A Look at Alphabet Photography’s History Alphabet photography is an interesting concept and surprisingly enough it is something that all started with an illustrated children’s book way back in 1999. The person responsible for this is a man named Stephen Johnson. He basically started the whole thing by putting together a bunch of still life photos of ordinary everyday objects. The objects in the photos all looked like letters of the alphabet. The whole concept sounds simple enough on paper, but imagines how much effort and thought was put into trying to locate objects that resemble the 26 letters of the alphabet. A Canadian woman named Jennifer Blakely became inspired by this idea and then decided to photograph several objects during her travels all over the world. Bridges were the letter “T’”, the tracks on railways were the letter “E”, and a person’s arm resting on a park bench became the letter “G”. Jennifer Blakeley’s efforts would soon bear plenty of results because she was able to make alphabet photography into a household photography. It became so popular that even some of the most famous celebrities in Hollywood soon started to see it as a home décor craze. A couple of celebrities who are huge fans of decorating their home spaces with alphabet photography are Oprah Winfrey and Ryan Seacrest. One thing that makes this form of photography so popular among people is its simplicity and personalization. If you have a bit of vanity in you, you can even get some photos that will spell out your name - the bigger the letters that you, the better the decoration will be. Having decorative pieces of art that spell out your name or that of a loved one can really appeal to the egos of several people. Another thing that makes this art form is standout is its variability. There are a ton of special occasions that will go well with letter art. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a birthday, a wedding, anniversary, or just a gift that is out of the blue because letter art will always be able to fit in no matter what.
