MIM offers a stunning and unique setting for events, with world-class service, sumptuous cuisine, magical entertainment, and incomparable musical and cultural exhibits. Displaying more than 6,000 musical instruments and artifacts from around the world, MIM provides a one-of-a-kind experience, with inviting indoor event spaces and beautiful outdoor courtyards that feature breathtaking views of Arizona sunsets.

Main Courtyard Belgian artist Louis Halleux created Phoenix, the memorable, rotating bronze sculpture that graces the Main Courtyard.

The enchanting Main Courtyard features lush desert landscaping, natural seating elements, and two tranquil water features. At dusk, Arizona sunsets provide a majestic backdrop for this calm and welcoming space. It's a perfect location for an evening reception or a seated dinner.

El Río El Río means “the river” in Spanish.

This magnificent 450 ft long thoroughfare winds through the interior of the museum like a graceful, flowing waterway. North El RÍo is a light-filled space that can be used for receptions or smaller seated dinners. South El RÍo is a versatile setting that accommodates larger seated dinners and cocktail hours, and can also be used in conjunction with the Main Courtyard to create an indoor/outdoor event flow.

Upper El Río A path to guide you through every country in the world.

SQUARE FOOTAGE 5,700 SQ FT

Upper El RÍo runs outside of the museum’s Geographic Galleries upstairs and provides a reception space that encourages guests to float in and out of galleries and out to the mezzanine for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Reception menus can mirror the Geographic Galleries to create a cultural dining experience.

Founders Room & Jill Dahlin Courtyard MIM was founded by Robert J. Ulrich, an avid collector of African art and a world museum enthusiast.

FOUNDERS ROOM 1,732 SQ FT 125 RECEPTION / 100 SEATED, 120 THEATER-STYLE

The Founders Room is a private, relaxed room for small gatherings or meetings. It can be used alone or in conjunction with the Jill Dahlin Courtyard and/or North El RÍo to allow for guest flow.

JILL DAHLIN COURTYARD 2,997 SQ FT 100 RECEPTION, 60 SEATED

Jill Dahlin (1948–2007) was a champion of MIMʼs vision and its first volunteer.

FOUNDERS ROOM AND JILL DAHLIN COURTYARD 225 RECEPTION, 160 SEATED

The Jill Dahlin Courtyard provides an intimate outdoor setting for receptions or seated dinners. With picturesque landscaping, natural seating elements, and a serene water feature, this courtyard can be used alone or with the Founders Room and/or North El Rio to create a suite of alluring event spaces.

Event Suites Constructed in August 2014, the Event Suites are the most recent addition to the museum to date.

EVENT ROOM 1 825 SQ FT 50 RECEPTION / 30 SEATED 60 THEATER-STYLE

The Event Suites are comprised of three rooms in varying sizes, all with audiovisual capabilities. Each room may be set up to fit a variety of needs, including theater-style seating, luncheons, dinners, or receptions. The Event Suites can be used separately or in conjunction with one another.

MIM Music Theater k.d. Lang was one of the first performers on the MIM Music Theater stage during MIM始s opening in April 2010.

The spectacular MIM Music Theater is a 300-seat theater with full audiovisual capabilities. The space is ideal for meetings that incorporate video or other types of presentations, award galas, and musical performances as part of a private event.

Café Allegro Executive Chef Chris Lenza graduated from the French Culinary Institute and apprenticed in Italy, working on organic farms.

Café Allegro is a bright and airy room surrounded by glass windows that overlook the beautiful desert foliage of the Main Courtyard. This intimate space is an ideal location for small, private dinners and receptions, and can be used in conjunction with South El Río and the Main Courtyard.

Food & Beverage Service Our exclusive caterer, Bon Appétit, provides locally grown, locally sourced, sustainable food and was named the Best Locavore Restaurant by Phoenix Magazine.

Bon Appétit’s philosophy is simple. Cook from scratch using fresh, authentic ingredients, starting with food in its most natural form.

There are no corporate recipes, and the deliveries of fresh, seasonal produce and whole foods each day are at the heart of their menus.

By its nature, the act of feeding people is an intimate one—or at least it should be. MIM and Bon Appetit care about what you like, and we also care about your health. Our global cuisine is crafted through hands-on trainings by chefs who grew up eating a particular cuisine.

FUN FACT: Bon Appétit is the first catering company in the industry to switch to sustainable seafood, rBGH-free milk, cagefree eggs, humanely raised ground beef, and pork raised without gestation crates (by 2015), and the first to address food’s role in climate change and the issue of farmworkers’ rights.

Gallery Access and Tours Like the world, MIM is always changing.

MIM continually adds to and enhances its 360 exhibits, representing every country on earth. With more than 6,000 musical instruments and artifacts on display, it is the galleries that set MIM apart from other event venues and create a memorable, unique experience for guests. The museum houses five Geographic Galleries that highlight major world regions, the Mechanical Music Gallery, the Artist Gallery that features instruments played by musical icons, and the Experience Gallery where guests of all ages are invited to touch, play, and hear a changing array of instruments from many different cultures.

FUN FACT: The oldest instrument at MIM is a paigu (hourglass drum) that dates back to China’s Neolithic period. Found near the Banpo village near Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, the drum is estimated to have been created between 5000 and 4000 BCE.
