Er sieht aus, als entstamme er einer Tullamore Dew oder Ketchup Werbung. Schwer gefördert durch seinen familiären Hintergrund, ist Junya direkt in die Trance Szene hineingeboren, ohne je etwas anderes als elektronische Musik gelebt zu haben: Er ist der psychedelische Eskimo.

Eskimo ist dein Solo Projekt. Was braucht ein Track, um ein Eskimo Track zu sein? Eskimo ist mein Versuch, meine Person in Musik umzusetzen. Mir geht‘s um Spaß und Comedy. Ich versuche, meine Musik so offen zu gestalten, dass die Leute sie so genießen können, wie auch immer sie es wollen; es braucht Geschwindigkeit zum Rocken und

eine Geschichte zum Zuhören. Ich verbringe eine Menge Zeit mit dem Editieren und Arrangieren und versuche die Leute mit diversen Tricks zu erreichen. Viele Musiker denken, dass es einer gewissen Ernsthaftigkeit bedürfe, um sich einen großen Namen aufzubauen. Dancefloor Musik sollte nicht ernst sein, denn ein Dancefloor ist in etwa der unernsteste Platz, den man sich denken kann, alles lacht, feixt und hat Spaß. Die Musik sollte das widerspiegeln. Viele deutsche Partyfreaks kennen dich von deinem Live Set auf der Voov Experience 2004. Du hattest einige technische Probleme. Was war los? Die Voov war in der Tat eine Experience für mich; ein wahnsinniges Festival. Ich hatte meine Soundkarte in Japan gekauft, die eine andere Voltzahl hatte, was diverse Male zum Absturz geführt hat. Es tat mir Leid für die Leute, die dauernd unterbrochen wurden, ich hoffe, dass ich das auf einer der nächsten

Voov Experiences mit einem zwei Stunden Nonstop-Set wieder gutmachen kann ... Du kommst nach deinen zwei Alben bisher nun mit einem dreifachen Schlag, »Balloonatic«. Warum drei Alben auf einmal, was ist das Konzept dahinter? Dieses Album ist mein bisher größtes Projekt, drei CDs in drei Teilen, alle unterschiedlich. Teil eins ist bereits draußen und zeigt, woher ich komme, es gibt vom Style her älteren Trance, Samples aus Rave, Funk, Rock und sogar HipHop. Teil zwei zeigt, wohin ich gehen will, weniger busy, kraftvoller und direkter, innovativer, offen und lebendig. Teil drei wird eine Eskimo vs. Compilation, die ich komplett mit den besten israelischen Acts mache. Die Leute sagen, es sei ein Risiko, drei CDs auf einmal zu bringen, aber ich denke, dass die Musik wirklich unterschiedlich ist und hoffe, dass ich das richtig gemacht hab‘. pics Kai Mathesdorf (3)

Gib‘ mal einen kurzen Link zu Junya, wer bist du? Ich bin 20 Jahre alt und habe das erste Mal in Tokio im Alter von elf Jahren aufgelegt. Mein Vater John ist der Gründer von Phantasm Records UK, so habe ich nahezu mein gesamtes Leben mit dem Hören vielfältiger elektronischer Musik verbracht. Vor dem Auflegen hatte ich bereits produziert, Old-Skool-Rave-artige Musik. Es war um 2000, als ich daran dachte, Trance zu produzieren. Es brauchte einige Monate, mich wieder einzuarbeiten. 2002 kamen die ersten Eskimo Tracks.

He looks like the guy from a Tullamore Dew or tomato ketchup spot. Influenced by his phantasmic family background, Junya is hot and enthusiastic, his energy is strong, his tracks are beloved. Born into electronic music and the Trance scene, he is one of the youngest Trance producers around: Eskimo Give a short link about the person Junya, please. I am 20 years old and played my first party in Tokyo when I was eleven. My father John Phantasm is founder of Phantasm Records UK, so I have been listening to electronic dance music almost all of my life with many different influences. I started making old skool Rave music before I was a DJ. It was only around 2000, when I started to think about producing Trance. It took me some months to get back in touch with the new software, in 2002 I launched Eskimo.

Older guys found their way into PsyTrance with a classical background from Rock or Soul to independent music, you were shot into the scene directly from kindergarten to party. What do you think, is such a solid base necessary for a true psychedelic flight or is it better to find it all at once on high speed? It‘s a good question but really this situation is not that different, I have been listening to music since I was about 8 to 9, I was not really into football or that shit. I remember going to festivals in UK with my parents. My biggest influence was The Prodigy. They changed the way I feel about dance music. So in a way I had those influence but just at younger age. Eskimo is your solo project. Try to explain, what does a track need to be an Eskimo track. And what is Jumanji about? Eskimo is an attempt for me to show my personality in music, I am all about having fun and comedy. It has the speed to rock and the drama to listen to and I spend a lot of time on editing and arranging my tracks and try to amaze people with the tricks. A lot of artists think to be a big name you need to be serious. Dance floors are the less serious place in the world. It‘s full of jokes, smiles and funny situations and the music should reflect that also.

Jumanji is a project from myself and Dick Trevor. We will be doing an album on Nano Records. But another project which I have you forgot to mention is Dynamo. This is myself and Shay from Israel, we have released one album called »The Acid Daze«. Lot of German people know Eskimo from the live set at Voov Experience 2004. You had some technical problems. What happened? The Voov was really an experience for me. It was an amazing festival. The problem was I bought my sound card in Japan with different voltage. Every time it got too heavy it would power down and I would have to restart. I appologise for all the people that were upset, I hope one of the next Voovs I will be there and rock for two hours non stop ... After the two albums you‘re coming up with a triple bang »Balloonatic« now. Why three albums at once? What‘s the story and the concept behind? This album is the biggest project I have done. It‘s three CDs released in three parts. Part 1 is out and this part is to show where I came from so the music has a lot from older styles of music and famous samples of rave, funk, rock & even hip hop. Part 2 is to show where I am going and where I want my music to go. It is a bit less busy but much more powerful and direct, is really inventive and has no rules to the music, completely open and alive. Part 3 will be Eskimo vs all the best acts that Israel has to offer. I can‘t say who is on the CD right now but it will be the best and the biggest. People told me that it is a risk to do three CDs of music from one artist that is why I have spent so much time to make sure the music on each CD is completely different to each other. Guy Shanti He‘s modest and knows his subject - so Guy Shanti is a truely untypical Trance guy ... A long awaited interview with one of the most interesting heads on the Israeli Trance scene - on the occasion of the debut of his prog project Aerospace. With your work for Isratrance.com you are one of the most important people on the Israeli scene, but nobody knows Guy Shanti. Please tell us about him. I think a few people do know me ... :) I am 33 years old, real name is Guy Youngman, the »Shanti« was an add on from Shahar - the founder of Isratrance - and no matter what I did I couldn‘t get rid of this nick name. I‘ve been doing music all my life, started listening to Trance music in 1995 and three years later I thought I knew enough about this music to start writing it. Little did I know what a long way it would be. In 1998 I also started DJing in Trance parties and things progressed from there. Currently I am djing almost every week and in recent years, a larger portion of my sets are of original material. You started producing music together with Dudu Atrash under the name of Evil Drug Lords. Now you come up with something really different, a progressive album from good old Israel. What‘s the idea of this? Why have you done such a change of style? Well ... life takes us all in diffrent directions and Dudu has started being more and more busy with his many different projects that I found my self writing alone alot. At some stage a name

change was necessary. But I disagree about the change of style thing - I have been doing (or trying to do) Progressive Trance ever since Atmos‘ »Headcleaner« has left me amazed, and that was in 1999 ..., but all the time I

have also been doing FullOn tracks. There came a point when anything over 140 bpm had become too fast. So I decided to seriously concentrate on writing progressive and try to create a unique style that combines elements of as many genres as possible on a proggy platform ... I think that in the past two years I have managed to do it. In which musical tradition do you see Aerospace? What‘s new, what‘s different? I see myself as a Jack of all trades in a way. As I said before, I used to do FullOn music so some of the spirit of that creeps into the tracks - you hear it in the breaks and build ups. Also I put a lot of emphasis on melody and harmony. And I try never to forget two things - it has to be fun and people have to dance to this .... After Cosma‘s dead the Israeli FullOn came up once again to perfect productions but loosing the heart. Where do you see the Israeli producer scene now? What developments do you expect in Psychedelic Trance in Israel? Avichen was a friend of mine. The influence that this man has on the musicians who are writing today is amazing. He could combine melody and strength better then anyone, and I draw a lot from his music. The world has lost a great musician ... FullOn as a genre is just about as dead as jungle music is today. I mean many people are making it but very few are managing to make it any interesting. Everything has been done; the music is so fast it is not so receptive to many outside influences. In Israel - the world‘s FullOn mecca - it can be felt. Three years ago the number of musicians that were doing Progressive Trance in Israel could be counted on one hand. Today we are a nice and growing bunch of people who are streching the envelope to some new directions, with new influences and pumping sound. Acts like Yotopia and Ace Ventura will be giants very soon, I hope me too ... ;)

Aerospace Guy Shanti ist bescheiden und weiß, wovon er spricht - und ist schon damit ein recht untypischer Trancer ... Ein Interview mit diesem Mann haben wir eigentlich schon viel zu lange aufgeschoben, er ist eine der interessantesten Persönlichkeiten der israelischen Trance Szene - anlässlich des Debüts seines progressiven Projekts Aerospace holen wir das nun nach. Mit deiner Arbeit für Isratrance.com bist du einer der großen Aktivposten der israelischen Szene, aber kaum jemand kennt Guy Shanti. Erzähl mal was über ihn ... Ich denke, einige wenige Menschen kennen mich schon ... ;-) Ich bin 33 Jahre alt, mein richtiger Name ist Guy Youngman, das »Shanti« war eine Erfindung von Shahar, dem Gründer von Isratrance, und egal was ich auch gemacht hab‘, diesen Spitznamen bin ich nie wieder losgeworden ... Mein ganzes Leben habe ich Musik gemacht, begann 1995 Trance zu hören und dachte drei Jahre später, genug über diese Musik zu wissen, um das Produzieren zu beginnen. Etwas naiv war das, es war ein ziemlich langer Weg. 1998 habe ich angefangen, auf Trance Partys aufzulegen, und alles begann sich zu entwickeln. Gegenwärtig spiele ich fast jedes Wochenende, und der größere Teil meines Sets ist originales Material. Mit dem Produzieren hast du zusammen mit Dudu Atrash als Evil Drug Lords stramm begonnen. Nun kommst du mit einem Progressive Album aus good old Israel. Was ist die Idee dahinter? In welcher musikalischen Tradition siehst du Aerospace? Was ist neu, was anders? Nun ... das Leben hat zahlreiche Überraschungen parat, und Dudu hatte mehr und mehr mit anderen Projekten zu tun, sodass ich mich immer häufiger allein im Studio sah. Irgendwann war ein Namenswechsel fällig. Es war 1999, als mich Atmos‘ »Headcleaner« umgehauen hat, und seitdem produziere ich auch progressiv - und versuche, einen einzigartigen Stil zu kreieren, der Elemente aus zahlreichen anderen Genres auf einer progressiven Plattform vereint. Ich sehe mich selbst in einer gewissen Weise als eine Art Verbindungsglied. So hat vieles aus dem Geist des FullOn Eingang in meine progressive Arbeit gefunden - man kann es in den Breaks und im gesamten Aufbau hören, ich habe zudem Melodie und

Harmonie eine besondere Betonung gegeben. Und ich versuche, zwei Dinge nie zu vergessen: es muss Spaß machen, und die Leute müssen dazu tanzen ... Nach Cosmas Tod fand der israelische FullOn noch einmal zu neuer Blüte in perfekten Produktionen, hat dabei aber sein Herz verloren. Wo siehst du die israelische Produzenten-Szene derzeit? Was erwartest du für eine Entwicklung? Avichen war mein Freund, ich wünschte für eine längere Zeit. Der Einfluss, den dieser Mensch noch immer auf die heutige Trance-Szene hat, ist unglaublich. Er konnte Melodie und Kraft kombinieren wie niemand sonst; mit seinem Tod hat die Welt einen großen Musiker verloren ... FullOn als Genre ist inzwischen etwa so tot wie Jungle. Viele Leute produzieren heute FullOn, aber nur ganz wenige schaffen es, die Geschichte tatsächlich weiterhin interessant zu halten. Alles, was technisch machbar ist, wurde gemacht. Die Musik ist einfach zu schnell, um andere Strömungen und musikalische Richtungen aufzunehmen. FullOn ist inzwischen mehr als ausgewalzt. In Israel, dem FullOn-Mekka dieses Planeten, kann man das spüren. Noch vor drei Jahren konnte man die progressiven Produzenten in Israel an einer Hand abzählen. Heute sind wir eine nette, ständig wachsende Menge an Leuten, die Trance in einige neue Richtungen bringen, mit neuen Einflüssen und pumpendem Sound. 2000 Wunderkinder dankten in Basel

Albert Hofmann »LSD – Sorgenkind und Wunderdroge«, das internationale Symposium zum 100.Geburtstag von Albert Hofmann war die einzigartige Gelegenheit, während eines dicht gedrängten Programmes neben vielen anderen Albert und die Shulgins zu treffen.

Den Entdecker des LSD erzählen zu hören, wie sich alles vor 63 Jahren zugetragen hat, sich über seine Vitalität zu freuen, gehörte sicher für alle zu den einprägsamsten Momenten des Kongresses, die größte fachübergreifende Tagung über Acid, die es je gab. 2000 Menschen aus der ganzen Welt kamen vom 13. bis 15. Januar nach Basel, wobei die meisten sicherlich zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt das Potenzial des LSD für sich erfahren hatten und kamen, um ihren Respekt zu zollen. Die Menge lauschte – nach Standing Ovations – ehrfurchtsvoll, als Albert zu Beginn und Ende des Symposiums sprach. Bestens kam der Gedanke an: Das LSD hätte ihn nie gefunden, wenn er damals hundertprozentig sauber gearbeitet hätte. Forscher aus den USA und Europa stellten viel versprechende Ergebnisse nicht nur alter, sondern auch neuerer psychedelischer Therapie- und Kognitionsforschung vor. Natürlich zu viel, um es hier alles wiederzugeben. Das Acid ist in Wirklichkeit leicht basisch, nicht sauer (Hasler). LSD sei verboten, weil psychedelische Erfahrungen gut sind (Doblin). Die ihm zugeschriebenen Wirkungen stünden für das Gegenteil von dem, was das System ausmacht (Amendt). Weithin amüsiert hörten wir, dass in schamanischen Kulturen der Doktor Drogen oder Medikamente selbst nimmt, um zu erfahren, worunter der Patient leidet (Metzner). So wie es auch der im Foyer ausgestellte Beipackzettel für Delysid empfiehlt (»Modellpsychose«), das war der Handelsname des LSD. Etwas weniger Rückschau auf die 60er hätte dem Ganzen sicher gut getan, lediglich Hans Cousto durfte über die elektronischen Szenen sprechen. Albert, der vom hedonistischen Gebrauch wenig hält, bedauerte, dass heute

keine gesellschaftlichen Räume existierten, in denen Psychedelika, »sakrale Drogen«, sinnvoll und sicher eingenommen werden können. Der Kongress tanzte Samstagabend als nach dem Akasha Project das Star Sounds OrAlbert Hofmann in a new chestra und schließlich painting by Alex Grey die Krautrock-Legenden Guru Guru spielten, jeweils begleitet von einem aufgekratzten Christian Rätsch. Der Aspekt Sorgenkind kam eher am Rande vor bei diesem psychedelisch-wissenschaftlich-künstlerischen Familientreffen. Insgesamt reichten die Vorstellungen von »es gibt kein Gebiet in der Medizin, in dem in den letzten 50 Jahren so wenig Fortschritt gemacht wurde« (Doblin) bis zu »die Prohibition ist ein viel zu profitables Unterfangen, um es jemals zu beenden« (Broeckers). Zu keinem Zeitpunkt ward vergessen, dass ein (Anti-Drogen) Angriffskrieg herrscht, in dem man schnell zum Gefangenen werden kann (Cousto) - manch‘ LSD-Konsument und -Hersteller, besonders in den USA, saß oder sitzt im Gefängnis. Genauso wenig blieb die Bedeutung der Garagenchemiker unerwähnt, versorgten sie doch die Welt der letzten 30 bis 40 Jahre ... Der Ausblick auf Wandel ist eher trüb, egal, wie gut die Argumente dafür wären, außer im Bereich Therapie und Forschung. Albert Hofmann unterzeichnete als erster eine Petition an EU, USA und die Schweiz, den Patienten eine Therapie mit LSD und anderen Substanzen nicht weiter vorzuenthalten, denen sie helfen würden. Vielleicht wird es die Aufgabe eines jeden Teilnehmers in Basel sein, das individuelle Wissen über Psychedelika wie LSD in eine Gesellschaft, die diesen gegenüber keineswegs aufgeschlossen ist, einfließen zu lassen und besonders an die heutigen (jungen) Konsumenten weiterzugeben, damit sie, wenn sie vom LSD gefunden werden, nicht zu Sorgenkindern werden, sondern zu Wunderkindern. Und wenn du dich fragst, ob Albert durch das Acid so fit so alt geworden ist: Er sagt dazu sehr kräftig NEIN! Vielleicht liege es daran, schmunzelte er, dass er sich jeden Morgen zwei rohe Eier ins Bircher Müsli quirlt ... Mehr auf www.mushroom-online.com

Standing ovations for Albert Hofmann ...

A tribute to Albert – 2000 wonder children tuned in

»LSD – Problem Child and Wonder Drug«, the international symposium on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Albert Hofmann was the unique opportunity to meet amongst many others Albert and the Shulgins during a tight three day programme. Approximately two thousand people from all over the world responded to the call, the overwhelming majority of which sure had experienced the potential of LSD at one time or another and thus came to show their respect for Albert. And to answer a question lots of people had: NO!!!, Albert said, his good health and high age were not caused by acid – rather by two raw eggs whisked into his Bircher müesli every morning for quite a long time now ... The crowd listened reverentially when Albert related his widely known first LSD encounters, at the beginning and near the end of this biggest interdisciplinary congress about acid – which non-chemistrist learned in fact is slightly alkaline. Promising results not only from past but also contemporary psychedelic therapy and cognition research were presented by scientists from the US and Europe. On the whole, the notions ranged from »there is no field in medicine where for the last 50 years less progress has been made« (Doblin) to »prohibition is way to profitable to be ever abandoned« (Broeckers). It was never forgotten that there is an aggressive war (on drugs) going on, in which becoming a POW is a constant danger (Cousto). And many a LSD user and producer formerly was or still is in prison, especially in the US. Neither remained the significance of the underground chemists unmentioned, who have supplied the world during the last 30-40 years. The outlook for change is quite dim, except maybe for therapeutical use and medical research. Albert was the first to sign a petitition to the US, EU and Swiss governments to allow this kind of use again. To be able to incorporate knowledge about psychedelics into a society very much opposed to them and to pass this knowledge on specifically to the (young) users of today may be the task of each and every one present at Basel congress so that those who receive the attention of LSD do not become problem children, but wonder children. German media artist Boris Hiesserer aka b.-Eden 123 edited a psychedelic encyclopaedia, published as an mp3 audio book in either one DVD or set of five CDs. Boris chose 63 important lectures and interviews, German and English, combined with samples and ambient sounds as well as some poetry and clips from the media, and uses material from the CIA and international radio archives. Mekkanikka Nicolas Oesch aka Mekkanikka (oder DJ Nikka) ist Schweizer. In den frühen Neunzigern wanderte er in die USA aus, weil er als Musiker und Künstler zu Hause keine Zukunft sah. 1999 auf dem Burning Man wurde er mit dem psychedelischen Virus infiziert, heute steht er als weltweit geachteter Artist kurz vor dem zweiten Album-Release. Mekkanikkas Debütalbum »Basic Tribal Pattern« 2003 auf Spirit Zone war sein internationaler Durchbruch, sein zweites Werk »Intoxicated« wird im April bei Planet Ben Records erwartet. Natürlich hat sich der Sound von Mekkanikka weiterentwickelt. Den technischen Errungenschaften angepasst, ist knackiger Full On mit fetten Bässen zu erwarten, immer noch uplifting und melodisch und mit Nighttime-Trance-Ausbrüchen. Nikka mag aber in keine SoundSchublade gesteckt werden. Musik sei ein sich ständig verändernder Prozess, sagt er. Sie soll einfach glücklich machen. Der Psy-Szene wünscht Nikka, dass sie lebhaft und beweglich bleibt und der verrückten Welt etwas Gutes entgegen setzt ...

Nicolas Oesch (aka Mekkanikka or DJ Nikka) was born in Switzerland and moved to California in the early 90‘s. He got infected with the psychedelic virus in the USA at Burning Man festival. Today he is a well known artist in this world‘s psychedelic community, about to release his second album »Intoxicated« on Japan based Planet B.E.N. Records. Time for a little talk.

You’ve lived in Switzerland, the USA and today you enjoy Spain. What caused this journey? Well, after growing up as a teenager in Switzerland I felt there was not much for me there. I always was attracted to music and unfortunately Switzerland is a good place to become a banker or a watch maker maybe. I decided to move to California in 1994. There I was shocked by how many people were playing instruments, drawing, painting, dancing ... it was very inspiring, nobody cares about their daily jobs but more about their happiness ... So the most worthy experience was to let go of old structures and build new ones, to feel anonymous and be free to do whatever I wanted to do.

Your debut album was released in 2003 on Spirit Zone. What can we expect from the second CD, do you want to categorize it? Well, I think that since 2003 already the technology has evolved a lot. I made my first album on Mac G3 (400 Mhz) with »Cubase 32«. Since then I switched to »Logic« and now have a bunch of new gear, so I definitely think my sound has evolved. The new album »Intoxicated« will be released on Planet B.E.N. Records around April. What to be expected is a more full on sound, fat and juicy basslines, still uplifting and melodic with incursion into more nightish sound like. It seems strange for me to try to categorize music. As artists did in the past and as artists will do in the future, they experiment with their art and it may take them to lot of different places ... being full on trance, dark psy, progressive, morning ... There’s plenty of space to experiment in all these areas, without having to keep a label stuck to your name. I hear lots of dark psytrance artists telling me they want to make more melodic morning sound, but they don’t really want to alter their name and same goes with more melodic/morning producers

Music makes me happy who want to experiment with darker sound. Personally, I try to do what makes me happy, and generally speaking music makes me happy. What do you expect in 2006 in psychedelic trance? Are there any changes you would like to see? Every musical genre has always evolved in one way or another, it is constantly changing. Music as an art is an organic thing that evolves on its own, like life it grows randomly, developing itself in many different ways, branching out to give birth to new species. Psychedelic trance is just a little chapter in the great book of human music, it is a result of all the different genres of music that humans have experimented with, throughout history, till nowadays ... blended into a highly potent mixture, it gives the psy trance we’re experiencing nowadays, this is only a beginning ... Do you want to give a message to the psy community? Well, looking at the state of the world these days I can only hope that on our side of things, we’ll make sure to keep things vibrant and alive, since we must balance a bit with the craziness of the world out there. Thanasis Emmanouilidis aka Thanasonic ist der Gründer des griechischen Webradios bassline.gr. Er hat selber auf vielen Partys in Griechenland aufgelegt und schraubt auch an eigenen Tracks, weiß also, was das geneigte PsyOhr hören möchte. Bassline ist ein nicht-kommerzielles Webradio mit drei Streams, Psy, Proggi und Chill. Und auch für schwächere Rechner geeignet, da der Stream zwar nur 32 kpbs benötigt, dank neuer ACC+ Technik aber fast in CD-Qualität sendet. Zudem gibt’s ein Forum, in dem sich die Leutz über die Mixe, über Events oder Gott und den Psy austauschen können. Die Zukunft sieht Thanasonic in einer Art AkademieEntwicklung des Psytrance, in weiterer Verästelung und Verfeinerung der Stile. Und sein Traum? Dass Web-Radios einmal das vorherrschende Medium sind und dass man dann auch bassline.gr und andere unterwegs im Auto hören kann. Resident im legendären Frankfurter Dorian Gray, Auftritte auf Maydays und Love Parades – Marc gehörte zu den frühen Techno-Größen und hatte seine größten und nachhaltigsten Erfolge als eine Hälfte des HitProjektes Jam & Spoon. Sad news: Marc Spoon has died in January in Berlin, famous DJ from the old days of German Techno and for sure one of its loudest protagonists. Marc also was one half of hit duo Jam & Spoon, controversial in his music as well as in his temper and sometimes behaviour. Marc was only 39 years old. (cla)

Nasos kombiniert in seinen Kunstwerken Handgezeichnetes, Fotografien, Kollagen und die Macht und Möglichkeiten modernster Computertechnik. In den letzten zwei Jahren hat Nasos viele Flyer designt, die Homepage für ein Radio auf Zypern gestaltet und für Labels wie Noise Poison Records, Parvati Mindwaves und Noize Conspiracy gearbeitet. Die Truth 2030A sind definitiv das Einsteigermodell, liefern aber sehr passable Technik in 15 Kilo schweren Bassreflexgehäusen. Diese Monitore haben eine 19 Mil-

limeter ferrofluid gekühlte Kalotte sowie eine 6,75 Zoll (Inch/“) große Polypropylen-Bassmembran, vom Bi-Amp mit satten 75 Watt Leistung beliefert, 35 Watt für die Höhen. Besonders gut ist der im Verstärker eingebaute High und Low Equalizer, der es zusammen mit der Room Compensation ermöglicht den Klang individuell auf den Raumcharakter einzustellen. Der Frequenzbereich der Anlage liegt zwischen 50 Hertz (Hz) und 21 Kilohertz (kHz), was vollkommen ausreichend ist. Anschlussmöglichkeiten für symmetrische und unsymmetrische XLR- und Klinke-Stecker runden die ganze Sache ab. Die Anlage liefert ein gutes Klangbild, hat angenehme, klare Mitten und Höhen, ist aber im Bassbereich zu wenig detailreich. Mir gefällt sie jedoch sehr gut, wird das Audiosignal doch weitestgehend gradlinig dargestellt. Das Stereobild jedoch wird nicht in der gänzlich möglichen Tiefe abgebildet, was gelegentlich erschwert hinter den Mix zu hören. Dennoch, für den kleinen Geldbeutel bekommt man hier etwas, das nicht zu schwach auf der Brust ist. Preis: 269 bis 320 Euro.

Syrincs M3-220

Die Syrincs M3-220 liegt in der preislichen Mitte, die 3,5 Kilogramm schweren aktiven Satelliten besitzen je zwei 4“-Papier-Membran-Tieftöner in d‘Appolito Anordnung sowie einen 1“-Tweeter für die hohen Frequenzen mit einer Leistung von 38 Watt. Der Subwoofer besteht aus einer 8“-Papier-Membran mit einer Leistung von 68 Watt bei einem Gewicht von stolzen 15,5 Kilo. Die Anlage ist vollaktiv, jede Komponente wird von einem eigenen Verstärker angetrieben. Das Netzteil für die Satelliten sitzt im Subwoofer; dieser übergibt das Signal per mitgelieferten 15pol-Kabeln und liefert dabei einen Frequenzbereich zwischen 39 Hz und 24 kHz (bei -10 Dezibel) sowie zwischen 45 Hz und19 kHz (-3 Dezibel). Ein wenig eingeschränkt stellen sich die Anschlussmöglichkeiten dar, benötigt man doch ein spezielles Kabel vom Hersteller. Die Anlage eignet sich zum Abhören und als Desktopsowie HiFi-Lautsprecher. Klanglich ist sie im Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis unschlagbar: super klare Höhen und starke, trockene, detaillierte Bässe schaffen ein SoundErlebnis der besonderen Art. Die Satelliten liefern einen eher zurückhaltenden Bass mit ultra klaren Höhen und Mitten, wobei der Subwoofer dann für Schub sorgt, so werden auch ultratiefe Frequenzen klar wiedergegeben, was eine wirkliche Beurteilung des Audiosignals ermöglicht. Ich war von der Tiefenstaffelung mehr als begeistert, eine Ortung des Signals war im Stereobild eindeutig möglich. Diese M3 sind mein klarer Favorit. Preis: 450 bis 550 Euro. Syrincs M3-220

The Syrincs system is a monster that makes big sound cheap. It consists of two satellites equip-

Each unit has its own amp and gives 38 Watts at the satellites and 65 Watts at the subwoofer while it deliveres the full frequency range from 39 Hertz to 24 Kilohertz (-10 Dezibel) respectivly 45 Hz to 19 kHz (-3 db). You can‘t expect more for that money as the sound is very good, dry beats in all details, clear highs and mids. The subwoofer really brings power into the mix – my favourite speakers.

February 11 / Bochum Die Eventmaschine Vibez hat eine neue dauerhafte Bleibe in ihrer Heimatstadt gefunden. Silvester wurde mit nahezu 1000 Freunden und Bekannten im Bochumer Planet angestoßen. Diese Fest war ein gelungener Einstand, die letzten Standortgefährder mussten dann am Montagmorgen endgültig vom Parkplatz verscheucht werden. March 4 / Hamburg Nach vier Jahren Pause naht nun das internationale Comeback der Amazone. In den letzten Jahren hat sich wieder einiges bei den Frauen in der Trance-Szene getan, sodass es Alpha an der Zeit fand, die Amazone wieder zu starten, vielleicht demnächst sogar als Tour. Sollte anfangs »das weibliche Element in der Musik« ganz allgemein rausgestellt werden, hatte sich die Party schnell auf allen Organisationsebenen zu einer rein weiblichen Veranstaltung entwickelt, von der Secu bis zum Flyer, von der DJane bis zur Bar, Deko, pipapo. New Years Eve in Thailand Greenspirit Festival (Thailand) • Imagine spending New Years Eve in beautiful Thailand not far from the beach, dancing with an international crowd for three days – that’s Greenspirit Festival near Ao Nang in Krabi province. The party with its relaxed crowd was THE place to escape from the usual madness in Koh Phangan’s Haadrin beach. Many came only for the festival or hopped over from Phangan or other places in Asia. For some of the 2000 dancers it was the first trance party ever and they surely got infected. Organizer Stephan, an expat from Switzerland living in Thailand with his wife Wanna for 18 years now, put lots of effort in presenting one of the big New Year psy events. After the tsunami last year the party couldn’t take place - but it will happen again 2006, Stephan promised, though Greenspirit didn’t cover all expenses this time. The beautifully decorated string-art main floor with central backdrop on stage by Amrisha was located in a shady rubber tree garden, surrounded by dense jungle. Someone got bitten by a snake near the camping ground close to the dance floor but wasn’t injured seriously as far as we know. Lots of people preferred to stay in guest houses near the party instead of building up a tent. Unfortunately climate change showed its effects also in

Also Gataka, Scotty and Sabaii Sabaii kicked the floor. The party ended on January 1st in harmony, Stephan likes to thank everybody who helped cleaning the area! If you’re heading for Southeast Asia next winter, start at Greenspirit and continue visiting the great islands around Krabi before you head further!

Regen in der ersten Nacht verwandelte den Floor leider in ein Schlammfeld, aber Stephan und sein Partner Michel organisierten eine trocknende Ladung Sand. 2000 Fraggles erfreuten sich auch am überraschend guten Soundsystem für den Riesen-Dancefloor, auf den locker noch einmal 2000 gepasst hätten. Greenspirit ist jedenfalls DIE Party um eine Tour durch Südostasien zu starten. Trotz leichter finanzieller Verluste soll es dieses Jahr wieder stattfinden. Nicht vergessen, all die traumhaften Inseln rund um Krabi Tom Rom zu besuchen!

More than a party Universo Paralello (Brazil) • The 6th Edition of the Universo Paralello was in the paradise setting of a beach in the Atlantic Rainforest. Billed as a »festival of arts and alternative culture« the UP was more than just a dance party. With two main sound systems, the massive dancefloor overlooking the sea and an alternative floor featuring excellent decoration that evolved throughout the event, the party also included an area which had health and safety advice, a communal kitchen, a multicultural area with workshops like arts, circus and juggling skills, group activities, a theatre, a multimedia area (how did they get an internet connection in the middle of nowhere?!) a kids area, a sports zone and one of the best things we’ve ever experienced at a festival: 24 hour toilet and shower cleaners

Onto the music, the first day warmed up with dub, chill and ambient on the alternative floor opened by event promoters Cami and Nathy with electro and progressive following as night fell and the main floor opening the next morning which powered through until 8 pm new years eve when the dance floor took a break for the new years celebrations ahead. With too many acts to possibly mention, all music was generally of a high standard with a mixture of full on and progressive trance mixed with electro music that made for a great mix. Killer sets we saw came from Sam Muira, Commercial Hippies, Dick Trevor, AMD, Tristan, Atmos (awesome), Antaro, Swarup, Pixel, Shane Gobi, Wrecked Machines and DNox. Flying high … Mountain Space Camp (Switzerland) • Once more, Mountain Space Camp took place around New Years Eve. The mission: Celebrating our passion for psychedelic music in the mountains’ unspoiled nature – at 2900 metres, nearly twice as high as last year. We travelled the last part by helicopter (no kidding:-) Our impressions at arrival were really overwhelming. We were surrounded by mountains exceedingt 4000 metres, a spanking glacier was only a few hundred meters away from alpine hut where we would stay for the next five days. The temperature was about –20 degrees Celsius, so we where very happy to get into the hut quickly that was warmed by a wood stove. We had an excellent time in (and out of ;) the hut – cooking, dancing in- and outdoors in the winter sun. We even took a long walk through the deep snow to the glacier. Good vibes only Psy Vibration (Switzerland) • Bekannterweise ist der süddeutsche Raum eher spärlich mit guten psychedelischen Veranstaltungen gesegnet. Um trotzdem in den Genuss zu kommen empfiehlt sich deshalb die Schweiz. Eine Zufallsentdeckung in der Goabase führte uns diesmal auf die Psy Vibration in der Nähe von Zürich. Und es hat sich definitiv gelohnt. Die Indoor-Location (Trümplerareal in Uster) war liebevoll dekoriert und bot zwei Dancefloors. Wir trafen viele bekannte Gesichter aus dem fantastischen Outdoor-Sommer der Schweiz wieder. Dem Züricher Raum werden ja oft sterile Partys nachgesagt, doch hier war Gegenteiliges der Fall: Ein durchweg sympathisches Publikum vergnügte sich auf den Floors zu fantastischen DJ-Sets von Fatali, Rumble Pack, Audiomatic, Paste und einigen anderen. Lucky us, we heard about the Psy Vibration event near Zürich, in lovely Switzerland. We accepted the long journey from southern Germany and weren’t disappointed at all. While some say, parties around Zürich are too cool, we found lots of warm atmosphere in a large indoor venue with lovely decoration. A likable audience enjoyed DJ sets by Fatali, Rumble Pack, AudiTuso omatic, Paste and many others.

Gregorz Magnuszewski ist bekannt als Teil von Tromesa und den BigWigs, mit seinem Solo-Projekt Kino Oko war der Pole schon immer für eigenwillige Kreationen gut. Auf diesem Album trägt er die volle Psychedelik seiner Soundforschung aus industriell knusprigen Bleeps und Blongs mit oldschooligen Tranceelementen zusammen. Fusions-Musik zum Vorzeigen, immer vielfacettig, psychedelisch relativiert und niemals platt; vom anspruchsvollen Tech-Trancisten über den elektroiden Proghouser bis hin zum Freund eingängiger Melodik dürfte diese stilistisch herausragende CD den unterschiedlichsten Nacht- und Tagaktivisten gefallen. Decoy »Not Responding To Light« (Dance‘n‘Dust) CD After some nice tracks on compilations in a nearly FREq-like style, down under project Decoy is ready to show their real skills: on Israeli prog label no. 1 they present their furious debut album. Checked funky tribal grooves, housey elements and crispiest sounds meet beautiful spheres and rich jazzy instrumentations like piano, bass and sax in a very, very entertaining way. The album runs between 134 and 140 bpm, mixed up with one of the strongest party tunes I ever have listened to: you will never forget »Pio Pio«. Nummer eins überraschend früh - doch mehr als zu recht - mit einem ganzen Album. Liefen Decoy bisher solide auf einer proggyknusprigen Schiene im FREq-Style, zeigt das Album nun weitere, herausragende Seiten. Zwingende Grooves mischen sich mit crispen Sounds, schönen Flächen, einer guten Portion House, funkigen Tribal-Arrangements und virtuos eingespielten Jazz-Elementen mit klassischen Instrumentierungen wie Klavier, Kontrabass und Saxophon. Das Ganze ist in Groove und Melodie immer wieder neu und extrem kurzweilig - und wird Decoys Ruf als Geheimtipp vollkommen vernichten ... Die Tracks laufen zwischen 134 und 140 Sachen, dazu kommt mit »Pio Pio« noch eine Granate von Track auf 142, die Campino auf Spanisch lehrt, was tote Hosen und lebendige Ärsche sind. Einige bekannte Künstler wie Zion, Mekkanikka, U-Recken oder DNA tummeln sich zwischen mir neuen Namen wie Loud, Profile oder Mahamudra und liefern ein in sich stimmiges Line up mit schönen Tracks. Dooflex is the sidelabel of Doof and focuses on more groove orientated and melodic parts of psytrance. Sweet melodic tracks contributed by well known artists such as Zion, Mekkanikka, U-Recken or DNA in between newcomers (to me) like Loud, Profile or Mahamudra. Never dominated by melodies but definitely for hot days this is a coherent line up every groover will be satisfied with. (Ilse)

Mir ist schon bei der ersten TIP.World Compilation nicht ganz klar gewesen, warum man ein neues Label gründet, aber dieselbe Musik veröffentlicht. So auch bei »Future Sound Masters«, die als Art Wettbewerb promotet wird, in dem du als Kunde deine Meinung online abgeben und so auf die Entscheidung über das nächste Artistalbum Einfluss nehmen kannst. Zweimal Manmademan, Biotonic und Sandman (!!!) stehen da wohl hoch im Kurs bei TIP. Hört selbst. »Twilight Zone« (Nexus Media) CD

Man kennt sie beide bereits gut. Aus Südafrika sind Slug und Shift und haben sich zu den Pitch Hikers zusammengetan. Auf »Twilight Zone« kann man High Tech Psytrance erwarten, wie man die beiden schon vom Stil her kennt. Durchweg mitreißende Melodien, aber auch feine Atmosphären, die einen dahintragen. Für mich ein Super Sommertool, aber auch in mancher Nacht auf dem richtigen Floor einsetzbar. »Colombia« ist sicherlich der herausragende Track. Slug and Shift from South Africa form this project and as expected they present a full album of high tech psytrance as we know it from this part of the world. On a high production level melodies and clear levitating atmospheres carry you away. A killer summer tool but definitely also working on the right nighttime floor with an outstanding track called »Colombia». (Ilse)

Frische Highend-Lizensierungen und exklusive Tracks der Usual Suspects finden sich auf dieser feinen progressiven Compilations aus Portugal: Ticon, Atmos, Beat Bizarre, Krüger & Coyle geben sich die Klinke mit zwei ziemlich dicken 80s Electro-Proggern von D-Nox. Das alles reicht für eine sehr gute Compi, doch der Bang zum Schluss: Ambient Grandmaster Solar Fields liefert die schönen Flächen und Modulationen für »Overload«, Anti den sich sanft unter die Haut schiebenden Groove für dieses elfminütige Epos mit nur 120 Sachen, ein Track wie aus den guten alten Zeiten, so schön wie nur Noma es konnte - oder Digweed in Humates »3.1«-Remix. Fresh licensing and exclusive work lead the usual suspects into a fine progressive com-

pilation from Portugal: Ticon, Atmos, Beat Bizarre, Krüger & Coyle and two electro prog burners by D-Nox already guarantee a top compilation. But the bang is in the end: ambient grandmaster Solar Fields is responsible for spheric and modulative parts in »Overload«, Anti for the fantastic slow groove, creeping deeply under your skin. Gerade erst mit seinem zweiten Soloalbum erschienen, beglückt Penta seine Fangemeinde mit einer wunderbaren Compilation auf Auraquake. Parus, Sector 7G und Ocelot bestreiten mit ihm selbst das Line Up. »Seismic Mood« geht treu den Weg, den Penta mit seinem unverkennbaren Stil vorgelegt hat. Ein wenig Tech, ´ne gehörige Portion Psy in hoher Qualität. Eine Super Scheibe. Short time after Penta delighted us with his second solo album he gives a wonderful compilation to the community. Tracks by himself as well as by Parus, Sector 7G and Ocelot build up a psychedelic atmosphere in typical Penta style, made from good piece of tech and a full bunch of psy on a high level. Nach dem Erfolg von »Hokus Peakus« stand der Nachfolger unter Druck. Favoriten auf dieser wirklich düstertrancigen Scheibe finden, die eher was zum Hören, denn zum Tanzen ist. Ich glaube jedoch, dass dies nicht jedem so leicht fallen wird wie mir. The girls from San Francisco sent their second compilation which rocks with some newcomers as well as with established artists. This disc is definitely hard and deeply psychedelic and may cause trauma in some brains. I found my favorites in Alien Mental as well a project of the ParaHalu guys called Mandrugorrah but have to mention this is not for cowards and more for braindelight than for dance floor use. (Ilse)

Ein alter Bekannter sagt »Hallo«, denn »Funny Noise« von Navot Uriel und Assaf Arzi aka Drugon hatten wir doch letztes Jahr schon auf unserer Trancers Guide CD. Hier nun endlich das komplette Album mit pumpenden 16-tel Bässen, die für den richtigen Schwung sorgen. Trotzdem ist jeder Track ein wenig anders, hier verspielte Melodien, dort wirre Sounds und letzten Endes doch alles wieder treibender FullOn Marke Israel. Old acquaintances say hello - »Funny Noise« by Navot Uriel and Assaf Arzi aka Drugon was released on last year‘s Trancers Guide compilation. Finally here they are with their album containing pumping kicks in a spheric atmosphere. Every track is a bit different, here some playful melodies and there some weird sound. And in the end they all together make a nice FullOn release (dlh)

Aus Israel kommen die beiden Shays, Shay Ben Haion und Shay Gannon und haben satten, treibenden Full On dabei, mit der richtigen Portion quitschig-knarziger Effekte. Gleich beim ersten Stück weiß man, wo es langeht, es schraubt sich höher und höer, um dann ekstatisch, aber immer freundlich lächelnd zu eskalieren. Schöne Tempiwechsel sowie nette Breaks. Auch den Groove lassen die beiden nicht missen, mir im Ganzen jedoch eine Spur zu melodiös. Shay Ben Haion and Shay Gannon from

Israel present a fat, groovy and driving full on package with the right dose of creeks and squeaks. From the beginning thre‘S no doubt about their mission: increasing the atmosphere to culminate ecstatically. Nice breaks kicking me as well as deep grooves. Rousing melodies, a bit too much for my taste, and the significant artist name make all in all a very nice album for full on lovers. (Ilse)

»Reflexion« (Mental Arts) CD

Mental Arts, das Kölner Label von DJ Joyrider kommt immer wieder mit höchst netten neuen Acts aus der Schublade, diesmal sind es zwei in Hamburg lebende Polen namens Aga und Waldek Biskup, die gleich ein ganzes Album angenehm fließender, tribaliger Progressiver Trance Tracks mit einer schönen Neigung zum housigen Instrumentieren am Start haben. Das Album ist wirklich angenehm und smooth, ein volle Dosis stressfreier Musik für in Würde erwachsene Menschen - für zuhaus, im Auto oder auch im Club, oder für die seltenen Momente angemessen beschallter Open Air Floors. Wenn denn vielleicht aber doch noch etwas fehlen sollte, dann wäre es die große Peak. In seiner entspannenden Schönheit kann »Reflexion« auch spielend an einem vorbei fließen. Igal and Roman also known as Brisker & Magitman with a more progressive approach, demonstrate their definition of FullOn in this album. Rolling, warm basslines, in the first track with a weird guitar melody guide us from the first moment on into a land where funky bouncing kicks live in unison with twisted acidlines. »The Legend Remixes« (Turbo Trance) CD

Gemäß dem Titel versuchte ich, die Legenden zu finden. Sicher, es sind mindestens zwei hervorragende Titel darauf. Eat Static, wer auch sonst, haben am »Motion Detector» gebastelt und ihm den typischen Touch gegeben, den ein Stück von ihnen benötigt. System 7 spielt mit »Feeler« und gefällt mir sehr, auch Polaris überzeugt. Anspruchsvolle Scheibe, mit Remixen von Triptych, Tristan, Hallucinogen oder Silicon Sound, dennoch, finde ich, für legendäre Tracks fehlt noch was. Some of the most famous artists dared to remix Manmademan and in my opinion just two tracks deserve to be released under this title. So I point on Eat Static, who else, who put their own touch into »Motion Detector«, while System 7 did a great job on »Feeler«, a very nice goodie. A pretentious disc filled with star remixes by Hallucinogen, Tristan or Triptych. Nevertheless, I am still looking for the legendary touch, even if there are those two outstanding tracks on it. Der introvertierte Russe, der für mich schon eine Legende darstellt, überzeugt auch in seiner Solorolle als Psykovsky. Ein tiefenpsychedelisches Erlebnis in acht Akten, das Goethes »Erlkönig« gewidmet ist. Ich kann nur empfehlen: Kopfhörer aufsetzen und mitreißen lassen in monumentale, morbide Welten eines Soundtüftlers, der es versteht mich effektiv zu trippen. »Shamanic State« V.A. (AP Records) CD

Bei AP Records geht man weiterhin den erfolgreichen Weg mit Künstlern aus Südamerika. Zu Beginn dachte ich noch, dass es sich mal um ein Ambient Album handelt, aber nach dem rund vierminütigen Intro bekommen Blue Lunar Monkey noch die Kurve und morphen sich zum Trance, das Leichte, Schwebende wird dabei aber beibehalten. Wobei der Sound, wie oftmals bei Künstlern aus diesen Breitengraden, etwas hölzern und

rau, aber mit eigenem Charme, nach ordentlicher Handarbeit klingt. Irgendwie hat man das Gefühl, dass es hier mal so gar nicht um den großen Hit oder darum geht, in irgendwelche Charts zu kommen. Hier wird einfach nach Lust und Laune Sound für nächtliche Tanzexzesse am Strand, zumindest draußen, gemacht. Wer es psychedelisch hart, aber nicht dunkel und düster mag, ist hier richtig. AP Reocords continue on their effective way with artists from South Amerika. After a nearly four minutes ambient intro, the dance journey starts. It‘s often with acts from this latitude, that their music sounds ligneous and rough, a little handmade. These guys want to make good, positive music for nightly dance experience, and they succeed. Nach der ersten Compilation auf Spin Twist nutzt man die neue Plattform natürlich sofort weiter und kommt im ganz frischen Jahr schon mit einem neuen Album von Vaishiyas. Das Debütalbum erschien anno 02 bei Jum Jam, die Zeit seitdem wurde genutzt, um neun Tracks für das neue Album zu produzieren. Der Sound ist norddeutsch zwischen Psy und Progressive Trance und zwischen 136 und 142 bpm. Nahezu alle Tracks bauen sich langsam auf, Voices und Samples sorgen für Atmosphäre, crispy Sounds sowie einige nette Ideen und Groovewechsel machen dieses Release für DJs und Freunde norddeutschen Sounds interessant. Namlook, der sich schon in den 90ern mit einzigartigem elektronischen Spacesound einen Namen machte und mit einigen anderen namhaften Künstlern veröffentlichte, hat mit Gaudi im Metatron Studio in London eine Spitzenproduktion hingelegt. Zusammen mit Dor Kelman, dem Tablaspieler, dem Dub von Gaudi und den elektronischen Sphären von Namlook enstand eine wundervolle Kombination aus Groove und verträumten Melodien. A collaboration perfectly fit seems to be the duo Namlook and Gaudi, as proven in this fresh release. Namlook influenced electronic ambient heavily since early in the 90’s and released a lot of sound, every now and then working with other interesting artists. Gaudi, Italian composer and producer now based in London is known for his own dubby styled organic sound. »Re:sonate« is a work of passionate precision. Pete Namlook & Richie Hawtin »From within 3« (Ambient World) CD Der dritte Teil der Serie der elektronischen Klangmeister ist eine neue Auflage des bereits im Jahr 2000 erschienenen Albums. Richie Hawtin, auch bekannt als Plastikman, kreierte zusammen mit Pete Namlook eine völlig losgelöste und verspielte Musik. Ein unbedingtes Muss für Liebhaber des Elektroambient. The third part of the elelectronic music masters‘ piece of art is a re-release from the Fax record label - now on Ambient world, one of the sublabels. So it is possible again to purchase one of the most sought ambient recordings. It‘s a combination of melodies, atmosperic sounds and digital synthesis. Richie Hawtin, best know Canadian producer aka Plastikman, with Pete Namlook created a totally detached harmonic music. A must have for electronic ambient lovers. (rak)

»Chillogramm« V.A. (Peak Records) CD Master Margherita aus der Schweiz hat diese Compilation für zusammengestellt und heraus kam erneut eine wunderschöne Sammlung von erstklassigem Ambient. Deep und sphärisch, zum Teil durchsetzt mit gebreakten Beats und gespickt mit ein paar echt shpongeligen Leckerbissen. Peak Records unterstreicht damit einmal mehr, dass sie auch bei ruhiger Musik eine feste Größe sind. Master Margherita from Switzerland compiled this CD and what we got is another milestone for every chillout head. Deep and atmosphericly enriched with break beats, spiced up with some real shpongled sounds. Once again Peak Records show that they are a good address in ambient too. (dlh)

New DVDs »Hit & Run Worldtour Part 1« Skazi (Chemical Crew) DVD So stelle ich mir das Video eines Superstars vor. Es werden die Punkte auf der Weltkarte makiert und ich kann mich des Eindrucks nicht erwehren, so was habe ich schon mal gesehen. Sieht aus wie auf einem Rockkonzert mit Zaun vor der Bühne. Auf jeden Fall haben die Jungs mächtig Spaß und machen keinen Hehl aus ihrem Hang zu Frauen. Zwei Songvideos sind noch extra mit an Bord. Skazifans schlagen zu ! This looks like a video by some rockstar, showing on map of the world where Skazi have played so far. You see barriers in front of the stage and thousands shouting, I have a strong feeling that I saw this before. Irgendwie ist diese Full On Compilation in der letzten Ausgabe unter den Tisch gefallen, das hat sie allerdings wirklich nicht verdient. Für Freunde des Full On ist dieses Release sehr interessant. Talamasca macht den Auftakt und erinnert dabei sehr stark an Astral Projection. Ganz anders hingegen, mit dezenten Melodien und uplifting Full On erst zum Ende, kommen Silicon Sound, und XSI überzeugt mit einem dicken, treibenden uplifting Track für morgens und nachts. Ebenfalls satt und treibend, aber mehr psychedelisch verspielt ist der Track von Shagma, ein weiterer Anspieltipp. Es warten aber auch halsbrecherische Acidabfahrten oder Bildungsreisen in ferne Länder darauf entdeckt zu werden. Shpongle mit einem der dreizehn Kristall-Schädel hab ich allerdings noch nie zuvor gesehen, auch seine Sängerinnen können Auge und Ohr erfreuen.

»Forza« (AP Records) EP

Auch der Act dieser Viertrack-EP auf AP stammt aus Lateinamerika, Octavio Rojas alias Forza, einer der bekanntesten Acts in Mexiko. Vier Tracks sind in Zusammenarbeit mit guten Bekannten entstanden, dreimal progressiver, einmal Full On Trance. Mit Smugh entstand die A-Seite, Track 1 ist treibender, trancig-psychedelischer Morning Sound, überraschender ist aber der nächste Track. Druckvoller 135 bpm Schub, der sich langsam und atmosphärisch aufbaut und einen dabei tief in seinen Bann zieht. B1 ist tribal, und zu Beginn mit etwas nerviger Orgelei verziert, wird aber nach dem Break empfehlenswert. Zum Abschluss gibt’s noch eine verspielte Full On Abfahrt auf sattem Groove. Forza is Octavio Rojas from Mexico City. This EP‘s four tracks were produced in collaboration with some well know acts. Wwith Smug he produced the A Side, Track 1 a driven trance-psy morning tune, the next one is more pumping, slowly building up to 135 bpm which takes some time in a nice way. B1 is more tribal with its peak after the break. B2 produced with Lamat is pumping Full On fit for day or night time. (Tulla)
