The M.S. in Health Promotion and Management is 32 credit hours ($34,208)

 Applicants for full and part-time study (excluding fellowships and Double Warrior Scholarships) are eligible for the Dean Scholarship, which is awarded based on merit and need. This generous scholarship, in addition to our already low tuition, can help you save significantly on tuition costs.

What You'll Learn

Our health promotion and management graduate degree equips you with a full suite of evidence-based methods and professional tools. It includes 32 credits of courses in health promotion, policy, social marketing and more along with a career-preparing capstone involving research, needs assessment and program design (or a similar in-depth project) along with 8 credits (2 courses) of electives that allow you to tailor the education to your career goals.

Program Concentrations

• Health Promotion and Program Management: The Health Promotion and Program Management concentration provides a tightly integrated curriculum in health, wellness, leadership, marketing, administration and policy. You'll graduate with the well-rounded expertise and perspective required for leadership positions.

• Health and Wellness Coaching: Students in this concentration learn and practice evidenced-based skills to actively engage clients/ patients in various settings to foster lifestyle behavioral changes. *Students also receive a Merrimack College Health Coaching Certificate when they complete 50 coaching sessions with realworld clients as part of the course requirement.

• Community Health Education: This concentration offers you the resources, tools and hands-on training to encourage lifestyles. By studying current population health issues and evidence-based professional practices, you’ll learn how to identify community health challenges—and work to solve them.

Admission Requirements

This master’s program is intended for students who hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a health-related field (such as public health; health education/health promotion; exercise science/ kinesiology; human performance; human nutrition; or a closely related field), or a bachelor's degree in another field plus professional experience in a health-related field. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in another field will be considered, but may be required to complete a call with a program representative to confirm they are qualified for the graduate program, and may also be required to take and pass (with a grade of B or better) an approved prerequisite course in public health or health education/promotion prior to enrolling.
