WHOWEARE

The City of Muskogee operates under a council-manager form of government. The City Council is made up of 9 members who vote on policy decisions and hire the City Manager. The City Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the City. City Councilors are elected from each of the four wards within the city, and set the initiativesandgoalsforcityoperations.

Additionalprojectsfundedby thistaxincludepubicsafety, improvementstocityparks, Muskogee-DavisRegional Airport,theMartinLutherKingJr. Centeranddemolitionand beautificationwithinthecity limits.

In2019,votersapprovedtherenewalof$.005 salestaxwith$.0033dedicatedtostreetsand $.0017forothercapitalprojects.In2020,this renewalwentintoeffectandsetthewheelsin motionforasixyearstreetimprovementproject. 24th miles Street

Constructionwascompletedon 24thStreet. Thestreetwasrebuilt completelyfromthegroundup. Constructionincludednewwater andsewerlines,newdrainage system,newcurbandgutter,new surface,newstripingandnew streetsignage.

Onehundredmilesofstreetswill be rehabilitatedwithinthecitylimits. Phase1ofthestreetimprovement packageswascompletedin2022,inthe Northeastzoneofthecity. Repairs includedmillandoverlay,micro-seal, and concreterepair. Workinthe NorthwestandSouthwestzoneswill beginin2023,makingthisthelargest streetrehabprojectinMuskogee's history.

AnewparkinglotattheMartin LutherKingJr.Centeraddedan additional90parkingspacesto provideamplespaceforthe communitytogatherforpublic events.

TheFourCornersProject downtownaddedmodern synchronizedtrafficsignalstohelp easecongestionontheviaduct whentrainsareonthetracks. Signalswillbefullyfunctionalin 2023.

This year, MFD received a grant from FEMA to purchase new communications equipment for vehicles and personnel, and implemented a new fire reporting system.

Publicsafetyisatoppriorityforthe CityofMuskogee.TheMuskogeeFire Departmentrespondedto4,582 emergencycallsin2022. Ofthose,94 werestructurefiresand2243were medicalemergencies.

1,976 calls hours

Firefighters logged 1976 hours of training in areas such as swift water rescue, aerial ladder operations, hazardous materials, emergency vehicle operation and medical response.

Better officers together

The MPD Peer Support Team received a grant to expand their services to help other agencies, like the fire department, develop their own Peer Support Teams and assist other agencies, as needed. Seven officers were asked by The Warrior’s Rest Foundation to work as trained Peer Support members at the National Police Week in Washington, D.C.

TheMuskogeepolice departmentis85members strong. Thisyear,theyreceived agranttopurchaseanarmored rescuevehicletoaddtothefleet ofemergencyresponsevehicles.

The Special Operations team was able to update and replace outdated equipment and supplies, including new body cameras.

TheMuskogeePoliceDepartment heldtheirannualCampoutforKids toydrivetocollectdonatedtoysfor Christmasforareachildren. Enough giftswerecollectedformorethan100 Muskogeeareachildren.

Clean water

The City of Muskogee has dedicated $18 million to the treatment and transportation of clean water in the city Clean drinking water is essential to residents and we are making sure that your water supply is clean and safe.

All of that water has to go somewhere. New sewer lines across the city ensure that it is transported safely to the Pollution Control Plant where it can be treated and sanitized
