WE’RE PROUD TO SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS AND INITIATIVES THAT GET RESULTS!
Which is why we’re happy to partner with Mundelein Park & Recreation District.
Dear Residents,
Summer is just around the corner, and the District is gearing up to bring you plenty of fun in the sun! From the reopening of Barefoot Bay and the return of our popular camps and outdoor programs, to exciting events like the Beach Bash, Freedom Classic, Margaritaville, Doggy Dip, Concert Series, Community Days, and so much more — there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Studies continue to highlight the many benefits of spending time outdoors and staying active, and with our beautiful parks as your backdrop, there’s no better time to get outside and make the most of the season!
We are excited with the Phase 1 renovations of the Health & Fitness Center. These improvements included:
• New activity-specific flooring throughout the spaces to promote accessibility, improve user experience, and diminish sound associated with equipment impact on the floor
• New layout benefiting both the strength & cardio areas
• New equipment to promote a diverse selection of movements/activities and support a range of users
• Visual improvements including new paint and updated appearance
Phases 2 and 3 will feature a refresh of the women and men's locker rooms and specific selectorized equipment.
Come check out the Phase 1 updates at the Fitness Center Open House, April 21 .
As the weather warms up, the Kracklauer Park All-Inclusive Space Project will resume with an estimated opening by end of May. Also, the District will be adding an exterior bathroom to the Dance Studio and turning the tennis court into four lighted Pickleball Courts.
The Diamond Lake Master Plan continues to be on schedule, and we look forward to our community input sessions with concepts. Stay tuned on dates.
Mundelein Parks Foundation is hosting their 2nd Annual Meat Raffle Fundraiser on Sunday, April 27. The raffle will be held at Crossroads Restaurant and Bar at 1021 IL-83 in Mundelein from 1–5 pm. Three bags of meat will be raffled every 20 minutes. Thank you to Kilcoy Global Foods and Prime Beef, Ltd. for their generous meat donations and to Crossroads Restaurant and Bar for providing the venue for the fundraiser. The Foundation will also be holding the Lucky Duck Race fundraiser at Barefoot Bay on June 8. These fundraisers will raise funds for program scholarships, land and facility preservation, capital development, and the Mundelein Heritage Museum.
We’re looking forward to a season filled with sunshine, community, and memorable experiences for all. Thank you for your continued support as we work to enhance our parks, programs, and facilities. Be sure to stay connected with us for updates, and we hope to see you out and about this summer!
Our Mission Mundelein Park & Recreation District is committed to connecting the community with safe and quality recreation through diverse programs, facilities and open space.

Visit two of North Central Illinois’ most unique attractions, the Westclox Museum, the LaSalle Canal Boar, and the Lock 16 Visitor’s Center in LaSalle, IL. The Lock 16 Visitor's Center features exhibits and multimedia about the historic Illinois and Michigan Canal. The Canal, a 96-mile hand-dug waterway, connected the Illinois River with Lake Michigan and opened in 1848. Next attend a Mule Tending 101 class where you will learn about the care and feeding of Larry & Mo, the mules who pull the LaSalle Canal boat, plus a little history of these animals on the I & M Canal during the 19th century. Then enjoy a boat ride on the replica 1800s canal boat pulled by the mules we learned about on the I & M Canal. On this relaxing ride, guides dressed in canal-era uniforms tell the story of how the Canal changed Illinois history. A great lunch is planned at the Lock 16 Café. Registration Deadline: May 14

Lake Geneva's Black Pointe Estate & Pier 290 (Ages 50+)
Follow in the footsteps of wealthy Chicagoans such as Wrigley, Schwinn and Maytag to what was once known as the "Newport of the West", Lake Geneva, WI. Step back in time to the Lake's gilded age of the 1890s as we visit one of the area's most decadent Queen Anne Mansions, Black Point Estate, a summer home built for Chicago beer baron Conrad Seipp. You'll marvel at this stately mansion featuring thirteen exquisite bedrooms, a four-story "crow's nest" observation tower and 620 feet of pristine Lake Geneva shoreline, surrounded by forest. See the amazing grand piano and gold-encrusted blotter and inkwell. Hear the stories about the family and how the raising of the American flag was a daily ritual as a symbol of Seipp's American dream fulfilled. Later we'll drive around the lake to Williams Bay for lunch at Pier 290, Lake Geneva's only lakeside restaurant. Pier 290 is designed to capture lake views from nearly every vantage point in the dining room. The decor includes many antique nautical pieces and fixtures from the Lake Geneva region. After lunch, enjoy some time in downtown lake Geneva for a leisurely stroll along the lake or to shop in the quaint boutique. Registration Deadline: August 11,

Safety is a Priority: MPRD recognizes that safety is a top priority to all who visit our parks and facilities. We place an emphasis on safety to ensure that you, as park and facility patrons, have a safe, fun experience.
To ensure your parks and facilities are as safe as possible, we need your help. If you see or hear about something that may be unsafe, i.e. broken playground equipment, graffiti, an animal hole by an athletic field, or anything else that you feel may be hazardous, please call us at 847.566.0650.
Insurance: MPRD is unable to assume responsibility for injuries or accidents occurring at programs, activities, parks and facilities. Carrying medical insurance for participants would make the program user fees prohibitive.
Photo Policy: Photos and video footage are periodically taken of people participating in an agency activity or event or visiting agency facilities or property. Please be aware that by participating in an activity, attending an event, or visiting agency facilities or property, you authorize the agency to use these photos and video footage in agency publications, advertising, marketing materials, brochures, event flyers, social media (including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Linkedin, and other social media sites operated by the agency), and the agency’s website without additional prior notice or permission and without any compensation to you. Members who chose to utilize the childcare center at Health & Fitness Center consent to video surveillance system and abide by the terms of use. All photos and videos taken on Park District properties or at Park District events are for Park District use and become its sole property.
Oops! Occasionally, there may be an error that appears in print or online regarding days, times, requirements, fees or other information. When such errors occur, we will do everything possible to correct the situation promptly.
Residents/Nonresidents: The term resident refers to Park District residents who live within Mundelein Park & Recreation District boundaries and who contribute financial support to the Park District through property taxes. Some residents with a Mundelein mailing address may not be residents of the Park District. Please contact the Guest Services Desk at 847.566.0650 if you need residency information.
The nonresident fee structure is in place to ensure fairness to our residents. Residents of the Park District contribute financial support to the District through property taxes. The Board of Commissioners has elected the nonresident fee structure to make nonresident use of our programs and facilities equitable to our residents. “NR” means nonresident.
Family: A family is defined as no more than two adults and their unmarried children, up to age 21, residing within the same household, full time. Children ages 22 years and older, other relatives and/or individuals in the same household, are not included in this definition.
