Boys and Girls Clubs benefit from work of nonprofit organization

Young people in the greater Laurel area will benefit from the charitable efforts of a Laurel philanthropist and a host of golf enthusiasts. Last year, two major charity events

were held to raise money for the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club at Laurel. The events were part of Johnny Janosik Charity Events, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization formed in honor of local businessman and philan-

thropist Johnny Janosik. In May, a gala dinner was held at the Laurel Fire Hall and in September, the annual Johnny Janosik Charity Golf Tournament was held at Heritage

town manager Bill Fasano announced a proposal for the town to purchase a familiar piece of property and develop it as an aesthetically pleasing entrance to the town. Purchase price of the property is $68,000. The property, fenced in by concertina barbed wire, is an approximately 1/4-acre parcel located at the intersection of Five Points, along Central

Avenue. It has been used traditionally for the storage of automobiles. Fasano told the council that Laurel’s 2004 Comprehensive Land Use Plan includes “the framework and visualization” for the use of property, including as a “gateway” that would spotlight where Laurel “begins and ends.” Fasano said the Five Points inter-
