Ray Micciche grew up in a household where cars played an important role in the life of his dad and his Uncle Peter. “My dad didn’t restore cars,” said Micciche, “but he was always puttering around with them. My uncle was the one who got me interested in car restoration, and in 1974 I restored my first car, a 1967 Oldsmobile convertible. I have had at least 28 cars over the years. Annual event celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King By Patricia Villani
For the past 29 years the Salisbury High School Association has sponsored a youth activity event for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday where young and old come together and celebrate through prayer, song, bible and poetry readings, youth praise dances and choirs, vignettes and comradery. This year a group of about 800 young people, parents, teachers and sponsors came from all over the Delmarva area to participate in, “Be Determined to Live the Dream,” at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center. Free bus transportation was provided for participants. The day began with a morning prayer and breakfast. Jaenell Downes, a member of the Salisbury High School Association for the past 25 years and caterer for the event, had this to say: “It’s a pleasure to see this kind of event grow from around 200 students when we started years ago to more than 800 Continued on page 10
