These social hero’s come from many walks of life, social backgrounds and economic profiles. What they have in common is the desire to make a difference. The capacity to bless extends beyond getting and looking for a blessing, it’s when we activate “Love thy neighbor as thyself” that’s when we see humanity y at it’s best. And today ordinary people all over the world are doing extraordinary things. This includes teachers, janitors, moms, friends and strangers. Today, make the decision to make a difference in the world . I hope you enjoy this issue. -Althea Ledford Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

At an event last night two like-minded retired senior Navy Officers - one in his late 70's and another in his 50's could not stop speaking when they found out about my upcoming leadership book, The En-

chanted Boardroom: Evolve Into An Unstoppable Intuitive Leader, (Sept. 13th). It was as if a door was unlocked and they could speak freely without being judged.

You see, in the book, I dispel the mystery of merging the practical, tactical and logical with the intuitive, emotional, spiritual and physical sides of ourselves to provide whole leadership. It's about listening to those images, those disembodied words one hears, and those goosebumps and innate knowing and recognizing that they are powerful messages. Instead of running away you run towards them, incorporate and work with the messages that come because they give you needed insights to complement the facts. Both sides are critical to solid decision making. Leaders throughout history refer to working with intuition to lead wholly and completely. Yes, it's time to get this message out and liberate those amazing leaders who already use these tools, and are too scared to admit it, because of the fear of being judged and labeled "not all there. " In fact, they are the ones who are all there ....

so exciting!

I recently read Bill Gate's article called, "Preparing for the Next Epidemic." I got ANGRY and then I got fired up. I couldn't help seeing in my mind's eye, the robot in that old scifi TV show, "Lost in Space" crying out, "Danger!" I started out reading the article with an open mind. I know he’s trying to do good in the world. I know he’s taking action. But Bill Gates is wrong. We don’t have to prepare for the next epidemic. Quite the contrary. Bill Gates wants to spend a lot of money on disease surveillance and databases so that this information can be shared all around the world. My question is: to what end? We'd be chasing the wrong thing. The idea of big data is not a new one. People have been trying to gather a lot of data to build better health profiles and better predictive models around individual patients sothat they can better diagnose and treat disease. Advocates say that the difficulty in medicine and the pharmaceutical industry is the (lack of) understanding in the biology of disease. Really? In my studies in Traditonal Chinese Medicine, we had to study physiology, anatomy, microbilogy, biochemistry and also conventional diagnostics. I alrtopics long ago when I was a pre-med and pre-engineering student back in the mid 1970s. Not much had actually changed eady had a background in Page 26 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

But the course that caught my eye was the biomedical diagnostics course. While diagnostics in Chinese Medicine provides distinct patterms of disease – in other words, each pattern is so different from another, that there is NO overlap and therefore NO confusion - this is not true with western diagnostics. While studying the subject I could not help but observe the number of symptoms and signs that overlapped different diseases. How could they possibly come up with an accurate diagnosis? Medical mistakes are possible right at the beginning of the doctor-patient relationship. If the mistake in the diagnosis is not Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

much more broadly about system failuresabout wrong diagnosis, about medication errors and communication breakdowns." Medical errors by doctors even have their own name.

discovered before the prescription of a drug or a surgery, the mistakes get compounded. Long before I studied Chinese Medicine, I heard horror stories from friends who were misdiagnosed and the drugs prescribed to them did irreverisble damage to their internal organs. One person even became sterile due to the damage done!

Think about that. Prof. Martin Makary and research fellow Michael Daniel, of Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University, say, "People tend to think about an individual doctor's mistake, but we're really talking , Page 27 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Iatrogenesis is the “inadvertent and preventable induction of disease or complications by the medical treatment or procedures of a physician or surgeon.” Some reports say they are the leading cause of death, ahead of heart disease and cancer! Others put it at third, behind heart disease and cancer. It probably depends on the year. “Most of the mistakes in thinking are inadequacies of perception rather than mistakes of logic.” ~ Edward de Bono So they feel that having more data will enable them to diagnose more accurately and also create better targeted drugs. The modern medical paradigm (I would not flatter them to call it healthcare) has tried to simplify very complex systems. That’s their first mistake. They think of human beings as just peices of meat, that you’re a machine that can be fixed. That’s why they mostly stick to a one-size-fits-all drug regimen or surgery. They now think about individualized help, but this is a novel idea for them. By indiivualized they still think in terms of the differentt drugs they can use. If they followed the way Chinese Medicine does things, they would soon find out that SPENDING quaility time with a patient and ASKING good quality probing questions, is most important in understanding Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

what’s going on in an individual’s life. Subjective data is very important in the diagnostic process. Now THAT is a NOVEL idea for them! Let’s look at the Ebola crisis of 2014-15. It was all over the news. On the surface, the press made it sound like everyone in Africa who got it, died. It hit three countries hard: Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. A total of 28,616 Ebola cases were reported, with 11,310 deaths. So less than 50% died. There were survivors and they far outnumberd the ones who died. It never occurred to them to wonder why these people survived or even why most of the population didn’t get infected. There must first be awareness and curiosity. Then work to ask better questions. Here’s a sample of good questions. The whole point is to encourage thinking. Why do some people become susceptible to infection, while others are not?

What makes those people who are not infected, stronger than those who become infected? What makes those people who survive and thrive, stronger than those who ultimately capitulated?

What is the right internal environment for Ebola to thrive in? How did the body get that way? What would you have to do in order to make it inhospitable for Ebola without harming the rest of your body? Answer these qusetions and then compare notes. An accurate diagnosis is based on the questions that a doctor asks you. Unfortunately my guess is that a plumber is better at diagnosiaing a problem than your modern day medical

Page 28 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

making it bigger. By being afraid of the problem, he's making it worse. In business, is this how people approach a problem? Sure, there's proof of that too, but I daresay that most business people would say they are working on solutions.

Solutions

doctor. At least a plumber will give you the time to search for the problem before devising a proper plan of action! “The answers you get depend upon the questions you ask.” ~ Thomas Kuhn - The Structure of Scientific Revolutions We need to deeply analyze a problem. By doing that, then we can do a better job of knowing where to look. They have to stop studying the problem. By studying the problem, Bill Gates is Page 29 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

I know Bill Gates’ focus is vaccines. But that's not prevention. As long as the spirit behind vaccines is fear, it's wrong headed. There's a lot more that can be done: raising people out of their mental state of negativity, fear and poverty would be one. This can be done with education and by example. This is a solution that is needed anywhere and everywhere, wherever there are poor sick people. Raising up the mental state and awareness of what really makes our world habitual thought patterns - would go a long way.

Direct Your Mind

Mankind was endowed a large brain. We were given great mental faculties. Therefore we have imagination. We have creative powers. Everything that was ever created began with an idea. That idea was good or bad. Beneficial or not. But they all came out of someone’s mind. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

That includes yours. In Classical Chinese Medicine and in many of the books I’ve studied, since I started my practice, such A Course in Miracles, Napoleon Hill’s Law of Success (complete and unabridged edition), Think and Grow Rich (original and complete edition), Grow Rich with Peace of Mind (his last and final book), and HunYuan XinFa (The Lost Heart of Medicine) by Yaron Seidman and Teja A. Jaensch, among others, it became quite clear to me where the origin of all disease is. Ancient Chinese Medical doctors long ago gathered the data about the human experience. They observed and recorded the charateristics of a healthy person and they observed what made them unhealthy. They were not only interested in the physcial aspects of a person. They were equally or more interested in the psychological health of a person, how they lived their lives, how they treated others, and themselves too. Page 30 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Chinese philosophy influenced their medicine. My studies after I left school are responsible for the type of doctor I’ve become. The word holistic is too often used and too often misinterpreted even by the people who use it. It distinguishes them from medical doctors. But if these practitioners do not spend at least an equal amount of time trying to help someone through their pyschological angst, then even their remedies won’t have lasting effects. Because in order to heal, there must be selfdiscovery. Whether it is disease or health, it is squarely in your own mind. Not from some tiny little one cell organism. Not from some accident. I do not mean to say, “It’s all in your head,” which today means it’s not real. What you imagine in your own mind, you make real. But you didn’t imagine being hit by a disease or Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

being hit by a truck. No. An infection happens because you felt unsafe. Your confidence levels went way down. You felt confused and unhappy. You had no idea what this would do to you. You think nothing of it and then, something happens to you and you think it’s accidental. Why should mankind be so afraid of single cell organisms when we are far superior beings? We have minds and we have superior mental faculties that germs don't have. They are simply living out their existence doing what they do. What you think about the most is the determinant of your fate. You are responsible for your own destiny. Health. Disease. Good times. Bad times. Success. Guess what? You have control over what you think and what you feel. People have surmounted the worse nightmarish lives. They’ve defied their doctors’ prognosis and found another way to thrive,

Page 31 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

not just survive. Cripples have walked and ran again. Because they didn’t listen to their medical doctors’ diagnoses. Why? Why? Why? When you fret, when you hold unto grudges, when you want reventge, you use up a LOT of energy. You will make yourself sick. And it can happen very fast. If you feel safe and confident, then you will be safe and confident. All dis-ease begins in the mind. The body does as it is told. It is the physical manifestation of what is really in your mind. I've said for a long time that the body does not lie.

People say they're happy, yet they have heart problems. They have not bothered to look deeply into their hearts and face the unhappiness there and then DO something take positive constructive action to change the way they feel. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

This is empowerment. Universal truth. It would be better to teach people how to cope with the inevitable challenges in their lives, so that they can become resilient in body and mind. The soul (and God) waits for us to wake up. If you really want to solve problems either in your life or at work, "Think Different." And you begin by asking the RIGHT questions and going DEEP.

Dr. Jee-Hoon Krska is the the founder, program director and principal instructor of Keys 2 Success, a new program that seeks to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Newark, New Jersey, through music education. As a young pianist growing up in Malaysia, Jee-Hoon gained national recognition with performances before the Sultan and on broadcast radio. After immigrating to the United States with her family at the age of eleven, she continued her piano studies as a scholarship student in the Juilliard pre-college program under the tutelage of Olegna Fuschi. Upon graduating from high school Jee-Hoon studied electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ultimately receiving a Ph.D. Throughout her years at MIT she continued to study piano performance under David Deveau and has maintained an active performance schedule in years since, Page 36 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

including with Yo-Yo Ma and .as a soloist with the Boston Pops at Boston Symphony Hall After earning her doctorate, Dr. Krska spent twenty years working in the semiconductor industry, leading global teams in product development, marketing, and strategy. During the last decade, she has also actively worked to improve the lives of the youth in Pennington Court, a Newark Housing Authority (NHA) public housing community that is home to many of the poorest minority residents in Newark, through involvement in a series of projects aimed at fostering their intellectual development and social skills . It was through this experience that she saw first hand the effects of generational poverty and developed a passion for investing in the lives of youth which ultimately led to her decision in 2016 to work full time with the children of Newark by founding Keys 2 Success. Introduction For legions of disadvantaged children in Newark, New Jersey, the effects of poverty are not confined to material want. They lack access to the broader cultural inheritance and robust network enjoyed by children in more privileged communities. In particular, they lack exposure to classical music training, which serves as an effective vehicle to develop self-discipline, confidence, critical social skills, and to create a robust social network required to thrive in the wider professional world. This program seeks to enrich the lives of such children — and to give them hope — through music education. Long-term, it seeks to improve individual lives and the communities in which those lives are lived. The means to that end will be intense, individualized training in the piano, coupled Page 37 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

with percussion work to strengthen rhythmic skills and ensemble work to enhance collaborative ability and peer learning skills. The goal of the program is not necessarily to produce worldclass musicians, though that may well happen. Rather, the goal is to use music education as a means to personal betterment for children who might otherwise lead lives of not only material but also cultural deprivation. The Program Keys 2 Success is an El Sistema-inspired program, one of some four hundred El Sistema-inspired programs around the world, in more than sixty countries. Initially inspired by Venezuela, El Sistema is now spreading internationally as an effective way to help children whose lives are challenged by poverty, violent conflict or natural disaster. Starting from Kindergarten, Keys 2 Success will seek to instill not only musical proficiency but also the expectation of success through rigorous, high-quality lessons coupled with performance opportunities. All students will participate in small and large group ensemble work, including a weekly two-hour after-school session that will incorporate orchestral percussion instruments. In addition, a sub-set of students will receive daily, fifteen-minute individual lessons Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

Dr. Jee-Hoon Krska ,Founder, Program Director and Principal Instructor of Keys 2 Success, The program will include performance opportunities with students from diverse communities at the local and state level, as well as opportunities to audition for other arts organizations and to participate in national keyboard assessment programs. The program will be implemented in the Ironbound section of Newark. Instructors will provide daily thirty-minute piano lessons for groups of six students. Up to 10% of participating students may also elect to receive the fifteen-minute individual lessons referred to above. These sessions are intended to supplement, not replace, existing music programs in the public schools. Most, if not all, of the students participating in the program will not have pianos at home and will have access to instruments only during lessons, which will, of necessity, function in part as supervise practice time. Through this musical instruction, Keys 2 Success will instill self-confidence and promote social responsibility, improve communication and leadership skills, and convey a sense of connection to the larger world

If we could manage to track down the scammer and lead the authorities to him it would be an amazing result and teamwork.> “It’s like loving the shadow of a person who never existed” Anonymous What will Leonardo's excuse be for not having said the truth about himself on his profile? I promised you to give an answer to this question and a promise is debt. After having received the first email in which I discovered Leonardo Jones was not living in Rome, but in Afghanistan, I wrote to him demanding an explanation. Not all women would have reacted like that, except a few. And I wanted to be one of them. He replied with a long email without giving an answer to my question. However, my priority was to understand why victims continue to pursue the relationship even after discovering that their “Leonardo” lied to them and on top of that, in this particular case, all contacts would forcibly be only virtual for at least a yeareason that I can think r. eading Leonardo's email below, the only Page 42 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

of which is strong enough is that for the victims this is the realization of a dream. The last chance to live a romantic love story as they see only in the movies. Leonardo promised to be the perfect man, the man that many women wish to meet one day, but that only happens to a few. N.B. Within the emails and Skype conversations between me and Leonardo, my comments and assessments will appear in red inside brackets. - Leonardo: “This has to be the first time in my life that I am getting to know someone by letter, Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

I look forward to hearing from you and writing back to you. I have to write, or type, quite a lot for my work but this is so much different, waiting to see what you say and then putting my own thoughts down to send to you. I can feel your sense of humor in everything you shared with me about yourself and I know we have a lot in common.. (Here the victim should understand that there is something amiss, because until now there have been no exchanges that could lead Leonardo to make such a claim.) without even so much as a word between us and having never actually set eyes on each other. Its a weird feeling and I am beginning to think, quite romantic. (Some women after reading words like these, written by a man they don't know, could burst into laughter. They might think it is absurd that a stranger could say to feel something for them without even having met. Let's consider this. Has it ever happened to you to make eye contact with a handsome stranger and to be so affected so as not to be able to take it off your mind for a while? Have you ever wished for a moment that they were also struck by you?) Page 43 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

(Leonardo begins his manipulation to isolate his victim. The first step is to deny her the opportunity to meet other men. In a moment, he'll make his victim understand that, in order to show her commitment in wanting a relationship, multiple factors come into the equation, one of which is to not “date” other people. At this stage, he is subtly insinuating that since he stated he quit the dating site where they met, his victim must not dare to continue to keep a profile.) Anna,I want us to continue this communication and get to know each other better because it always fills my heart with joy each time that I have the opportunity to stay in touch with you. You don't need to be judgmental or cruel, and most important in a relationship; there must be trust and loyalty within the two people involved‌ Now let me share with you some of my likes and dislikes, and what I look at my partner. My likes: I like affection (giving and receiving). I like public affections. I like good communication. I always want to put a smile on my companion's face and make sure she is always happy. I like intimate conversations. I like music and nature. I love singing, even when I'm working. I like shopping with my partner. I like taking slow country drives. I like cooking with my partner. I like self-worth and dignity. I like sense of integrity. I like the simplicity in life, like watching the movie, a candle-light dinner together, adventure, romance, traveling, camping, visiting the beach, sitting by the fire and watching the sunset. I like playing video game with my son when I'm less busy during my off days. I love to laugh a lot even when am in a sad mood, but I get serious when necessary. My dislikes: I dislike being treated like I am not the body when in public with my partner. I dislike people who are unreliable and very lazy. I dislike people who do not believe in themselves.

Page 44 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

I dislike people with infantile form and take it serious as jokes. I dislike negativity. I dislike disrespectful people. I don't like people who cheat or lies. I dislike Gossiping about others all the time. I dislike intolerant. I don't like dwelling on the past all the time. I dislike rudeness My personality; I'm patient, calm and very thoughtful. I have a good sense of humor and I am also easy to laugh. I'm always positive in everything I do and I follow what my hearts direct me to do but I sometimes share my ideas when I feel like sharing. Please, just trust me! Anna, I want you to know that there's a big difference between love and like and I would be happy to know more about you.. We are starting this wonderful relationship as friends, but I hope that's not how it will end so I'd like us to give this friendship a chance to develop into something wonderful but who knows? These emails seems to be getting longer, I hope you don't mind? Perhaps it would be better to sing off now and get on with some of the things I am meant to be doing today....My Skype name is leonardo.jones5 and I could like us to chat on Skype, I believe in getting to know you and communication seems to be the best way.. when I see my little children smiling and they're like angels to me-I don't mind if my partner has male friends. I don't get jealous in my relationship and I don't like interfering in my partner's private affairs, if only she will not abuse it. And I'm ever ready to accept my partner's family and friends if only she will feel comfortable about it. I've just realised how difficult it is to be funny in writing, never thought about it before, in fact never had to try it before. When you say stuff it just comes out but trying to put it all down using lots of written words it doesn't seem to work quite as well. She stares at the picture, reads and re-reads the letter several times and probably says to herself that there must surely be a logical explanation why a man so charming, sensitive and able of that kindness “cannot be a liar.” For this reason, she stays in the relationship. Playing as a common victim, I too have to go ahead and delude myself that I will be able to see and talk with Leonardo in Skype and I look forward with curiousity to our chat.)

Finally, Our Skype Conversation The first disappointment happens fast since there is no sound and no image, only written chat today. According to him, for safety reasons he has no other authorization except for writing in chat. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

Anna: “In don’t understand, are you in Afghanistan?” Leonardo : “Yes, I serve my country. I am a senior officer and in two years I will be retired”. Anna: “I don’t understand, on your profile you stated you live in Rome” Leonardo: “My friend who put me on the site is from Rome and i think he made a mistake with my residence .Excuse my ignorance…” (The fault is not his, but his friend's, and to reassure the victim he apologizes to convince her that he is a good person. It may sound absurd, but many women of all different backgrounds would believe that. Words can achieve more incredible results than action, sometimes. The romance scammers understand and exploit this principle.) Anna: “Tell me more about your friend from Rome. Is he a soldier with you there?” Leonardo : “No he is not in the army with me…” Anna: “And…” Leonardo: “We met on vacation in Paris and we became friends that’s all…” Anna: “But is he not Italian?” Leonardo: “He told me he met his wife and they are together for 10years he met her on the dating site so I should try my lack (sic) so I asked him to put me on there and he did..” Leonardo: “Yes he is.” Anna: “Sorry, but I really don’t understand you. If you are a professional soldier Page 46 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

always in a war country, why are you looking for a woman when you can’t have a regular relationship and a future with her?” Leonardo : “Oh no it's my last mission here and will be coming out of the Military. I have to stay here for almost one year and after I will be retired. I would like to find the woman to spend my future with” (The lies about that being the last mission and the search for the woman with whom to spend the rest of his life seem to be the winning formula to trap many - too many - women in the network of these lowlifes.) Anna: “One year is a long long time, Leonardo” Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

What Now? At this point, I'm fairly lost. I pointed out that a year was too much time and he told me that once he leaves the army he will open an orphanage. It may be that certain statements have not much effect on me. I value deeds more than words and I still have not received an acceptable explanation for his lie. At the same time, I wondered why victims would keep proceeding at this point. The answer is probably very simple: handsome man + good job + soon to be retired + in search of the woman of his life + humble + generous + kind = BINGO! However, for me all these pros are too many when summed up their actual result = WARNING! The Skype conversation happened in the morning and was interrupted on the talk about the orphanage, because he said he had to resume duty. Leonardo: “After I have planned to establish Orphanage home for homeless children, working with the humanitarian thing is something very important to me, with much speculation about my future, i would love to pursue a full time career in charitable work once i leave the Army xx I am not doing this just to promote myself. I'm using my image to promote my foundation, so it is something I want to do long-term. It's not something you do and after three years you stop. It's something very serious. I'm not doing it for fame. Actually it's my main passion. When I leave the Army, it will become my priority number one…” Page 47 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Leonardo's slips don't end with the “oversight” about his being in Afghanistan. For example, at the beginning of our relationship he said he was officially the engineer responsible for the camp vehicles. So, no major dangers involved, surely because he did not want his victim to think that she could risk losing the man of her life in battle, even before marrying him. However, after several emails, when he is persuaded that I cannot go back, he tells me that he often goes on patrol, as if that was the most normal thing in this world. According to him, all soldiers in Afghanistan in addition to their official duties must go on patrol. If he only knew how many times during our chat or when I read his emails I was glad that he Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

could not hear my endless laughter. Reading his words caused strange feelings in me, however. On the one hand, I was laughing at the absurdity that he wrote. On the other, when I thought about the evil that he was doing to women, my only wish was to see him locked up in a cell. So, I decided to put Leonardo in a corner by making him believe that he was losing me, to see how he would handle that. His reaction? More suitable for a Hollywood movie than a real life situation, but he was giving to his victim exactly what she dreamed of: the beautiful and brave hero madly in love with her princess. I admit to not having reacted as a victim would have, but I had to gauge how cunning he would have been when dealing with a more sophisticate target. NB. If you recognize the serviceman in the pictures, he is to be considered a victim of the scam and deserves to be informed. Please, contact me or the publisher of E Female Magazine.

First I will take a step back and familiarize with Google+. It is a social networking service owned and operated by Google Inc. It is the second-largest social networking site in the world after Facebook, having surpassed Twitter in January 2013. The statistics for Google+ are staggering; - 2.2 billion Google Plus profiles online 60% of users log in daily The Google +1 button is used 5 billion times per day

After being on the internet since 1994 and in technology since 1985, I am still learning as fast as I did in those early years and with the addition of social media this has created a maelstrom for the average business owner. They fall out of the sky at the speed of byte - I mean light - from Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and of course Google+ leading the pack. And

after dealing with thousands of clients around the world it became apparent that the majority of them were still avoiding Google+ so I wanted to make sure you understood why it may be hurting your business,

So why does Google+ have so many followers, yet so many businesses are failing to use it properly if at all? The simple answer is two-fold; It’s too technical A lot of people think it’s another Facebook You can tell many people thing it’s too technical because 62% users are male and 38% are female - the first social media platform with a big variance. The thing is it’s not more technical than Facebook, it just hasn’t become a habit. However it’s not as pretty or easy to follow a thread and read your dashboard as Facebook is - so this is more likely the reason.

more than ignoring any other platform.

Page 52 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

A lot of people think it’s another Facebook, but it’s very different, and in most cases far more important for the average use, especially if your target market isn’t sitting on Facebook. In order to understand the significant differences between Google+ and Facebook, I’m going to highlight a couple of features and then tell you the BIG WHY you need to be using Google+.

Two cool things about Google+ 1. Circles - is unique and simple; rather than adding friends into one community base or following list, you can segment your contacts by adding them into what are called circles. You can label your circles as anything you wish, such as business associates, family, associates, etc.. You can also have as many circles without limits. The best thing about your circles is that they are kept private, so that even when you add someone to your circle, they only see that you've added them as a connection, not what circle you added them into making it

Page 53 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

irrelevant to be concerned if you will upset someone for not being part of, say your inner circle.

2. Google Hangouts - which offers live, multi-person video chat between Google+ users. You can set your status as available or offline, and when you’re active, people from within your circles are able to connect with you via video live feed. In fact, you can have as many people within a video channel as you wish – absolutely free! But here’s the BIG WHY you must be doing google+, even before your Facebook, Twitter, or Linkedin. It is the only social media platform that gets indexed on Google. That means it has super, fast, powerful search engine optimized way to get into the google search engines. Nothing you do will ever hit it as fast. It’s Search engine optimization nirvana. This one action alone can change the game for you being found online. Consistent, keyword-based Google+ posts can keep you on page one more than any other SEO organic practice. So I would take a look at your social media strategy, and make sure you integrate Google+ into it.

Part 2 Continued from March 2017

I also want to add one further note of caution. Terrorism is not just caused by poverty or despair. History is full of terrorists and anarchists who came from the aristocracy and enjoyed all the privileges of society. The terrorists of 9/11 were middle class and educated. History teaches us that there are always going to be misfits and extremists who are not willing or able to accept the liberal, tolerant values with which our societies operate but who are nostalgic for a form of totalitarianism. So we will always need a good security organization to identify and deal with these individuals. NATO does not have a role to play in immigration policy or de-radicalization programmes, which are best left to national governments or competent organizations in this area such as the European Union or the United Nations. Page 62 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Everyone has their comparative advantages and strengths and in the case of NATO, its added value is in the exchange of intelligence and information on the terrorist threat and working with partners to build up their capacity to deal with terrorist groups on their territories. The key thing is that we all fit together as part of an overall strategy that is not working at cross purposes but helping to achieve lasting success. Mrs. Lardner: One of the functions undertaken by NATO, along with the United Nations, is nation building to promote democratization. Can you tell me a little bit about what is involved in nation building? Dr. Shea: Nation building is obviously a never-ending process. When do we ever stop trying to perfect our democracies or build better functioning nations? Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

Yet in the sense of NATO missions in the Balkans or Afghanistan, nation building is about putting the basics in place in a way that is self-sustaining and does not require NATO to constantly re-intervene because as soon as it departs, political agreements or institutions collapse. So we call this a selfsustaining piece. What are the elements? In the first place, a security environment, which allows people to make investments and set up businesses in the knowledge that these are not going to be destroyed from one day to the next. Otherwise the economy does not re-start. Another is making sure that the basic institutions of governments are in place, like the executive, the judiciary, a functioning parliament. Page 63 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Another element is disarming local militias so that they can not disrupt the peace process and training the national forces to manage security by themselves. Other things like law to protect religious minorities or media freedoms are also important, as corruption always thrives where there is no free press to hold it in check. None of this means trying to build Switzerland in Afghanistan, which would be an impossible task but to have something which the military often refer to “Afghanistan good enough. That means a country which is able to avoid doing violence to itself or its neighbours and to get along on the basis of a social compact, even if the locals may do Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

things in “the Afghan way” or “the Iraqi way”, according to their local customs and culture, rather than according to a “one size fits all” western model. This is not mission impossible as is sometimes claimed but we have to recognize that progress requires a great deal of perseverance and a good strategy. We live in a world which is focused on short-term results and quick fixes and this does not work in places like Iraq or Afghanistan. Mrs. Lardner: NATO has been involved in this process in Afghanistan since August 2003. How did NATO become involved in Afghanistan? Could you highlight some of NATO’s activities in Afghanistan? Dr. Shea: NATO began its ISAF mission in Afghanistan in 2003, to demonstrate solidaritywith the United States after the 9/11 attacks and in recognition that the Taliban-Al Qaeda regime in Afghanistan at the time was as much a threat to Europeans as to the United States. NATO also decided to assist a UN mission based on German and Dutch troops that was already in theatre but which could benefit from the organization, command and control that an organization like NATO could provide. For the first ten years, NATO’s ISAF mission was focused on providing security throughout the country based on four regional headquarters. NATO also began to train and equip the Afghan Army in order to be able to take over from ISAF and it developed a Cooperation and Partnership programme with Afghanistan to help with longterm, such as the Afghan security concept and reorganization of its Ministry of Defence. Page 64 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

This cooperation programme also included some civilian activities, such as the SilkAfghanistan programme, led by NATO’s Science for Peace and Security programme, which provided internet connectivity to Afghanistan’s many universities. This was a great help in connecting Afghanistan’s younger generation to the outside world. NATO also ran a series of provincial reconstruction teams that provided military support to development agencies working on projects such as agriculture or schools. After 2014, ISAF came to an end and NATO launched a new mission called Resolute Support, where NATO and many of its partner countries work on training the Afghan national army. activities, so that we are aware of what is happening and can make sure that their own efforts to fight terrorism fit into this overall framework. Mrs. Lardner: The North Korean diplomat who recently defected confirmed that North Korea is intent on developing an intercontinental ballistic missile mounted with a nuclear warhead capable of striking California. In that event that such a catastrophe occurred, would NATO come to the United States defense under Article 5?

Mrs. Lardner: There is a global initiative Combatting Violent Extremism – spearheaded by the United States Department of State that encompasses over 100 countries, 20 multilateral bodies, and 400 civil society organizations. Is NATO participating in this program? Dr. Shea: Not as such, as NATO is not the best instrument to combat violent extremism, as I hope I explained in an earlier answer. But representatives from the United States State Department and the United Nations and also the European Union visit NATO regularly to brief NATO’s ambassadors on their Page 65 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Dr. Shea: Certainly, that possibility is there, as the duty of NATO is to protect the United States as much as for the United States to protect its European Allies. This said, the consequences for North Korea to use a nuclear warhead against the United States would be truly catastrophic to North Korea, as has been made clear just last week when the new US Defence Secretary James Mattis, visited South Korea. The United States also has at its disposal all the means necessary to respond to such an attack and the North Korean leadership is undoubtedly fully aware of this, notwithstanding its track record of provocations and irresponsible behaviour. Mrs. Lardner: On January 21st the day after being confirmed Secretary of Defense General James Mattis contacted NATO allies to assure them of continued U.S. involvement. The Executive Order signed January 28th excludes General Mattis, along with the other Joint Chiefs of Staff from the newly formed Principals Committee. At this time NATO membership is subject to auto Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

renewal with any member state able to issue a notice of denunciation which is a one year notice of intent to exit NATO. It is my understanding that it is possible that under Article 13 that Mr. Trump could issue an executive order that would serve as the requisite notice of denunciation without any action by Congress. Has concern been expressed by NATO member nations? NATO also operates by consensus which means that everyone has a vote and prospective veto over decisions. So Dr. Shea: Yes, it is possible to withdraw from NATO after one year’s notice, but no state has ever done so and indeed many European countries are seeking to join NATO, which is certainly a vote of confidence in NATO’s continuing utility. NATO is by far the most successful Alliance in history and has given Europe and North America a period of Page 66 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

peace and prosperity that they have never known before. It is also an Alliance in which everyone benefits, as Allies are responsive to each other’s security concernstheir national interests cannot be ignored. For all these reasons, NATO represents the gold standard in international security and I am tempted to say, as Voltaire did about God, that if it didn’t exist we would have to invent it. So although Allies may have issues with each other from time to time regarding defence budgets and burdensharing, the advantages of staying in the Alliance vis-à-vis the disadvantage of finding oneself alone in an increasingly disorderly and dangerous world, are such that I do not see any Ally leaving the Alliance. Look at France, which was outside NATO’s military command structure for over 40 years but decided to return in 2009. Mrs. Lardner: One of Mr. Trump’s Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

criticisms is that the United States is one of five states that is in compliance with the obligation to commit a minimum of two per cent of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to spending on defence. Just so my readers understand, that 2% is not paid to NATO, it represents what each member nation must invest in its own defence spending? Hasn’t the United States over the last decade consistently invested more than 2% in building up its military capabilities?

It has troops and bases in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, the Middle East and North America. It has security obligations in many other parts of the world in addition to Europe, for instance its alliances with Japan and South Korea or Australia. So clearly the United States, given its global responsibilities, requires a much greater degree of military capability than the Europeans who do not have defence commitments outside NATO, except for some bilateral arrangements of France and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Shea: It is certainly true that the United States has by far the highest level of defence spending among the Allies and spends a higher percentage of its GDP on defence than the greatest majority of the other Allies. But there are historical reasons for this. The United Sates is a super power with global responsibilities.

This said, President Trump has a point when he says that the Allies have to meet the 2% target. This is not new, as the Obama administration was making this point just as forcefully. And it was indeed under the previous administration that the 2% objective was publically agreed as an Allied commitment. It is true that at the moment,

Page 67 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

only four European Allies meet the 2% target but 18 have now come up with plans to move progressively towards this target and have announced many new defence investments and projects. France has halted troop cuts and Germany has just announced a substantial modernization programme, including shortrange air defence. I expect the other Allies also to announce plans to meet the 2% target before NATO holds it first Summit with President Trump in May. So what counts is that we have turned the corner and that Allies, recognizing that the world has become a more dangerous place, are now re -investing in their defence. But don’t forget, NATO’s job is not only to persuade its members to spend more but also to spend wisely and on things that can really benefit NATO. Spending more to waste more is not the answer. So it is important that Europeans in particular get more value for money through cooperating. For instance Europeans currently have four times as many weapons systems as the United States in their inventories and this represents massive duplication. Page 68 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Mrs. Lardner: However, haven’t there been criticism leveled at the United States for not paying the United Nations $3 billion owed for dues and for peacekeeping operations? Dr. Shea: I would hope – and expect - that the United States will pay its dues to the United Nations. The cost of all UN peacekeeping operations is about 8 billion dollars a year for 16 different missions. When you compare this figure to what NATO was spending in one year just on Afghanistan, then this is a very modest sum; and the cost of a UN Peacekeeper is only about 20% of the cost of a NATO solfor political or other reasons would be difficult for the western countries to engage in and I think we dier. We need the UN to do missions which have to recognize that the UN has improved Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

the illegal annexation of Crimea. So far, we do not have any idea where Mr. Trump is headed save he has reserved comment on whether the United States would roll back economic sanctions. How important are economic sanctions in showing unity amongst NATO member nations?

its peacekeeping and learned many difficult lessons from the past. Today, three out of five UN Blue Helmet missions help countries to stabilize so that they do not relapse back into conflict. It is not a perfect record by any means but we the western countries are not necessarily better. And I think that the world would be a much more violent place if we did not have the UN to establish the rules of proper international behaviour and bring war criminals to account. Also, remember that the European Union collectively pays a higher contribution to the United Nations than the United States, although I do take the point that others such as China or Russia or some of the emerging economies do need to pay a fairer contribution. Mrs. Lardner: Russia’s relationship with the West has been less than positive since Page 69 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Dr. Shea: Economic sanctions are important because over time they do change the behaviour of recalcitrant states. Look at Iran or Libya, which agreed to freeze or give up weapons programmes, mainly because international sanctions were applied to them. Russia is also feeling the effect of the sanctions imposed on it following its illegal annexation of Crimea. But sanctions require unity and perseverance, which is why they were successful vis-à-vis Libya and Iran. The alternative to sanctions is either appeasement and giving in, which only stores up more trouble later on, or using military force with all of its unforeseeable consequences. So sanctions are not perfect but are probably the best instrument that we have. But we must be patient and given them time to work. Mrs. Lardner: Why should Americans care about what happened in Crimea and what's happening in Ukraine and Eastern Europe? Dr. Shea: Churchill famously said that the aggressor is never satisfied. Every time he is appeased, he sees this as weakness and simply comes back with more and more exorbitant demands. So if Russia is allowed to violate international law in Ukraine with impunity, it will believe it can act in the same way elsewhere in the world. And in ways that directly threaten US interests. actions against US ships. At the same time, the values that the US represents are those of international law and responsible behaviour in international relations and respect for other states and peoples. It is on this basis rather than naked power that America’s prosperity and interests lie. The US is still very much the global leader for the liberal international system and in a world in which these values are increasingly being challenged by states like Russia, China, Iran, North Korea or others, it is a source of inspiration to millions of people across the global that the United States is still willing and able to uphold these values. Power is after all the ability to inspire and lead others as much as an issue of tanks, missiles and defence budgets. Mrs. Lardner: What threats does Russia pose to the West, such as espionage, cyber warfare, conventional warfare, proxies, nuclear armament and misinformation? Dr. Shea: Regrettably, all of the above. Where Russia is different vis-à-vis the old Soviet Union, is that it now has a much stronger foothold within our western democracies, in terms of media ownership, influence on populist parties, cyber instruments, energy relationships and other business deals. All of this gives Russia a much larger keyboard on which to play and it tends to use all of these instruments and to see in each particular case which one can produce the most confusion and destabilization. Page 70 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

For instance in Ukraine, Russia tried fake humanitarian operations and when these did not work, sent in the “little green men” disguised as local soldiers. This said, the key thing is to expose Russia’s behaviour quickly and effectively by clamping down on fake news and attributing cyber operations. We also need to build a strong military defence because the key thing is preventing Russia from trying to convert a hybrid warfare-type of attack into an actual military attack. We can recover quickly from the first type but unfortunately not so quickly from the second type. Mrs. Lardner: Would you not agree Jamie that the mere existence of NATO is a deterrent to Russian aggressions involving any NATO member nation?during the Kosovo campaign in 1999 that what finally drove the Serb dictator Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

instruments. So unity backed up with a credible defence is even better. Mrs. Lardner: While some call for expanded missile defenses to bolster assurances to NATO partners, others call for pausing the program before a new site is built in Poland as a means to deescalate tensions with Russia. Has General Mattis or his predecessor Ashton Carter indicated whether the U.S. should continue to expand NATO European missile defenses?

Dr. Shea: Yes I would. I remember well Milosevic to the negotiating table was not so much the pressure of NATO’s air campaign (which was quite limited and progressive) but his inability to break up the Alliance. After 78 days, Milosevic realized that NATO was determined to see the mission through and that the more he delayed withdrawing his forces from Kosovo, the worse the final outcome for him would be. So yes, unity is the best deterrent message, so as to leave a potential aggressor in no doubt about NATO’s resolve and not to create the ambiguities or misunderstandings that could lead to fatal miscalculations. But we must also remember Frederick the Great of Prussia who famously said that diplomacy without arms is like music without Page 71 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Dr. Shea: For the time being, NATO’s missile defence goes ahead and we have made it clear on numerous occasions that missile defence is not directed against Russia and does not have the technical capabilities to shoot down Russia’s missiles. It is a system designed to deal with threats from the south and countries like Iran who are continuing to test and modernize their ballistic missiles. So there are no plans at the moment to stop this system before it is complete, so that we are able to ensure the defence of NATO’s territory and populations. But we are talking to Russia in the NATORussia Council and have had many discussions with Russia in the past, so that Russia can understand that this system is not a threat to its own security. It is after all, wholly defensive. Mrs. Lardner: Jamie, compared to the Cold War Era, is NATO busier today? Dr. Shea: Undoubtedly yes. We are conducting many more activities in many more parts of the world and with a network of over 40 partners we never had during the Cold War. But busy is not the main point. Ernest Hemingway famously said that there is a difference Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

between activism and activity. So the key point is to make sure that our activities produce real, measurable results.

Mrs. Lardner: In terms of NATO leadership America has played a pivotal role. Most Americans don’t realize that NATO is headquartered in both Brussels, Belgium and Annapolis, Maryland. How many Americans are employed by NATO? Dr. Shea: It is difficult to give a precise number, as Americans are employed in a national capacity, at the US Mission to NATO or the Office of the US Military Representative, as well as in an international role at the two NATO Strategic Commands (SHAPE at Mons and Allied Command Transformation at Norfolk, Virginia, USA), as well as throughout the NATO command structure with its many headquarters in Germany, Italy, Turkey, etc. So I imagine the number would add up to several thousand but this figure of course has to be compared to the 126,000 US troops stationed in Europe during the Cold War, and a much smaller number of about 5,000 US troops who are participating in NATO’s Collective Defence in Poland today. Also remember that the US European Command, EUCOM, in Stuttgart, Germany, is a US national command and not part of NATO. Europeans are always willing to welcome as many Americans as we can have as the transatlantic link is the life blood of the Alliance and this is expressed first and foremost in .

the ability of Americans, Canadians and Europeans to work together and from the highest to the lowest levels of NATO Mrs. Lardner: NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander of Allied Command Operations in Europe is the title held by the most senior commander within certain multinational military alliances. Hasn’t this position has always been filled by a five star American general or admiral? Dr. Shea: Yes it has, although the majority have been four stars. Having the United States provide the Supreme Allied Commander has been since the time of General Eisenhower the very symbol of the US commitment to Europe and the fact that SACEUR commands both NATO as well as US forces in Europe also symbolizes that strong link. On the other hand, it is positive that the Europeans are now providing thesecond NATO Supreme Command at Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia. Having an American in Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

Europe and a European in America again demonstrates our integrated approach and interoperability throughout all the NATO structures.Mrs. Lardner: Who is the current Supreme Allied Commander? Dr. Shea: General Curtis Scaparrotti.

At an event last night two like -minded retired senior Navy Officers - one in his late 70's and another in his 50's could not stop speaking when they found out about my upcoming leadership book, The

Enchanted Boardroom: Evolve Into An Unstoppable Intuitive Leader, (Sept. 13th). It

was as if a door was unlocked and they could speak freely without being judged.

recognizing that they are powerful messages. Instead of running away you run towards them, incorporate needed insights to complement the facts.

You see, in the book, I dispel the mystery of merging the practical, tactical and logical with the intuitive, emotional, spiritual and physical sides of ourselves to provide whole leadership. It's about listening to those images, those disembodied words one hears, and those goosebumps and innate knowing and and work with the messages that come because they give you

Our desire to deserve love is one of the strongest, most basic human need. We all want to belong. Acceptance is a powerful motivator. Friendship matters. One disapproval can be devastating. It can block your progress by hurting you for the rest of your life. Is one person’s disapproving opinion really that powerful? It can be, but only if you allow it to be. First, let’s talk about where this disapproval comes from. Is it truly your friend? Someone who knows who they are, what they want, and where they’re going? In other words, someone who is their own friend? I doubt it. Someone who fits in that description would encourage you to do the same – to find out who you are, what you want, and where you want to go. It may appear to be a disapproval, especially when you’re emotionally involved in that moment. But if this is the kind of person that you have on your side, take it as a simple attempt to guide you to reach higher and learn from it. Most “disapprovals” that damage your confidence and causes you to unfriend yourself is from those who have already unfriended themselves. They have no idea who they are, what they want, or where they’re going. That is why they pick on you for being the fine

person that you are. They refuse to celebrate your gifts and growth. They feel jealous and powerless, therefore, they attempt to take your power by cutting you down. This is not a disapproval of you. This is their own disapproval of themselves. They are saying the same things that someone else has said to them first. They repeat those same words to themselves, and out of habit they say the same things to you. This is a vicious cycle. You must break this cycle. Do not give them any power. Do not be swayed

by words and actions that are below your standards. They are not powerful enough to influence you or the most important relationship in your life – your relationship with yourself. Be your own friend no matter what. If your friendship with yourself is not where you want it to be, figure out why. Look inward. Dig deep and tell yourself the truth. Love and forgive. Dejunk the elements that do not improve this relationship. Without this dejunking process, you will always feel off-balance and burned out, whether you realize it or not. Page 81 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Then look outward. Are there relationships that drain your energy without ever filling you up? These junky relationships occur at all levels. Anyone who keeps on taking without giving back, uses you for their gain only, and puts you down instead of building you up does not deserve you. Build positive relationships with those worth having in your life. Eliminate oppressive relationships. Spend time with people who respect you for who you are. Avoid negativity in all relationships – personal, professional, intimate, and casual. If you have a hard time pulling away from toxic relationships that do not serve you, go back inward and improve the relationship with yourself. What would you tell a friend who needs to leave negativity but can’t? You would tell them to do the right thing, to take better care of themselves, correct? Be that voice of reason for yourself. Check on your self-respect and know that you deserve respectful relationships with others. Strengthen and improve your relationship with yourself. Without this, your transformation for life -work balance and burnout prevention will not progress. Do not miss out on the chance to become your own friend. This relationship improves the quality of your life in all levels.

Huh says, "the pain does not go

away Tora." She reveals how that experience led her to, at the time, undiscovered purpose in life. Huh recalls sitting on steps behind a church while in Sierra Leone, weeping and crying out to God, asking, "Why all this suffering? Why all this pain? Why all this poverty, sickness, disease and agony?" She had witnessed the indescribable suffering of fellow Sierra Leoneans and had realized what they had to do in order to survive. Things which she did not have to do. Unbeknownst to her, while sitting tearfully on the steps behind that church with the weight of her questions, those steps and her candid conversation with God that day, began ordering her steps. toward the world and my fellow human beings. I have no regrets for my experiences; I believe I am a better person" Huh feels blessed to have escaped the rape, torture, mutilation and death that many of her fellow Sierra Leonean sisters endured during the civil war that took place in Sierra Leone.

As an African child, Huh, was fortunate enough to attend elite boarding and international schools, create lifelong friends with people from all races, religions and non-religions, and walks of life. Upon arriving in the United States, Huh experienced life as an immigrant and the hardships, fears and loneliness that came with it. She had lived her life as a protected child of diplomats, gone home to Sierra Leone only to witness the sickness of poverty, and then found herself rooted from her sheltered life, in America, a nation she had never imagined she would one day call home. "The tables turned on me Tora, and I had one choice. To live or to die. I chose to live! But not just to live, but to do so without bitterness, anger, malice and depression Page 89 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

"I do not, and will never take my life for granted." Huh now resides in America, which she calls her unexpected home. It was never a part of her plans while growing up to live in another country and call it home. Her plans had always been to live in Sierra Leone and to use her vast education to assist the poor and uneducated. In speaking with her, she revealed, "I attribute my being in here to a Divine Plan, which is still unfolding day by day as I mature spiritually, mentally, and emotionally." While listening to this brief video, Episode 1 - From the Author's Perspective Finding Purpose (The Reminder: Quiet Power Peaceful Confidence), look for opportunities in your life that will allow you to discover who you truly are and what your purpose in life is. No matter what may be going on in your life, find the power to uncover the blueprint for your life, discover your Quiet Power, Peaceful Confidence, and become who The Reminder describes as "The Synonym Assistant". {excerpt from "The Reminder"} As Huh puts it, "Our world needs as many Synonym Assistants as possible."

Last year, when I went to Calabria during the summer I got in contact with Cantine Lucá. This is a winery in the small town of Bianco which is in the far south of Calabria, in the province of Reggio Calabria. They were so nice that they came to pick me up a bit north of Crotone where I was staying and brought me down to see their winery. It was a great trip and I had a lot of fun. In this article, I would like to share this wonderful experience with you.

Bianco, by the Ionian Sea Bianco is a small town of around 4000 inhabitants in the province of Reggio Calabria, in the very south of Calabria by the Ionian Sea. This small town is situated on the coast in the Locride area, which is also known as the Riviera del Gelsomino (the Jasmine Riviera). The town owns its name to the surrounding chalky hills called chalandri, that is, badlands where the rocks and soil rich on clay have been eroded by wind and water over time. This part of southern Italy was the area of Magna Grecia that was populated by Greek settlers who arrived during the 8th century BC. Still today, you can indeed feel the winds of history blowing around you, or rather you can feel the presence of history and tradition mixed up with modernity. A modernity which unfortunately in some sense has brought with it exploitation of land and a certain amount of Page 94 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

decline and isolation. However, when talking about oenology and wine production, the presence of history and tradition is, indeed, something positive which provides a connecting thought from past to present, and hopefully towards the future.

Cantine Lucá – A winery in Bianco

Cantine Lucá winery was established in 1996 after the local wine producer cooperative went bankrupt and was closed down. Santino Lucá, therefore, decided to start making wine on his own. The winery comprises almost 40 Subscription link www.female-exec.com/

Palmenti, an ancient grape press During my visit in Bianco, we also went for a drive in the countryside south of Bianco. They wanted to show me how palmenti are scattered all around the landscape. A palmento is a stone structure consisting of one larger and one smaller basin connected to each other by a small opening. The palmenti were used in Magna Grecia to press the grapes and then channel the must into a smaller stone basin. During the era of the Roman Empire, they were used in a more industrial manner. They are most commonly found in the south of Calabria, but there are also remains of them in other regions such as Basilicata and Campania.

acres of vineyard where he cultivates the grape varieties Greco di Bianco, Mantonico bianco, Guardavalle, Magliocco, and Nerello Calabrese. The vineyard lots are spread out in different areas on the hills around Bianco. They brought me to have a closer look at several of these vineyard lots and it was fascinating to walk through the vines under the scorching hot sun with the hills on one side and the sea on the other. At one of the lots they showed me Greco di Bianco vines which are more than 80 years old. In this video here, Page 95 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Santino Lucá produces four different wines, namely Marasá Bianco IGT, Marasá Rosso IGT, Mantonico Passito IGT, and the flagship product Greco di Bianco Passito DOC. Marasá Bianco IGT This is a white wine made with the indigenous grape varieties Mantonico Bianco and Guardavalle. Generally, it is a straw yellow white wine with notes of flowers and fruits and a dry taste. Regarding the Marasá Bianco 2014, Santino told me that an unexpected refermentation in the bottle occurred and he thought it was of no use anymore. However, they discovered that the slightly fizzy character that disappears after a short while combined with the stronger notes of mature fruits makes it into an interesting white wine. It Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

Marasá Rosso IGT

This wine is made with the indigenous grape varieties Magliocco and Nerello Mascalese. It is a ruby red wine with smooth tannins and notes of dry fruit and vanilla. It pairs well with meat and aged cheeses.

Mantonico Passito IGT

Mantonico is a grape variety which is cultivated in Calabria along the Ionian coast and, especially, in the area around Bianco. The grape is yellowgreen of medium size and with a fairly resistant skin. The grapes are handpicked in early September and then put to dry on trellises in the sun for a week. The juice is matured in steel vats and thereafter in chestnut barrels. It is a fresh but still sweet passito with notes of dry figs and a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Greco di Bianco Passito DOC

The Greco di Bianco grapes are also harvested in early September and then laid to dry on trellises. The grapes are vinified only when the right concentration of aromas and sugars has been reached. The wine is matured 12 months in steel vats and thereafter 15 months in chestnut barrels. What is then so special about this passito? Well, it has wonderful and delicate, but still very recognizable, aromas of orange blossom and persistent notes of dry figs as well as other types of dry Page 96 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

fruit. It is a mineral wine where you can feel the closeness to the sea.

Do you fancy a visit to Cantine Lucá?

Would you want to visit Calabria and Cantine Lucá you can contact them directly via social media or their website. They are very helpful and will help you with your itinerary and how to organize your transport from Lamezia Terme down to Bianco. The area around Bianco is indeed very beautiful with a mix of countryside landscapes and beautiful beaches. This, together with good food and wine makes it into a powerful combination and the perfect holiday. It is a passito wine which stands out thanks to its delicate aromas and moderate sweetness.

such a nice person and it was very interesting to learn more about the grape varieties which are typical for the area and the winemaking process for the passito. The further south we came, it was particular because you could really see how the landscape changes and, of course, it got warmer and warmer. For me, as a former historian writing about the 19th century, it made my day to actually get a glimpse of Aspromonte from the car, which is a mountain I some time want go hiking on to somehow walk in the footsteps of Giuseppe Garibaldi.

My Wine Story

Cantine LucĂĄ, and Vittorio Corasaniti, who works for the winery dealing with the more commercial side, invited me to come and visit the winery in Bianco. At times like these, I feel truly fortunate to be able to do what I do. As I was visiting friends in Strongoli, close to Crotone, I did not have a car and Vittorio was so kind to come and pick me up in the morning and drive us down to Bianco. Alright, so he lives in Soverato which is half way between Crotone and Bianco, but still the poor guy had to drive like more than 6 hours that day back and forth. I am really grateful and honored that they arranged this whole day to show me the winery, the vineyards, and the area around Bianco. Santino himself is really

My interest in wine has always been there throughout my years in Italy, however it was only roughly 5 years ago that I decided to try out a sommelier course. I had seen an advertisement on Facebook about the local Fisar course in the center of Florence, and I thought it sounded very exciting. (Fisar is one of the Italian sommelier associations and they organize courses where you get accredited as a sommelier.) Therefore, I convinced a friend to come with me, even though she actually didn’t drink much and still does not. This turned out to be one of the best ideas I have had in recent years, as it brought us to discover a new and fascinating world of oenology, wine history, wine tastings, and much more. It all lead us to continue the course, attending all three levels in one sweep. For about three years now, I have been a sommelier and it is a genuinely fulfilling passion where you learn something new and meet interesting people in the Italian wine world almost every day.Fresh as a sommelier, I started elaborating my idea about combining wine and translation. Together with some fellow sommeliers from Fisar and a British translator colleague, we developed the concept Words & Wine. This one-day seminar on wine terminology in Italian and English was held in Florence nearly 3 years ago. I continued to develop this wine and terminology concept to

better fit a translator-dominated audience together with a couple of translator colleagues, changing the course name to Words at the Winery. The first of these seminars was held at the wine estate Il Borro (near Arezzo) in June 2014. In the autumn of 2014, we organized another Words at the Winery seminar at the winery Feudi di San Gregorio, near Avellino. During last year, I held smaller informal mini-courses about wine in Tuscany and a wine tasting every now and then together with my fellow sommelier, Nadia Padrin, and for Fisar Firenze. At the moment, I am working on putting together a new seminar on wine terminology in English for translators and people in the wine and tourism sector. The circumstances create the need, and the need, when it is great enough, creates the circumstances. -Jose Saramago Recipient of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Literature Over the past few months, I have been writing about women having a voice. I think it’s beneficial to review where and how your voice and activism connect both socially and politically in addition to the challenges and opportunities uniquely available to women for addressing domestic and global issues. According to Amherst College, social Page 106 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

activism is an intentional action with the goal of bringing about social change. If you feel strongly about a cause and are working towards a change, you could be considered an activist. An activist is anyone who is fighting for change in society. An activist can be anyone attending a rally against taxation increase, a politician fighting against international human rights abuses or a mother of a child killed by a drunk driver talking to students about drinking and driving. Social activists consider the larger picture – how can they find ways to end injustice and to create strong communities, which encourage economic, social and psychological health? Subscription link www.female-

According to Brian Martin in the Encyclopedia of Activism and Social Justice, “Activism is action on behalf of a cause, action that goes beyond what is conventional or routine. The action might be door-to-door canvassing, alternative radio, public meetings, rallies, or fasting. The cause might be women's rights, opposition to a factory, or world peace.

Social activism is the promotion and guidance used to cultivate changes in business practices, business policies or the . government to influence social change. The duties of a social activist include communicating with policy makers, researching the cause(s), and organizing responses for the media Social activism commonly focuses on conditions that directly impact the standards of living for those who are exposed to it. Some of the societal problems that have become a platform for social activist groups include medications, pesticides and chemical systems. A social activist is required to speak with a wide variety of people both within the group and opposing groups. Page 107 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Activism has played a major role in ending slavery, challenging dictatorships, protecting workers from exploitation, protecting the environment, promoting equality for women, opposing racism, and many other important issues. Activism can also be used for aims such as attacking minorities or promoting war. Activism has been present throughout history, in every sort of political system. Yet it has never received the same sort of attention from historians as conventional politics, with its attention to rulers, wars, elections, and empires. Activists are typically challengers to policies and practices, trying Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

to achieve a social goal, not to obtain power themselves. Much activism operates behind the scenes. There are many varieties of activism, from the face-to-face conversations to massive protests, from principled behavior to the unscrupulous, from polite requests to objectionable interference, and from peaceful protests to violent attacks. Activism is not well defined, so different people often have somewhat different ideas of what constitutes activism.

Activism is not necessarily a good thing or a bad thing. It all depends on the cause and the actions, and a person's judgment of what is worthwhile. One person might say that a protest is a valuable defense of freedom and another person might say that it is Page 108 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Social activism seeks to identify causes and sources of social inequality on all levels whether it is hunger, homelessness, poverty, under-employment and poor education. Working in conjunction with social agencies to provide essential services to under-served populations, social activists lobby to change policies that limit social and economic opportunity both domestically and globally. A political activist is someone who is involved in the political process for the sake of promoting, impeding or raising awareness of a certain issue or set of issues. Political activism typically involves engagement beyond just voting, whether it be through protest, demonstration or lecture. Political activists consider voting to be passive involvement. In contrast, political Subscription link www.female-

activism involves taking a clear stance on an issue, voicing an opinion and working to ensure that the change desired by the political activists comes to fruition. Political activism is most effective when conducted with large groups. Community organizers and political leaders see the most sweeping change when the voices of demonstrators and activists draw a great deal of attention. This is why creative acts of resistance by political activists are usually more powerful.

Demonstrations of political activism aimed toward ending a corrupt or unjust system tend to be more disruptive. This sort of activism sometimes becomes violent. Extreme activists use these methods to disrupt an oppressive system, call attention to its flaws and Page 109 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

terminate it. Despite this, many strands of non-violent political activism exist. Within any movement, there can be a variety of beliefs and emphases. Some people and groups in the peace movement oppose any involvement in war or war-making, whereas others are primarily concerned about nuclear weapons, land mines, or a particular war. Other social movements include labor, feminism, environmental, gay and lesbian, animal rights, and disability. Movements provide an important context for activism in several ways. They constitute a network of individuals and groups that is a source of communication, advice and the experience of other groups to discover possible solutions. Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

They provide a framework or perspective for understanding society, its problems, possible futures, and ways of bringing about change. They provide a framework or perspective for understanding society, its problems, possible futures, and ways of bringing about change. This framework, or belief system, develops out of the experience of activists, combined with the ideas of writers and leaders; some who are part of the movement and some who are largely independent of it. For example, the feminist movement has supported activism through the network of individuals and groups, has fostered learning about tactics, and has offered an understanding of the problem of patriarchy through women sharing their experiences and through feminist writers presenting ideas that illuminate and inspire their readers. The Women’s March on Washington was unprecedented in scale as a social Page 110 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

movement, not just in sheer volume of attendees, but in the array of issues it encompassed, and the diversity at all levels of leadership, from national to local. The executive director of the Arab American Association of New York, Linda Sarsour — a Brooklyn native, mother of three, and now one of the national co-chairs of the Women’s March on Washington held this past January, has been working at the crossroads of civil rights, religious freedom, and racial justice for 15 years. generations of women before us have given their best to achieve.” Alice Paul, that intrepid organizer who first wrote out the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923, said, “I always feel the movement is sort of a mosaic. Each of us puts in one little stone, and then you get a great mosaic at the end.” Women working together and adding their small stones to the grand mosaic, have increased their rights against all odds, nonviolently, from an initial position of powerlessness. We have much to beproud of in this heroic legacy, and a great deal to celebrate on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Women’s Rights Movement. Sabrina Schaeffer, executive director of the conservative Independent Women's Forum (Kellyanne Conway has a seat on the board), said, "Gender is not the whole story." American women share common struggles but different experiences, which is why "women's rights" remain so divisive and why its tent is so broad. Karla Holloway, a professor of English and Law at Duke University who focuses on the African American cultural studies, said, “Conversations that fixate on the achievements of Hillary Clinton come at the expense of mothers working minimum wage jobs to keep their families above federal poverty line. As some women become more visible, others disappear. Women whshe said. Those involved in behind-the-scenes work, in support of a cause, can be called either activists, supporters or members of an activist group or movement. This is a matter of definition but has a wider significance. For many people, especially in social movement groups, concerned about the world's problems, there is status to being called an activist. This can lead to a valuing of dramatic and visible direct action and a corresponding devaluation of routine, less visible activity such as answering correspondence or handling accounts. On the other hand, some people who take action do not think of themselves as activists. In their minds, they are simply doing what is necessary to address a pressing problem.

the boundaries of what is called activism. Someone working on a campaign may spend time listening to the news, reading and sending e-mails, phoning others, participating in meetings, and writing a grant proposal. None of this is out in public, such as joininga rally or blockade, but an essential part of what makes such public events possible. It is useful to distinguish between "direct action" or "front-line action," which people are putting their bodies on the line, and doing support work usually behind the scenes. Without the support work, the front -line action would hardly occur. This is analogous to military forces: only a few troops are engaged in fighting, with vastly more personnel involved in accounting, cooking, maintenance, and a host of other support activities. A home, condo, or apartment goes beyond a building with a roof spread over our heads. It goes beyond having a place to eat, sleep, rinse-andrepeat. It is where most family relationships are fostered and explore our interests! And, in the event that the environment is appropriate, it's an accepted place where our aspirations can prosper and grow. Ask yourself: Does your home have a reflection of your goal-achieving energy in the right way and measure? If your answer is “No”, then the time to discover your best prosperous energy is now! Decluttering is simply the art of making your environments, or rather surrounding, align along with your lifestyle and inner energy. In essence, once you attain it, it can be dream-inspiring and life-changing. Your office or home tells a lot about what is happening in your life.

Are you in doubt? You better don’t be! Your living space is an extension of yourself, and changing energy in your home can make you a thrilling and wonderful life.

Effects of Clutter

By decluttering your space don’t just consider “functional” clutter, but “emotional” clutter as well. Decluttering is one of the most challenging and difficult processes to undertake. Why? For some, it is a time factor and for others they wrestle with determining what to keep and what to give or throw

Physical clutter is linked to emotional clutter, depression and various other kinds of negative habits and patterns. If a space is holding past negative energy, anyone who enters that space will most likely be adversely affected by that energy on a subliminal level. This usually manifests itself in a negative “vibe” that is felt but often unexplained.

So here is your new chance to create a wide open space where you feel good and create new possibilities for yourself and your life. Your home is the physical and emotional base for you and your family and how it directly affections your emotional and psychological well-being. Here are some simple tips you can utilize to help you level-up your game of Feng Shui and kickstart your energy remodel.

Page 121 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

1. Get to know your home

Begin by becoming more aware of each room in your home - what are you really fascinated about in each of them? What are the problems? What kind of feelings do you want to have in these spaces? When you can give an answer to each of the questions, you’ll be prepared to start building the space to fuel your unique dreams.

Subscription link www.female-exec.com/s.html

2. Declutter Get brutal about deleting the mess, chaos, and negative energy. From piles of old files to bins of old mementos and overflowing dresser compartments, you will be shocked at what can draw you back. Clear out the clutter you will surely feel a lot better right away.

3. Rearrange and rethink Every element in a space adds up to the energy of such space. Inappropriate arrangement of furniture or a style of art that generate negative energy can be an issue. Tweak your furniture placement and experiment with different types of art and dĂŠcor to see just what vibe works for you.

4. Paint Color Different paint color works different for different individuals or families. All it takes is establishing a balance in creating the space that works best for your purpose and pursuit in life. Painting alone can be compared to giving your space a massage - the space looks fresh and feel much better than before! Take your wellness seriously and handle your clutter woes one step at a time. The outcomes could surprise and motivate you! Page 122 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

Welcome

to Franchise Forum. My name is David Goodman. I am the Founder and CEO of Franchise Biz Consulting. I have helped many people become proud franchise owners throughout the years, however, one of the most rewarding categories of people I love to help are the ready to retire or the already retied individual. Typically they come to me because they were laid off or forced to retire or simply have not sufficiently prepared for retirement and now they find that their money will not last their expected longevity.

What To Do With The Money Question Of Retirement?

Most of my candidates who find themselves in this precarious and unsettling circumstance have a few options. They can drastically downsize or move in with a relative. Many look to the stock market by way of a trained professional to invest properly. Those selected financial planners will do their best, never-the-less, I find that many of them say to me in confidence that it is really too late. This is something one needs to prepare for when they are 26 not 66. There are few other options except for one shining bright star… Own a business and let it become your personal stock market. You can own 100% of the stock, run it yourself, be in charge of the profits and take pride in knowing that in the “Encore of Your Life”, you have finally taken the reins and control your own destiny. Of course those statements beg the question, what business and how, what, where, when, etc.? If you are asking yourself those questions then it makes perfect sense to own a Franchise. Just as an example, I will give my readers one of my own personal experiences.

How I Answered the Money Problem Of Retirement.

I was 30 years old and I decided that I did not want to work for anyone. That concept came as a lightning bolt after a few years working for a major manufacturing company. Being a sales associate, I felt that I was doing well and making a very fair living. In 1975 my income was about $50,000 a year. But I noticed that my salary was based totally on sales. If I sold nothing, I received nothing. Thankfully, my sales were normally higher than the expectation and in those cases, if I sold over my quota, I would get a nominal bonus. However, in the ensuing year that bonus would be predicated on the new dollar volume which I had set the previous year. In addition, my territory was cut due to the rational that, if one person could do so well, then it only stands to reason that the territory is too much for one person to handle; two people should do twice as well. This escalating bonus structure and territory slaughter made me step back and look at the big picture. The big picture was saying, “If I want to control my own life, I simply need to run my own business”. The problem with that thought is I had no idea where to start. I really, had nowhere to go and no one to guide me. I did my home work and after two and a half years I chose to buy a franchise. It turns out that franchises were built with me in mind.

Page 129 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

They would give me the training in all aspects of the business and they follow up with constant support. Wow, a business in a box. That would be perfect for me. I bought a Dunkin’ Donuts Shop. I did exactly what they told me and followed the system in every detail. To my pleasant surprise, my store became the number one ranked Dunkin’ Donuts Shop in the country! Oh, by the way, I hate to cook or bake and I am diabetic! I simply looked at the business part of the franchise and I theorized that it would be a great opportunity. By the way, if memory serves me correctly, I did almost $120,000 in 25 cent donuts my first month! As a short side bar, I am told that the top stores now do that in two weeks or less! I sold the business by the time I reached 35 years old and retired. Of course I found out very quickly retireing at 35 years old needed a lot more money then I had acquired. Without going into that “New Beginning Chapter” of my life and to spare my readers from gory details, let me simply note that at my current juncture at age 68, I have found that being a franchise consultant is extremely rewarding. I love what I do for my candidates. It probably is what I should have done from the beginning of my career not at the “Encore of my life”.

Even Being Brain Dead This One Could Be A Money Machine!

Now let’s get to the “nitty-gritty”. One of the most rewarding and fun franchises that I have in my directory is one that allows the owner to have a money making machine. This one, in my humble opinion is just that! I am not talking about a business that will produce money whenever you turn on the machine, that is a fantasy and if anyone tells you they have such a thing, please call me first, because I have a bridge I want to sell you! This is a legitimate business that is as close to a “no brainer” as one that I could come up with:

This is a Business in a Box. It is designed to be installed by the franchise professionals in any high foot traffic shopping mall. Then open the cash register and get ready for business! At Island of Treats customers are able to mix and match anything they please and best of all - everything is the same price; Just pay based on the weight of the bag. Island of Treats designed their patent pending retail display unit focusing on providing the franchise operator ease of assembly and convenient daily operation. The kiosk features a built-in selfcontained commissary plumbing system and a "plug and play" electrical setup. Unbelievable!

"Business in a box" Assembled and ready to open in under eight hours  We do not mark-up the candy.  We allow the operator to go to local suppliers and buy them directly.  Patent-pending intellectual property provides protection to those who want a secure investment. Offer A Product That Is A Basic Need To All People.

Next on the agenda is another business that has a ground swell of appeal. Also, in my opinion, this one has a lot of punch with a minimal amount of time and effort. It is another, money making machine (MMM). Once again, my definition of a MMM is: once you get it up and running, it just requires maintenance and very little management. When I was a young man actually let’s go back even further, when I was in the pre teen era of my life, I remember with crystal clarity that feeling of thirst after playing basketball in the hot sun on a lazy summer’s day. The best thing to do was to go to one of the homes in the neighborhood and turn on the outdoor water faucet and take a few long swigs. The water was warm but I felt it was safe to drink. However, in today’s world that comfort simply would not be there. Firstly, the neighbor would not be so friendly as to allow you to drink from their outdoor spigot. And secondly, the water may not be safe to drink. That is why water vending machines are gaining in popularity. There are numerous advantages to being involved in

the vending machine business. The icing on the cake is that it is possible to reap those benefits quickly. Vending machines are a convenience for customers, especially vending machines that offer variety and accessibility. Credit-card acceptance and healthier food options are helping to keep this business poised for longevity. The use of credit cards actually increases revenues by 15-30%. Our Water Vending Machines (WaterStations® portfolio of 12 provide an enormous opportunity for building owners, fitness and health food stores, hotels, municipalities/local government, military, educational schools/colleges and independent companies to provide a valuable service to their customers or the community while making recurring and growing revenue. There are many side benefits, too – environmental protection, health and wellness Subscription link www.female-

improvements, lower cost of water and increased availability of water. WaterStation® Technology has the largest portfolio of water vending machines on the planet that can be located in over 86 vertical markets. Another Business In A Box.

There are a few categories of businesses that are fueled by need and not want. This next business fits into that grouping. What does one do when they need a short term loan or the means of getting a payday advance? This franchise caters to a demographic in which over 150 million Americans fit into. The franchise is perfect for a person who needs immediate cash flow. The franchise prides itself in finding currently running mom and pop businesses for their potential franchisees, then scooping them up, rebuilding and rebranding

them, thusly affording the new franchisee with immediate cash flow! FFC is the closest thing to owning a neighborhood branch bank. We have a bank look and feel, and we offer a full menu of financial services to the "un-banked" or "under-banked" customer, typically a middle-income working family. Our services include check cashing, money orders, wire transfer, electronic bill payment, tax-preparation services, short-term loans, and a low to middle income mortgage program. We are located in attractive suburban strip centers close to the customer's home or work. To learn more about

Ultimate Business Opportunity… Absolutely No Investment Required!! Of course there are some individuals who simply cannot even put together 10 K to get their business aspirations off the ground. And to those individuals or anyone looking to supplement their income, I have a special bonus program specifically designed for all my “E” magazine readers. I will personally send you a check for up to $2,000 for anyone who sends me contact information (name, address, phone number and email address) of anyone who is interested in a franchise and through my efforts becomes a franchisee. Of course there are certain restrictions. Please call for further details. GOOD FRANCHISE HUNTING!

Be amazed with all of life. Be amazed at this moment and all that it beholds. Be amazed at you in this moment, and each breath of life in it. Be amazed in the knowing that every breath you take is a new awakening. How wonderful is that? In this realization, be amazed at the energy this moment brings, as you absorb only the positive energy, and send out your highest vibration of positive and loving energy out to the world. Absorb the positive and release the positive. I am amazed at the energy that surrounds us, and how we have the power to transmute negative or bad energy into good by using our highest vibration to dominate the bad energy, in all of life situations. You can do this when you stay present and understand the power that is within you. Be amazed at your own beautiful self, and the love that lives inside of you. That love emanates you, and is there to express and enlighten others. Use it. Instead of letting bad energy take you down, transmute it into good by sending back love. This means that you will begin to re-frame how you respond to others in all life situations. You will respond in a way that serves your soul and not the ego. You will be amazed at how your soulful responses will keep you at peace, and contribute to the growth of collective consciousness. Take each moment to find the love in it. You will discover that the love in each moment, is always pulled from within you. Even the most stressful moments, and utter moments of discord can be transmuted into peace when you stop, look, and listen to Page 136 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

your higher vibration of love within you. This is the internal conscious space where you can hear intuition tell you how to respond. Listen to it. Be amazed at how different situations will feel, as you start seeing things of form in this world from a soul’s eye. This is powerful stuff. I encourage you all to practice this as you enter the new season of Spring and Summer. Just as you are taken back by the beauty of a new fragrant flower in full bloom, you can equally be amazed at the new you in full bloom as you illuminate the love and light of your highest vibration out into the Universe. As I always say to my readers and clients‌this is your free gift. Enjoy it, and share it with the world. Purpose yourself to love yourself, and express Subscription link www.female-

that love toward others. Remember, at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how we loved our self, and how we expressed that love toward others with dignity and grace. When we do this, it affords us the opportunity to be amazed at all of life, and not just the seemingly beautiful things in life. I believe it is our Divine opportunity to change the course of events by sending out love and instructing the world of form to mirror and match that love. Don’t mirror the negative, instead let the world mirror the love within in you. In situations like dealing with someone whose energy is constantly bringing you down, is no different. Don’t lower the standard of your energy. Instead, raise the bar. Heighten the vibration on Page 137 E The Magazine for Today’s Female Executive

earth by radiating your highest vibration out there, instructing the world in form to reflect it back to you. Allow the world to match your loving light energy to yours. Not the other way around. Be soulful, and believe in your oneness with Divinity so that you no longer match and mirror the collective unconsciousness. Reverse the flow of energy by letting your highest vibrational energy dominate. Remember, our soul is nourished by what it gives out. Not by what it receives. So go out there and be the expression of love and light that you were purposed here to be, and use this light to help you navigate through every personal life situation. Never forget who you are. You are Divine at soul level. We have the power within to transform the ugly into the beautiful. We have the potential to do this, one person at a time, in each present moment we breathe life. So go out there and be amazed with all of life! As always, I encourage you to reach out to me for personal guidance by clicking here, and welcome the opportunity to watch you grow spiritually, personally, in relationships, and professionally. ~Lily Sanders

Also congratulations to NAFE/Women In Networking in Indiana who has become partner with the National Women’s History Project (NWHP), which recognizes and celebrates the diverse and historic accomplishments of women by providing informational services and educational and promotional materials. NAFE/WIN is currently in their Women’s History Newspaper “The Gazette”. We are looking for different avenues to expand knowledge about our 501 ( c ) (3) organization and to grow. Angel believes we should never stop educating ourselves. For her first leg of education at the beginning of college she chose psychology once she had satisfied that education she pursued business and law. Currently she is in pursuit of a marketing education when that education is satisfied she is sure she will find a new education interest to pursue.

Angel Toussant I first met Angel through my Riverside nafe director Joan E. Wakeland and was very impressed as to what a dynamic women she is. She also recently joined our Riverside nafe network. I also had the opportunity to hear her speak at several locations and she is amazing. I asked her to speak for some upcoming nafe meetings, which are in Menifee, Murrieta and Temecula and I am looking forward to those presentations. Angel Toussant was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and at age 37 moved from Anchorage to Northern California. She remained in Northern California until April, 2016 at which time she found her new home in Murrieta,California. She said “my proudest life accomplishment is raising two phenomenal daughters. I love to say I can die a happy person if I accomplish nothing else in life because of the relationship I have with my girls. I am confident my relationship with my daughters is well above average and I am confident they feel the same way, despite the many parenting mistakes I made along the way”. Her career choices are as varied as her education choices She has held positions from teachers aid to police officer and many careers in between. Currently, she is providing monitoring services for parents who are required by the courts to have supervised visits. She consider myself a serial entrepreneur, because she continually invests in endeavors that provide her the opportunity for her to grow a healthy income while doing what she loves to do, which is to always find new ways to help others around her, be it family, friend, or stranger. She has written and published two journal books. The first was for recovering addicts (out of print) and the second one is for goal‑setting. She is currently writing a personal growth book which she plans to publish by year end. She owns an online store (LifesPowerStore.Com) thttp:// lifespowerstore.com/ hat sells, educational/ personal growth books, and other educational, inspirational, motivational tools and products. Her hobbies, like her education and careers are varied. She enjoys golf, horseback riding, photography (nature and wildlife), snow skiing, boating, jet skiing, jewelry making, hiking, bike riding, and graphic design.
