A WORD FROM THE FOUNDER AND EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Welcome to the first edition of Monthly Motorsport News. I’m so glad that you’ve decided to take the time to check out the newest electronic publication in the world of motorsports. Y’all may be wondering what Monthly Motorsport News is. Monthly Motorsport News is a monthly webzine that will cover the wide world of motorsports here in the United States and around the world. Other motorsports publications may only cover a few championships that have a large following. Well, here at Monthly Motorsport News, we cover as much of it as we can. If you want to know what went on at that sports car race that didn’t receive coverage on television or a mainstream publication, this is the place for that. While I’m writing this, y’all may be wondering who the man behind the webzine is. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Keith Laney. At the time of writing, I am 28 years old and I live in Woodstock GA. I have been a motorsports fan since I was eight years old. My father introduced me to NASCAR when I was in the second grade. The first race that I ever saw live was the 1992 Hooters 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Yes, I was at the Greatest Race Ever Run (that’s the name I give that famous race). Since then, I’ve been to a lot of races. At first I was primarily a NASCAR fan. But over the years, I began to follow other forms of motorsports as I was exposed to it by way of ESPN and SPEED. The next discipline of motorsports that I began to follow was NHRA. From there, I began watching Formula One, and then sports cars. I also like to watch motorcycle racing as well, but auto racing is where my real love is. That’s what will be covered here in Monthly Motorsport News. In this first volume of Monthly Motorsport News, the content in this webzine will primarily consist of race reports, columns, and special articles that I write, plus a little introduction from me at the beginning of each issue. Beginning with Volume 2, I will begin to allow reader submitted content. We’re going to start Monthly Motorsport News slow, but I intend to take it places in the coming years. It’ll be fun to see what will become of Monthly Motorsport News. This first edition will contain the 2012 schedules all of the major championships covered in Monthly Motorsport News. Since I actually wrote this edition of the webzine in December, there were no races to cover. That’s the case in the month of December in most years. Well, technically speaking, the Race of Champions took place, but it was from the 2011 season. In the January 2013 edition of Monthly Motorsport News, I’ll have the results for the 2012 Race of Champions. I want the webzine to start with coverage of the 2012 motorsports season.
