EXCITINGUPDATES

GET INVOLVED IN NASSAU BAY BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES!

Nassau Bay is expanding opportunities for community involvement with an updated appointment process for its Boards, Commissions, and Committees! These volunteer groups play a vital role in shaping policies, providing expertise, and supporting City Council’s vision for a thriving, forward-thinking community

As a home rule municipality, Nassau Bay follows a Council-Manager form of government, where the City Council, composed of six members and a Mayor, sets policies and evaluates city services. The City Manager and staff ensure these policies are implemented and oversee daily operations.

Boards, Commissions, and Committees serve as an essential bridge between residents and city leadership, allowing citizens to provide input, offer guidance, and actively contribute to Nassau Bay’s progress

A NEW, STREAMLINED APPOINTMENT PROCESS

To make participation more accessible and structured, all Board, Commission, and Committee appointments will now follow a standardized schedule Terms will begin on August 1st and expire every July, with two-year staggered terms appointments made in even-numbered years will expire in even years, while those made in odd- numbered years will expire in odd years

Each April, the City will publicly announce available positions, inviting interested residents to apply and get involved Current members seeking reappointment must submit their applications by the end of May in the year their term expires to confirm their interest in continuing to serve.

While applications are accepted year-round, the City Council will begin the review process each June. Applications will remain on file from May to May, ensuring ongoing opportunities for residents who wish to serve If you have already applied for reappointment this year, your application is on file

NOW IS THE TIME TO GET INVOLVED!

Applications are now open! Whether you’re passionate about parks, economic development, community engagement, special events, or city planning, there’s a place for you to make an impact. Nassau Bay thrives when its residents take an active role, and this new process ensures transparency, accessibility, and inclusivity in civic participation
