SITE ANALYSIS Hurst st./Smallbrook Queensway The Ringway Centre, also known as SBQ, is a Grade B locally listed building on Smallbrook Queensway in Birmingham, England. James Roberts designed the six-story, 230-metre-long (750-foot) structure.

Accomplished in 1962, the Ringway Centre was the very first part of the Inner Ring Road arrangement to be completed, and also the only part with street level stores and pedestrian walkways.

History The Ringway Centre was the first portion of the Inner Ring Road to be built, with construction beginning in 1957, in part due to the destruction of this area during the Birmingham Blitz. This section of the Inner Ring Road is distinct in that it has sidewalks on both sides, which are surrounded by buildings with store fronts at street level. Because of this, Leslie Ginsberg, the head of the Birmingham School of Planning, criticized the Ringway Centre in 1959 as being out of date.

Following the completion of this section of the ring road, the decision was made to separate pedestrians from traffic via underpasses, subways, and flyovers. Herbert Manzoni, the ring road's designer, believed that pedestrians should never cross the ring road's main road. Laing Construction was named as the general contractor for the project. The Hurst Street overpass was the first part of the building to be built, and it was finished in 1959.

RENOVATING PLANS They agreed that the revised designs were significantly more appealing, and they were pleased that the Ringway Centre's sweeping arc would be preserved. The portion from Holloway Circus to Hurst Street, including the bridge, will be removed, and a new nine-story building with commercial establishments will be erected in its place. On the Hurst Street intersection, a 26story residential building will be constructed.

The building between the Bullring and Hurst Street will be stripped back, re-clad, and two floors added in the second phase of the plan.

The building phase will provide around 500 employment, and once completed, the offices, restaurants, and shops will generate an additional 1,100 permanent employment.

There are no museums in this area, an area where there are no much cultural development, that arranges all spectrums, given that the site is very close to the china town.

The site could be a very good place for a museum due to his location, given the good area it would be difficult to attract visitors because of the building entrance, would be hard, stairs location could be a problem, they are very narrow with not much room for movement.

LIBRARY This two are different but in the same spectrum The library would work very well in the bottom part of the building were people can more easily enter the building it's more practical for people to use in visit the library will be big with a lot of open spaces and good people movement flow the book shelving will be closer to the exterior walls so people can walk around and see what's happening in the middle.

The museum would be in the top half of the building I would focus on the flow of the space how people would move in it and what would be exposed in the space for people to see this one comes together with my design proposal which he's using the museum as an Space divider but also a different way to use spaces with two different ideas in different spaces

I believe it's very unusual to see apartments within office spaces environment but it could work when you have the office spaces in the top half of the building in the bottom apartments

1- ENTRANCE 2- MAIN LIBRARY/ STAIRS 3- READING AREA The building has no ground floor; and the entrance seems hidden; with no actual way to access it. The building need to be renovated; from de inside and and exterior; location is great because its closer to everything in town with accessibility to everything.

Materials included are mostly reenforced concrete; Pilars and floors and the facade are all made from concrete; at the moment it has very old and outdated windows.

“Concept Statement”

The reason why I chose the brand Keith to work with it because it’s one of the brands that I am most passionate about and I like what they do and what the values are and what to bring to the community and the impacted the clothing brings to people The name Kith is derived the from “Kith and Kin” and archaic Scottish term that loosely translates as “friends and family” and can also mean “to make known” Kith’s motto is” Just Us” sub Rosa ethos describes Fieg´s inner a cycle which includes athletes like NFL players and basketball players

For this project I want to do something that I haven’t done before that’s why I decided to combine two different themes different spectrums and try to join them together to try to make a better connection with the visitors and customers my initial idea was to have a normal store which has exhibition area where the furniture is from a known artist which is very close to Keith CEO Ronnie Feig. I think this could work because they have the same ideals in visions and goals. Keith clothing will be exhibit just like the furniture around them For this project I had inspirations from some museums that had clothing Exhibit and also some funky and more quirky clothing stores some other expert inspirations were from London´s design museum well they had a women’s power exhibition where they showed the most influential clothing for women and how they change what women wear today.

The store is located in Los Angeles and it's very different because they tear is made out of concrete walls ceilings and floor in certain areas they have a central glass structure mounted just for shoe shopping and this one like many others as white shoes all over the ceilings and walls.

This store is located in Paris France and it has a massive ground floor plan which is an entrance accessories area and then for the hair do you have a restaurant and bar where you can eat on the right side you have clothing exhibitions and also some tweets the offer on the first floor they have a balcony; they also have the first floor divided for women and men all the spaces within the first floor or different different materials in different feelings in men's section to use more ceramic materials when the woman are used wood with ceramic material combined

1. Shop from sustainable and ethical fashion brands.

Fashion—a $2.5 trillion sector—is the second most polluting industry on Earth, right behind oil. The pressure to reduce costs and speed up production time means that environmental corners are cut in the name of profit. Fast Fashion’s negative impact includes the use of cheap, toxic textile dyes – with the fashion industry the second largest polluter of clean water globally after agriculture.

The fundamental issue with fast fashion is the excessive use of resources in a linear and heavy consumption-based economy, with the planet and fashion workers bearing the brunt of the consequences. Fashion generates around 92 million tonnes of garbage and consumes 1.5 trillion tonnes of water each year, with poor nations bearing the brunt of the load. The dyeing of textiles in the creation of clothes, in particular, is acknowledged to be the world's second largest polluter of water, behind only agriculture.

In this procedure, some of the poisons are carcinogenic.

Furthermore, increased polyester manufacturing has resulted in a rise in microfibers going through washing machines and finally ending up in oceans throughout the world.

2. Buy less often and buy high quality.

3. Donate or sell gently used clothing.

4. Recycle textiles and garments.

5. Repurpose old clothing.

BRAND REALIZING THE PROBLEM RESEARCH MYTHOLOGY

“Over the past year we have been working to redevelop our signature fabrics through sustainable processes. The first fabric we are now presenting is a 230 GSM cotton jersey created through a blend of organic and recycled cotton. We worked with a factory that has Global Recycled Standard and Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production certifications. The fabric was then garment dyed using an eco-friendly and water-conscious process. We took it a step further and used a waterbased print which is more sustainable than typical plastisol inks.

This practice is one that we are proud to introduce tomorrow with the release of our Kith Flatten the Curve Tee for Earth Day 2021. However, it is something we will continue to implement for products within our future collections. Continuing to explore this application to our other fabrics is a priority for us.

100% of the proceeds from the release of the Kith Flatten the Curve Tee tomorrow will be donated to organizations committed to protecting our planet. These organizations include City Growers, GrowNYC, Surfrider Miami, Free Plastic & The Farmlink Project.”

GLASS Its very interesting the way they used glass into the design of the space, most of the walls are installed with glass, its noticeable that was something important to transmit clarity and pureness into the space, it makes the space more inviting

Dark material work very well to bring a sense of uncertainty into a space. Something that I want to recreate into my project, the way I want to recreate this idea was with the color tones, I’ve used more darker blues in the man’s area, with slight tones with white, in terms of the woman’s area I’ve used dark colors of pink and slight light green. The rest can be seen as a two tone gray, for a more monochrome feeling.

AKENZ Store / LUKSTUDIO PRECEDENTS RESEARCH MYTHOLOGY Lukstudio, a Shanghai-based boutique design firm, has created a streetwear store inspired by the dynamic forms found in a skatepark. The store is the Shanghai flagship of Akenz, a Scandinavian luxury streetwear brand. Because streetwear is an offspring of socio-cultural movements like hip hop and skateboarding, the firm thought a skateparkinspired design would be ideal. The flagship store, dubbed 'The Skatepark,' is located on the second floor of TX Mall, a new shopping attraction on Huai Hai Road. The shop has been separated into two independent parts, presenting 'indoor' and 'outdoor' spatial features, taking into account the store's triangle shape and extremely big windows.

The Skatepark's retail concept provides a unique immersive experience for guests. This avant-garde store's interiors raise brand awareness and improve the overall shopping experience. The essential ideals of streetwear culture are transformed into recognizable features found in extreme sports and city streets at this retail outlet.

Furthermore, while the store is attractive, it is also really utilitarian. "The architectural arrangement required to incorporate a fire-exit path for the general public in the mall, in addition to optimizing retail surfaces at an uneven site." Furthermore, the fact that it is on an upper level caused some difficulties in terms of drawing street traffic," says Christina Luk, founder of Lukstudio.

"We incorporated the huge ramps and grind rails into the store area because they are crucial formal features of a real skate park." We used an industrial palette for materiality, such as iron panels, powder-coated stainless steel, and plywood panels, which are common in skateparks.

Between the two ramps is a corridor that leads to a lightfilled "outdoor" park with triangular display plinths strewn around like street furniture. A roof of mirror stainless steel strips draws in the surrounding lush canopy and colorful streetscape below. The reflective component, which appears as rays of light from the window, interacts with one's movements in space and abstracts movement into fragmented colors, providing a dynamic spectacle to the store.

Planters and sitting, similar to a public bench, are integrated into a continuous foundation constructed of aligned plywood along the window sill. A light-weight modular rack spans the length of the 16.5 m glass front, allowing a large selection of 210 shoes to be shown while taking advantage of the lengthy street exposure.

The white system comes with retractable shelves to provide you the most display options.

The design of contemporary commercial space is increasingly oriented toward immersive experiences, which increase customer brand recognition and loyalty. At the Skatepark, the essential characteristics of streetwear culture are transformed into recognized formal features found in extreme sports and urban streetscapes, promoting the youthful lifestyle of challenging oneself and liberating individuality.

AKENZ Store / LUKSTUDIO PRECEDENTS/ HOW THIS CORRELATES WITH MY DESIGN RESEARCH MYTHOLOGY

In term of correlation the two companies have some similarities in the way studio space were design. My inspirations where various; started to explore clothing stores that have the same or similar way of thinking like KITH. ARKENZ has the same principles in designing they're stores, they focus on materiality; how is the user is going to feel in that space and how the materials makes them feels. In there hong kong store they introduced a seating area where the customer can seat and feel surrounded by the city without living the store.

The usage of the same materials that can be seen in a skatepark compressible due to the brand ideals.

The assuming correlation that I’ve came across while researching, is that materiality was a big inspiration for my design In terms of was implemented and how the used was going to feel while using it.

The shoe rack that can be seen next to the seating area inspired me to design my ow, made with glass. This my idealization of how to incorporate user attention focus, with something that can be seen as art.

How does it correlate with the design Glass can be found in many places in the store, the first place is In the accessories area where the shelfs are made out of glass to insinuate a more clean visual, and and for reference is a material that the brand uses quite often in there stores; the second place is the handrails that can be found on the stairs, leading to the office.

The third place is the shoe exhibition, this a mane focus kind like an art piece where the costumers can see and touch. Joining both of there stores precedent, combining the seating area in AKENZ store (Hong Kong-China) and with the KITH (Tokyo-Japan) Inspirational glass for visualization

DESIGN DRIVERS

MOVEMENT- in my design I want everything to have a “movement” in the way of the materials; the doors where are you go through, are designed specifically to be different so it's more visually exciting. The furniture will be designed by an artist were furniture can be different from other.

FLOOR ARRANGEMENT- I want in the space to have a natural flow to it where you can see every space wherever you are and the entrance for each space is open to give a sense of open space where the customers can go whenever they want without any restrictions.

COLOR-I think colors are important that's why I try to choose different materials in different color so every section of the design has a different feeling to it; in the woman section I try to put everything more pinkish like any men's area I put more blues. I want the walls to be all neutral color throughout the space that's what I decide to put beige as a third-floor main color.

KITH / SNARKITECTURE PRECEDENTS RESEARCH MYTHOLOGY

A chandelier made of Nike sneakers now hangs within Pershing Hall, a 19th-century house where design company Snarkitecture has constructed a new flagship for American streetwear brand Kith.Snarkitecture, located in New York, has developed more than ten distinct Kith locations, but this is the largest to date, as well as the brand's first freestanding store in Europe.

The fit out was aimed to remain authentic to Kith's urban New York aesthetic while also respecting the building's distinctive heritage.

Originally built as a private mansion in the late 1800s, it was purchased by the American Legion in 1928 to serve as the headquarters for American general John J Pershing. It was eventually renovated into a five-star hotel after serving as an officer's club.

The concept taken by snarkitecture was to mix contemporary shapes and graphics with classic materials and proportions.

"Much of the design was influenced by the history and current condition of Pershing Hall," the firm, directed by artist Daniel Arsham, stated. "However, it was critical to strike a balance between those features and a modern shopping experience."

"We brought new methods and materials to the Kith retail style, such as walnut wainscoting, moulding, and Venetian plaster, to reflect the historical background of the space."

The two ceiling pieces constructed from Nike shoe castings are the most eye-catching of the new additions.

While these installations are frequent in Kith's establishments, they are meant to emulate antique characteristics – a barrel-vaulted ceiling and a teardrop chandelier – in this case.

MARK, a real estate investor, sponsored the reconstruction of Pershing Hall. Kith has occupied three floors of the structure, with the top levels used as offices.

The glass-roofed courtyard, which has become Sadelle's bar and restaurant and contains a green wall by French botanist Patrick Blanc, is a key place on Kith's floors.

Snarkitecture also altered some of the original architectural aspects on the structure, such as the castiron railing, which now bears the Kith emblem.

The showrooms are arranged around the courtyard. There's a Treats cereal bar, a lounge with blue velvet seats, and retail galleries with geometric brass hanging racks.

First ideas

For my initial Ideas I had in mind was join two different worlds.

Museums art peaces are good to incorporate more into a space where it needs complementation in some other way. Using art can elevate the narrative of the space, where people can interact with art while shopping for clothing.

Why a clothing store would work with a museum, they both depend on people circulating in a space where they look around for entertainment or just browsing a space.

A clothing space can be a place where shows emotion throughout the space, where not only the clothing is important but also how the space it self makes the customer feel.

Conceptualizing Kith as an extension of himself, Fieg seeks to shift the current landscape of fashion, while operating under a personal philosophy of giving the consumer more than what they pay for. · Company history, present day and future; where did they come from and where are they going next?

Kith was founded by Ronnie Fieg, a prominent figure in the footwear industry, who has over twenty years of hands-on experience; Born and raised in Queens, Fieg has been involved in the footwear industry since becoming a stock boy at New York-based franchise David Z. at age 12. With steadfast perseverance, he methodically rose through the ranks from floor salesman to assistant manager to eventually becoming head buyer.

MINIMALISTIC CEILING TYPES

The company likes to use different architects and different designers to give a difference appearance in every single store so no single store is the same as the other ones that's why I find this clothing company very interesting because they do things different in the sense that other store does it. I feel with this design I can improve the sense of flow within the space how to manage people circulation that's why my girls but I also went to the store to look different as what already have. I'm going for a more minimalistic style with also arches and different ceiling designs and I am going to incorporate the white sneakers they use in every single store in a way like the top fixture of the main space

The reason I chose this artist for collaboration with KITH its because the way he creates new art pieces; usually is very different and unusual; normally he redefines materials in different objects; the most popular incorporating crystals into car, like it naturally belongs there.

My intention is to use his furniture, that has different shapes and forms, something usually not seen very much in the public. With that being said it would be like a showroom where furniture will be on display for everyone to seen and interact with it; but also in the same space there will be mannequins wearing Kith´s clothing and also be seated in the

Site analysis 37-42 Tenby Street Jewelry Quarter Birmingham B1 3EF The Jewelry Quarter is an industry hub, with over 100 retailers, diamond dealers, and workshops, as well as the Museum of the Jewelry Quarter, which includes a restored 1980s workshop.

Georgian architecture lines the grassy St. Paul's Square, which surrounds the 18th-century St. Paul’s Church. The revitalized area is filled with independent stores, trendy bars, and an galleries, as well as modern Indian and Italian restaurants.

Project Analysis I really enjoyed doing this 48 hour project was interesting and different projects it felt like a real life situation and we had to come up with a plan will quick Show to client see if you liked it or not the rush was very stimulating creatively something that we should do more often to put our brains to work in a fast time project My initial ideas and the first days were to how to incorporate everything in the jewelry needs a tiny space I’ve tried to put the most basic things first like the reception and Front store management helping near the cash register so firstly I want to put a Secure locked in entrance where only the receptionist can open the door for security purposes would permitted entrance when you enter it you can easily see who displays on your left in for their hair counter where there’s more jewelry display you have sales assistant any help needed next you have on your background is sort curved wooden art piece or they will be also displays on the wall certain watches more expensive ones where are the buyer can look at while purchasing washes themselves; in the far back do you have design area well every jewelry piece is made and repaired close this room do you have a private VIP section where the most valuable and rare items are. The location of the site I think it’s decent but not the greatest but the store itself has a lot of potential to become a very successful store in the future

Exercise. 1 This exercise was for us to connect with each other and grow more sense of work in a group or we can learn from each other and taking in different ideas and different points of use and use the different skills that we all share to bring this concert pavilion into something different we started doing which is paper models The end goal for this project is to make a pavilion that would become an exhibition in the NEC. The first exercise we had was to make 20 models or as much as we can do and goal that was find one model I could become the final version; perceived to make different generations of the first paper model. Once we found what model we wanted to do we start search about materials in their sustainability do you want to use the lighter material or bamboo beginning then we found about glulam glued laminated timber is a type of structural engineer wood constructed by layers of dimensional timber bonded together with durable moisture resistant structural adhesive; or cramps, Although timber is resistant can also be worn down very easily because he’s soft material itself which may with dents or marks in the material so for this problem I decided to put screws in between the joinery between the arch in the middle section with this big long screw the pavilion will be more resistant to more likely to resist any dissemble and assembly.

My part of the project was more inclined on the research on the NEC exhibition center focusing on searching materials needed to make this project else at the end please search screws in the middle section where the support Play middle section will be more sturdier
