Another Shack Fire in Walvis Bay The Acting Chief of the Walvis Bay Fire Brigade, Dennis Basson, has confirmed to namib times that only one shack/tuck shop was destroyed in a fire in Kilimandjaro str in Kuisebmond yesterday afternoon. There were no injuries. He also confirmed that the number of shacks destroyed on 18 August was indeed not 16, but it has been updated yesterday to a number of 26. Almost 100 people were left destitute when the fire destroyed those 26 shacks and also damaged one house in Kwilimba Street, Namport, around 3:30 Tuesday morning. Nobody was injured. Toni Timo Lange My holy macarrow, its realy time that government opens up the desert for urban development really....... Its becoming a problem now, and shacks should be illegal becaz the owners of that erfs gets + - 950 rent a month per shack add that up if u got about 5 to 7 shcks on
ur erf, that amounts up well enough to pay off his or her bank loan, the goverment could give small plots to families and let them pay that amounts off towards there own little plots..... Paa Asser Dengox O, God help people to have their own plots.

Frankie makes history again
Former Namibian track and field athlete Frank Fredericks has been selected to serve as a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) for four years. Fredericks, the only Namibian to have won four silver medals in the 100 metres and 200 metres at the Olympic Games (two in 1992 and two in 1996), made history again by becoming the first Namibian to be elected in the IAAF individual council members’ team. Edgar Jst Edgar It beats me that people in Namibia think they can run athletics better than this man. He has both the international connections and pedigree to be given carte blanche on athletics. Walther Dorn-Schnirring As a athlete he was good, but done nothing for Namibian athletics. Denise Van Bergen "Bakhand" mentality, Walther Dorn-Schnirring! Theodore Stanley He did his part. The rest is for other interest holders to do their’s. Walther Dorn-Schnirring Fact Denise... Justus Tetu Sinimbo His part was too inspire, and he did pretty it well. I would be a snail on the tracks but I love Frankie Chris Liebenberg He did more than enough. Maybe your not a athlete Walther Dorn-Schnirring. Walther Dorn-Schnirring If he had done anything near enought ChrisLiebenberg, Namibia would have had some upcoming future track stars. Name me one? I was a Namibian sprinter and raced against him, I have a lot off respect for him as an athlete.... Mo Na Clearly you are used to being spoon fed. How many athletes have been sent out on scholarship under Frankie›s federation? It was all up to them to develop and be like him. One can only do so much and having you sitting back and talking is not helping anybody. Phillip Shapumba Our people are quick to jump to congurate but in the end no benefits for the nation at all sports in Namibia don’t pay how many sports personalities are renting that have medals filling up the rooms nonses .
