Newsletter for our First Learning Teaching Training in Cyprus February 4th to 10th 2018


Monday 5th February 2018 Monday morning we woke up at 7.00 am. We took our breakfast at the hotel after eating we took the bus to go to the vocational school of our partners. We were all excited it was the first time we were going to see our friends from the different countries. After we arrived the director welcome us and the teachers of the school met us. The director presented all the professional sections and we visited the school. It was interesting to see the school and the different workshops. They have digital systems and electricity like us in France and they learn how to make jewels and gardening and cooking. The coordinator from Cyprus presented the timetable of the week and then we did an icebreaking activity. It was fun. After that at 12.00 we came to the catering section where the students prepared a typical meal and showed their skills. The lunch was delicious and we had a lot to eat. After lunch each team did the presentation about their schools. It was difficult to speak in English in front an audience because we weren’t used to it. We also presented our countries, cities, regions. It was nice. Then we worked in international teams to make the summary of the day. At 5:00 pm, we took the bus to the hotel and had some free time. The French went to the beach and the Portuguese stayed at the hotel.


In the evening we had a meeting and then went to the restaurant where we did a surprise party to Henrinque for his 16th birthday. Written by Ricardo, Pricilla Tuesday 6th February We woke up at 7:00 am and we had breakfast. At 9:00 am we had a meeting in the hotel lobby to finish the activity of writing and we presented what we wrote to make a good one. We also had a presentation of the activities on Twinspace. At 11:00 am, our friends from Cyprus met us and they took us to the old town of Limassol. So we could increase a little more of our culture and our knowledge about Cyprus. We had the opportunity to visit some of the most emblematic monuments. We first started visiting the old city and we knew a little more of its history, such as the meaning of the different statues. We visited inside the Cathedral, decorations were splendid. Secondly, we visited the Limassol Castle, and were able to admire an exhibition. Then we went to lunch at around 1:00 p.m. in the restaurant la Boca. We had pizza. Soon after we had a full stomach, some international teams were created by the teachers. They told us the rules of the treasure hunt. We had to answer questions, take photos and visit some places. We went to the castle museum to look for the ancient Cyprus history and we had to quote


the names of trees inside the castle garden, the next stop was the museum behind the castle which is for the production of Carob and Cyprus economic. After that we made our way to the church where we had to find a statue. We also took a group photo in front of the church after that we finished the treasure hunt and we made our way to Marina of Limassol to meet our teachers. After a bit of resting we returned to the hotel. On the way we savored an ice cream and talked to each other, we also had the opportunity to take some beautiful photos by the Mediterranean Sea. When we got to the hotel we went to prepare ourselves for dinner. After dinner, we were able to hang out a little bit in the hotel's garden. Wednesday 7th February 2018 We woke up and we had breakfast to be ready by 9:30 to go to school. At school we saw the result of the treasure hunt. We work on the IT programme, the teachers explained to us what programme we were going to use and how we must do it. We


had also a presentation of our social media that we are going to use for our projects. We had to fill a questionnaire on the culture of our three countries. We learnt some new information. For the lunch we ate some specialties from Cyprus, it was different cakes, there were very very good. After we had a break. We went back into the classroom to work on etwinning and our logo. We discovered the best logos and we voted for the one which is our logo for the whole project. It was one logo from Cyprus which won. At the end of the afternoon we stopped working and we walked around the school it was cool. We took a lot of funny pictures. For the dinner we ate food prepared by the students of the school. It was very good and the students were very cool with us. And after we went back to the hotel. It was a very pleasant and educational day, we learned a lot about the culture and life of the different countries of this project. Written by Persilia, Bruno, Henrique, Andre

Thursday 8th February 2018 Thursday was a very interesting day; we spent the day out of Limassol. We went to the ruins of Kourion, we saw the mosaic of Paphos. We tried to see how the keep all their stock in the


museum. On the way we stopped at Aphrodite’ birth place. It was very nice and we took some photos. We visited the castle of Paphos. We went inside and from the top we had a marvelous view of the city and its surroundings. We had lunch

in a coffee shop on the marina. Then we came back to the hotel. In the late afternoon we attended the arrival of the king's city and the queen of the carnival. It was opening of the carnival which was going to last for a month. It is a very large party and the Cypriots celebrated it with great joy in music, dances and fireworks. it was soooo beautiful.

The best was to arrive, in the evening we went to dinner to a great and typical restaurant – taverna frossus. There we could taste the different specialities of Cypriot cuisine. We had more than twenty dishes. All were


delicious but hard to eat everything. It was a very pleasant evening in which we can spend more time with the different participants of this project because it was already Thursday! Written by Soraia Moreira , Anthony Mirta, , Marios

Friday 9th February 2018 Friday we woke up at 8h00 to go the vocational school. We had an English lesson with our friends. After we enjoyed to work on I.T room to finish the summary of the week. We worked in international teams and then everyone present and we wrote texts which summarized our week.

We

also

decided

what

activities needed to be done before the next meeting in France and we split the work. Cyprus would have to take care of the finalization of the IT programme; Portugal about the website; France the Twinspace.


We had lunch at 1:00pm and after we did a ceremony to finish this week. We did the evaluation of the week. We received certificates and we tasted

sweets and biscuits from each country to say goodbye. It was a fantastic week. We couldn’t imagine that the week went so fast. We went to town to do some shopping and in the evening we packed our bags because our planes were very early. Written by Ricardo, Antonin, Anthony
