RACE REPORT USCS 600 SPRINT CAR SERIES DIXIE SPEEDWAY SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 2012 WOODSTOCK GA—After the excitement from the races the weekend before, tonight is a special night as the mini sprint cars from the USCS 600 Sprint Car Series will race at Dixie Speedway for the first time out of three schedule Saturday nights this season. This will be the first time that I’ve seen mini sprint cars race. It should be something special. Since I arrived early enough this evening, I’m able to sit in the center of the grandstands. That is always my favorite place to sit as it provides a better vantage point for my camcorder. Trust me; I need a good vantage point to record the mini sprint car race tonight. Usually, I don’t record the hot lap sessions at Dixie Speedway unless it’s a special occasion. This time, I recorded the entire hot lap session for the mini sprints. On top of that, I recorded the entire length of both eight lap heat races for the mini sprints as well. As with the hot lap sessions, I don’t always record the heat races either with a few exceptions. After the opening ceremony is held, the Econo Bomber feature race takes the green flag, and then the Super Bombers and Pony Stocks. Up next was the feature attraction for the evening, the USCS 600 Sprint Car Series. They ran a 20 lap feature race. The mini sprint cars put on a great race. It was fun watching them. The engines for the cars have such low displacement that they make a go-kart like sound. The winner of the race was a 17 year old young man. I captured the entire race on my camcorder. After the mini sprints, the other local divisions raced. Then, there was the spectator race. After the spectator race, I drove back home after a fun Saturday night in the South at a short track. Those mini sprint cars are fun to watch. I can’t wait until they come back on July 14 with their bigger counterparts in the USCS Sprint Car Series.
