 The

Jiaozhuo Bay Bridge is the worlds longest roadway bridge over water.  The bridge has a width of 115 feet and length of 87,621 feet( 41.58 kilometers ).



The

bridge is a triple-ended bridge. The bridge connects the eastern coastal city Quigdao to the suburb of Huangdao island.


The

Jiaozhou Bridge cost $10 billion yuan ( 1.5 billion U.S dollars ) The bridge took almost 4 years to build . The bridge is supported by more than 5,000 pillars.


The

bridge was designed by Shandong Gaosu Group. Construction of the bridge began in late 2007 and was finished in early 2011. The bridge opened on June 30, 2011 .



The bridge employed at least 10,000 people.  No one died during the construction of the bridge.  The construction used 450,000 tons of steel and 2.3 million cubic meters (81×106 cu ft) of concrete.  Concerns regarding the bridge's safety were raised when Chinese media reported that the bridge was opened with faulty elements, such as incomplete crashbarriers, missing lighting rods and loose nuts on guard-rails, with workers stating that it would take two months before finishing all of the projects related to the bridge. 
