T

he lure of living in downtown St. Petersburg, and enjoying the amenities of the recently completed, luxury ONE condominium tower, enticed the Fleming family, Lucas, Tara and daughter Avary, to make a bold move and sell their longtime Snell Isle home. Finishing out and furnishing the interior of their newly purchased three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath living space emboldened them, even more, to move away from the traditional Mediterranean design of their previous dwelling, to embrace a more contemporary living environment featuring contrasting colors, texturized layers and customized light fixtures. Lisa Gilmore, principal interior designer with Lisa Gilmore Design,

recalls the residence featured a floor plan and flooring, but little else when she began what became a year-long project. Designing with the moods the family wanted to evoke, and combining that vision with an artistic value that would clearly differentiate their space from any others, Gilmore strived to give her clients something “they never knew could exist.” “We are a very artistically driven design company, and I am passionate about color, patterns and unique elements,” Gilmore said. “We wanted to take this modern condo shell space and use furniture, colors and textiles to create a super modern, chic look, with a traditional undertone. The end result was very fashion forward.”

The full service design firm worked with DHM Construction Services to coordinate custom cabinetry and finishing touches to the powder room. Elements exclusively crafted for the condo included the kitchen’s geometric backsplash incorporating three shades of marble, draperies and custom furniture like the plush, tufted ottoman placed within the raspberry colored walls of the study. Only a few of the family’s furnishings transitioned to the new home, but paintings provided a very personal connection with their family tree.
