Photography Alphabet – A Modern Day Trend Have you ever seen portraits of everyday objects that somehow resemble one of the letters of the alphabet? This is little something is called alphabet photography and has been around for nearly a decade and a half. Its roots can be traced all the way back to 1999 when a man named Stephen T. Johnson put together a children’s book that had nothing, but pictures in it. The photos were those of common objects that resembled the letters of the alphabet. Photography alphabet as a trend didn’t really start to pick up until a woman named Jennifer Blakely decided to expand on the idea and make it into an art form. Blakely, a Canadian native, loved to travel a lot and she took several photos of various objects during her adventures. She carefully studied each object she took a photo of because she wanted to make sure that each of them had a resemblance to one of the letters of the alphabet. For instance, a bridge when viewed from afar would look a lot like the letter “T”, while a person’s arm resting on a bench would look like the letter “G”. They were very awesome to look at to say the least, but as lovely as they were they had not yet started to become that popular. However, celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest praised alphabet photography. These two mega stars endorsed this art form because of its unique creativity and how the photos could add more value to homes by being used as decorations. Once it started to get more mainstream exposure, other photographers would soon follow in Blakely’s footsteps and soon enough, alphabet photography had taken over the world by storm. One of the things that have made this art form extremely popular is its very simplistic appeal. People who love to decorate their home’s interior will absolutely adore alphabet photography. You will be able to spell out your names or a famous phrase, and then have them placed on your wall. This is something that will be sure to catch your guest’s attention.
