giving back Giving back with unstoppable determination. That’s Lynn Goldman. A woman who knows how to pay it forward, Lynn has been chairman of the committee to build the Doylestown Bike and Hike System since its origination in 1992. Then the unthinkable happened: Her niece was killed while bicycling.
T
his motivated Lynn to steer the committee toward more safety on the Doylestown Bike and Hike System, consisting of over 20 miles of trails. Lynn’s degree in horticulture from The Barnes Foundation was instrumental in creating a tribute garden to her niece in Burpee Park. Serving as board chair to this day, Lynn helped develop the bike path on the Parkway, and with the support of the Bucks County Park System, she is looking to extend the trail to Peace Valley.
Owner of PUCK, (a live music venue in Doylestown), and wife of William L. Goldman, Jr. of Goldman Law Offices, Lynn thrives on getting things done and connecting people. She serves on the board of the Doylestown Hospital Authority and was instrumental in building the community gardens, an open space park for apartment dwellers. The Goldmans also provided space and were part of creating Star Garden and Manion Way Tile Garden, a place of reflection to honor veterans. Lynn was very active in saving the Borough Dam, chaired Doylestown Borough’s First Night Celebration in 2000, was co-chair of the Doylestown Bicentennial, and is very involved in community fundraising events at PUCK. “It’s in me to give back. I’m so appreciative of the town and the people,” remarks Goldman. “I consider it my responsibility; I’ve been able to raise my children here and it’s a way of saying thank you.”
With a smile and a deep commitment to serving, Lynn says, “All my projects are personal; they add value to the quality of life in the borough. They have a beginning and an end. I see them through, pause, then wait for the next one to show itself.”
