Hundredsofpeopleusethepool everyweekandmanyofthemalong withstaffarekeentoseeitfixedand backinuse,withanonlinepetition collecting more than 1,400 signa turestodate.Theyarealsocalling uponthecounciltoshareresultsof surveyscarriedout,sotheycansee theextentofthedamage,themselves andgetanideaofthecostinvolved

Morethan500peopleuseSneyd swimmingpooleveryweekwitha further300onthewaitinglist.

Thepoolwasinitiallyclosedin thesummerduetoabrokenboiler andwasduetoreopeninOctober. Butthediscoveryofthecrackhas keptitshuteversince.

Perrin’s sporting talentsare not confinedtocricket.Atthe ageof 10 shewon thenational100 metre schoolstitle andfor awhileitlooked as though herfuturemight liein athletics.

“SometimesIwould step outon to thepitch andyou wouldhearpeo plesay:‘Oh,it’sa girl’,”she recalls. “Butitonlyegged me on andgave me that competitivedrive to prove theboyswrong andcompete with physicallystrongerpeople. Inever letitget to me.”
