Coast to Coast, Pillar to Post Scott Wakefield
I’ve been on a tear of late. I attended the Region 1 meeting in Crookston at the Eagles club right downtown. Driving to the meeting I was thinking I must be in Canada by now, and as I passed through Twin Valley my thoughts turned to Viking snowmobiles, and if there was any indication they were made there. I didn’t see any, but three guys I sat with at the meeting were from Twin Valley. They said Viking might have moved one of the original buildings from the east side of town to the west, but they were made right in downtown Twin Valley. Pretty cool for a vintage guy like me. It was great to meet all the people from Region 1 clubs, and to listen to great presentations including the DNR, personal safety stories, younger folks wanting to know about Facebook, andbiteharder_midwest_hp_2021.pdf the like. I treated everyone1to 11/30/21 my “Jake10:43 fromAMState Farm” outfit, in Q&A had some good questions, and all the
positives on the “new” magazine were nice to hear too. On my way back I drove through the little town of Felton, home of Hall of Fame Arctic Cat cross country racer Brad Pake. I sat right behind Brad at a Hunter Houle Memorial Foundation event a few years back now, and now I know where he’s from. How cool is that? The next day I was off to Region 5’s meeting all the way down to Freeborn—a stone’s throw from Iowa. What a cool little town that is right on the lake, and another great meeting with all the great members of Region 5 clubs. There were good discussions on many items—youth club, vets ride, magazine, and thanks again to all the great comments on how everyone is loving the new magazine. Like I said, it’s “our” magazine now. We can do what we want, have in it what we want, and make it what we want. The Department of Labor released results the other day that 4.4 million people quit their jobs in September. I hope we have enough room on the trails? But more importantly, I can tell you there is no quit in your new MnUSA President. If it’s coast to coast or pillar to post, I’ll be there.
