they do not interfere with a surgical procedure if a patient chooses to pursue a surgical option. Steroids, on the other hand, put patients at two to three times the risk of infection from surgery for a period of three to six months.

At Body Restore of Naples, we are dedicated to helping patients suffering from arthritisrelated joint pain and sports-related injury. We use state-of-the-art platelet-rich plasma and stem cell therapies to optimize your body’s repair and regenerative processes. Every patient is thoroughly evaluated to ensure they are suitable candidates for treatment. We offer the best platelet-rich plasma processing system available on the market today, and our scientifically backed procedures can provide significant pain relief and improved joint mobility and function to eighty percent of well-selected patients with twelve months of relief.

Dr. Steven Case, MD, is a boardcertified orthopedic surgeon with over twenty years of experience in sports medicine and joint replacement surgeries. He is the only orthopedic surgeon in South Florida with a practice solely focused on avoiding surgery using these cell-based therapies. Can Niagen Plus Change How We Look at Aging?

“Intravenous Niagen Plus is an infusion therapy that has been shown to significantly improve certain cardiovascular health factors. Physical activity may even become easier and more sustainable. NR works by helping your body produce its own NAD+, rather than delivering it directly. This approach allows for better absorption, fewer side effects, and a faster infusion time.”

—Lori Hubbard, MA

We’ve been hearing about the incredible benefits of NAD+ for some time, but what if there were something available that worked even better for energy and anti-aging?

The use of NAD+ IV therapy continues to gain in popularity in those looking for ways to increase their energy and enhance their longevity more naturally. NAD+ infusions may support important factors in the anti-aging process, including cellular health, energy metabolism, and physical performance, but the potential downsides could make some people hesitant to try it. With the potential for some unpleasant side effects and longer IV treatment sessions, it is natural to wonder if there is a better way to get the benefits of intravenous NAD+.

Niagen Plus is a new form of NAD+ IV therapy that uses a pharmaceutical-grade NAD+ precursor to provide a more natural way to boost your NAD+ levels—with fewer and milder potential side effects, faster infusion times, and more benefits than traditional NAD+ infusions. The significant difference between these therapies lies in the ingredients of the IV solutions. While NAD+ IV solutions contain NAD+, Niagen Plus is a form of nicotinamide riboside (NR), which research suggests offers benefits for healthy aging and energy, potentially surpassing the benefits of direct NAD+ therapy.

Let’s look at this treatment in greater detail.

What Is Niagen Plus?

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a powerful form of vitamin B3 that helps your body naturally increase its NAD+ levels, essential for energy production, cellular repair, and healthy aging.

Naigen Plus studies have indicated that it can boost NAD+ at the cellular level, safely and effectively raising levels of NAD+ in the blood

with minimal or no side effects. Clinical trials also show that Niagen Plus supports metabolism, heart health, and cognitive function. Research also indicates that its use has helped to elevate the body’s natural NAD+ levels in the blood or in skeletal muscle in adults of all ages, weights, and levels of wellness, meaning physical activity may even become easier and more sustainable.

Intravenous Niagen Plus, an infusion therapy that has been shown to significantly improve certain cardiovascular health factors, offers faster and more efficient delivery and absorption. NR works by helping your body produce its own NAD+, rather than delivering it directly. This approach allows for better absorption, fewer side effects, and a faster infusion time.

Why Niagen Plus Is Preferable to NAD+ Therapy

Niagen Plus has longer-lasting effects, supporting sustained NAD+ levels by boosting your body's own production, compared to the temporary spike that occurs with direct NAD+ infusions. Studies also show that Niagen Plus infusions can lead to faster and more significant increases in blood NAD+ levels compared to NAD+ IVs. It is also tolerated more readily than NAD+ infusions, the infusion process is faster, and there are fewer side effects. It’s a smarter, gentler way to experience the same rejuvenating benefits.

Niagen Plus is an NAD+ precursor that can help boost your body's natural NAD+ levels. This can contribute to healthy aging and energy levels by supporting cellular function and repair. Niagen may be a more convenient and longer-lasting option compared to direct NAD+ therapy, offering a smarter way to support cellular health and energy.

Further benefits of Niagen Plus for healthy aging and increased energy include the following:

• Promotes Cellular Energy: NAD+ is vital for mitochondrial function (cellular powerhouses), and boosting its levels with Niagen Plus can support cellular energy production.

• Supports DNA Repair: Can enhance DNA repair, potentially slowing cellular aging and reducing DNA damage.

• Improved Metabolism: May help regulate metabolism and healthy body composition.

• Improved Brain Health: cognitive function, and Niagen Plus may help protect against age-related cognitive decline.

Support and Supplement Your Niagen Plus IV Therapy

Because Niagen Plus is showing efficacy superior to NAD+, helping to increase energy, as well as its anti-aging potential, consider a Niagen Plus protocol coupled with The Restoration (hydration drip) from The DRIPBaR. The Restoration helps flush toxins out of your body and provides you with micronutrients, antioxidants, and fluids to help accelerate your rehydration and recovery. Or pair your Niagen Plus IV therapy with our Powerpack protocol—it's like getting a bag full of energy! Free-radical neutralizing antioxidants and mitochondrial enhancing micronutrients... no wonder this is one of our most popular drips. As its name implies, this drip can be a source of energy-boosting, micronutrient-enhancing health support to keep you going through summer.

The DRIPBaR's NR infusion supports increased energy, improved focus, enhanced metabolism, and long-term wellness. Whether you’re looking to combat fatigue, boost performance, or support healthy aging, NR is a convenient and effective solution to help you feel your best.

Dave and Nick, co-owners of The DRIPBaR Naples, are the perfect team to provide health and wellness options. A retired pharmacist who owned a PCAB-accredited compounding pharmacy with a USP 797-compliant lab, Dave brings his expertise in compounding to The DRIPBaR Naples. Nick’s role is more business-focused, seeing the need for this unique community wellness opportunity in Naples. The “F ” Word: Fluoride— A 70-Year Controversy

WhenI was in dental school, we were taught that fluoride was like a vitamin. They taught us how to prescribe this “supplement”—even to pregnant women.

That was then—science changes! Those of us who keep up with the research understand now that fluoride is not that wonderful game changer that would end cavities. The aim of science is not to open the door to infinite wisdom, but to set a limit to infinite error.

The Truth About Fluoride

I wrote my first article on fluoride over fifteen years ago. I never published it for fear of losing my license and having my dental peers blacklist me from the dental community. Today, the evidence and research-based science is overwhelming—the research-based evidence is in favor of the “no fluoride” understanding. The truth is that it is extremely easy to search for this information. The meta-analysis research is easily accessible to anyone; simply search the medical publication PubMed.com.

Unfortunately, many “scholars” are still standing by the 1950s idea that “fluoride is beneficial especially in low-income sectors,” or that “topical fluoride hardens tooth structure,” without considering that fluoride is everywhere: in our water, processed foods, and pharmaceuticals. Drugs used and prescribed every day worldwide contain some fluoride; for example, statins, antibiotics, antidiabetics, and inhaled anesthetics. Of concern is that, according to studies, approximately fifty percent of ingested fluoride is absorbed into the bones.

A thin strip of fluoride covering a child’s toothbrush contains 0.75–1.5 mg, which exceeds “recommended” amounts even by prescription. Even more worrisome is that fluoride is cumulative.

Would you give your child anything that had a black box warning from the FDA that says, “If more than a pea-sized amount is ingested, call POISON CONTROL”? This warning is on every fluoride toothpaste. Do you use a PEA-SIZED amount of toothpaste?!

As Dr. Mark Briener states in his article, “The Brain-Mouth Connection,” in Natural Nutmeg magazine, “How do you justify giving the same dose of any drug to an infant as to a two-hundredpound man?” And according to the FDA, fluoride is considered a drug.

The Facts

The idea of fluoride in our water is not inherently bad; it makes it easier to strengthen teeth and prevent cavities, but at what cost? Studies now show that the rate of cavities is increasing despite the increase in education on cavity prevention, the increase in fluoride in our water supplies, and pharmaceuticals. I have been even more shocked to learn about the unexpected and worrisome side effects that fluoride is creating.

There is a vast amount of research supporting the idea that fluoride is not the healthy supplement it has been purported to be—I have over one hundred recent research studies (there are many more—I have only included those within the last ten years) showing undisputed evidence that this increase in fluoride has led to hip fractures, increase in thyroid deficiencies, and a decrease in IQ levels in children. These aren’t just stories—these are reputable medical journals and PubMed Research.

Some important and interesting facts include the following:

•The number of cavities worldwide, even after water fluoridation and fluoride treatments, has NOT decreased in relation to fluoride use. The WHO data since the 1970s states, “Although the prevalence of cavities has declined, the majority of worldwide communities that do not fluoridate, or those that never adopted fluoridation, have also experienced a reduction in cavities exceeding 75%.”

•Ninety-seven percent of Western Europe has rejected water fluoridation.

•The FDA has poison warnings on all fluoride toothpastes.

• The FDA states fluoride is a drug, not a nutrient.

•Fluoride is a known enzyme disruptor.

•Fluoride anti-cavity activity depends on the calcium and magnesium content in enamel.

•National Academy of Sciences: Fluoride decreases thyroid function.

• An increase in fluoride exposure contributes to hypothyroidism.

•Harvard meta-analysis: Children ingesting higher levels of fluoride tested had an average of seven fewer IQ points.

•Fluoride is NOT essential in growth and development.

•Fluoride is an unwanted by-product of aluminum, fertilizer, and iron ore manufacture.

• The amount of fluoride in water systems cannot be measured accurately; only an estimate can be made.

• To remove fluoride from water, a reverse osmosis system is required.

Biological Dentistry as a Solution

Biological dentists perform the same treatments conventional dentists do; for instance, we numb patients, restore teeth, take radiographs, and follow infection control standards. By maintaining optimal dental health holistically, a

biological dentist aims to improve whole-body well-being and longevity. We use the least toxic approach in the world of dentistry and supplement it with all-natural and pure alternatives while maintaining the highest standards. This is biological dentistry.

Dentists have historically been taught that all aspects of dentistry are safe, and any toxicity is downplayed. We were even taught that fluoride is a vitamin! However, biological dentists believe that many conventional dental materials are toxic— mercury, fluoride, BPA, and Bis-GMA top the list.

I’m not in favor of banning anything. I still believe in patient autonomy. But I am also not in favor of mandating anything. Why force it on anyone? If someone wants a fluoride treatment, they can visit a dentist who supplies fluoride and even obtain a prescription for high-fluoride products.

We are all on the same side—we all want there to be fewer cavities in teeth and improved dental health. Unfortunately, research and experience indicate that fluoride is not the solution we had hoped it would be.

Thankfully, there is emerging evidence and research supporting new products like hydroxyapatite (the mineral teeth are made of). These products are as effective, if not more so, than fluoride at preventing tooth decay, without sacrificing our health.

So, let’s NOT use that “F” word anymore!

An Update

Beginning July 1, 2025, Florida will no longer add fluoride to our water supply! We are the second state (Utah was the first) in the nation. Finally! The disconnect between established practice and emerging research demonstrates the tension between consensus and evidence. It is time for health professionals and all professional bodies to stop being entrenched in established dogmas. The reluctance to embrace new evidence leads to a dangerous status quo: practitioners remain unaware of, or unwilling to confront, the potential harms of their recommendations.

Back Pain: The #1 Accelerator of the Aging Process

Nearly“Or maybe it starts with a few aches during golf. Then one day, your back flares up so bad you’re forced to stop playing. And next thing you know, even bending down to pick up a pencil feels risky— because you’re afraid your back will “go out.”

—Dr. Jake Berman, PT, DPT

eighty percent of Americans will experience back pain at some point in their life. And if you’ve ever had it—even just once— you know it’s one of the most debilitating things you can go through.

Why? Because it’s nearly impossible to move, walk, or even sit comfortably without using your back. Back pain is the number one reason why people stop doing the things they love as they get older. It’s why golfers stop golfing, why gardeners stop gardening…and here’s the brutal truth.

Back Pain Is the #1 Accelerator of Aging

Think about that for a minute.

Most people don’t consider themselves “old” until they can’t do something they want to do. Like when your little kids ask you to run around with them at the playground, and you make an excuse because deep down you’re thinking, “No way—I’m way too old for that.”

Or maybe it starts with a few aches during golf. Then one day, your back flares up so bad you’re forced to stop playing. And next thing you know, even bending down to pick up a pencil feels risky— because you’re afraid your back will “go out.”

And that’s the moment independence starts to slip away. It goes downhill fast from there.

Here’s the problem: Back pain is so painful and scary that we often assume it’s more complicated than it is.

To make things worse, your X-ray or MRI shows “degeneration at L4–5,” “herniation at L3–4,” or “narrowing of XYZ.” Your doctor hands you pills, injections, or a referral to a surgeon. And because most people don’t understand biomechanics, they catastrophize it. They believe the only solution is surgery… or worse, that they’ve got a “bad back” and they’ll just have to live with it.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Here’s the Good News

Ninety-nine percent of the time, surgery, injections, and pain pills are NOT the right solution. And ninety-nine percent of the time, the actual source of your back pain isn’t your spine at all— it’s your pelvis. More specifically, it’s your sacroiliac (SI) joint, where your spine connects to your pelvis. When this joint becomes unstable, even something as small as a cough can trigger sharp pain or a deep, dull ache that never seems to go away.

Let me say this loud and clear: It is extremely rare that the scary stuff on your MRI is causing your pain. I’ve helped thousands of people get back to a pain-free, high-quality life—even with some of the ugliest MRIs I’ve ever seen. And here’s a fun fact: their MRI still looks the same after their pain is gone. That’s because MRI findings can correlate with your pain, but they aren’t usually the cause of it.

So, What Is the Cause?

Most nontraumatic back pain comes from something I call WAS—Weak Ass Syndrome (hopefully you chuckled, but I’m quite serious). Your glutes are supposed to be the strongest muscles in your body, but when you sit on them all day for years, they weaken. And when one glute gets weaker than the other (which is very common), it throws off the stability of your pelvis. That asymmetry leads to SI joint instability and, ultimately, back pain. So, how do you fix it?

You must stabilize the SI joint. And that requires proper glute and core strengthening. Notice I said proper. Not just “go do some squats or bridges.” If it were that easy, you wouldn’t still be in pain.

Most people don’t get this part right because they try to follow cookie-cutter YouTube videos or outdated physical therapy routines. However, to truly address the root problem, your exercises must be performed 100% correctly, with the proper activation, alignment, and progression.

That’s where coaching comes in. You need a coach who’s walked this road before—someone with a proven track record of getting results. You need someone who…

• Doesn’t rely on cookie-cutter PT

• Doesn’t believe surgery or pills are the only way

• Cares more about your outcome than your insurance policy

Sometimes, finding that coach can be tough. At other times, it’s as simple as opening your podcast app and searching for “The Berman Method Podcast,” or visiting BermanPT.com to see dozens of video testimonials from real people just like you who have gotten their lives back.

If you’re tired of living with back pain—or even just worried it’s heading that way—don’t ignore it. It doesn’t have to be this way. You can stop the aging spiral. You can stay independent. You can get back to doing what you love. Let us show you how.

Dr. Jake Berman, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist and the owner of Berman Physical Therapy, where they focus on treating the actual problem causing your symptoms (pain) to help you avoid taking pain pills and dangerous surgeries. Unlocking Health: The Power of Functional Medicine Testing

Functional medicine testing, paired with comprehensive blood testing, provides a transformative approach to managing chronic disease. Unlike conventional medicine, which often relies on minimal testing to address symptoms, functional medicine delves deeper, uncovering root causes and personal deficits to create tailored health strategies. By identifying imbalances in gut health, detoxification pathways, and nutrient levels, this approach empowers individuals to improve overall health through targeted interventions.

The Limitations of Minimal Testing

Standard medical evaluations typically include basic blood panels, such as complete blood count (CBC) or lipid profiles, which provide a snapshot of health but often miss underlying issues. For example, a standard thyroid test might check TSH levels but overlook free T3, free T4, or thyroid antibodies, which are critical for diagnosing subclinical hypothyroidism. Similarly, chronic fatigue or brain fog might be dismissed without testing for nutrient deficiencies, inflammation markers, or heavy metal toxicity. Minimal testing can leave patients with unresolved symptoms, delaying effective treatment.

Comprehensive Testing for Personalized Insights

Functional medicine emphasizes extensive testing to map out an individual’s health landscape. Key areas include:

• Gut Health: Hair analysis assesses mineral imbalances and toxic metal accumulation, which may reflect gut dysfunction. Imbalances, such as leaky gut or dysbiosis, are linked to autoimmune diseases, allergies, and mental health issues.

• Nutrient Deficiencies: Blood tests measure vitamins (e.g., D, B12) and fatty acids, while hair analysis evaluates minerals (e.g., magnesium, zinc), revealing deficiencies that impact energy, immunity, and cognition.

• Detoxification and Heavy Metals: Blood tests assess liver function and oxidative stress, while hair analysis detects heavy metal levels (e.g., mercury, lead), identifying barriers to detoxification that can contribute to chronic disease.

• Hormonal Balance: Blood panels evaluate cortisol, sex hormones, and insulin, while hair analysis offers insights into chronic cortisol exposure, addressing fatigue, weight gain, or mood disorders.

• Inflammation and Autoimmunity: Blood tests measure markers like C-reactive protein (CRP) or antinuclear antibodies (ANA) to detect systemic inflammation or autoimmune activity, complementing hair analysis for mineral imbalances that may exacerbate these conditions.

These tests provide a roadmap, revealing which systems need support and in what order.

Our Health Future with Functional Medicine

In some ways, the differences that separate functional and traditional medicine are not only ideological and philosophical but also education and training: while traditional medicine is largely focused on “managing” medical problems (i.e., hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia), functional medicine is significantly interested in and focused on determining the root cause to treat and possibly eliminate chronic conditions, through the promotion of lifestyles and behaviors that support overall health, emphasizing food, herbs, supplements, and natural remedies.

• Proactive healthcare versus reactive. Integrative and functional medicine testing can tell us where we need to begin improving our health and reversing chronic disease.

• Patient participation is essential to making positive lifestyle changes. Your healthcare team can test, educate, and guide you to personalize your health improvement journey.

• Select the healthcare team that aligns with your goals. It’s important that you and your team are on the same page to set health goals, put a plan together, track your progress, and help you get to the finish line.

• Be open to technology. Your personal information is what helps in the tweaking process. With your team and the information, you learn how to make better health-related decisions.

• Functional medicine physician-led consultations. Your physician looks for the root cause of the disease rather than treating symptoms. Longer meetings with physicians lead to a significantly more individualized, comprehensive understanding of you.

Phased Interventions for Optimal Health

Managing chronic disease through functional medicine involves a phased approach, guided by test results:

• Gut Cleanup: A healthy gut is foundational. Testing may indicate the need for probiotics, digestive enzymes, or an elimination diet to reduce inflammation and heal the gut lining.

For example, addressing small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) can alleviate bloating and improve nutrient absorption.

• Detoxification: If tests show heavy metal toxicity or impaired liver function, targeted detox protocols—such as chelation therapy or antioxidants like glutathione—can clear toxins. This phase enhances the body’s ability to eliminate waste and reduces disease triggers.

• Supplementation: Personalized supplementation corrects deficiencies. For instance, low vitamin D levels may require high-dose supplementation, while omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce inflammation. Testing ensures dosages are precise, avoiding overor under-supplementation.

• Ongoing Monitoring: Follow-up testing tracks progress, allowing adjustments to diet, lifestyle, or supplement use. This dynamic approach ensures sustained improvements.

Empowering Health Through Knowledge

Functional medicine testing shifts the focus from symptom management to root-cause resolution. By combining detailed blood work with hair analysis, individuals gain clarity about their unique health challenges. This knowledge enables precise interventions, from gut repair to detoxification and supplementation, fostering long-term wellness. For those battling chronic disease, comprehensive testing is not just an option— it’s a critical step toward reclaiming health.

The Toughest Six Inches in Golf

(and What You Can Do About It)

If you love the game of golf and you’ve been around it for any amount of time, you are very aware that the toughest six inches in golf are between the ears. In other words, the hardest part of golf is the mental hurdles you have to overcome.

Maybe you have tee box anxiety—not knowing if the ball is going to go left, right, straight, topped, or pop fly. Or you’re facing a three-foot putt that you would make one hundred percent of the time on the putting green, but when there’s a birdie on the line, you push it to the right and blow it past the hole by a foot. Either way, this game can be brutal. It can leave you standing there wondering, “What the hell just happened?” Especially when it’s a “simple” chip shot to give yourself a nice birdie opportunity, and you end up chunking it two feet or skulling it across and off the green entirely.

And to make things even worse, you can make a perfect shot on the very next swing—the one that doesn’t even matter. You know the one—that “just for practice” shot after you flubbed it… just to prove to yourself that you can actually do it. That’s where the saying “My B-player is a scratch golfer” comes from.

It’s Even Tough for the Pros!

You’ll even see this mental battle play out with the pros. One weekend, they win the Masters, and the very next weekend, they don’t even make the cut. I truly believe that this is part of what makes this game so addictive, because anyone, regardless of skill level, has the ability to hit a shot as good as a pro (even if it’s just once). And on the flip side, even the pros can hit shots just as badly as we amateurs.

Take Rory McIlroy as a perfect example. This past year at the Masters, on Sunday, playing hole 13 at Augusta National—Azalea—he was in a perfect position. He had just 82 yards left. A shot he’d put within five feet one hundred times out of one hundred on the practice green. And what does he do? He shanks it straight into the water. He had the physical ability. He had the perfect lie. He had the right club in hand. And yet—splash. Double bogey. It dramatically reduced his chances of finally completing the career grand slam.

Fortunately, Rory is mentally strong enough to bounce back. He clawed his way back and ultimately won. But the question is—what do we amateurs do after a shank like that?

We beat ourselves up. We call ourselves names. We say things out loud (or under our breath) that we’d never say to anyone else.

And for the sake of keeping this kid-friendly, I’ll let you fill in the blanks with the choice four-letter words you’ve probably heard—or said—after a bad shot. (Of course, you’d never do that…right?)

Becoming “That Golfer”— And Rising Above It

I remember when I first got into golf—it was just after grad school—and I’d be out playing with friends who were significantly better than I was. I’d laugh at them when they cursed themselves after hitting a bad shot. I honestly couldn’t understand how they could care that much or get that angry. At that time, I had no expectations. I was just happy to be outside, hanging out with the guys, drinking beers.

Back then, most of my shots were bad, and I knew it. So when I hit a good one, I was pleasantly surprised. I even remember saying, “I’ll never be that guy who gets pissed off about a bad shot.”

Fast forward a few years… and I started getting better. I started shaving strokes. And guess what happened? Yep—I became that guy. That golfer.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

I’m happy to say that it didn’t last long, though. Around that same time, I came across a quote from Bruce Lee that hit me like a ton of bricks:

“Don’t speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn’t know the difference. Words are energy, and they cast spells—that’s why it’s called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.”

For some reason, that quote really resonated with me. Like, deeply. It reminded me of another one of my all-time favorite quotes, this one from Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can, or you can’t—you’re right.”

Let that one sink in for a minute. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard truer words.

Now let’s bring this back to golf.

How many times have you stood on the tee box of a par 3 with water to the right, thinking, “Whatever you do, just don’t go right.” And what happens? The ball takes a huge turn to the right— splash—right into the water.

How many times have you had your driver in hand, thinking, “Please don’t slice. Please don’t slice.” You even aim way left to compensate. And then what happens? Boom—banana slice, out of bounds.

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t— you’re right.”
—Henry Ford
“Don’t speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn’t know the difference. Words are energy, and they cast spells— that’s why it’s called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.”
—Bruce Lee

This isn’t just a fluke. It’s not bad luck. And no, the water doesn’t have some weird magnetic pull that only attracts your golf ball. What’s happening is you’re reinforcing your own fears with your thoughts. And the more you say it—“Don’t slice,” “Don’t suck,” “Don’t go right”—the more you do just that.

Over time, this kind of negative self-talk can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Most golfers don’t even realize how powerful their thoughts are. Instead of changing the mental script, we just chalk it up to “that’s golf” or mumble, “Man, I suck.”

But here’s the truth: You don’t need a new driver. You don’t need to aim farther left. You just need to put more positive energy out into the universe— and get rid of that negative B.S.

Enough with the Negative

For a lot of golfers I’ve worked with, this is by far the fastest way to shave strokes off your scorecard. Most people are physically capable of hitting consistent shots. The problem is that they haven’t learned how to control their physical abilities, and that lack of control opens the door to negative thoughts and poor results.

Let me explain using something completely different: handwriting.

If you’ve written with your right hand your entire life, you could sit in a pitch-black room, blindfolded, and still write a legible paragraph. Why? Because your brain knows exactly how to control the muscles in your right hand and forearm. It’s automatic. Now try doing that same task with your left hand.

You know what the letters are supposed to look like. You’ve seen them your whole life. You even have the same anatomy in your left arm. But because you haven’t trained your brain to control those muscles in that way, your left-handed writing will look like that of a five-year-old.

You can imagine what to do, but you haven’t trained the movement. And this is exactly what’s happening in your golf swing.

We all have a pretty good idea of what the golf swing should look like. We’ve seen the videos, the breakdowns, the slow-motion replays. But nobody’s ever taught you how to train your brain to move your anatomy to create that swing.

Let’s go back to the handwriting analogy.

When kids learn to write, they don’t start with full paragraphs. They start by tracing dotted capital letters. Then lowercase letters. Then three-letter words. Then five-word sentences. They trace and trace and trace until eventually, they’re able to freehand a word…then a sentence…and finally a full paragraph.

In golf, we skip all those steps and jump straight to golf lessons where someone tells us how to swing. That would be like standing over my daughter’s shoulder, yelling instructions as she tries to write a paragraph, without ever letting her trace a single letter.

It would be an absolute disaster.

We’d both end up frustrated and confused. Sound familiar? Have you ever left a golf lesson feeling worse than when you showed up?

Well, that’s why.

Enter: The Berman Method of Golf Performance

My method is different. I don’t just coach the swing—I teach your body how to trace the letters. I help you train your brain to control your body so you can physically execute the movements required for a consistent swing.

Most of what I teach in my programs is exactly that—tracing letters. I put your body into golfspecific positions and help you recruit the right muscles in that position.

Over time, that builds confidence—because now you know how to move.

And when you step onto the course with confidence instead of doubt, everything changes. Confidence leads to better outcomes. Better outcomes reinforce your confidence. Confidence breeds positive thoughts. Positive thoughts create positive energy.

And before you know it, that becomes your self-fulfilling prophecy.

Let’s Bring It All Full Circle

Golf can be so much more enjoyable with a simple mindset shift—from negative to positive. And the fastest, simplest way to do that is to “learn how to write.”

Let’s stop the madness of comparing your swing (your five-year-old handwriting) to a pro’s (a college professor’s essay) and just expecting results.

If this article resonates with you, the next step is simple: give me a call. I’ll tell you in five minutes over the phone whether I think we’re a good fit. No B.S., no pressure, and no wasting your time or money.

It’s time to ditch the negativity, stop beating yourself up, and start playing golf that’s consistent, enjoyable, and something you’re proud of.

Sound Healing Meets Modern Medicine: How StemWave™ Brings Regeneration

Energymedicine has long been a foundational pillar of holistic healing. From acupuncture and Reiki to reflexology and Polarity Therapy, these approaches work by engaging the body’s subtle energy systems—the unseen “life force” that influences vitality, regulation, and repair.

For generations, both practitioners and patients have witnessed profound improvements through these methods, often in cases where conventional treatments have fallen short.

A Brief History of Sound Healing

For millennia, sound has played a unique role in this world of subtle healing. Ancient Egyptians used chanting. Tibetans and Himalayans traditionally used singing bowls. Other indigenous cultures used rattles, flutes, or drums in their healing ceremonies. Tuning forks can be used to entrain the nervous system, calm the mind, and create a deep sense of balance.

Our modern diagnostic ultrasound sends high-frequency acoustic waves into the body to create real-time images of the internal structures. Recently, another form of sound-based technology has emerged—one that’s creating significant breakthroughs in the realm of chronic pain and musculoskeletal recovery: StemWave.

StemWaveTM: A Modern Spin on an Age-Old Practice

StemWave therapy speaks to that same life force, just in a different language. Instead of using needles, hands, or traditional vibrational tools, it applies mechanical energy in the form of acoustic waves that reach deep into tissues and stimulate cellular repair.

Unlike other similar-sounding “wave technologies” marketed for joint or soft tissue pain, only StemWave uses true electrohydraulic “shock waves”—a more powerful, precisely targeted form of mechanical energy that activates healing deep within the body. These electrohydraulic shock waves are created by generating a spark in water, which produces focused energy that travels rapidly through tissues and signals your body’s own stem cells and growth factors to initiate repair. The result is a biological cascade that boosts blood flow, reduces inflammation, enhances cellular communication, and supports long-term tissue regeneration—all without the need for drugs, surgery, injections, or downtime.

Shockwave therapy itself isn’t new. It has been part of conventional medicine for decades, first introduced to break up kidney stones and later adapted for use in orthopedic and regenerative

care. However, with the development of the FDA-registered StemWave device, this trusted technology has been refined into a gentle, noninvasive therapy that can be used to treat areas of chronic inflammation, injury, and degeneration with exceptional precision and safety.

What makes StemWave unique isn’t just what it does, but how it does it. The therapy is nonthermal and noninvasive. It doesn’t apply heat or introduce electricity into the body, which means it doesn’t override your biology or impose an external “fix.” Instead, it uses mechanical sound energy to communicate with the body, providing a precise “nudge” to jump-start repair.

StemWave is being used on a wide range of people, from athletes with overuse injuries to aging adults with chronic stiffness and pain. It supports a wide range of inflammatory conditions, including arthritis, tendinitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, sprains, neuropathies, and more. It’s especially valuable for those hoping to avoid (or delay) surgeries (like joint replacements), for those who want to accelerate the healing process post-surgery, or for those still struggling with persistent pain long after surgery.

Help Your Body Heal

As a naturopathic physician, I firmly believe in the body’s innate ability to heal, especially when provided with the right conditions and tools. StemWave fits seamlessly into this philosophy. It’s a high-tech therapy that honors the body’s

inner wisdom, working by stimulating your own regenerative processes rather than imposing an outside solution.

What excites me most as a holistic practitioner is how elegantly this technology bridges modern regenerative science with time-honored principles of holistic healing. Many of the patients I see have spent years chasing temporary fixes—ice and heat packs, steroid injections, over-thecounter pain relievers, and prescription medications—without making real progress. Many of these individuals have been told they’re out of options—or that surgery is their only option. StemWave offers a new paradigm: not to mask symptoms or delay decline, but to regain function, working with the body, not against it.

Most importantly, it’s a therapy that aligns beautifully with a holistic lifestyle. It doesn’t require you to stop other treatments, and it pairs well with nutrition, herbs, movement, acupuncture, homeopathy, bodywork, and stress reduction. In fact, when used as part of a broader naturopathic protocol, StemWave often helps amplify your results, such as activating the body’s repair signal, allowing everything else to work more effectively. In my practice, I use StemWave not only as a tool for pain relief but also to unlock the deeper healing potential that may be trapped beneath layers of inflammation, stagnation, or unresolved injury. Whether recovering from a sports injury, struggling with arthritis, or simply trying to feel at home in your body again, this gentle yet powerful therapy may be exactly what your healing protocol has been missing. And while StemWave isn’t a miracle cure, I’ve seen it help people move better, feel stronger, and reconnect with their bodies in empowering ways.

Because when your body is reminded how to heal—not forced, not overridden, but gently reminded—your energy starts to shift. You move differently. You sleep better. You begin to feel like yourself again.

Got Pain?

What“A doctor told me that Robotic Therapy was the most effective, least invasive therapy someone could try. Even less invasive than taking overthe-counter pain medication.”
—K. Wasserman

a loaded question that is! Most people will respond either “Sure, everyone has pain,” or “Of course, I’m old!” or “No, I don’t have any pain” as they limp away!

The truth is that most of us have simply accepted the presence of pain in our lives. We reconcile ourselves to this falsehood with some version of one of the three answers listed above.

A Real Solution?

So, if the truth is that most people have pain, then the second question is, what have you done about it, or what options are available? You might be problem-aware but not solution-aware. You know you have a problem, even if you don’t know what the solution is.

Most people would say one of these answers: take a pill for pain, have an injection, go to physical therapy, see a chiropractor, or have surgery. That is called being solution aware. You know what the problem is, and now you think you have a solution.

What if there is a solution that you don’t know about? What if this option addresses the source of the pain, rather than the symptom? What if this solution is drug-free, noninvasive, and requires no participation on your part other than to show up for your appointment?

Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, this solution exists. It is called Robotic Precision Therapy, and it is available in Southwest Florida exclusively through Naples Robotic Pain Relief.

Robotic Precision Therapy

What is it, and does it work? Like most new things we encounter, we are naturally skeptical. Some clients call Robotic Precision Therapy a massage on steroids. The process utilizes an FDA-approved Class 2 medical device. What is most important is that this technology delivers amazing results based on the science of applying rhythmic pressure, vibration, and heat directly to the affected muscle.

This process not only releases a contracted muscle, but it can also lengthen the muscle fibers back to their original state. The secret is precise pressure, precise placement of the device in the muscle, and precise duration of time. This combination, along with the vibration and heat, creates the ideal treatment for eliminating or significantly relieving your pain.

All muscles connect to a bone, tendon, joint, or the spine. Tight large muscles can affect the nerves, the spine, and the joints of the body. The benefit of this process is that by releasing and lengthening the muscle, pressure and tension are relieved from the affected joint, bone, spine, or nerve that is impinged. When this happens, joint dysfunction is alleviated, the joint moves properly, the compression is taken off the spine, and smaller muscles are allowed to function properly.

With over 640 muscles in the body, this system is an often-overlooked area of the body. Unfortunately, doctors don’t specialize in muscles. Chiropractors adjust the skeletal structure but not the muscles. Physical therapists and massage

therapists can release the small muscles, but not the large muscles, which can cause the problem. Robotic Therapy is revolutionary, precisely targeting the source of the problem, the large muscles, and releasing them, taking pressure off the bone structure and allowing the small muscles (often the source of the pain) to relax.

There has never been enough emphasis placed on the role large muscles of the body play in the proper daily movement of our lives. This therapy corrects imbalances, making any future therapies more effective.

Let’s talk surgery. Some clients don’t need surgery after they see us. Maybe you know for sure that you need surgery. Releasing the large muscles before surgery can create better outcomes. Correcting muscle imbalances can even lead to pain relief while you wait for surgery. Robotic Muscle Therapy can also facilitate faster and more complete recovery after surgery, resulting in reduced pain, improved range of motion, and better overall outcomes.

The remaining questions are, does it hurt, and does it involve being sold an expensive package? The answers are no and no. We keep you comfortable while gently increasing the pressure as the muscle releases. The answer to packages is also no. Our goal is to identify the root cause of the problem and correct it. We expect this treatment to provide long-term relief. The number of visits required depends on individual circumstances. But the goal remains focusing on the removal of pain in as few visits as required. Most clients see relief in three to six sessions. Some experience some relief after the first session or two.

Whether it’s sciatica, hip pain, shoulder issues, back pain, neck pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, or tennis elbow, this technology is providing lasting relief to hundreds of residents in Southwest Florida. Don’t wait to try this revolutionary therapy; it may be the solution you’ve been looking for.

We offer a complimentary consultation so clients can learn more about this revolutionary technology. We learn about your condition, and you discover whether this therapy can help you. You truly have nothing to lose— except your pain. Theresa Edmunds is a Certified Health Coach and co-owner of Naples Robotic Pain Relief. She is passionate about helping people feel better. Beyond Aromatherapy: The AromaTouch® Technique

The benefits of aromatherapy and essential oils have been known for ages. New science continues to validate the powerful effects of pure essential oils (many of which are food-grade), and studies continue to explore the numerous benefits of using essential oils topically. When you use the appropriate amounts of pure essential oils, they can be used safely at home.

In fact, because essential oils complement our human biology so well, it is a very practical application to help improve homeostasis in the body. As a result, we can achieve more with less using essential oils because their chemistry aligns with our internal systems. Synthetics don’t have this advantage, and when the body gets used to them, we need more and more.

What Is the AromaTouch Technique?

As we experience another cultural wave of innovation and adoption of natural solutions, a technique developed fifteen years ago is experiencing a resurgence. The AromaTouch Technique combines two of the most powerful senses to create a simple way to provide those you care for with an individualized essential oil experience. Multiple touch points take advantage of essential oil chemistry and have an impact on multiple body systems.

The AromaTouch Technique employs eight distinct doTERRA essential oils and blends, which are applied in layers to the body. This method is designed to provide beneficial effects and a harmonious aromatic experience. The specific oils used include doTERRA Balance blend, lavender, tea tree, doTERRA On Guard blend, AromaTouch blend, Deep Blue blend, wild orange, and peppermint.

A key element of this technique is the “aroma” itself, due to the direct link between the olfactory system and the brain’s limbic system, which is associated with memory and emotions. By activating the sense of smell with these essential oils, the technique can evoke strong responses, trigger specific memories, enhance personal connections, and cultivate a deeply relaxing environment.

This profound effect is attributed to the olfactory bulb’s direct input to the amygdala, coupled with the human body’s extensive network of over one thousand smell receptors. This makes the olfactory system a subtle yet highly effective pathway for inducing specific responses and promoting overall well-being.

The Eight Essentials of the Technique

1. doTERRA Balance blend:

•Black spruce: Historically revered in Native American wellness and spiritual practices— lends a calming aroma with its bornyl acetate content.

•Ho leaf: Adds a layer of tranquility, enhancing the essential oil blend’s ability to create a calming atmosphere.

•Frankincense: Known for its skin-soothing properties and contribution to a restful, meditative environment.

•Blue tansy and blue chamomile: Both of these oils calm and soothe the skin, reducing the appearance of blemishes.

2. Lavender: One answer is linalool, a molecule with many scientifically researched benefits. Not only is the powerful constituent potentially soothing, but it also has cleansing properties.

3. Tea Tree: Tea tree oil has many uses for skin care and in supporting various body systems. Recent studies suggest that it also impacts various processes and functions in human cells, including tissue remodeling and metabolism.

4. doTERRA On Guard blend: This essential oil blend includes oils from Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary. It may help protect against environmental threats and support healthy immune function.

5. doTERRA AromaTouch blend: This blend, which includes cypress, basil, and marjoram, was specifically designed for topical application and may help improve circulation. Muscle tension can restrict blood flow and cause nerve irritation and inflammation.

6. doTERRA Deep Blue blend: This blend includes powerful essential oils such as wintergreen, camphor, and peppermint. The Camphor in this essential oil blend is paired with floral and tree oils and was designed to help reduce inflammation.

7. & 8. Wild Orange and Peppermint: These two essential oils have invigorating properties and close out the technique, leaving you with a refreshing awareness of this unique essential oil experience.

All the essential oils needed to perform the AromaTouch Technique are available in a convenient training kit or can be purchased individually. One advantage of purchasing the training kit is that it also gives you access to the official AromaTouch Technique online course, taught by its creator, Dr. Hill. If you’re ready to master the AromaTouch Technique, this kit is perfect for you!

There has never been a more crucial time to take advantage of the change to use a tool like this. The U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, released an advisory titled “Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation,” which highlights that a lack of social connection poses significant risks to both individual and societal health. AromaTouch is an incredible practice that harnesses human touch to create a powerful essential oil experience you can share with others.

AromaTouch kits and in-person workshops are available in Southwest Florida at I Love Oils, Inc. in Fort Myers. The company is owned and managed by Peter and Susie Bagwell, who are both doTERRA AromaTouch Advocates and Training Ambassadors. Their in-person classes and demonstrations are ideal for individuals who want to enhance their AromaTouch Technique experiences at home or refine their skills as massage therapists or wellness professionals.

Measuring Your Microvascular System Is Crucial for Your Health

In past articles, I introduced a revolutionary new medical device called GlycoCheck that was recently released to healthcare practitioners after 15 years in research hospitals and universities (research with the GlycoCheck is ongoing). This technology measures and analyzes the function of your entire microvascular system, so you can monitor the health of the endothelial glycocalyx lining inside your microvessels. In this article, I want to dig a little deeper into the information we can garner from the results, so you can gain a better understanding of why you should get this scan.

But, first, let's answer an important question…

What Is the Glycocalyx?

The glycocalyx is the lining of all our blood vessels, made up of a micro-thin gel. It is the largest organ in the body, protecting the inside walls of our entire circulatory system. If the glycocalyx is compromised and the vessel wall is exposed, this can lead to calcification, plaque buildup, reduced nitric oxide, and proteins leaking.

Early warning signs of declining health due to a damaged glycocalyx are fatigue, cold hands and feet, thinning hair, memory loss, diabetes, high blood pressure, neuropathy, lack of focus, and slow wound healing. Scientific research tells us that endothelial glycocalyx dysfunction can progress to several diseases/conditions, such as kidney disease, cancer metastasis, dementia, and long-haul COVID-19 complications.

The Role and Health of the Glycocalyx

Many researchers consider the endothelial glycocalyx as a first line of defense against vascular diseases. You cannot have healthy vascular walls without a healthy glycocalyx—when the glycocalyx lining is breached, it can leave the endothelium vulnerable to the formation of atherosclerotic plaque, initiating the inflammatory response that leads to plaque formation.

Other functions of the glycocalyx include the regulation of vascular permeability, fluid balance, and the synthesis of nitric oxide in response to the blood flow. The surface of the glycocalyx helps maintain endothelial function, including arterial elasticity and healthy blood pressure.

How Does GlycoCheck Work, and What Does It Measure?

GlycoCheck is a noninvasive, under-the-tongue test that shows the live movement of your red blood cells. This device produces a single Microvascular Health Score that reveals the health of the glycocalyx by measuring several critical parameters of the microvascular system:

• Capillary Density: Gives the capacity of your capillary network to get nutrients to organs and tissue cells. Higher numbers are better.

• Capillary Blood Volume (CBV) Recruitment Capacity: Shows the additional number of functional capillary blood vessels that can be engaged when flow increases. Higher is better.

• CBV Dynamic: When all available capillary blood vessels are engaged at high blood flow levels this tells the maximum functional capacity of the capillary network. Higher is better.

• Perfused Boundary Region (PBR) Flow Corrected: Indicates the level of damage to the endothelial glycocalyx. A lower number indicates a healthier glycocalyx.

• Microvascular Health Score (MVHS): This is your overall score based on capillary density, recruitment capacity, and glycocalyx health. A higher score means better microvascular health.

Lower Microvascular Health Scores are linked to:

• Diabetes

• Hypertension

• Heart disease

• Kidney disease

• Stroke

• Dementia

• Septic shock

• Inflammatory disorders

• Cancer metastasis

• Long-haul COVID-19 complications

Why Should You Have a GlycoCheck Scan of Your Microvascular System?

There are many reasons to have a GlycoCheck scan, but I believe these are the most important:

•Knowing the health of your glycocalyx. Recent research indicates that impaired glycocalyx health contributes to loss of microvascular function in conditions and diseases such as diabetes, dementia, cancer metastasis, heart disease, and more.

•Understanding your true vascular health. You may look and even feel healthy on the outside, but inside your microvascular system, a completely different situation could be developing.

•Obtaining valuable information you can give your doctor that will be an asset for your overall care.

• Taking action to repair and protect your microcirculation and change the health of your microvascular system therefore your health.

•Protecting yourself from premature health decline.

•Have peace of mind.

Can You Can Restore, Regenerate, and Protect Your Glycocalyx?

Yes! No matter what your microvascular health score is, you can still improve the health of your vascular system! Clinically proven to repair the damage in your arteries, veins, and microcapillaries is a patented product called Endocalyx Pro. Endocalyx Pro is made up of seven synergistic ingredients from three classes of compounds:

polysaccharides (helps restore), amino sugars (helps regenerate), and antioxidants (helps protect). You can restore the health of your endothelial glycocalyx and capillary function with Endocalyx Pro and monitor your progress with GlycoCheck. As the health of your glycocalyx improves, so improves your other health data that makes up your Microvascular Health Score. Without a doubt, lifestyle choices are just as important. Support the health of your glycocalyx by having a healthy lifestyle, reducing stress, exercising regularly, and eating an anti-inflammatory, Mediterranean-style diet.

If you’re looking to enhance your quality of health/longevity or gain insight into your true cardiovascular potential and risk, then GlycoCheck is the answer. This is valuable information for your Physician to have also. It just might be life-changing information or a wakeup call for better health. GlycoCheck is a very interesting experience to have! See the live movement of your red blood cells as they move through your microcapillaries. The scan is noninvasive and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

For practitioners, the GlycoCheck is not only an objective tool to monitor changes in your patient’s endothelial glycocalyx—it also allows you to monitor the impact of your treatments, and the results are an asset for your overall plan of care for your patient.

It’s not too late to slow or even reverse the breakdown of your glycocalyx. GlycoCheck provides objective data and the solution to a healthy microvascular system that ultimately enhances whole-body health.

CBD for Seniors: A Gateway to Wellness

“Inflammation and oxidative stress are believed to contribute to the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. By reducing these factors, CBD could potentially slow cognitive decline. Furthermore, its calming effects may help manage symptoms like agitation or anxiety, which are common in conditions like Alzheimer’s.”

As we age, it’s natural for our bodies to encounter new challenges—whether it’s managing chronic conditions, staying active, or simply maintaining mental well-being. For seniors, the search for effective, natural solutions often leads to the discovery of CBD (cannabidiol). This nonpsychoactive compound, derived from the hemp plant, has become a popular alternative for supporting overall wellness. By interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), CBD offers a range of potential benefits that make it particularly relevant for seniors. Let’s explore how CBD may enhance the quality of life for older adults.

1. Pain Management: A Natural Ally Against Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is one of the most common health issues among seniors, often stemming from conditions like arthritis, joint pain, or inflammation. Traditional pain relief methods, including opioids or over-the-counter medications, can carry significant side effects and risks of dependency. CBD offers a gentler alternative. CBD interacts with CB2 receptors in the ECS, which are closely linked to inflammation and immune response. Studies suggest that CBD may reduce inflammation and help manage pain by enhancing the body’s natural endocannabinoids. Seniors experiencing discomfort in their joints or muscles may find CBD creams or oils particularly helpful for localized relief, while tinctures or capsules offer whole-body support.

2. Improved Sleep Patterns: Restoring Restfulness

A restful night’s sleep can become elusive with age. Insomnia, nighttime disruptions, or simply poor sleep quality are frequent complaints among

seniors. Sleep disturbances can lead to a cascade of negative effects, including mood disorders, fatigue, and a weakened immune system.

CBD’s ability to promote relaxation makes it a promising option for sleep support. By influencing serotonin receptors, CBD helps regulate mood and stress levels, which are often contributors to insomnia. Additionally, its calming effects on the nervous system can reduce tension, making it easier to drift into restorative sleep. For seniors seeking a natural sleep aid, CBD offers a nonhabit-forming alternative to traditional sleep medications.

3. Mood Stabilization: Easing Anxiety and Depression

Mental health is an often-overlooked aspect of aging. Many seniors face challenges such as loneliness, anxiety, or depression due to changing life circumstances. CBD has shown potential as a mood stabilizer, thanks to its interaction with serotonin receptors in the brain.

CBD may help seniors manage symptoms of anxiety by promoting a sense of calm and balance. It has also been studied for its potential antidepressant-like effects, helping to uplift mood and restore a sense of well-being. Unlike some prescription medications for mental health, CBD offers these benefits without the risk of sedation or severe side effects.

4. Neuroprotection: A Shield Against Cognitive Decline

Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s pose significant challenges for seniors and their families. While CBD is not a cure, preliminary research suggests it may play a role in protecting brain health.

CBD’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties are particularly relevant here. Inflammation and oxidative stress are believed to contribute to the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. By reducing these factors, CBD could potentially slow cognitive decline. Furthermore, its calming effects may help manage symptoms like agitation or anxiety, which are common in conditions like Alzheimer’s.

5. Bone Health and Mobility: Supporting Active Aging

Maintaining mobility and bone health is crucial for seniors who aim to remain active and independent. Osteoporosis, a condition characterized by weakened bones, becomes more prevalent with age, increasing the risk of fractures and injuries.

Some studies suggest that CBD may support bone health by influencing bone density and stimulating the healing process after fractures. While research is still in early stages, the potential for CBD to promote skeletal strength adds another layer to its appeal for seniors.

6. General Wellness: A Holistic Approach

Beyond addressing specific health concerns, CBD offers general wellness benefits that can support seniors in leading a balanced life. Its ability to promote homeostasis (balance within the body) through the ECS makes it a versatile tool for overall health.

Many seniors turn to CBD to enhance their day-to-day well-being. Whether it’s boosting energy, supporting immune health, or simply fostering a greater sense of calm, CBD can complement a holistic approach to aging gracefully.

Exploring CBD with Confidence

For seniors seeking a natural and non-invasive way to support their health, CBD represents a promising option. From pain management to mental wellness, this plant-based remedy offers a pathway to improved quality of life in the golden years.

Ira Ratner is a serial entrepreneur, cannabis expert, and founder of Franklin Wellness Partners, which offers a line of high-grade female-orientated CBD topical products designed to enhance sexual pleasure and offset both menstrual and menopause discomfort.
