MsScoldinghasconcludedthat MrReidwas“fitandproper”,stat ing:“Mistakesweremade–andnot everythingwashandledasitcould andshouldhavebeen.Idonotfind howeverthatany of theseactions amount to ‘seriousmismanagement’.”She added: “Theevidence showsthatMrReiddidtakestepsto seektoimprovepatientsafety.The

difficultywastryingtomakesuch improvementswhennot giventhe relevantinformationtomakeastrategicdifferenceandinthecontextof anorganisationwhichwasbroken.”

Reported hate crimes rise

Reportedhatecrimesinthe West Mercia region increased significantlyinthe year to March,newfiguresshow

Buildwas Abbeyhas stood on thebanksoftheSevernforalmosta thousandyearsandhasseencountless peoplepassthrough itshal lowedgrounds–notallwithgood intentions.

In fact,one murderousmonk isevensaidtohaveslainagreedy abbot, causinghis spirit to haunt theabbey to this day. Shropshire folkloreexpertandresearcherAmy Boucherisafrequentvisitortothe abbeyandhasbeendiggingintoits history,particularlythegrimperiod oftheearly1340swhenmurderand plaguefelluponitsdoors.

Amy,whocomesfromMadeley andrunsablogdetailingspookygo ings-oninShropshire,takesupthe storyofthe violenceatthe abbey thatmightexplainghostsightingsin theinterveningcenturies.

Shesaid: “1342wasn’tagreat year forBuildwas Abbey, though thetroublereallybeganaround18 monthsearlier,whenahorrendous cattlediseasestruckShropshire.Unknowingly,thisdiseasewouldstart achainofeventsthatwouldleadto
