STAFF FEATURE: Tevin Gaston Health Information Coordinator PHOTO BY MARTIN R. SMITH
"Information is a source of learning. But unless it is organized, processed, and availbale to the right people in a format for decision making, it is a burden, not a benefit." -Wlliam Pollard
Tevin Gaston is a short story from Clerk to Coordinator. He stared off as a Health Information Clerk, but soon after he had the opportunity to manage his department. Tevin is now our Health Information Coordinator at MHMC. Tevin has shown his skills to develop and handle the demand of the health information department. Tevin is a very focused and driven individual who understands the need and importance for the information he collects. When Tevin is not working he uses his time off to go out into nature. Tevin expressed that this is his balance, from constantly being around files he enjoys escaping into the forest and going off road. Tevin also has a true passion for aviation, from plane spotting to flight simulations, are a few of his favourite things to do. Tevin reminds us that a good medical record serves the interest of the medical practitioner as well as thier patients. It is very important for the treating doctor to properly document the management of the patient under their care. And that is why he takes pride in his medical record keeping.

Ambassadors for Culture and Engagement Ambassadors for Culture and Engagement (ACE) has been established to enhance and maintain an engaging workplace environment. This month we feature the Ezra Long Laboratoy whose ACE representative is Ms. Elena Thome. As part of the Laboratory Professionals Week 2022 of actvities, the Ezra Long Laboratory challenged each other to a race.
IT'S NOT ABOUT WHAT IT IS, IT'S ABOUT WHAT IT CAN BECOME.
They ran from MHMC to the Cul De Sac bridge and back. It was definietly a race of "The Tortoise and the Hare". As the saying goes "the race is not for the swift but for those who can endure". Team members who bolted off sprinting eventually returned to the starting point last but that was all part of the fun. While they emabarked on a competitive event it truly turned out to be collaborative. We saw the team members encouraging each other, supporting each other, cheering them on even when they just wanted to give up. Check out the video of the race on our Facebook page. ACE will remain on the frontline as we engage with the MHMC team and connect with the various recognition days within all departments.
