Six arrested for fraud with prepaid electricity meters A massive fraud scheme involving prepaid electricity has been uncovered at Erongo RED. Six members of the public and an electrical contractor of Walvis Bay is expected to be criminally charged in this regard, this week, after police commenced rounding up the suspects yesterday. Frank Schmidt Stuff the fines!!! Get them into court and shame them. Let them be known for the criminals they are! ... Make examples of them... But No, another fine or bribe here and there and the bastards slip away again undetected....!!!!! Coetzee Van Zyl Hulle wil die diens hê, maar nie daarvoor betaal nie. Gebruik sommer jou painter om jou huis te bedraad - kry vir jou! Werner van Zyl The real crime is the rediculous fees we are paying for electricity. If it wasn't that expensive fewer people will try to beat the system.

Harrold Page The people living in Lagoon surely can afford to pay for their electricity used. Werner van Zyl Not really my point. Whether a hand full of individuals can 'afford' to pay electricity bills does not justify the rates being so high. Also, they did not state where in the lagoon area. The "lagoon" area is quite big and includes more than just the row of houses built on the lagoon front. A lot of the houses in the "lagoon" area cost the same as the rest of town so living in the lagoon area doesn't nescessarily mean that you can "afford" the bills...

Walter Schafer Gaddafi had the death sentence....... thus there was no crime and the goverment could afford free electrisity. Tey it here and we might also get free .... Marichen Uxam Nuwuses Crime does not pay, it just put shame on you, brakes you down and looses your job by end up in jail, be aware all fraudsters, you are against the Law, Law will take you where you don't wanna be.... Marichen Uxam Nuwuses Everything done in darkness will always come to light, it backfires. Know that every fraud or a crime you do, will be known soon or later...

Schneider-Waterberg free on bail again Emily Schneider-Waterberg, the well-known former estate agent of Swakopmund who saw her bail cancelled as a result of an outstanding warrant of arrest for failing to attend court appearances on charges of assault and malicious damage to property, has been freed on bail once more. Nieuwoudt Boshoff The rules are quite clear and simple actually. You pay the court a fee, in effect promising to show up for your hearing, and they allow you to walk free until your trial date. When you don't show up for your hearing, your bail is revoked, and you are arrested - why is this 'fair' and applicable to everyone, except this lady who somehow thinks that bail is a 'right' and not a privilege?

Kuiseb River reached Gobabeb at midnight on Sunday Staff at the Gobabeb Research Station confirmed yesterday the Kuiseb River is flowing and reached the station at midnight on Sunday. Yesterday the river was still flowing, with research staff measuring water levels every hour. It is expected the Kuiseb will be reaching Homeb and ultimately Rooibank soon. Whether the level of flow will reach the height of earlier rainy seasons remain to be seen, as it depends on follow-up rains in the catchment area. Manniekie Patrick Kativa I agree with you sir Rose-line Brandt Yep thts how the settlements follow each other. Probably the least trust worthy news source in the world! Marthinus Kooitjie Homeb, Oswater, Natab and then Gobabeb. That's the sequence. Claudia Regueira En kassie se plaas lag Rose-line Brandt And thn Soutriver Klipneus Swart bank Utuseb and lastly Rooibnk than.

MET: Desert Lion XPL-98 died of anthrax The male desert lion known as XPL-98, whose carcass was found earlier in January 2017 in the Ugab River area, died as a result of Anthrax (Bacillus anthracis). The Ministry of Environment and Tourism made this statement yesterday after the discovery of the carcass initially caused a public outcry, mainly on the social media platform facebook. Izak Smit This is absurd. I personally phoned four MET officials to report the freshly deceased carcass and was told they were on leave/ could not respond. We also alerted the Vet a nd researcher. The latter denied Anthrax and " performed an autopsy". As far as we know the researcher is not a qualified Veterinary surgeon ( which we suggested). He even removed the infected head and paws and drove around with it. If we had not "interfered" nothing wouldve happened! This statement comes 5 weeks after the fact. On one hand the minister proposes public involvement for conservation and human wildlife conflict and now condemns it as interference as the MET got embarrassed for not doing its job? We have AGAIN appealed for a effective channel through which we can communicate directly ! Phoning the officials was a waste of time... Nancey Enell Izak who are these people's Boss? Perhaps going over their heads would get a different response ? Izak Smit the minister himself.....we ve exchanged dialogue on his fb page on this.. Nancey Enell I thought so but was not certain. I don't like to assume. Inki Mandt What a joke that we must please discuss further with MET before critizising on fb -WE TRIED THIS A FEW TIMES AND ONLY CRICKETS you hear !!!! Kaz Cobb And isn't it true Inki that they left the carcus, for other wildlife to eat, for a week or two before burning !!! Brigitte Gaschnitz It's sooooo laughable, can't hear this MET lie anymore Inki Mandt Luise but this pic is not xpl 98..... it is Kebbel .... Luise Schindler Hmmm.... !!! Brian Gary Anthrax is an infection by bacteria, Bacillus anthracis, usually transmitted from animals.
