‘Musical Moments’ features Latin artist Pavel Vitier on September 17 at Miami Lakes Branch Library Miami Lakes Branch Library presents Musical Moments with local Latin artist Pavel Vitier at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 17 at 6699 Windmill Gate Road. Vitier, a composer/writer and guitarist, will deliver a special performance of great dance music with a mixture of modern Latin sounds. He has collaborated in recordings for such artists as Willy Chirino, Donato Poveda and Edwin Bonilla. Vitier also performed and toured with Cachao, Alejandro Sanz and Jose Feliciano. All ages are welcome for the performance. For more information, call 305-822-6520.

Field trips to Miami Marlins free Thursday home games are popular with Miami Lakes seniors

MIAMI MARLINS Thursday home games are free for seniors 55 years and older. Pictured is a large group of Miami Lakes seniors ready to board their free bus at Town Hall for the August 25 Marlins vs. Kansas City Royals game. The group is decked out with their red 2016 Miami Lakes Seniors Sluggers shirts. During the game, the Miami Lakes group was shown three times on the stadium’s Jumbo Tron screen. Of the six games the Senior Sluggers have attended this year, the Marlins were winners in four of them. The final senior trip to Marlins Park, sponsored by the Elderly Affairs Committee, is set for Thursday, September 22, vs. the Atlanta Braves. Sign-up for the trip starts on September 12 by calling Town Hall at 305-364-6100.
