CPPD captures seven training excellence awards About the awards

BY SUSAN D. HENSON CPPD Public Affairs Officer

Presented by the Naval Education and Training Command, the annual awards recognize commands that demonstrate the highest standards of training excellence in meeting fleet established requirements.

The Center for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) has earned seven out of nine possible Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) awards for excellence in training, including the nod as top learning center. NETC announced its FY-2014 Training Excellence Awards (TEA) Feb. 3. The awards recognize commands for superior accomplishment in support of NETC’s mission and that demonstrate the highest standards of training in meeting established fleet requirements. There are three categories of competition: the Learning Center Training Excellence “T” Award, the Training Support Center Training Support Excellence “TS” Award and Functional

Excellence Awards. CPPD won the 2014 Learning Center Training Excellence (White T) Award, which recognizes the overall top learning center for the competition year. CPPD also won Functional Excellence Awards for Business Administration and Support (Yellow T),Total Force Management (Red T), Logistics Management (Blue T), Curriculum Management (Black T), Training Production Management (Green T), and Training Support Management (Bronze T). NETC’s TEA competition is similar to a Battle Effectiveness (Battle “E”) competition held throughout the fleet that recognizes sustained superior performance by a command in an operational environment. NETC annually assesses its 13 learning centers and three training support centers, measuring their performance

based on a variety of factors, such as staff management of training and student throughput, safety visits and how it handles high-risk training. “This is an incredible accomplishment that reflects the hard work of every member of the command,”said CPPD Commanding Officer Capt. F.A. Reid.“I am continually amazed at the CPPD team’s level of dedication to helping Sailors succeed personally and professionally by delivering products and services that help develop Sailors’ skills to think critically, act responsibly and lead proactively.” NETC will present a plaque and burgee (an identification flag) to all award winners, and CPPD is authorized to display the burgee through the 2015 calendar year to signify outstanding accomplishments and excellence in delivery of education and training.
