Join us on Straight Wharf to watch Santa arrive via the Coast Guard cutter! Enjoy Santa’s parade as it travels up Main Street, across Centre Street, and down Broad Street to the Whaling Museum.

Visit Santa at Nantucket Historical Association's Discovery Room. Meet, greet and take photos with jolly Saint Nick, accompanied by his faithful sidekick, Neil the Elf! Please be patient and give Santa and his elf some room to work!

On display December 2-31. The Festival of Trees is a holiday tradition that transforms the Whaling Museum into a festive winter wonderland for the entire month of December! This event features community-crafted trees designed by local merchants, nonprofit organi zations, artists, and children. FALL STORY HOUR

Enjoy your afternoon with this program specially-de signed for the young explorer in your family! During each session, an MMA educator will read a nature or science related book, introduce you to one of the MMA’s animal friends, and we will finish up by making a craft or playing games related to the story. For the safety of our animals, we will not allow anyone to touch them. This is a reoccurring program, but the specific focus and materials provided will change each week. This program is appropriate for children ages 3 and up.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants must register. Maria Mitchell Association Natural Science Museum Courtyard, 7 Milk Street. $10 Members/$15 Non-Members.

DREAMLAND STROLL PARTY, WITH MUSIC FROM "THE HESS TWINS"

Join us for the second annual Dreamland Stroll Party on the second floor of The Dreamland Friday, Decem ber 2nd from 7:00-10:00 PM. The well-known DJ duo the Hess Twins will be performing your favorite top 40, classic, and holiday hits to dance the night away to! Dress in your finest Stroll garb and we’ll have a contest for the best dressed with the winner taking home four tickets to our Daffodil weekend party! We’ll have a Step-and-Repeat for photos, our mirror photobooth, along with a cash bar and some lite bites as well. The Dance Party will take place in the Studio Theater with awesome lighting and decorations. Food and areas to relax will be available in the Harborview Gallery and deck! This 80 minute, 3/4 mile evening stroll to 5 of our most famous haunted locations is the most popular walking tour ever on Nantucket and is led by the original guide.

SCROOGE, THE MAGICAL HOLIDAY MUSICAL

A cast of 24 brings this magical holiday musical to life on our stage. Scrooge is based on Charles Dickens’ classic. A Christmas Carol, Scrooge tells the tale of old miser Ebeneezer on the night he’s visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come. The story, adapted by Leslie Bricusses was first used for the 1970 film musical Scrooge. The stage adaptation opened in London in 1992. This lively, fast paced retelling of the classic tale of family, friendship and second chances is a holiday experience you won't want to miss! Featuring Gabe Beyleu as Scrooge. Audiences will remember Gabe from his role as Miss. Trunchbull in TWN's 2019 production of Matilda. A NANTUCKET CHRISTMAS CAROL

Let the holiday spirits light your way. A Nantucket Christmas Carols’ half-price ticket program is support ed by the ReMain Nantucket Fund. The spirit of the island meets the spirits of the holidays! The whale oil trade has made Ebenezer Scrooge a wealthy man, but islanders know him better for his hard heart and miserly ways. The apparition of his partner, Jacob Marley, and the three spirits of Christmas visit to remind him that “mankind is his business.” This clever weaving of the beloved tale with Nantucket history creates a wholly original experience for the whole family. A Nantucket Christmas Carol is moving to a biennial schedule, so this is your last chance to see this island tradition until 2024!

–10AM NANTUCKET BIRD WALK WITH GINGER ANDREWS

Join the MMA’s Field Ornithologist, Ginger Andrews, for a an educational birding field trip. You will learn about bird families, habitats, how to use field guides, common local bird species, tips for seeing birds, and how to adjust your binoculars for best vision. We will include both field and indoor study, using the collec tions in the Research Center on cold or rainy days. Field trips will explore various habitats around town and beyond, depending on availability of participants’ transportation.

A vehicle is highly suggested. Binoculars are available for loan while supplies last. Pre-registration is required. Please dress for the weather. At least one adult must sign up with children. Hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages from the Knights of Columbus at our outdoor grill. Chowder, veggie & beef chili served downstairs in our Parish Center (access from Cambridge Street). Coffee and donuts & pastries will also be served. Also shop downstairs in our Parish Center for jewelry, holiday items, gift items, baked goods, jams, jellies, cookies and more. Let the holiday spirits light your way. A Nantucket Christmas Carols’ half-price ticket program is support ed by the ReMain Nantucket Fund. The spirit of the island meets the spirits of the holidays! The whale oil trade has made Ebenezer Scrooge a wealthy man, but islanders know him better for his hard heart and miserly ways. The apparition of his partner, Jacob Marley, and the three spirits of Christmas visit to remind him that “mankind is his business.” This clever weaving of the beloved tale with Nantucket history creates a wholly original experience for the whole family. A Nantucket Christmas Carol is moving to a biennial schedule, so this is your last chance to see this island tradition until 2024!

On display December 2-31. The Festival of Trees is a holiday tradition that transforms the Whaling Museum into a festive winter wonderland for the entire month of December! This event features community-crafted trees designed by local merchants, nonprofit organi zations, artists, and children. Learn about the unique adaptations of turtles, frogs, snakes, and more at the MMA Natural Science Muse um! Pre-registration recommended. At least one adult must sign up with children. This program is designed to be interesting for adults and children ages 4 and up.

Enjoy your afternoon with this program specially-de signed for the young explorer in your family! During each session, an MMA educator will read a nature or science related book, introduce you to one of the MMA’s animal friends, and we will finish up by making a craft or playing games related to the story. For the safety of our animals, we will not allow anyone to touch them. This is a reoccurring program, but the specific focus and materials provided will change each week. This program is appropriate for children ages 3 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants must register.

As partners in music and in life they play an eclectic mix of musical styles from Broadway to bluegrass along with originals. They draw from an extensive playlist and years of performing together to bring audiences a diverse and unique musical experi ence.
