DRC residents will soon have water and electricity The story of sharing four taps and walking long distances to fetch water will soon be a story of the past for the legal plot owners of DRC informal settlement in Swakopmund after the council have decided to bring services closer to the people of DRC who are legal plot owners. According to the Marketing and Communications Officer of the Swakopmund Municipality, Mrs. Ailie Gebhardt, it is Council's priority to formalise the DRC and bring services to the community and the main aim of the project is to bring water to the homes of the residents of DRC. When asked why the council is only bringing water to the residents of DRC now, Gebhardt said there were no funds for the project back then and now funds are available for this new development and “ it is Council's intention to provide each and every house-hold with full municipal services, but this will happen in time and as soon as more funds become available”. HAN calls on the public to stand up and fight rising crime The Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) is seriously concerned that the rising crime wave especially at the coast is crushing the tourism growth. HAN issued this statement after an armed robbery took place at a guest house in Kramersdorf a week ago (namib times reported). In the meantime, two similar incidents occurred. Louis Hurter How should we stand up and fight, they have more rights than we do, you cannot cause harm to an intruder or you go to jail yourself, and they are almost always armed and they do not care to kill the owners of a house, so please tell us, how do we fight a loosing battle???????? Solly Kaplan Give us the right to shoot a robber or a rapist

Paparazzi’s fire caused big damage The fire that broke out at Paparazzi's Gambling house on Tuesday morning caused big damage to the inside of the building to an approximate value of N$2 million. The fire department concluded their investigation and ruled out foul play, as the fire is believed to have started due to an electrical short circuit. The fire started in a store room, and the heat and smoke that spread to the rest of the building caused TV's, refrigerators and slot machines all to melt.
