City of Taylorsville Newsletter Consumer Confidence Report

JUNE UPDATES Subscription Green Waste Collection The weekly Green Waste Collection Program is in full effect this spring and will continue collection through mid-December. Residents can sign up and help divert green waste from the landfill to be processed into mulch that can be purchased for use from the Salt Lake Valley and TransJordan landfills. There is a one-time start-up fee of $60 to pay for the can and a quarterly fee of $31.50 ($126 per year). A green waste can is less expensive than an additional black garbage can at $204 per year. Green Waste collection accepts vegetables, fruits, eggshells, lawn clippings and weeds, coffee grounds and tea bags and tree branches and leaves. All items should be placed directly in the green waste can unbagged. Green Waste collection is the same day as your regular refuse and recycling day. For more information on the green waste collection, please visit our wasatchfrontwaste.org/green-waste.

The purpose of the Consumer Confidence Report is to provide you with information on the quality of your drinking water. In addition to water quality, the report also gives information on conservation resources, potential contamination sources and locations of where your water originates. Taylorsville-Bennion Improvement District (TBID) distributes culinary water that meets all federal and state quality requirements. The report can be found on the TBID website: tbid.org or you may contact the distric at 801-968-9081 and a copy will be mailed to your home. WATER CONSERVATION Thank you to all who followed the Weekly Lawn Water Guide (aka the Drought Watering Guide) last summer! Water-saving actions made a difference, saving billions of gallons during this extreme drought. Keep it up! Go online to conservewater.utah.gov/ weekly-lawn-watering-guide

If you have any questions, please contact Taylorsville-Bennion Improvement District by calling 801-968-9081 or visiting www.tbid.org. Follow TBID on Facebook and Twitter.

Landfill Vouchers Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District offers Landfill Fee Waiver Vouchers at Taylorsville City Hall (2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd.) and the Taylorsville Library (4870 S. 2700 West). This offer is extended to residents within the service area who have the ability to haul their own truck or trailer loads to the landfill. Fill out a Landfill Voucher and head to the Salt Lake Valley Landfill to dispose of your items for free. Voucher users must still follow all landfill regulations and are only good for loads that are 4 feet by 8 feet (approximately the size of a pickup truck or pickup truck-sized trailer).

International Plastic Bag Free Day On July 3, Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District will join other organizations around the world in support of International Plastic Bag Free Day (plasticbagfreeday.org). There are a lot of good ways to celebrate, and the easiest requires a simple commitment by each individual. Even if just for one day, choose paper over plastic; or even better, bring your own bags to the retailers to pick up your goods. Some stores even offer discounts or other perks for the customers that bring their own.
