Guest Artist Yuuka Nakamura, Saxophone

With resident artist Pat Grimm, piano

A classical saxophonist from Tokyo, Japan, Nakamura has won prizes in international competitions and is a member of the Urban Saxophone Quartet in London, UK.

We commemorate the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing with a performance of Adolphus Hailstork’s “American Guernica.”

Other pieces include David Gillingham’s “Be Thou My Vision” and Ralph Vaughan Williams’s “English Folk Song Suite.”

Pro Arte Quartet

One of the world’s most distinguished string quartets, the ensemble performs throughout the United States, Europe and Asia and continues to champion equally standard repertoire and new music.
