Resume

PROFILE
I am currently employed as both the Woodshop Associate at the UNL College of Architecture, as well as a Digital Draftsman for Foresman’s Finest Carpentry. Going forward I hope to continue exploring employment that provides relevant skills and information related to the construction of buildings. To me, recognizing efficient strategies, or avoidable complications is highly important to a future career in Architecture, as such I am interested in exposure to new and foreign techniques for large scale fabrications.
EDUCATION
Fourth Year Undergraduate Architecture
Student in the College of Architecture, with a Minor in Sustainability Studies in the College of Environmental and Sustainability Studies. I am driven by the utility of Architecture as a means of translation. The artistic performance of a structure, acting as a catalyst for expressing inter-personal values. I see the design of the built environment as a conversation between the prevailing principles of context, and the forthcoming statement to the next generation of thinkers.

EXPERIENCE
Foresman’s Finest Carpentry - Digital Draftsman
June 2023- present
Alongside the construction of residential decks, comes the composition of detailed blueprints, a 3D rendering, and a complete site plan. Using Home Designer Pro I am developing skills in professional drafting, while learning residential code standards.
College of Architecture - Wood shop Associate
August 2022-present
The wood shop requires a thorough understanding of safety with larger tools, knowledge of tool repair, in-depth experience with saws, and a capacity to teach. It is my job to ensure that all proper precautions are taken by students using the shop, and to provide assistance with unfamiliar tools or techniques.
Terracraft Landscapes – Summer Internship
May - August 2021
Through this job I learned how to operate heavy machinery, and deal with material movement on a large scale. As such was promptly trained to use an Excavator and a Skid-Steer Loader, both of which were used in the translation of gravel, concrete, CMU, and rebar.
Home Depot – Customer Service Desk Employee
October 2020 - May 2021
At the Home Depot I found myself learning terminology, cost differences, and correct contexts regarding hardware, materials, and tools.
Foresman’s Finest Carpentry – Apprentice Carpenter
March - August 2020
While on-site, I learned trade skills with hand tools, power tools, and compressed air tools. As well I learned how to mix, pour, and form concrete for patios, footings, and sidewalks. It was through this job that I became familiar with vocabulary, techniques, and safety practices regarding on-site construction.
KCAI College of ARCHITECTURE
Collaborators:
Miles Godfrey & Olivia Miller
Located on the university campus of the Kansas City Art Institute, this project encapsulates the local atmosphere of independent creativity. The double-shelled mass timber form embraces familiar daylighting strategies to the adjacent artstudios, while incorporating an identity that is uniquely consistent. In its simplicity, the new College of Architecture speaks to the refined nature of the KCAI campus.

WEST SECTION

Commemorative Cultural Studio
Collaborators: Miles Godfrey, Elise Benson, Olivia Rowe, Sarah Maher, & Lauren Christopher
Seeking to establish a space for interpersonal collaboration, the Cultural Studio is a place for Native American artwork and practices to be shared. The studio respects and responds to its orientation upon the landscape with egress facing the sunrise, and its galleries along the stellar plane in the night sky. Within the courtyard, its fire pit centers the studio around sharing tradition.

Tech. Addiction Rehab Center
Collaborators:
Miles Godfrey, Austin Pick, & London Forsberg
Built around an existing Barn, the Rehabilitation Center takes its inspiration from expanding the identity of the traditional gabled form. This project reflects the world it inhabits, looking away from technology it finds its own beauty within the adoption of existing as is. The Barn acts as the grounding element that dictates how the center approaches progression; not as a restart, but as an expansion of self.

Rockbrook Elementary School Renovation
This redesign of Rockbrook Elementary School is focused upon adding architectural elements that accommodate all students. Different flooring materials lead throughout the school, acting as a physical guide that allows for easy navigation. Additionally, the articulated ceiling form responds to the locations of rooms, forming a dynamic acoustic relationship to each space.

Hybrid Residence Restaurant
Collaborators:
Miles Godfrey & Andy Real
Located adjacent to Salt Creek, the form of the restaurant connects the orthogonal built environment with the bio-philic midline of the creek. The restaurant on the ground floor contributes both an entrance to and exit from the creeks walking trails. Separated by the kitchen on the second floor, the top floor houses three apartments for the live-in chefs.
