School’s out! I had the most exhilarating school year! I finished my first year of Middle School, 6th grade, and it was so much fun. My favorite subject was Math. My least favorite subject was Science. I also made several new friends this year and that was a very positive experience and much different from the last two years. I’m so excited that we have finally reached summer and I know my peers are too! I’m looking forward to my family vacation and finally starting tackle football.
In this month’s youth journal we are recognizing fathers and what they do and their importance in family and in society. I am especially thankful to my father for his impact on my life. You will read Father’s Day tributes from other youth in the pages that follow. There are some very cool articles written by youth and for youth and some important reminders and dates about upcoming events. I hope you really enjoy reading this month’s journal.
Last, for this month’s journal I want to recognize our Pastor, my dad, who is also our spiritual father. We have a good pastor. Our pastor does a lot for our church. He labors in ways we don’t think about and takes time out of his day to study to make sure he delivers a strong and anointed message. He always has a vision of what the church could be in the future, such as starting a school, buying another church campus and building a new church. He is always thinking about church members and praying for them. At the same time as being a visionary and caring for our church, he also cares for our family. He always makes sure that my family and I live a good quality of life. I am so thankful for my Pastor and dad.

Have A Great Day!
I love my church because of its authenticity. I appreciate the fact that I can learn how to be a genuine Christian while living in this evil world. I am also equipped with the necessary tools to make it and be blessed in this life. I am grateful that my church is a church that teaches the true Bible and the comprehensive Gospel of Jesus Christ unlike some other churches. I am taught to be a genuine and authentic young Christian who can make a difference in the lives of youth my age. A part of this growth is due to youth ministry.
In youth ministry, at KCC, we learn the Bible in ways that are easy to understand for each age group. We actually learn the Bible and aren’t just sitting bored every time we meet. We have fun games and go to fun places and have fun nights. KCC youth ministry is very enjoyable and makes Christianity fun for us. Being a Christian is not boring and is preferred over the world’s system because, as I have learned at KCC, the Christian life is a blessed and sustainable life, and I love it. In the words of my pastor and dad, “I love this Christian life.”

Dad, thank you for being such a great role model in my life. You’ve shown me how to be a courageous Christian in this evil world. Thank you for reminding me of who I am in Christ: a beautiful Christian woman who has a purpose in God. You have always guided me in the right direction as to what my purpose is. I know that I am supposed to help people in their mental health. I'm so glad to call you my earthly father and I could not ask for anyone better. You make sure that I have everything that I need in order to succeed in all areas of my life, including spiritually. You have and continue to teach me Christian character. This includes knowing to do what’s right even in a situation when everyone else is doing wrong. Thank you for successfully playing the role of my father. I love you so much and thank God for you!

Thank you for being involved in my life. You show me what it means to put ministry first while still balancing it with family. Thank you for showing me a good work ethic. Thank you for showing me how to be masculine and caring about the choices I make. Thank you for mentoring me as a young man and showing me practical and spiritual lessons. Dad, you are an excellent example of a godly man and what I want to be like when I grow up. I love you, and Happy Father’s Day!
Happy Father’s Day! Thank you for being a great dad. You have always been the greatest influence in my life. I appreciate your presence so much because I know it is uncommon with a lot of black families today. Many African American men don’t care about their families and aren’t giving their boys the mentorship they need, but you do. You are also rich because of God, and you always share your blessings with us and make sure we have fun and enjoy life. One day I’m going to be a highly successful businessman just like you. Thank you for all that you do for me and Happy Father’s Day!

I love my dad. He is the best dad ever! He is funny and a great father. Happy Father’s Day dad!
Dear Dad, You have been the most beneficial part of my life. You exemplify what a true father and man of God is supposed to be. The countless corrections, laughs, and special moments have shaped me into the young man I am and the man I am becoming. I am forever grateful that God has placed you in my life. You are truly the best father that I could ever ask for. Happy Father’s Day!
I love my dad because he is strong. He shows how a man and father should act. I also love him because it is easy to talk to him. He is both kind and firm. He is always teaching me and my siblings right from wrong. Lastly, my dad is a real godly man, and I love him very much!
My Father is an incredible influence on my life, always guiding me with his wisdom. He shows me what hard work and integrity really look like. He is always teaching me the importance of love and humility, always praying over our family and leading devotions. That is just a small example of what my dad does consistently. I am very grateful for the example he is of what a Godly man and father look like. Happy Father’s Day dad.
Great fathers, especially black ones, are very rare. Many children cannot say they have a dad who works hard all the time and cares deeply for the wellbeing of his children. Even fewer children can say they have a father who loves God, is filled with the Holy Spirit and loves his wife. Well dad, this is you. I am so happy to be one of the ones who has a rare gem for a dad. We honor and love you very much. Happy Father’s Day!
Dad, you’ve always been strong, dependable, and an amazing example of what it means to lead your family. You’ve guided me with your wisdom while teaching me that for every problem, there is an answer in the word of God. You are a leader and an example of what to look for in my future husband. I appreciate that you not only continue to remind me of who I am but more importantly you remind me of who my Heavenly Father says I am. Thank you, Dad!
My dad works so hard to put a roof over my head and keep me in nice clothes. I thank you for all you do for me. Thank you for comforting me when I am upset. I could not have asked for a better dad. I love you.

God’s love doesn’t always look the way we expect. Sometimes, it’s quiet comfort. Other times, it’s a firm word we’d rather not hear. But both come from the same place—His heart as our Father. As a dad, you don’t let your child run into danger. You stop them, even if they’re upset. You correct because you care. That’s how God deals with us. He sees the bigger picture and loves us enough to tell us no. Proverbs 13:1 says, “A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not respond to rebukes.” Wisdom begins when we stop arguing and start listening. God’s correction isn’t rejection—it’s proof we’re His. When He speaks into our wrong turns, it’s because He’s invested in our future.
Another verse puts it in even stronger terms. Proverbs 13:24 says, “Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.” It doesn’t mean God enjoys discipline, it means He’s careful with it. He uses it to protect us, not to crush us. It’s part of His love, not separate from it. And that love? It runs deeper than we can explain. In Jeremiah 31:3, God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Everlasting. Unfailing. That’s not love that gives up when we mess up. That’s the love that stays. Then there’s 1 John 3:1, which says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” We don’t earn that title—we’re given it. And being God’s child means we get the full picture: His grace, His mercy, and yes—His correction too. God’s not out to punish us. He’s out to shape us. His love corrects, because it leads. His discipline teaches, because He sees who we’re becoming. And through it all, He stays close. That’s the love of the Father.
What is your favorite thing about youth ministry?
My favorite thing about youth ministry is our youth fun nights and the youth praise and worship.
How have you become involved with youth ministry?
I have joined the youth band and the youth publication team.
What do you want others to know about the KCC Youth Ministry?
I would like them to know that our youth ministry is great. We learn how to be Christians and how to love God. We also have fun nights with our youth leaders and friends, which are really cool.
How has youth ministry helped you?
Youth ministry has helped me to learn how to become a man of God. It has also helped me to learn about Jesus Christ and being a good Christian.
If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, pray the following prayer in faith, and you will be saved!
Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. According to Romans 10: 9-10, Jesus I ask you to come into my heart and be Lord over my life. Your Word says that "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.
I AM SAVED!
The school year is finally over, and summer break is starting! This is exciting news to everyone, and most of us have already made plans. However, as Christian teens, there’s one question we should think of; how do you show the character of Jesus while still enjoying yourself and having fun? Here are a few things that come to mind:
If you have one, ask your youth ministry about any upcoming trips or events they may be having. Activities with a youth ministry can provide you with fun and reassure you that Jesus will still be at the center.
Turn some of your fun into acts of kindness. Host a lemonade stand and donate the earnings, volunteer at a food pantry, or invite friends to youth ministry. Serving others is a great way to reflect Jesus' love during your break.
Find your own way to mix Christianity and fun; host a Christian movie night with snacks and family or, go to the park and have fun in the sun while also evangelizing. These are just some examples, so get creative and think of your own!
Although small, these things can make your summer one worth remembering. In whatever you do, just be sure that people can see Jesus in you when you do it!
