A message from...

Joe W. Lastinger Alliance President The Alliance was founded in 1996 by eight health plans as a for-profit venture designed to be a vehicle for collaborative innovation. Our mission hasn’t changed over our 20+ year history, but we have continued to grow and evolve. Today, we are owned by 26 health plans and support nearly 50 across the United States. Through the Alliance, provider-sponsored and independent health plans collaborate as one united entity, and each organization shares strategic expertise, operational efficiencies and innovation with their Alliance colleagues. Together, we are driving performance improvement, delivering exceptional service, transforming care, and championing health and wellbeing in our local markets with the power of a nationwide company. Thank you for your interest in supporting the Alliance. Your investments make a real difference in the success our member heath plans are able to achieve in the communities they serve all across the country.

How We Collaborate Our Learning Collaborative model keeps Alliance members connected

How will Learning Collaborative Program sponsors interact with Alliance member participants?

Alliance members don’t compete with one another, creating a nationwide network of health plan professionals that can collaborate together whenever, wherever, on any problem, big or small. Our virtual-first, Learning Collaborative model brings our members together to collaborate on timely issues in the format that best fits the unique needs of each stakeholder group.

The unique blend of collaborative elements allows program sponsors to engage with Alliance members in multiple learning formats over a sustained period of time, directly supporting your need to maintain and grow solid working relationships with health plan leaders. Whether you’re participating in an intimate workshop or providing thought leadership during a virtual poster session, you’ll find multiple opportunities to connect authentically with Learning Collaborative participants.

What are the elements of a “virtual-first” Learning Collaborative model? Each Learning Collaborative is handcrafted to meet the unique needs of the core peer groups it serves over an extended period of time. Elements we’ve successfully combined include: tailored, issue-specific webinar series; focused workshops with attendee homework; virtual summits featuring thought leadership and Alliance member case studies; Alliance member-led projects that produce work products to support their strategic priorities.

How can you be confident that Alliance members will participate in this “virtual-first” Learning Collaborative model? Alliance members have remained consistently connected since we pivoted to virtual-only in March 2020. While they miss in-person collaboration, there is much work to be done and their Alliance network remains a critical tool to solving problems, making decisions, and executing on strategic goals. Each of the elements included in our Learning Collaborative Programs have been piloted with and validated by our membership.

How long until you reinstate in-person meetings? True to our agile programming approach, the Alliance doesn’t plan an entire annual calendar of events all at once. We will continue developing programming on a rolling basis so that our Learning Collaborative model remains responsive. Our Dallasbased Alliance Learning Center stands ready when we do re-launch our Fly-Ins, and we eagerly anticipate hosting our 2021 Spring Leadership Forum at the Four Seasons in Las Colinas, TX.

How did you choose these Learning Collaborative program themes? We have stayed closely connected with our Alliance member health plan leadership teams. Executive round table discussions, individual team meetings with member organizations, one-on-one discussions and peer group round tables have all informed the targeted Learning Collaborative Programming we’re offering for the balance of 2020.

Call for Presentations The Alliance is always open to receiving submissions for presentations. Please submit the following requested information to Jaime González, jaime.gonzalez@ healthplanalliance.org. The Alliance leadership will review the information you provide and determine if your session aligns with the needs of our members and the best channel for your session. Please note that submission of a proposal does not guarantee that your organization will be selected to present at and/or participate in a specific Alliance event. Participation in any Alliance event or programming is by invitation only. • Session title and description • Three to five learning objectives • Speaker(s) name, title, credentials, phone number and email • If a representative from an Alliance member organization will be co-presenting, please provide their: name, company, title, email and phone number

What Our Members Value Most About The Alliance “The biggest benefit of the Alliance is the fact that you’re in a room of your peers who are all experiencing things very similar to you. It really is a place to bounce ideas off of each other and to hear what other plans are doing that you might not have thought about. Today is a great example. I’ve been in this meeting for two hours and I already have a list of ideas 15 things long.” Penny Ransom, Chief Administrative Officer Network Health

“We’re a small organization both geographically, as well as in numbers. Over the years that we’ve been a part of the Alliance, we’re able to reach out to the Alliance staff and we’re always able to find answers or solutions from other health plans’ experiences. What we experience on a very micro geographical level, the Alliance experiences at a national level and brings that to bear back on our particular situation where we happen to be – in north Georgia.” Mark Mixer, CEO Alliant Health Plans
