Firstly, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our 33rd Annual Sale! It’s hard to believe we’ve been hard at it that long, but it’s not hardly like going to work if you really enjoy what

you do on a daily basis. We are enjoying record prices across the board and its an exciting time for this industry.

Secondly, we would like to thank all the people that have supported our program

along the way, customers, friends, neighbours, family and the behind-the-scenes crews for clipping, sorting, sale day help, videos, sales management, ring staff etc. as it truly takes a village.

Thirdly, the cattle speak for themselves. Raised in a no-nonsense environment with no creep, natural pasture, strict culling for important traits such as performance, calving ease, maternal strength, structural soundness, disposition and eye appeal. They are a strong and consistent group whether you are looking for heavy duty performance sires or sleep easy calving bulls. The bulls are wintered on a forage ration of silage, chopped hay, rolled oats and a custom formulated bull supplement to ensure longevity and growth. By sale day they will have received Fusogard vaccine for footrot and passed a semen test, no deferred bulls offered. Scrotal measurements and updated weights will be available closer to sale day. The purebred open females are a reflective group to that of the bulls offered, from our replacement pen from cow families and pedigrees that have worked well for us. The commercial heifers are managed the same way, they are home raised or a few sourced from Ric Arthurs. All will be palpated to ensure breeding soundness.

We will be having a video sale once again, DLMS will be on site for online bidding so please familiarize yourself and sign up prior to the sale. Of course there is in person bidding or phone bid contacts or have a visit with any of the ring staff or sales management who are happy to help. Cattle will be penned just outside the sale barn sale day and you are free to view the cattle any time prior to the sale or give us a call to discuss any questions you may have. Bulls can remain at the farm free of charge until May 1 and feed charge of $4/day thereafter. Any animals staying must be insured and Cheryl Brown Stockman’s Insurance will be on site. Delivery can be arranged so please give complete instructions at the settle up desk at the conclusion of the sale.

Expected Progeny Differences - EPDs are one tool to help in selecting decisions that compare an animal to his contemporary group, the numbers will change as the more data is collected and will increase the accuracy.

CE Basically predicts the percentage of unassisted births, the higher the number the higher unassisted births

BW Predicts the difference in average birth weight compared to breed average (expressed in lbs.)

WW ability of calves to grow from birth to weaning (expressed in lbs.)

YW Growth from birth to yearling (expressed in lbs.)
