Vietnam War 50th Commemoration
Commuters who enter or depart Fort Eustis and encounter traffic delays should call 878-3200 to report concerns. This will allow 733rd Mission Support Division Current Operations personnel to send the information to the rest of the JBLE community to adjust travel plans accordingly. Motorists are reminded to always to exercise caution and patience with emergency personnel, construction crews and other drivers.
The Fort Eustis Housing Services Office will host a Home Buying Seminar from 5 to 7:30 p.m., April 14 and a Home Selling Seminar April 16 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Both seminars will take place at the Soldier Support Center at 650 Monroe Ave., room 118. Industry speakers will include a realtor, mortgage lender, attorney and home inspector. The free seminars are open to active-duty U.S. military members, retirees, reservists, National Guard and their family members. To register, call 878-5579 or 878-5687.
The Vietnam War 50th Commemoration, “Honoring Our Heroes,” will take place May 15-16 at Fort Eustis. The following events will be held May 15: motorcycle ride and safety rodeo, luncheon at the Fort Eustis Club at 11:30 a.m. (tickets are $15) featuring guest speakers, music, exhibits and static displays. Fort Eustis Club Easter Brunch The Fort Eustis Club will host Easter Brunch April 5, at 2123 Pershing Ave.The menu features a breakfast and omelet bar, hot buffet, carving station, soup, salad, dessert and beverages. The reservation cost is $22 for adults, $12 for children ages 4-10, and free for children ages 3 and under.The walk-in cost is $24 for adults, $14 for children ages 4-10, and free for children ages 3 and under. Casualty Notification and Assistance training Casualty Notification and Assistance training will occur April 13-15, at 8 a.m. at the Bateman Army Education Center, room 131. The training is open to active-duty Soldiers, Reservists and National Guard members; E-7 and above and O-3 and above are encouraged to attend. Autism Awareness Fair The JBLE Exceptional Family Member Program will host an Autism Awareness Fair April 14 from 6 to 7 p.m., at 650 Monroe Ave. The event features information displays, family activities and giveaways. Days of Remembrance observance McDonald Army Health Center will host the 2015 Days of Remembrance observance, April 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Wylie Theater. This year’s theme is “Learning from the Holocaust: Choosing to Act.” The Holocaust Commission’s “What We Carry” program will be presented by the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater. The program provides powerful video footage of interviews with local survivors and archival footage that mirrors their individual stories of survival. Sexual Assault Awareness Month events 5K/10K Bunny Hop – April 3, 7 a.m. Hop, hope, run for change in sexual assaults. The run and walk will begin at the Air Combat Command running trail.
