A LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER Welcome to the 5th issue of The Dish magazine. Part of vacationing and living in Ozark Mountain Country is about the new dining experiences you can have. There are over 300 restaurants in the Branson area just waiting for you to discover. Our vision is to be a useful tool to help you experience a variety of Branson’s dining options. Check out menu samples and highlights from a variety of Branson area restaurants. Just remember that if you see menu prices, they are always subject to change from this publication. If this magazine helps make a decision for you, please tell the restaurant you saw their information in The Dish and that it was influential. We’d appreciate it. Farmhouse Restaurant Farmhouse Restaurant customers are saying...

“...love this place. We come here every time we visit Branson.” “...our third visit this weekend! Amazing as always, superior service and very high quality food! Whooo!!!”

Farmhouse offers... ...breakfast all day, featuring omelets with eggs from pasture ranged chickens, ...hand-breaded, chicken-fried steaks and golden fried chicken, ...thick, juicy pork chops, ... or a lighter fare of delicious homemade soups and salad, …and, of course, their famous blackberry cobbler. Like many tourists who first vacation in Branson and then end up moving there, Roger Davis moved to Branson and bought the Farmhouse Restaurant in l976. He met his wife, Joey, and they were married later that same year. With their blended family, Roger and their two sons cooked in the kitchen, while Joey served and hosted in the dining room. Their younger daughter would be nearby playing in her playhouse, the closet. In those early years, Branson’s winters saw few tourists, and business was lean to non-existent, so Roger hired a band to play in the upstairs lounge of the restaurant. The restaurant was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week in order to provide a yearround income.

In l978, Joey began attending a local Nazarene church. Roger soon agreed to join her, but said he did not want to “get involved.” As they eventually renewed their faith and commitment to serve the Lord, Joey began to pray for a way to close the lounge. As they would soon find out, God had a plan. A fire from a fryer thermostat malfunctioned during a busy October evening in l979, which caused minimal damage, but left every inch of the restaurant covered with soot. The fire marshal predicted at least a month for cleaning and repairs. Since they had no insurance to cover the damages, Roger, their sons, and several employees worked non-stop. The restaurant opened in ten days. Roger closed the lounge, never to open again; it was replaced by a buffet and live Gospel music on weekends. As the restaurant downstairs began to grow, they later decided to offer their guests a waiting area and gift shop upstairs. Throughout the years, their children and grandchildren have worked in the restaurant and many of their employees have become longtime Farmhouse family, with the longest being 42 years and still working. Joey’s world turned upside down

when Roger went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2019. Not only has she had to learn how to do what Roger did all those many years, but she has also had to struggle through our country’s unprecedented pandemic and shutdown. Through it all, she has been strengthened by her faith in God and encouraged by her family and Farmhouse staff. When a date was scheduled to reopen the restaurant as a result of the pandemic shutdown, Joey and her daughter realized it was the one year anniversary of Roger’s home-going. They saw it as an honor to their husband and father. He was a rock to his family and staff. They were delighted to reopen and begin to serve others again. Joey would like to invite you to become a part of the Farmhouse family...come and enjoy their delicious, authentic country cooking, followed by their famous warm blackberry cobbler! While you’re there, we’re certain you’ll enjoy their fun staff; make a friend and have the opportunity to thank a Veteran. The restaurant and gift shop are open seven days a week from 7am to 8pm.
