The Golden Juke Box Show in SWAKOPMUND at Desert Tavern – 22 October 2016 Golden Hits from the 1950s and 1960s The well-known Namibian band The Phoniker Orchestra presents a powerful live show, igniting the spirit of the unforgettable Rock n Roll era. So you better get your dancing shoes on! The Phoniker Orchestra will take its audience on a historic musical journey from the beginning of Rock n Roll in 1954 and how it has evolved into Soul and Rock by the end of the 1960s. All songs performed are all-time favourites and number 1 billboard chart hits from each year throughout the two decades start-ing with Bill Haley's 1954 hit “Rock Around the Clock” and ending with Elvis Presley's 1969 number 1 hit “Suspicious Minds.” Additional to the incredible music there are also many stories to tell how the Rock n Roll genre evolved and what certain artists were up to in their famous times. The Golden Juke Box show was premiered in 2008 at the National Theatre in Windhoek and in Swakopmund with over 2,000 enthusiastic guests. After a successful repeat in June earlier this year in Windhoek at the Warehouse Theatre, the band is taking the show to the coast again. Audiences can expect a powerful and entertaining show from the 11-piece strong band, including a 6-piece horn section, the 11 musicians of The Phoniker Orchestra promise a powerful and entertaining show, inviting you to dance and groove along.
