The Evolution of Celina's Historic Downtown Square:

A Place of Community and Progress

The City of Celina is excited to announce plans for the highly-anticipated Downtown Center, a transformative development poised to redefine the City’s historic Downtown.

This ambitious project will not only address the need for expanded parking but also provide a state-of-the-art home for City operations, including a multifloor library and rooftop community space, setting the stage for a new era of growth and engagement.

The first phase of the 115,245-squarefoot Downtown Center project begins with the construction of a 25,202-squarefoot, four-story parking garage featuring nearly 400 parking spaces. This significant expansion will alleviate

parking challenges in the area, catering to residents and visitors.

Designed to complement the charm of Celina’s historic Downtown, the garage will feature a masonry exterior that blends harmoniously with the surrounding architecture, preserving the area's aesthetic character.

One of the garage's most striking elements will be an elevator lobby, which aligns directly with the atrium of the forthcoming Downtown Center. This visual and structural connection underscores the City’s cohesive vision for its evolving Downtown and will serve as a bridge between the parking facility and the future City hub.

The Downtown Center, which will break ground following the completion of the parking garage, will be an expansive facility housing City administrative offices, providing a centralized location for essential City services. The building will also feature a 26,209-square-foot library, a substantial upgrade from the current 2,400-square-foot facility. The multi-level library will offer a wealth of resources, including ample public seating, computer access, and space for community programming, positioning it as a cornerstone for education and engagement in Celina.

The inclusion of a rooftop community space will further enhance the Downtown Center. This area is envisioned as a vibrant gathering place where residents

can enjoy panoramic views of the City while participating in public events, activities, and social engagements. The revitalized surrounding alley will also be transformed into a garden-like space, fostering a dynamic environment for community gatherings and enhancing the vibrancy of Downtown Celina.

“The new parking garage and Downtown Center are critical components of our longterm vision for Downtown Celina. Together, these facilities will meet the needs of our rapidly growing community and create a thriving activity hub where residents and visitors can connect, engage, and contribute to the City’s future,” said Celina Mayor Ryan Tubbs.

“Our Downtown area is continually evolving to meet the needs of our growing community. This project is a testament to our commitment to thoughtful, strategic development that enhances the character of Celina while creating new opportunities and visitors to connect and engage in the heart of the City,” said Celina City Manager Robert Ranc.

Swinerton, a national leader in general contracting, has been selected to oversee the construction of this landmark project. Tyler Whittaker, Dallas Division Manager and Vice President at Swinerton, shared his enthusiasm: “Swinerton is honored to partner with the City of Celina to bring this transformative project to life. The Downtown Center and parking garage will be pivotal in supporting Celina’s continued growth and evolution.”

The parking garage is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025, with construction on the Downtown Center expected to commence shortly after and conclude in the winter of 2026. This project reflects Celina’s dedication to sustainable, community-driven development and marks a significant milestone in the City’s bright and promising future.

Universal Studios

A NEW ERA FOR FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT IN FRISCO

Universal Parks & Resorts has unveiled an ambitious plan for a revolutionary theme park and resort in Frisco, Texas, set to open in 2026. This groundbreaking project promises to redefine family entertainment with a unique blend of immersive experiences and luxurious accommodations, tailored specifically for younger audiences and their families.

Luxury Meets Leisure

A high-end resort will accompany the theme park, offering luxury accommodations with elegant suites, a world-class spa, and fine dining. Its integration with the park provides visitors with both thrilling attractions and relaxing retreats. This dual-purpose development aims to attract a diverse audience, enhancing the guest experience for both short and extended stays.

Economic & Community Impact

Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney strongly supports the Universal park and resort project, highlighting its importance for the community. He believes it will be transformative for Frisco, creating jobs, boosting the local economy, and positioning the city as a global destination. The project’s potential economic benefits and its ability to attract visitors are significant.

The “one-of-a-kind” project is located inside the 2,500-acre, $10 billion Fields development with the new PGA headquarters, Omni’s new $530 million resort, and some 14,000 homes under construction. Although costs, an opening date, and a construction timeline were not announced for the project, representatives from Universal Parks and Resorts said it will be designed to appeal to families and include a 300-room hotel and four or five Universal-themed interactive experiences.

Dallas’ Only Mineral Hot Springs Experience Now Open In The Colony

A new mineral springs destination has launched in North Texas, drawing inspiration from some of the world’s most renowned hot springs, including Jordan’s Dead Sea, Iceland’s Blue Lagoon, and Mexico’s Grutas Tolantongo. Nestled within Grandscape in The Colony, WorldSprings is a sprawling 10-acre outdoor wellness retreat aimed at helping visitors of all ages recharge, reconnect, and enhance their wellbeing.

The facility boasts 46 pools with temperatures ranging from refreshing 55°F (12.7°C) cold plunge pools to soothing 104°F (40°C) hot springs. Highlights include:

• Four mineral-rich areas that replicate the soaking experiences of the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific, exclusively for adults aged 18 and over.

• The all-ages Globe Pool, designed for family enjoyment.

• The Dead Sea pool, a saline-enriched oasis reserved for adults 18 and older.

WorldSprings also features a luxurious spa with 12 treatment rooms, seven saunas, inviting fire pits, poolside lounges, and cabanas, along with a dining outlet, welcoming area, lockers, and retail space. The spa offers a range of body treatments, facials, and athletic recovery therapies, complemented by yoga sessions. Spa services include advanced Geneo facial technology.

To optimize guests’ bathing experiences, WorldSprings has collaborated with wellness consultant Dr. Sara Gottfried to create six specialized bathing circuits known as The Mineral Method. Each 1530 minute journey is tailored to specific wellness goals, guiding guests through a blend of hot and cold therapies for maximum benefit.
