Ergonomic Recommendations

Workplace Etiquette Individual Space Organization ◦

Contain personal items within your workspace, not visible above panels or storage units.

◦

Post items to tackable panel surface only. Please avoid using tape.

◦

Store coats in designated areas.

◦

Regularly purge files and other storage items.

◦

Maintain a neat and tidy workspace by cleaning up drink cups, bottles, food containers, dishes and utensils daily.

◦

Close storage units and push your desk chair under the worksurface before leaving for the day.

◦

Greenery is designated throughout the facility; personal plants are not allowed.

◦

Refrain from utilizing the floor, especially aisles or underneath desks to store boxes or other materials.

Group Space Organization ◦

Tidy up spaces after each use, including technology tools. Heightadjustable seating should be lowered and pushed under the table|desk (‘down & in’).

Be mindful of posting/writing on walls. Others may need to use the space. If you need to save posted items for a period of time, please mark “Save” along with the name of a contact and the expected date of removal.

Utilize the ‘pack in|pack out’ concept—bringing your materials, recyclables, and trash with you when you leave.

◦

Pick up documents sent to the printer in a timely fashion or use ‘secure print.’

◦

We all love treats. If you bring them in to share, remember it’s your responsibility to clean up promptly.

Room Scheduling ◦

If you don’t need technology, please try to refrain from scheduling a space that contains it so it is available to others who do. Utilize other spaces whenever possible.

◦

Be mindful of the size of space and privacy required – don’t be a space hog.

Odors ◦

Feel free to eat at your desk and in shared spaces. Please prepare food (e.g., warming your lunch) in the Member Center.

◦

Use scented products sparingly.

◦

Please keep your shoes on.

Green Practices ◦

Turn off workstation task lights when not in use. Turn off lights in meeting rooms when exiting the room.

◦

Use the appropriate receptacles for recycling, composting, and waste to energy.

◦

Please use individual wire baskets in workstations for paper only, which will be picked up by the custodial staff.

Space Behaviors & Protocols Open Plan Behaviors and Protocols ◦

Prairie dogs and crows are not allowed. Peeking over the walls to talk to coworkers, or calling out members who sit a few desks away is disruptive. People will appreciate it if you get up and walk around to their work space and speak to them quietly.

◦

No cutting! Use main walkways and go around the perimeter of workstations instead of cutting through work areas to talk with others.

◦

There are days when sounds can be distracting. Move work to different areas as needed. Find a temporary location to complete concentration work; your new work environment offers a greater variety of spaces to work – make use of them!

What else can be said? Do not use speaker-phones for calls or for checking messages. If you prefer hands-free phone operation, ask for a head set.

◦

Bumping into someone can be good. Take advantage of impromptu conversations in walkways, and foster those informal conversations. You never know what you might discover.

An Alcove is the perfect spot for personal calls or potentially disruptive activities. Take advantage of these. Conversations in open meeting rooms can be hear by all. Be respectful and close doors during meetings.

You have the right to request privacy at your workstation.

Using ear buds to listen to music can signal “do not disturb”.

You may find also find another method that works, to indicate you need private time.

◦

If you find yourself in a lengthy informal discussion transition it to a private setting. Your neighbors will appreciate it!

◦

Seeing co-workers and having access to them can enhance communications and prevent e-mail overload. Make mindful, informal connections with others in your areas.

Share, listen, hear, and tune-in to each other. When you want to tune-out, earphones are a wonderful thing.

Pull up a chair, or pedestal to have a quick, impromptu chat.

Conversations longer than a couple of minutes should be taken to a quiet space.

NOTE:

STARTING THE TREADMILL

**The display will show “---” if the Safety Key is not engaged.

1.

Turn the treadmill on by pressing the power button.

**The steps are counted normally from 1 to 9,999 steps.

After 9,999 steps, the display format changes to accommodate more than four digits. Take the number shown on the display and add a zero to the right for the correct number of steps.

2.

The current user weight will be flashing on the display panel. Adjust your weight to obtain accurate calorie calculations.

3.

Make sure the safety key is engaged in the console

4.

Press the Start button to start the treadmill belt. The console will start counting minutes on the treadmill from 0:00.

TREADMILL STATION PERSONAL SETTINGS **There are several features that can be set using the Personal Settings feature to tailor LifeSpan treadmill desks to your specific preferences.** 1.

MAXIMUM SPEED- Select 2.0 mph or 4.0 mph maximum speed options

INTELLI-GUARD SELECTION- On/Off Setting

RESUME SPEED- After pressing pause and returning to the treadmill desk the default belt speed will be 0.4 mph, which is the normal starting speed. The resume starting speed can me modified to default to return to the previous speed. **In addition, the following features are applicable:**

AUDIBLE SAFETY BEEP- On/Off setting. Each time the control buttons on the console are pressed an audible beep is used as an alert that a change was made. This is designed to prevent accidental speed adjustments being made without users being aware that they are accidentally pressing a button.

2.

METRIC VERSUS STANDARD READOUTS- Change the display readouts for speed and distance to Metric or back to standard readouts.

3.

CHARGING PORT- This port can be used to charge your wireless mobile devices. You will not be able to save your workout data to a USB via this port; it is used for charging purposes only.

TO ENTER PERSONAL SETTINGS MODE 1.

Press and hold “STOP” and

buttons for three seconds to enter Settings Mode.

Press the

SAFETY TIPS WHILE IN USE 1.

Always consult a physician before beginning an exercise program.

2.

If you experience chest pains, nausea, dizziness, or shortness of breath, stop exercising immediately and consult your physician before continuing.

3.

Do not wear clothing or jewelry that might catch on any part of the treadmill.

4.

Wear shoes with high traction rubber soles. Do not wear shoes with heels, leather soles, cleats, or spikes.

5.

Do not walk or run backwards on the treadmill; always face forward.

6.

Allow the running belt to fully stop prior to getting off the treadmill.

7.

Make sure that the area behind the treadmill remains completely clear during use. A minimum of 3 feet of clearance is required for safety reasons.

Troubleshooting a Sit-To-Stand Desk Should the Sit-To-Stand Desk stop working, please confirm: 1.

All cables are secure at the power control box.

Power strip power cord is securely plugged into base of panel outlet.

Reset the sit-to-stand as noted below If unsuccessful, notify your facility contact for assistance.

INITIALIZED/RESET A desk reset synchronizes motors by returning the table to the lowest position.

It resolves most mechanism issues. A desk may need to be initialize/reset after assembly, or when the legs are uneven or not raising. This should be preformed once a month.

To Initialize/Reset: 1. Press the down arrow on switch.

2. Bring table all the way down to the lowest position.

3. Release the down arrow button.

4. Hold down arrow again for 10-15 seconds until table moves down, then up slightly (about ½” distance).

SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT Seat height adjustment allows for properly positioning your body at the worksurface. Seat height should be adjusted to allow your legs to maintain a 90-degree angle to the floor or footrest. This keeps pressure off the back of the legs so that blood flow is not restricted.

• To increase seat height, pull up on the lever and raise your body out of the chair.

• To decrease seat height, stay seated in the chair and pull up on the lever.

SEAT DEPTH ADJUSTMENT Seat depth helps you sit back far enough in the chair to use the backrest without creating pressure behind the knees. With a full 3” of seat depth, there is a lot of room to adjust to promote blood flow to the legs.

• To lengthen, while seated, pull up lever and slide forward • To shorten, while seated, pull up lever and slide backward. **A minimum of two fingers should fit between the back of your knee and the front of the seat.

BACK SUPPORT/LUMBAR ADJUSTMENT Lumbar support maintains the lumbar curvature that occurs naturally in the spine of the lower back when standing. Lumber support reduces pressure between the vertebrae, which is important for a healthy back.

• Adjust bar up or down to reach desired location.

BACK STOP MECHANISM Back stop allows you to select an upright position or limit the amount of recline. Multiple positions in the back stop allow adjustment in the chair to fit the body.

TILT TENISON KNOB ADJUSTMENT Tilt tension knob regulates the amount of resistance felt when leaning back in the chair, and the effort required to recline backwards.

• To tighten, crank the knob forward • To loosen, crank the knob backward

HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE ARMS Armrest height supports the musculature of the neck and shoulders when it’s set properly. It is important to adjust the armrest height to take weight off of the shoulders and limit fatigue.

• To raise, push lever and pull arm up • To lower, push lever and push arm down **A positioned correctly, shoulders will be relaxed.

• Press your back against the backrest, select the new position, then twist the lever upwards again; release the lever.

OSCILLATION RESISTANCE MECHANISM **Adjusts how loose the tilt mechanism functions** • Use the knob located underneath the seat in the center to adjust- turning clockwise builds resistance, turning counter-clockwise lessens the resistance.
