Chemical and Nuclear Environmental Concerns

Chemical/Nuclear Environmental Concerns

Environmental concerns and issues are only increasing, and not decreasing Concerns with water quality, food production, and chemical usage are considered The growth of the organic industry, agricultural, is itself given evidence to the growing activity and the distrust of people towards conventionally grown produce The price difference is what is driving poor and middle-class communities to choose conventional, rather than organic Though a large segment of conscientiousAmerican consumers have willfully shifted to grow, consume, and share organic produce This is a deliberate act to make sure their food, and water supply is not tainted

Additionally, human activity will plummet, and the ramifications associated with it will follow if disasters of large scale happen. As human productivity will decrease considerably, social disorder will ensue. That is why disasters of such kind are regional weapons of mass destruction, though localized. The incident inTianjin, China clearly shows why such disasters, even if accidental, will force a dramatic change in the welfare, and the daily routine of people in the locality. The incident mentioned above was a non-toxic chemical incident. If it were a nuclear incident, then the repercussions could have been felt even in the capital of China, Beijing. Constant reports are coming from China that the water quality is toxic, and the arable land in that nation is rapidly decreasing The agricultural land is decreasing because of the business boom, and the need for housing China is a mountainous country That is what kept her safe from invasions But, unfortunately, the situation does not look good for that nation The economic viability of the nation is not good, nor the environment which they live in As the progression of the nation moves on, I fear for the dismemberment and subsequent

recolonization by world powers One who destroys nature, destroys self, that is very self-evident

Foundationally, the responsibility of all scientists, especially those of chemical field, is to make it possible for the nations to use these toxic chemicals without self-harm, and self-destruction As was the case in Bhopal, India The toxic gas release devastated an entire generation of peoples There were a lot of people who went blind, died, and had terrible biological abnormalities Even their generations have been known to suffer from such maladies The toxic fumes must have caused genetic abnormalities in the local population, and thus caused birth defects in unnatural high numbers The Indian government, British government (where the criminal owner fled), and theAmerican government (DuPont bought the company) have not acted in remedial efforts, nor have they provided some form of restitution for the victims. These need to be addressed. Chemical and nuclear incidents must be considered, in my view point, as criminal negligence, and must be prosecuted as such. There should not be a statutory limitation.

To conclude, nuclear and chemical accidents must be addressed as criminally liable incidents And the victims compensated quickly, and with proper future remedial work in mind The company responsible should act with utmost respect to the law, and to the victims, and provide a meaningful restitution, and a recompense for those severely affected The nation, state, locality, people, and the industry must address these problems quickly, and in the most efficient manner For in the future the toxicity of chemical substances will only increase, and the lethality of such and the repercussions most severe will happen We must plan for the worst, prepare for devastation, and hope and pray for the best
