Langer Heinrich Uranium Mathematics Spring School
Eighty Grade 12 and 10 learners gathered at Namib High School from 15 to 19 August 2016 for the 6th Mathematics Spring School which was once again organised with the financial support of Langer Heinrich Uranium (Pty) Ltd. The Spring School was opened by Ms Bernadette Bock, the Superintendent for Community and Corporate Relations at LHU. She quoted Napoleon who maintained that “Ability is of little account without opportunity and congratulated the learners for making use of this opportunity to hone their knowledge and skills for top performance in the high stakes external examinations in higher, extended and additional level mathematics. She mentioned that over the years, the Erongo region has been a top performer in higher and extended level mathematics and that the LHU Spring School has greatly contributed to this legacy. She encouraged the learners to aim at excellent performance, not only as foundation for their own future, but also to provide an incentive for Langer Heinrich to continue the support of this programme. Ms Bock thanked Mrs Courtney-Clarke for organising the Spring School and commended her and her colleagues, Ms Inken Mohr and Ms Lynette van Rensburg, for facilitating the Spring School.
