De Duine SS. assembled on Monday, 27 February to host the student exchange program, handover of athletic trophies and the national colours. The events started off with the national and school anthem, followed by a scripture reading and prayer offered by Mr A Van Wyk. Medwin Swartbooi soon after introduced visiting LRC members from different schools namely Duneside High, Duinesig Combined, Kuisebmund Secondary and Tutaleni Secondary. This year De Duine welcomed a new member; Dolphine Elementry School to the program. The exchange program however started back in 2015. It is a platform where learners can exchange ideas and see how other schools operate in terms of academy, sports and cultural activities. Teachers noted it was a successfull event, the following day, De Duine had their chance to visit the other schools. Mr Van Wyk assisted by Mr Gamiseb; sport co-ordinator did the handing over the trophies for best in different age groups, team spirit and winning house. Ashiya Otta and Elrico Januarie were of the fortunate ones to receive Namibian colours on their blazers for their Namibian representation in sports. Veikko Shakapala, headboy of De Duine made the last closing remarks on how difficult life is and we are the ones controlling it by noting during his speech, “Everybody wants to live a perfect life. We all want great results at the end of the year and a satisfying job after our studies. Nobody wants to struggle in life, but that is how life is. You will have difficulties getting anything you desire.
